Gross. There's not much to like here. $22 for a burger and beer lunch. I've been here 3 times and my order has been wrong twice. They won't get another chance. The floors are always sticky. They don't seem to clean or disinfect any tables or the bar between guests. My table even had crumbs on it, even though "staff is required to disinfect surfaces between guests." The place smells of grease and stale beer. The Sysco burgers are just bigger versions of bland Burger King patties. The fries were OK, though. Maybe pick up fries from Rusty Melon and get your burger from Burger King next door. Avoid. Consider yourself warned. read more

Wow this is such a little Erie Gem! My husband and I came in awhile ago and were blown away! Out bartender Sophie was so sweet and helpful. She gave us great recommendations and made some of the best margs ever! Whoever was in the kitchen was on fire that night and made us some great food even though it was almost 9 and nothing else was opened. Dry rub wings, a gluten free burger, fries and my fav the rueben. We have come back a few times since and my husband takes his employees there for lunch on occasion and they are always stoked. Since then we have met the owners Rusty and Justine who are just as awesome as the bar they opened. Family businesses in a town like Erie make it Erie. Definitely come by and check it out. read more

Ordered takeout and it was awesome.!!! Reaper Wings had the perfect amount of kick & flavor!! Wife had the Oriental salad!! Huge portions, tons of flavor! We were excited for this place but sadly it really wasn't anything to write home about. I got the bbq pork Mac and cheese and it was horrible. Way way way too much sauce for the amount of noodles and the "pork" was tiny little dice size pieces (hardly any) .. no seasoning and just terrible. My mom got the French dip. It was decent, but not amazing and very small portion. Our server never came back after delivering the food. Finally we had to flag down another server to ask for a side of Mayo and a refill. From the moment we walked into this place we felt unwelcome. The service was horrible. It took forever to get half of order and the other half was never given to us. They have a juke box, which we put $20 into. As I was picking the songs the owner came to me and informed me that if I picked any songs with cuss words in it they would be skipping the songs, because it's a family restaurant. Showed up at 5:00 to an empty restaurant. We go early because we have young kiddos. We are still waiting for our food at 6:19 after ordering around 5:15. We were told it was due to the backup of to go orders that they received. Unacceptable to not handle the customers in store rather than the customers who put in orders online. First time at this "highly-rated" place and unacceptable to be waiting over an hour and twenty minutes for food. read more

This place is really great and I hope they stick around! The owners are always responding to and taking the advice of their customers, and have steadily been improving and growing the menu since they opened. Staff have always been kind and helpful. My family and I have tried many dishes and have been impressed with all of them. The food is always fresh and delicious, we've never had anything we don't like or anything that seems fake or microwaved. The place itself could use a face-lift, especially if they really are serious about wanting to be "family friendly," something that's desperately needed in a family town like Erie and something I've seen them advertise. The patio is great, a nice relaxed feel with lots of space. But, the indoor seating options are really limited for families with young children, only one large table is regular height. We always feel bad taking it with our small family, but counter height is just really impossible with toddlers. So, we usually opt to go only when the weather is nice for sitting outside. This place still has a very intense "bar feel." Lots of guys and gals sitting at the bar drinking lots of booze, no matter what day or what time. Not complaining, I often gaze longingly at them, wishing I was sitting alone drinking at the bar, instead of eating out with tiny humans! But, it can be a little off-putting the first few times you go in there with kids, as it gives off a very "adult only" vibe. I always sort of feel like I shouldn't be bringing my kids there when we first walk in. But, then I remember the yummy food and kind staff, and we just walk right past the bar to the patio where we usually find more families. Overall, a great addition to Erie. I hope they stick around and grow into a great place that can support both Erie families and those looking to sit at the bar and get their drink on, sans kids. read more

I know there have been a few negative reviews for the Rusty Melon and I understand where people are coming from. I personally do not go to a restaurant/bar for the décor. Is it kid friendly? Maybe not but its not marketed that way. Could they have better seating? Sure. I don't go to the Rusty Melon for anything other than the food. I've eaten there or have had carry out almost a dozen times and I have no complaints. Everything I've ordered was good and I would order it again. They have added a few new salads to the menu and I'm sure with time they will add other items. Glad Erie has the Rusty Melon!!! read more

Some real potential here. Great atmosphere and friendly service. This potentially could be "The burger place" in Erie. Great bun and patty, fresh fixins too. I would strongly encourage using seasoning for your patty's and fries. The fries are bland and do not leave you wanting more. Something here needs to be changed as they are not good. The patty is juicy and somewhat flavorful on its own but could use salt and pepper at the very minimum. I will definitely come back to try more. Yes, their interior is unchanged from the previous owners. Doesn't bother me though, it's not trying to be some upscale restaurant. The food is fantastic and so worth it. They continue to upgrade their menu and tweak it based on feedback, which is more than many places do with feedback. Check out their menu, if it sounds appealing, you'll love it.
