One of Our Cape Cod Traditions! There are certain restaurants that become part of your family's vacation traditions, and The Sailing Cow is definitely one of those places for us. Whenever my family and I vacation in Dennis Port, The Sailing Cow is one of our go-to spots. We usually stay at a hotel down the road, so it's incredibly convenient for breakfast -- but convenience isn't the reason we keep coming back. The food is consistently delicious, the staff is friendly, and the ocean views make it feel like you're starting your day the right way. Breakfast We've always been seated quickly, even when it's busy, and the staff has always been welcoming. They have all the classic breakfast favorites, but my personal favorite is the Hash Omelette. It's flavorful, filling, and something I look forward to ordering when we're here. I've also had the sausage, egg and cheese on a grilled English muffin and the bacon, egg and cheese, and both make for a great quick breakfast. My daughters have ordered the Protein Pack and were very happy with it. The only constructive feedback I would give is regarding the bacon. On a couple of visits, it seemed a little undercooked for my liking. It's a small thing, but making sure the bacon is cooked a little longer would make an already good breakfast even better. Dinner With the Family We've also experienced The Sailing Cow with a much larger family group, and this is where they really impressed me. On one visit, they accommodated a reservation for 17 people -- something that can easily become chaotic at a restaurant. Our waitress was fantastic. She was attentive, friendly, and incredibly efficient getting everyone's drinks and orders taken. Even more impressive, the food came out correctly and at a good pace for such a large group. That's not an easy thing to accomplish with 17 people at one table! I ordered the Beer Batter Fish & Chips, which was perfectly portioned and delicious. My daughter ordered the Ahi Tuna Bowl, and she absolutely loved it. Her description says it best: "Tuna was seared to perfection and seasoned well. The other elements of the rice bowl, like the pickled onion, mango, and dressings, complemented it wonderfully." The Cape Cod Experience The Sailing Cow also gets extra points for its atmosphere. There's indoor and outdoor seating with an ocean view, which makes the experience feel like much more than just grabbing a meal. What I appreciate most is that we've visited for both a quick family breakfast and a large family dinner, and both experiences have been excellent. That consistency is what makes a restaurant memorable. If you're vacationing in Dennis Port or anywhere nearby, I definitely recommend putting The Sailing Cow on your list. I stop along this place for a table for 1. The place was beautiful and fun from the outside. I waited 10 minutes for a server to come over, and even though it was moderately busy, I felt that my raw bar shrimp cocktail and steamers came out pretty late. My drink was also sitting at the bar for 10 minutes, and watered down by the time I received it. The steamers were good however very light portion for one pound. It's like they weighed the steamers with the plate lol. I have had many steamers around the came and this one of the lightest portions, and they seemed to be a bit older. Still good but not something I would go out of my way to get again. The Sailing Cow is such a fun place. There is indoor and outdoor patio seating overlooking the ocean. The outdoor seating is a nice patio with a tiki bar. The bartenders and waitstaff are friendly and knowledgeable. The service is great even when the place is packed.There is a wide variety of food. Something for everyone. We went in with low expectations, and they were met. The restaurant is convenient to a beach near our vacation rental. Once we'd pitched our umbrellas and beach chairs, I went about ordering lunch, which you can do online in the sand, and it will let you know when it's ready. The food was okay, nothing special or particularly interesting. Our elderly aunt liked the clam chowder, but my younger kid said it was oily and refused to eat it. My older kid liked the fish sandwich but said it was merely okay. I have multiple food allergies, which they do not accommodate at all, so I ended up having a cobb salad, no cheese, no croutons, no dressing because the guy at the cash register could not figure out which dressings were safe. It was a pretty good cobb salad, our aunt had one too, but I do get tired of defaulting to a salad everywhere. And it was all PRICEY, far more than I would have expected for food of this quality. We had a fantastic experience at the Sailing Cow for dinner. With its extensive menu, quality seafood, casual atmosphere, and fun cow theme, it was the perfect spot for a family dinner for a large group of 8. Food: The food was pretty good and a step above your typical fried seafood or burger shack. Portion sizes are larger so decent value for the price. The fish tacos were more like fish quesadillas with the melted cheese and toasted tortillas but the fish was flaky and well cooked. Fresh lettuce and tomato to go on top along with a spicy mayo. The beans and rice that came along with the tacos had a nice Caribbean flavor to it with the coconut. The tuna fish salad which is actually ahi tuna on a bed of greens was nice. Wish they would have added a few more things to the salad to make it more lively. The hyped clam chowder lived up to its billing - very thick and creamy with nice chunks of clam in it. The clam strips were also a big hit with the golden breading and thick strips of clam. The English fish and chips provide a nice beer batter that most places in the cape don't offer. I do have to call out the Mac and cheese on the kids menu though - it was the boxed variety which is fine if it didn't have $8 price tag along with no additional sides. Everyone seemed to be ordering mudslides for drinks and they did look delicious. Service: our server was very friendly and multiple people came to check in on us throughout the night. Unlike most restaurants, they also allowed us to call in a reservation for 8. Ambience: Cows everywhere! I've never seen so much cowed themed items and puns ever and it added a bit of fun to the experience especially with kids. It was lively and loud inside with lots of families dining. It's a bit tight inside so try to score an order table if you can. We sat outside and the outdoor seating is great being across the street from the beach and having string lights to light up the evening. The Sailing Cow gets 5 stars as a rare Cape unicorn that offers good food, fun atmosphere, expansive menu, accepting reservations, accommodating large groups and kids, and outdoor seating by the beach. read more

