We tried this place on a family night out and was pleasantly surprised at how good the wine was and the food. The crab cakes are perfect as well as the mozzarella sticks. I also got salmon for my entree and was amazed by the flavor. The only knock I would have is that my mother-in-law ordered blackened salmon for her salad and it was not fully cooked. Only reason I gave a 1 star was because there wasn't an option for 0 stars. If you're looking for a bar/restaurant run by an incompetent unprofessional and slightly creepy owner then Look no farther. Long story short a group of us went here on New Years Eve just after midnight for a couple drinks to end the night. A couple of us got our first round when a guy ran up to us (later found out he is the owner) saying there was a private party that was just finishing up and if we wanted to stay our only option was a $40 all you can drink. He was slightly rude at this point but it's New Years Eve and he was sweating profusely so I gave him a pass. We really weren't trying to get #turntup so this didn't seem like a good deal but we were already there and didn't want to navigate to a new bar, so we started shelling out our 40 bones. I thought we were all squared away. Nope. He came back over and said he "wasn't sure about the $40 dollar deal and we just aren't setup to be a bar". He seemed like he was having a mild to severe panic attack, so I ignored the stupidity of him saying we aren't setup to be a bar when that is the sole purpose of your place of business. He made it seem like we pulled a fast one on him with the $40 deal when it was his idea. I tried explaining that we had 12 people that had paid, or were about to pay, 40 each and likely only get 1 or 2 drinks(in other words, you're about to make a good amount of money off us) That seemed to get his attention and he left us alone.....temporarily. It turns out he has the short term memory of an infant squirrel, because 2 minutes later he was heckling more members of our group about whether we paid. Again we went through the process of explaining we were just following his rules and were happy to work with him if they have changed. During this conversation he kept repeating he was the owner and they aren't setup to be a bar. He had effectively made everyone feel uncomfortable with his attitude and excessive sweating. Then to top off the night he sends over a large patron of the bar, not an employee, to tell us he wanted us to leave and he wasn't setup to be a bar. At this point we were happy to leave and wished we hadn't wasted part of our New Years Eve there. My advise to this wannabee business owner. If a group of people walk into your bar when you're having a private party, just tell them you're closed. Don't try and make up an all can drink deal, then get insecure that it wasn't a good deal, then heckle said group, then have one of your customers ask them to leave. My beef with Soho: there are so few good, chill bars with a good atmosphere- not filled with an overwhelming amount of... well South Tampa's finest 21-40 somethings. (i'm trying to word this as PC as possible). The solution: The Soho Backyard. SUCH a great atmosphere, a little gem on a stretch of road filled with overcrowded jerky BS. Food: Awesome (You've gotta try the tuna tartar. Seriously. I cannot say enough about the tuna tartar. It's drool worthy.). Serivce: Beautiful. Soho backyard is such a cool hidden spot in SOHO. It's basically in CVS's backyard so it doesn't have the normal south Howard crowd, but still has great drinks and delicious food. Came with some friends and got the grouper sliders and chips and queso and both were incredible! For a drink I got an Old Fashion which was reasonable priced and real delicious. The majority of their cocktails are pretty pricey and the menu is not large, but everything that they have is top notch. As far as the inside goes it's real cozy. They have lots of old pictures of Tampa up and all the other decorations are very trendy and unique. They have a couple dart boards and small little patio area that's covered. Parking is right on site and very accessible. If your not into the club scene and just want a fun place to go with friends Soho backyard is definitely the move! read more

This place is not a cocktail bar.... they dont have a cocktail list, but yes they have a full bar. The atmosphere is really nice and the bartender did the best she could to serve the entire place by herself. But the food is bad. The duck wings I did not enjoy and the flatbreads were more like very sad pizzas. Its such a shame because I really wanted to like this place. If you're looking to go out in the SoHo area but don't want to deal with college kids, this is what you're looking for. Oh my gosh. I love this place. My favorite part about it is how easy our is to miss, so it's a great little secret that's not overcrowded with the college kids. Cool little new place behind cvs on Armenia. Read the reviews and figured I'd check it out. The menu is fairly small, and directed towards foodies (don't be afraid, just try it!) and the service was great and very friendly. Everyone raves about the duck wings, and they truly are amazing. You gotta try em. The kitchen knows what they're doing. You can see them back there prepping the food and getting down to the music, a true sign that they're happy about what they're making. We came here twice this last weekend when in town - First was Friday night during the hockey game - it wasn't very packed to begin with, making it easy for our group of 8 to post up at a table outside. It was the end of 'ladies night' so after buying a round of drinks for everyone, plus the steak/caramelized onion flatbread (which was amazing), the total without tip was just around $40- a pleasant surprise and the bartender was super friendly! Second visit was Sunday around noon for brunch - it was very quiet which was fantastic and relaxing especially since we had our pup (yes, they're dog friendly!). Brunch menu is small but SO good. I got the shrimp n grits which were to die for plus bottomless mimosa, my boyfriend got the duck wings/french toast which he said was fantastic as well with a spicy bloody mary. It's pretty neat, you can get toppers of choice for your bloody mary! Our server for brunch was also wonderful, it always makes me happy when people love dogs as much as I do :) So basically, if we lived in the area, this would most certainly be a regular spot. read more

Finding this place was a little difficult. Maybe there should be a noticeable sign somewhere off the road. I did not see one. I was looking for a patio with a good Bloody Mary. This patio was hardly a patio but more of a covered sidewalk with really uncomfortable chairs and a slight view of the parking lot. I was also very excited about the adventurous Bloody Mary skewers. The skewers menu was still tucked inside the regular menu as though it was still available and the server then notified me that they are only offered at brunch. I was disappointed I did not get to try them. However the regular Bloody Mary was pretty outstanding on it's own. So tasty I had two of them. The stuffed figs on the menu described prosciutto wrapping the outside but it arrived with fatty bacon instead. I think figs are a little too sweet, I prefer dates prepared his way. The mahi tacos were pretty good and well seasoned but a little pricey. $14 for about 4oz of fish. read more

I read some reviews and the title gastro pub. I thought ooo a restaurant I've never been to. Well it was a bar I've never been to, lol. With a very diverse and delicious menu. I wish we had a server. The bartender waited on us. Service was rather slow and less attentive than I would have liked. I went in need of a drink or water refill more than 1x. I also ate my asparagus sans fork, cause he didn't check in and I didn't have silverware. The asparagus was delicious though. The atmosphere was cute. The drink prices make sense for the area. I had the Monte christo and my friend had the Truman burger. Both dishes were amazing. The burger was huge and cooked to perfection. Same with my sandwich. Excellent service! Came in on a Sunday and Hana was our server. She was very attentive and provided excellent food and drink selections. Although not crowded, the atmosphere was welcoming and would definitely recommend. I have only been to brunch. Their salmon cake Benedict is tasty and you get all you can drink mimosas for $10 from 11-2pm which is a great deal. You can also build an insane Bloody Mary with sliders, duck wing, lobster, etc (see picture). They don't have nfl package but will have a game on that's on the main channels. They have a well manicured menu of trendy bar food and the place is decorated very uniquely which IMO combine to create a "gastro pub" styled venue. The management seem to be friendly and the bar tenders do a pretty good job of keeping drinks in hands. However all wine glasses were $5, so we were satisfied. We ended up each getting the grilled romaine salad which was excellent and huge, the blue cheese they use on it was incredible and creamy! We probably could have shared one but we ended up each getting our own. We sat at the bar and the first bartender approached us and got our initial drinks and then we never saw him again.
