Came here for a late breakfast and was really surprised at how large and brightly lit this location is. It was vastly different from the LES location which is tight and dark. It really was a beautiful restaurant with a nice bar. I would say that the breakfast menu is kind of small but I got the egg omelet with spinach and goat cheese. It was a pretty large portion and was really happy with the omelet. I was literally stuffed! But the side salad didn't do much and wish that they would actually give you potatoes. It's breakfast! The rolls they give you were also good, sort of a mix between a croissant and a roll. However, it would have been much better if it were warm. I think where this lacked was the service. This place is in a convenient location, has a ton of outdoor seating, and is a good neighborhood for people watching as they walk on the sidewalks. I am giving it 3 stars as the burger while tasty, was so wet and sloppy that I could only get 1 bite out of it before having to switch to a knife and form because the bottom bun had totally disintegrated. While visiting NYC we were in the area after visiting the Empire State Building and decided to see if they had room at the bar for 2 of us to get some drinks and brunch/lunch. We have been to The Smith in Washington DC and had a great experience, so we were hoping for more of the same here. It was crowded when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon (30 min wait for a table), but there was plenty of seats open at the bar. The bartender was great and despite it being busy, was able to prepare our drinks pretty quickly (both first and second round). My partner ordered a dirty martini and I ordered an aperol spritz. Both were mixed well and delicious! For lunch, they still had their brunch menu available so my partner ordered the ranchero scramble (bartender's recommendation, which did not disappoint) and I got a caesar salad with chicken. We also ordered a side of fries. The ranchero scramble was sooo good - I wished I had ordered it too. The caesar salad was nothing special. The parmesan crisps crumbled on top were a nice touch. The fries were also good and the bartender brought us some garlic aioli as a side in addition to ketchup. Overall, it's a nice spot for brunch or lunch. We still haven't been to any of their locations for dinner, but definitely plan to go on a future visit. read more

Came on a weekend night with a reservation and it did not disappoint! Have been to the UWS location multiple times before. They have the classics such as the potato chips which were delicious as usual. Service was friendly and timely. Casual atmosphere. First and foremost, you need to try the Mac and cheese here. It's definitely big enough to be an entree but we got it to split between the table and it was perfect. It has a good amount of black pepper so it kind of reminded me of Cacio e Pepe but just extra creamy. I really enjoyed it but I'm sure ppl who don't enjoy it wouldn't be a fan. For my entree I was recommended the truffle gnocchi which was delicious but extremely heavy. I could only finish half of it but it's def a thick Alfredo sauce. The gnocchi itself was soft! Went to this location last Thursday evening for a family dinner. Service and food quality seems to have slipped a little (at least compared to prior times I've been here as well as compared to the midtown and Lincoln center locations). We had a table for 8. Took us probably 5-10 minutes to be seated when we were on time. The restaurant wasn't filled yet, which makes me think they forgot about us or didn't prep. Once we were seated, took a decent amount of time for the waiter to even come around and put the bottles of water on the table. Took probably 15 minutes for our drink order to be processed and to arrive. They forgot my brother's drink entirely. The chicken Caesar salads ordered just looked sad. The rigatoni alla vodka tasted good, but the cheese on top looked kind of congealed. The salmon, chicken under a brick, and Mac N Cheese looked and tasted great (as normal for this place). My mussels, which are usually a giant hit, came out a bit overdone and rubbery, and not enough sauce/broth in the pot. Fries were excellent as usual tho. No bread was brought for the table or for my mussels. I love this place and was a fairly loyal customer to the midtown location when I used to live there. We stopped here for an impromptu lunch because we were in the area visiting a children's learning museum. I've had food from a different location, the food was awesome but customer service was even better. We had an issue with our order and the operating manager at the time really took care of us in rectifying the situation. I had zero qualms about dining here because of that experience, so we made reservations on the fly and headed to the restaurant. When we arrived, we were