Experience - saw this place while heading to iFLY and decided to get some food before heading out with the wife. Walked in and there are a few guests inside and a very hipster hippy vibe going on. The cashier is right when you walk in and she didn't make any contact with us thou. We ordered 2 sandwiches, a soup and a smoothie for fine in. We take a seat and about 5 minutes later we have our food. It is 2 sandwiches in some foil and a cup of soup in a coffee like cup and our smoothie in a normal plastic clear cup. The crew was pretty quiet did make much interaction with guests or fellow co workers. The place is kinda small so they kept to the back when no one was ordering. We finished our meal and off we went. Experience was pleasant and entertaining. Menu - so this place is mostly a juice bar or smoothie bar, whatever you want to call it. They advertise food but most of the menu is beverages. Seeing the decor outside of "real food" we were expecting more actual food items. No biggie thou. They had like 4 sandwiches to choose and 9 soups ( with a name like this you better lol ). But the beverage side was very large and varied. They have a big variety of smoothies you can have and they are even separated by how complex the smoothies are. That is cool. The names of the complex smoothies are really funny. They also serve pre made salads and some organic bottled beverages. Shots of wheatgrass, etc... Very nice menu if you are looking for some intense smoothies. Ambience - this place is a hipster hippie tree hugging loving fight the corporation sunshine kinda place. From the food, ingredients, decor and even cups this place is an eco friendly hipster juice bar. The cups are 100% compostable and everything made from recyclables. The pictures on the wall of Buddhism or Hindi or Taoism. Even the crew has the same vibe. There was even a dude working with his super awesome large handlebar mustache and tank top. Hell yeah. The trashcans are even labeled "landfill" and "recycle" Me and the wife kinda felt a little out of place since we didn't arrive in a biodiesel vehicle or on a bicycle. Lol anyways, this is a very earth friendly and health conscience smoothie bar. Food - We got a turkey green pesto sandwich, a sundried tomatoe pesto pepperoni sandwich, the green goddess soup and the tropical smoothie. Like mentioned before the menu items are hipster and all natural and made from scratch. The sandwiches were good, pepperoni was a lot better than most I have had and the pesto on both were great. Only downside to the sandwiches is that the bread they use is large. So there is way to much bread that sometimes you miss the main attraction of the pesto. But it was still enjoyable otherwise. The soup, love the name, was a broccoli, rice, spinach, kale, and some other things I forgot. But it was great. You can tell they make the soup themselves. It definitely had a different texture and consistency than a soup in a bag or can. Very green man....yeah mon. And the smoothie we got had mango banana kale pineapple and one other thing I think. I'm not a smoothie snob or expert but it was good. It was green mon. Lol. The taste was pleasant and very enjoyable, the wife loved it, but it had a little too much banana in my opinion as it kinda overpowered the rest. Plus they have a ton of other smoothies so there is bound to be something for everyone. Value - So we spent $25 on 2 sandwiches, a medium soup and large smoothie. The sandwiches were $5 each so that wasn't bad considering the small nature of the sandwich. For the amount I spent I don't feel like it was all worth that amount. Now if I had just gone in for a smoothie then absolutely. This places main thing is the smoothies and the soups. They have a nice variety of soups with funny names. It is a little overpriced in my opinion but everything they use is local, organic, healthy, gluten free and blessed by whatever deities they have hanging from their walls. OVERALL - if you are looking for a hearty meal this is not quite the place. If you want a good healthy soup or a dank smoothie then heck yea. Come share your feelings and become enlightened with their beverages. These guys are about as hipster or hippie as they come. And I mean that in no disrespect. I give mad props for all the organic and fresh ingredients. If I crave a smoothie that is green and healthy then this is where I'll go. This place is way better than Juiceland by a long shot. I have no problem tipping, I always do 20%. at soup peddler 20% is 30%. this a dark pattern and think its probably illegal. if you are going to auto-grat, which I'm all for, then you should clearly state it. be upfront with your customers about what their being asked to pay for. read more

