This place is kind of hidden behind a bank and at the end of a long and narrow plaza but it's definitely worth searching for. A true hidden gem. They serve their full menu until 1am every night and the atmosphere is awesome. Great place to grab a brew and watch the game. I got to-go burgers for our first meal here and they were so large they couldn't close the boxes. They smelled amazing and tasted so good. So glad I found this place! One of the best kept secrets in the area. A nice bar scene with a great food menu to boot, backyard consistently kills it.

The server was great. The executive chef on the other hand came out rude and with a heavily body odor. They ran out of waffles and turkey clubs before the lunch hour even started. We asked for our checks and left. The executive chef literally followed us outside and told some members of our party to "join watchers" and "they need Jenny Craig" as they walked to their vehicles unprovoked. This was EXTREMELY uncalled for and unprofessional. On top of patrons not wearing their masks into the establishment, employees having their masks below their noses, not having multiple menu items available, and harassing us as we left the establishment. This place truly is a hideaway. It's not a place you would normally stumble upon, which compliments its appeal. The food is perfect if you're in the mood for a small plate or a hearty meal. I ordered a flatbread that was delicious, but not as "flat" as I had anticipated. I went here for the endless mimosas and they were great; meaning, they weren't drowned with orange juice. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, which was clad with Tampa culture. This is an important quality to have in a local gastro pub. The men's bathroom was a little shady as it had black floors, a black toilet, a black sink, and wine-dark walls. I wasn't there for the bathroom but I felt it worth mentioning. The staff seemed to genuinely care about providing quality service, as they were training new cooks in the kitchen. Sit at the bar and you will always have a full mimosa! It can be a little hard to find at the back end of a small strip center. But once you find it, you will be glad you did. They have the best mozzarella sticks that are hand cut and breaded. My favorite appetizer is "Just the Tips"..... filet tips done right. Don't forget the short-rib flatbread. Someone recommended it to me several years ago when I moved here and I'm now a regular. Soho Backyard is the New Taco Thursday Soho hot spot! We came here Thurs for $2 Chicken tacos and $3 Mahi Mahi tacos and they were awesome! They also have gator and lobster tacos but I haven't tried those. Maybe next time. Soho Backyard is a laid back hidden bar off the beaten path behind the CVS and a bank off Howard in between Howard and Armenia and is not visible at all from Swann so while I passed by this area a lot, I literally had to use Google Maps to find this hidden treasure. This bar has $4 yeunglings and bud lights on draft and $5 wells which is pretty average. There is plenty of parking available in a private lot without valet which is nice because most places in Soho charge money for parking. Bathrooms were not the cleanest. The bartender tells us that this is a popular brunch spot where you can add a bunch of toppings to your bloody Mary's on Saturdays and Sundays. Decor has cool blue and pink led lighting and the bars have tons of hanging paintings with 4 tvs and a really big projector TV which is great for watching football games! When you're looking for a more chill bar that's less busy in Soho, this is a good spot. Bartenders tend to talk to their friends a lot so it can take some time to get a drink but I like their laid back vibe. Will be back again! :) read more

Came in on a recent Saturday evening for drinks with some friends. I like the convenience of the location and their parking lot is convenient if you are stopping by here. There are two bars inside and the bartenders at both were very pleasant and made good drink recommendations. I indulged in the Fruity Mule, which is a combination of about 3 different flavored vodkas along with the staple mule ingredients. It was quite refreshing and not too sweet. The overall ambiance of this place was great and made for a nice place to grab a drink in a low key environment, which isn't always the case with bars in SOHO. read more

Surprisingly I had never heard of this place until we came across it on yelp. We were looking for somewhere good to eat late night and we decided to give it a try. The food options looked pretty good and were calling my appetite. When we got to soho backyard the parking lot was confusing and we didn't know where the entrance was. The door we walked through looked like the back of the building so we kept walking around to find it really was the entrance. When we went inside it was also very confusing.. no one greeted us or told us where to sit. So we sat down our selves somewhere in the tiny restaurant. Finally a man greeted us about 5 minutes later. We had already knew what we wanted by looking at the menu on yelp. So I ordered the duck wings, avocado salsa, and he ordered a BBQ flatbread. Our food took a little while to come and when it did we only got our salsa and wings, 15 minutes later came our flatbread. The wings were delicious we really enjoyed them which is mainly the reason for 3 stars .. but everything else was terrible including the service. Don't bother ordering a flatbread is was horrible. No flavor, no sauce .. pathetic. And the service was not good at all. We probably won't come back. read more

I went to The Soho Backyard for the second time last time and I have to say that I had a lot of fun. The atmosphere for the bar is very chill and they have a great music selection. This is the first place where I have ever seen taps above my head! The logic behind it is very brilliant. This is also a place where you can go to watch sports games as they have several tvs. The best part to me though is the air conditioning/fans. The outside section and inside are connected and i didn't feel hot at all. That's a definite plus for any Florida bar! read more