We stopped here for a quick lunch and the place is nice...plenty of outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. The menu is pretty extensive and the prices very reasonable for a place right on the beach....overlooking the sand and the ocean. As you walk in, the hostess helps you find a table and provides the menus. We opted for a chicken cordon blue, where they asked what kind of bread we wanted...we chose a wrap. The sandwich came with homemade chips and a pickle. It was really good, the fresh lettuce inside the wrap, the nice pieces of ham and chicken were all very tasty and well made...a good sandwich for sure. It was only $12. Many of the tables outside have umbrellas that allow for seating under the shade. Private parking lot available for those driving in. They take credit cards. read more

Two of us went on a nice day. The view can't be beat! The prices, however, are very high. I know everything is expensive on the Cape but lunch, (sandwich, burger and 1 soda), shouldn't cost $60 (tip included in that number) I think it was recently sold so maybe the new owners increased prices. We ate there today/ got there around 10:30, wait was around 40 minutes. Was a bit surprised lunch doesn't start until noon- thet was fine had a cocktail and enjoyed the outside. Cocktails were very good. Service was a bit slow- it was a good 15 Minutes before our server came back (I was in the restroom when first seated).. then had to try and find her for about 15 Minutes for more drinks, water , lunch menu- anyhow for our lunch order in. He really enjoyed the clam chowder and little necks- they were super fresh. His chowder came out first then littlenecks. My fish dinner came out 10 minutes after he was done eating. Wished the entrees came out at the same time. Fish was very good and was hot- I substituted onion rings they were very good and are homemade Parking is tight here. Breakfast seems to be more busy than lunch. House manager did walk around early on and asked each table how things were going. The reviews get this place super wrong. It is no where near as bad as the 1 stars and read them, they're all about specific complaints not the general story. Do they make mistakes? Probably but the few times we dined it was fine. Don't expect to be treated like your special and you'll have a great time. Stayed across the street from here and had a few meals here. Is it life changing food? No. Is it maybe a little expensive for what you get? Yeah but it's a tourist town so deal with it. Service perfect? It's good enough the times we went but don't expect to be treated like royalty and waited on hand and foot and you'll be fine. Have a little patience if they're super busy. Food takes a while to come out? Enjoy the company and the views. Maybe help the staff a bit and clean up after yourself as well. The staff are young kids making a buck for the summer. No frills. Simple bar food and basic seafood preparations. The wings were HUGE and super filling and flavorful. The lobster roll was fresh. The scallops were well cooked. The fries were perfect. This isn't the Ocean House. Don't expect it to be fine dining. Expect friendly fun staff. Laid back no frills atmosphere. In years past we have had wonderful experiences at this restaurant. However this year makes me and my family not want to come back. We arrived at 12 and sat there with drinks for 30 minutes before finally placing our order. When we got our order a member in my party ordered Aruban and got a corn beef and Swiss. The best thing about the Sailing Cow is the location. We were staying nearby and walked over a few times for breakfast and dinner. The service was quick and friendly. Diners were seated with social distancing in mind, and the staff wore their masks properly. The cocktails were good and cost $9. I went to the Sailing Cow for the first time tonight. I got there late and sat at the bar. I was made feel welcome and was not rushed. I ordered the Bleu Burger and a pint of Blue Moon. Service was prompt, friendly and professional. The bartender, Patricia, was friendly and engaging but also focused and on the ball. The beer was good and the burger was flavorful and perfectly balanced. The bun was solid enough to hold the burger without falling apart but light enough that it didn't take away from the tasty meat. I truly don't understand the 2.5 star rating here. This place is next to our rental so we figured what the heck despite the not so great yelp rating (Google reviews are great, btw.) Anyway, we had a half hour wait but once we were sat they were reasonably quick despite being busy and they brought out my daughters chicken fingers in record time which I appreciated. With a heavy heart I update my review for this establishment. Myself and my fiance stopped in on August 21 2021 around 630 pm. We had already ate dinner and wanted to have a quick drink or two before heading home. The bartender who came behind the bar was the most aggressive and inpolite woman I have ever had the bad fortune of meeting. She began by complaining about how she was cleaning up the mess that had been left by the day shift ( I actually empathised with her since I myself had bartended for 15+ years and knew how bad that is to start your shift to) , she continued on in her misery but began making comments directed at myself and fiance. She asked how long we were staying, which I replied until Tuesday, she said " must be nice" , and " isn't it great being rich" . I was a little more then a little thrown off because myself and fiance are 2 extremely hard working individuals who take almost no vacations due to our demanding positions. ... I explained my parents live here, which she scoffed and explained she was born here. I said that's nice, my parents have been residents for 15 years and ( non of her business may I add) have been coming to the cape for summers for over 40 years. She then continued on saying " what are they going to do, sell their house for 700,000.00." Now I was getting highly irritated at her presumptions and lack of etiquette. I said absolutely not. They worked three jobs a piece for numerous years to buy their dream home. It's a family home and will never be sold. SHE THEN SAYS SO YOU AND YOUR SIBLINGS WILL INHERIT MOM AND DADS HARD WORK! That was it, I reached into my purse and grabbed my credit card. The last straw for my fiance was when I handed my credit card over to pay ( with our drinks still full because the verbal abuse was that bad) I have a teachers union debit card. She looks at it and says oh. Your a teacher, do you have to wear masks to work, to which I replied " I am not a teacher" and asks why I have that card ( again none of her business) I said my father was a principle and I am a member of the bank. Her final response " so still riding the benefits of your dad" There are a lot of things that you can assume about someone, but assuming someone is privileged because of how hard their parents worked their entire life to get what they wanted and deserved, is inaccurate anduneducated. It's the worst customer service I have ever received and the most disappointed in management and staff from a single establishment in my life.