seated quickly. One of the main reasons I wanted to come here is because I knew it would be fairly spacious, as the other location I visited was pretty big. We scored a booth and our server acknowledged us immediately, offering us two bottles of water, sparkling and still, while we looked over the menus. We got some fresh OJ for the babes, hubbs ordered their Wild Horses drink, with both mezcal and tequila in it. It was nice, served in a rocks glass with a single big ice cube. I had the French 75 slushie because I love a good adult slushie. The staff is very attentive and pleasant and I would not expect anything less. This just goes to show the level of quality they ensure across all of their locations. Grub Rundown: Kid's Menu - Babes had a cheeseburger and it was such a large serving! It was cooked medium like we asked and served with a huge plate of french fries. Apps - I ordered a dozen mixed oysters and they were all really good, cleaned well and served with the appropriate accoutrements. We also got their Spicy Salmon, which was a must have because my son and I were loving these things on the ride home the last time we had them. Spicy salmon tartare atop crispy rice rectangles and a thin slice of jalapeño. These are soooo good! Even hubby had a few. Lastly for starters, I had to get us a bowl of their potato chips. They're freshly made chips, served warm with a healthy pour of bleu cheese fondue on top, along with bleu cheese crumbles. The textures and tangy flavour hits. I love these. We couldn't eat them all and when I asked that they get wrapped up, the sweetest busser hooked us up with extra fondue! Bruuhhhhhh... Mains - hubby had The Smith Burger and I took a bite. It was just as good as the ones we ordered months ago. Again, they're very generous with the fries. We also ordered one more to go for my son, as he stayed home to tend to the doggos this day. I had a large Caesar salad with a roasted salmon addition. The salad was definitely a nice size and I was not able to eat all of it. The salmon was perfectly cooked with a nice crisp. We ended the meal with another round. Hubby had another wild horse drink and I opted for a hot toddy because it was a chily day and spring is almost here. I love a good hot toddy. If you don't know by now, I love all the things. I'm sure all of The Smith locations are equally as nice. I've experienced excellent customer service in two so far and their food is soooo good. I was scrambling to find a brunch spot for a group of us as we were in the area. Since this is in the Koreatown neighborhood, we wanted to find some great Korean food for brunch, but it was incredibly difficult to find a brunch spot for five on a Sunday. So I basically gave up and started to look for nearby restaurants and found The Smith, which turned out to be better than expected! I made a reservation for the five of us, which I highly recommend doing because it was PACKED by the time we arrived. There were several groups waiting for a table. Even with a reservation, we waited about 10 minutes for our table to be ready. The space was beautiful, as it gave me art deco/jazz era vibes with some midcentury modern furnishings and whatnot. Loved the subway tile, black and white with gold accents, etc. It was also a large restaurant, despite how busy it was. The menu featured classic dishes, from sandwiches, salads, burgers, with a full cocktail menu. I ordered a bloody mary and the kale quinoa salad with chicken, while the majority of our table ordered the burger, which is famous here! Everyone loved their food! The kale quinoa salad was light, refreshing and delicious! The portion was large enough to share. I really enjoyed it, especially with the citrus dressing it came with. I had a bite of my aunt's burger and it was very, very good! She even ordered her burger well-done, which I normally do not like, but it had me thinking twice. Can't imagine how good the burger would be had it been medium rare! Though we weren't searching for The Smith, it turned out to be a lovely restaurant for brunch and getting together. While on the pricier side this place makes for a solid and spacious brunch spot. BENEDICT JOHNNY Over a layer of crispy thin cheese cornbread in a skillet overlies chicken sausage patties with a poached egg on each and hollandaise sauce on top. This was overall pretty good although it was $23 but if we're just talking about the flavor and texture the cornbread itself was thin and crisp without really having the fluffiness you might expect from a corn bread and the chicken sausage was nicely cooked with a good deal of browning on either side tender in texture and quite flavorful with a subtle maple flavor running through them. The hollandaise sauce was rather thick and one the yellow side which I believe to be due to a high ratio of egg yolk which was interesting. BLUEBERRY