Just had lunch on a brisk sunny Saturday afternoon and what a great experience it was. The place is wide open and airy, with outside seating, as well, in a large fenced off area next to the indoor seating area. Were it a tad warmer I would have opted for outside, as many people did, and seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely. The staff was friendly but disorganized. I'm assuming it's because the place is fairly new so maybe they're still working out the kinks. Still, it appeared that customers were getting their orders and the only backup came when the lunch rush arrived in earnest. Straight up their burger is now a close second to my all-time favorite local burger. Not just good, exceptional. I ordered mine with a minimum of condiments so I could get a sense of the base product and it was practically perfect. Thick 1/2 pound beef patty, just a hint of pink in the middle, and the sweetest kiss of char from the grill, served on a light but structurally sound bun (it didn't disintegrate while I was eating in spite of the fact that the burger was DRIPPING JUICES all over the plate). The set-up is that the burger is plain and you tell them what you want on it, but there is also a selection of sauces and condiments on the table for your own personal touches. I also ordered onion rings and they too were practically perfect. Battered (tempura-style, as opposed to breaded) they were light as air and the onions were just cooked through. My only gripe is that they were under-seasoned and there wasn't a salt shaker on my table. I did get to try the fries and they were also very good--medium thick, creamy interior, with what appears to be a light coating of cornstarch to give the crunch on the outside a little boost, and seasoned perfectly (maybe my rings were just overlooked). The dessert menu was minimal but solid. They were out of the raspberry lemon drop cake so I settled for the pumpkin pie ice cream. It was OK. It didn't drag down the meal but it didn't lift it up, either. I'll be back for the cake. I'm not a drinker so I can't say much about their selection of alcohol. What I can tell you even as a novice is that the selection looked extensive and included ciders, pale ales, lagers, even a hard kombucha, as well as a selection of popular beers in cans. Speaking of cans (and moving into the "could use improvement" part of my review) ... one of my pet peeves is restaurants that serve sodas in the can. For me the whole point of going out is to experience things I can't get or create myself at home. Part of the issue I'm having specific to this restaurant is that they gone to some lengths to create a menu full of well-made well-presented food and drink that is both creative and made with attention to detail and then I got to the soda and was like "Oh, is that it, I'm limited to national corn syrup heavy concoctions in a can?" If they're going to go with cans I'd like to see them 1 expand the selection and 2 clean the top of the can before serving it. (Plus side, other than some of the to go bags I didn't see any plastics anywhere and my soda came in an aluminum can). Hopefully they'll switch to a fountain at some point and go with one of the emerging small businesses that are making their own soda syrups. One other downside is that the dining area (while open and airy) is all hard surfaces so the noise level is insane even with fewer than a dozen customers inside, so on a warm day I'd definitely recommend eating outside. The prices align with the quality of the food and preparation so higher than average but not expensive, objectively speaking, and not that much more than I've spent at a drive-thru. The difference being that a fast food burger is filling but a Sawmill's burger is satisfying. This is a local gem. Overall a very positive experience, and the few areas for improvement aren't deal-breakers. read more

Ordered a chicken sandwich and a Caesar salad wrap with no chicken waited an hour to get my food and the wrap had chicken...Worst dining experience I've had in awhile especially for a Wednesday. read more

I love the burgers, the atmosphere, and the service. My friends and I like the place so much we drive from a long way just to eat here. Shannan and the other waitresses are great. Hint to the owners..... Being a guy who worked his way up from the ground floor, I have low tolerance for managers who treat help with little respect. Managing is a skill that typically takes time and maturity to learn. It's certainly not something anyone can do. My advice, If I see a worker being disrespected by management, I won't be spending my money there.... read more

Having a decent restaurant near by is always nice, but having been here several times now we are extremely disappointed in how the food has gotten worse. We had plenty of times we ordered from here and was always happy but after our recent visit we may not be returning anytime soon. We had the our regular favorite fried chicken sandwich and it was just terrible. borderline gross really and not cheap either! I'm pretty sad about it because we did really like this place and in a small town where there are only a few places to eat we now have one less place to go to. read more

On 12th th 29th 2021, I ordered a takeout of a three-piece beef slider and a salad and I was severely displeased. The meat was rubbery and burnt and the salad dressing was blue cheese when I ordered ranch. I had to wait a long time for that order and it was very disappointing. I should have eaten it in house rather than take out so that I can be guaranteed a fresh and not overcooked meal. read more

Great spot! Went to check out some live music and have a beer with a couple friends and the ambience was pretty cool, but our server Shannon have it that extra star for sure! She was super friendly and kept our glasses full. Talked me into a burger and I'm glad she did. Not only was it good, but I probably needed it. Will def be back! read more

We took our grandson there last night for dinner. Had a great time and good service. The outside was pretty busy and the staff did a great job keeping things moving. Grandson had the corndog & fries, my bride had a burger and salad and I had the pasta. Really loved seeing all the families there, kids running around interacting with each other. Great selection of apps and beers, could use some improvement in the wine offerings though. We'll be back and bring more people, get out and support our new local eatery. ordered a cheesesteak sandwich ($17!!!), Ok let's see. Not that crowded, took 40 minutes for my order but it was nice outside. Picture in the menu looked good, I know it is just a picture. Came on a generic cheap white bread bun, no heating, no toasting, no butter, no garlic, just a cold cheap white doughy bun. A little below subway or safeway bread quality. Supposed to be ribeye steak but it was kind of a coarse ground meat, maybe it was ribeye. Asked for hot peppers like in the picture, could not identify any pepper flavor definitely not spicy. the cheese sauce was some type of blank white sauce with a hint of bland cheese flavor like you might use to make mac and cheese without the yellow/orange food coloring. gave the meat a kind of stew like consistency that swamped any meat flavor. Pretty awful sandwich, kind of like my memory of what school lunch food was years ago. Can't imagine anyone at this place ever tasted even a mediocre copy of a phily cheese steak sandwich. fries were OK, waitress was nice. I am done with this place. read more

absolute worst customer service i have ever experience. as someone who has worked in customer service/serving for over 6 years it was ridiculous. my parents and i had heard such amazing things about this place. immediately we were disappointed. they were out of almost all their appetizers at only 6pm. our server was extremely unprofessional. when we asked a question about the menu she said "well i don't know" and than stood there and we asked if she could find out and she said "well i guess if it's that big of a deal". she shouted across the restaurant telling me i didn't know what i was talking about (pertaining to our question) and we waited about 25 minutes until she came back to the table and said "did you guys already order?" my father said no we haven't had anyone help us and she said "well we all help each other" (yet no one helped us) she finally took our order. it took about 35 minutes to get our food, understandable, although people who just sat down already had their food. people from the patio kept coming in and asking for a server as they had been waiting 30+ minutes for a server. we we got our food we were missing a bunch of stuff (but at this point we just wanted to leave) my fathers burger was completely raw. he had to put napkins on his tray to soak up all the blood that was coming from it. we had all finished our food and again another 15 minutes passed before our server came back over and said "well are you ready to pay?" i asked for a box and than she left us again for 10 more minutes finally coming back for us to pay. she did not offer a receipt and gave herself a 25% tip and leaned over my fathers shoulder while he was signing. i texted my server friend, who works at another local restaurant, and she read my text to her management and her cooks and they all said it sounds like the absolute worst service ever (which it was). if you're desperate to try to food just do to-go. it's not worth it (the food isn't even that good) read more