I've been here twice since the place opened. Had a good time. It's off the beaten path and doesn't at track the usual gaggle of STD's. The staff is friendly and prompt with service. The food was good and not your usual bar menu. Over all it's a pretty cool place. read more

This place is the literally the definition of a "hidden gem." It is literally hidden in South Tampa, hard to find but once you get in there, it's great. Superclean and trendy, with attentive quick service. what sticks out?? The kitchen is open and you can see how clean and fresh your food is!!! The only reason I don't give this five stars, because the drink mixes are not spectacular and the prices are a tad bit high. read more

Came in for food and drinks on a Sunday evening. It wasn't too packed...several people drinking at the bar but only one other party there for dinner. The service was extremely slow to take our drink order, food order, and to bring out the food. They didn't really apologize for being slow and didn't even come to ask if we were doing okay. Since it's newly opened I would try it again.. Hopefully their service improves! On a good note...The jerk chicken kabobs are amazingly tasty and not overly spicy! read more

We got out first round of drinks and everything was fine. Then the 4 of us wanted to order food and after taking the first 2 of ours order the bartender asked to hold a card, in a very rude way, so rude that one of our party didn't order food because of it and the 4th person commended after about how rude it was. Also we ordered the crab cake appetizer and it didn't come out until AFTER all of our food. I was drinking slow but the 4th friend had to wait for over 20 minutes with an empty drink before the bartender came over to ask if she needed anything AND it wasn't even the bartender that had been serving us it was this other nice red headed and bearded bartender who noticed. read more

Good food selection and tasty. Nice atmosphere, but they overcharge on a regular basis. This is now the third time I've been overcharged compared to the specials that we are told when we sit down. Today was told it's "flatbread Friday" and all flatbreads are only $10. when I received the bill - the flatbread was regular price. To top it off - my friend and I ordered a salad to split along with the flatbread. We ordered a lunch sized salad which according to the menu was $8 - and I asked with one exception, to have a mango vinaigrette dressing instead of the Caesar. When I got the bill - my salad was $15 and a $2 upcharge for the dressing change - which was a rip off because there was so much dressing on the salad I didn't even eat most of the salad because it was over-dressed. Needless to say after being overcharged 3 times it's the last time I'll be visiting there. read more

Stopped in here after the bloody mary festival and had some great cocktails and cool food in a speakeasy kind of location from a great bar staff! Did i get all the adjectives in there? Short story: I loved it! Get a dark and stormy and you wont be disappointed. The boiled peanuts are delicious and even better cajun, but be ready because they ARE spicy! I came here last weekend after being at an incredibly loud bar down the road. It was incredibly refreshing to be somewhere I could actually converse with people. I almost never gravitate to the juke box, but they had a great selection which was nice. The bartender was very nice and attentive. The only downside was he did give my bf's credit card to another patron which was unacceptable due to the fact it really was not very busy. He did give us each a free drink on the house, however this was a mistake that hopefully does not happen in the future. Great vibe, but I advise to not leave a tab there ..... read more

Been meaning to try this place for a while. Tucked off of Armenia in an unassuming building. Great decor and ambience. We came on a Friday night for drinks and dinner. I had two of their mixed drinks which were o-k at best. Expensive for what they were. The gimlet and the mojito. My mojito tasted like sprite. For dinner I had the salmon and caesar which was pretty good! My boyfriend on the other hand got the ribs which had next to zero meat on the bone. After commenting to the server, which he never EVER does, the manager came to the table and insisted that was how the dish was meant to be. Came here for the first time due to seeing all of the Bloody Mary pictures. The bloody Mary's were great, they use Zing Zang, and the slider menu is a great idea. Well I was looking forward this restaurant for a good brunch but was very disappointed. Not sure what the excuse for the poor service was. Our party of 6 waited for everything (meal- 1hr, drink refills had to track someone down, even had to ask for utensils to eat the food) and seldom dealt with the same staff twice. My food, the salmon Benedict was flavorful but served on a plate too small that the food slid off the edges of the plate when being cut. Others in the party were not so happy with their meals, voodoo shrimp and grits? Questionable -grits soft and creamy yes! Not a fried wedge. Sorry to say will not return. I first walk into the bar, me and my boyfriend, and immediately a patron says "oh it's getting to be about that time", but I shrug it off. Then we approach the bar and open a tab .. order patron because they don't have milagro and get the most watered down, cheap tequila tasting shots we've had since we were 21. We had ordered 6 shots and 2 drinks. Despite this we order another round of shots, still disgusting. We tip 10 on 80 because our bartender was sitting at the bar drinking but couldn't seem to make us a good drink. The other bartender was pretty nice. But then our bartender says "they only tipped me $10 after all of those shots" and the 'nice bartender' says "I could've told you that". This is what being a black person is like. Or for me, having a black boyfriend is like. Judged as soon as we walked in the door, given horrible service, then ridiculed for tipping according to our service. Never ever going back. I've been multiple times and had no issue but tonight I bring my boyfriend to enjoy a new place and this is what we get. read more