PIE For 14 bucks you can get a mini blueberry pie for dessert with a little scoop of ice cream on top. It was actually pretty good inside and there are definitely real blueberries running through the pie with a good deal of blueberry jammines that is surrounded by A sugar crusted dough And I think there's something little extra in here maybe some sort of liquer I don't know that adds another element of flavor which I enjoyed CORTADO Not particularly known for its coffee drinks the cortado left much to be desired - wasn't particularly smooth and the coffee they use is on the bitter side Overall I would say look at the prices before you come here it's not that the food is bad it's just for me personally it doesn't correlate to the price tag but if you can take a look at the menu and feel content with the prices this is a place worth checking out as the food itself is solid. read more

Always a good time at The Smith, perfect for date night or a small group. Service can be a little slow at times. They have a large cocktail selection, The Gatsby is a great refreshing drink. Had brunch here with 3 other friends on Sunday. The inside is very spacious and nicely decorated with a fancier vibe. We had a reservation for 12:30 pm and our table was ready when we arrived. I wasn't too hungry and was relieved to find that their brunch entrees aren't heavy at all. Most are reasonably priced in the sub $20 range as well, unless you want to go fancy with steak and eggs. I went with the omelette ($17), which comes with some mixed greens on the side instead of the usual toast or potatoes. I love it when eggs aren't cooked fully, and that's how the omelette was. I thoroughly enjoyed the soft omelette here, probably one of the best I've had in a while. The drink / cocktail menu is here pretty extensive as well. The smith usually has great food, great ambiance and great service. The food was good per usual - we had 8 people and got multiple apps, cocktails, a bottle of wine and then main courses. The issue that occurred last night was that 6 courses came out at once, and the next 2 took 15 minutes before they came out. We had 6 courses for 15 minutes, then 7 for about 3 more minutes then finally the 8th came. As this was a business dinner, everyone was polite and did not want to eat in advance of all plates arriving, I would hope this is an anomaly, but nothing was done to remedy the situation. A manager came over and apologized but that was it. As a large group spending a lot of money, this was a disappointment. The pork chop was good, many got the salmon, which was also good. Service was slightly slow and we saw 2 different servers take our orders. We ordered a few cocktails which weren't that great, although we did enjoy their beers on tap which included a Pilsner and a Kolsch. I'm not sure if it's complimentary but there was a biscuit and honey(?) butter when I got there, which were really nice. The asparagus and other veggies were encased below the eggs and were soaked in the mixture. I ordered the matcha latte, and it was surprisingly one of the best I've had in recent while. If you are making last minute brunch plans and need to solidify said plans, The Smith is not a bad option near the KTown area. Without these constraints, I'd probably try a different brunch restaurant. Overall, a 3.5/5 but will raise it to a 4/5. My friends and I were able to make a reservation for 10 AM on a Sunday morning the day before. When we came in, there weren't many people. However, when we left around 11:30 AM, the place was pretty packed. Just an FYI! I like that this place gives you both still and sparkling water. We were also given a small basket of bread and butter to munch on while waiting for food. We shared a couple of starters: "Burrata" and "Brussel Sprouts". Definitely get the "Burrata" here! I really enjoyed every aspect of it. The ciabatta was nicely toasted and went well with the pesto, burrata and roasted tomatoes. I don't usually enjoy tomatoes, but these were really flavorful! Burrata was soft and creamy, very delightful. I thought the "Brussel Sprouts" were just OK and really overpriced for what it is. They were extremely oily (which is probably why they're so good) and parts of it were over roasted. They were well salted and seasoned, but $12 for a small plate was not worth it. We can all oven roast this at home. I got the "Yogurt + Berries" which was quite good! It was topped with a generous amount of fresh strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. The pistachios sprinkled on top was a really nice touch. It's also not too sweet (Greek yogurt with whole milk?) and the coconut granola was also delicious. I wish there was more of that granola though. Even though I could make this at home, the presentation was aesthetic and picture worthy and I'm just really big on eating fruits on the daily.