I love the soup peddler! Great soup and awesome juice and smoothies. I usually get the Rip Torn (I get the small, but they inadvertently make more and just upgrade me to the larger size!) and as for soup, I've tried muligatawny, tomato basil, green goddess etc. and I have loved them all. You get complimentary crackers/french baguette (usually at lunch time) with your soup, which is very thoughtful. They also have stumptown cold brew bottles (no cream) and cartons (with cream) , and its just the best coffee you will drink! Also a variety of salads and wraps and other foods for you to eat! A super sweet person picked up some soups for me since I've been dealing with the flu and brought them to me. It was a nice gesture, unfortunately it did not pay off since one of our soups had an inedible item in it! Only to be discovered once inside the mouth! Bleh :-/ yep that's right, a label twisty tie was lodged inside the soup. This was no small item either. 4 soups for $25 plus an inedible object inside one of the soups? Super fail. On a cold, drizzly afternoon in Austin, nothing sounded better than warm soup and a grilled cheese. I had been looking for a reason to try The Soup Peddler because of the great reviews. I had the basil pesto and provolone sandwich with a small cup of tomato basil soup. I would have liked to have basil pesto and mozzarella, but no substitutions can be made because the sandwiches are all pre-made. Bummer. The sandwich was good, but could have used a little bit more cheese. It had about the equivalent of a Kraft singles slice. The upside, it was nice and stretchy and melty. The flavor of the pesto was nice as well. The tomato soup was good as well, but not great. It tasted fresh, but maybe lacked a little depth of flavor. Maybe I just prefer homemade. The restaurant was a little busy when I got there, but there is no excuse for dirty, empty tables, in my opinion. They weren't grossly dirty, but littered with crumbs, a few napkins, newspaper, a bag of crackers and even when things slowed down, no one came out to clean them. First, the good: The staff is friendly enough. The grilled cheese is excellent. The juices are also very good (I particularly like the Moonage Daydream). Now, the not-so-great: This place is way too small. They are very busy at lunch and the lack of places to sit and eat is annoying. The table layout is awful. The tables are jammed up against the wall and are too big, making it impossible to sit and eat without inadvertently joining a stranger for lunch. Additionally, it's really bothersome to spend $15 on a juice and a sandwich and have to stand and wait for 20 min to get your food. Overall I'd say quality is a 9/10, service is 5/10 (due to the wait) and ambiance/layout is a 2/10. Lastly, when you pay that much for a drink, it should be full. About 8 oz of the 24 was foamy, and when the foam settled there was noticeably less to drink. I want to like this place more, but it needs improvement. read more

Came in with my boyfriend for the first time to try a sandwich and salad. The woman ringing us up had gloves on, and after handling the customers in front of us and our transaction went right to making our sandwiches in the same gloves. I politely reminded her to change her gloves, to which she responded 'Huh?' and I explained she just touched our money and the register. She puts on a clean pair of gloves and proceeds to make our sandwiches. A minute later she goes outside to tell the other customer their order is ready, then goes back to fix our sandwiches. All while wearing those same gloves she opened the door with. We just stood there kind of in shock. We asked for our money back and to please cancel the order, to which the woman asked 'is something wrong?' We explained our concerns about the hygiene issues and got our refund. Went to the Soup Peddler for the first time ever! Absolutely loved what I had today I had a pesto and arugula cheese sandwich and a cup of tomato basil soup! It's really good! I'll be going back for sure! The staff was great as well - hated we couldn't eat in and really irritated about wearing a mask but this will pass if it doesn't these businesses won't make it because we the people want convenience and so far convenience is not happening! I like this location a lot more than the one down south. Parking is good and much cleaner. The service is quick as always and it doesn't hurt that when you check in you get $1 off your smoothie. **Dog friendly alert** We go most places with one of our Sheps, finding a place with a patio isn't always the easiest. Small bistro tables and chairs made this a perfect spot for a healthy lunch. Great experience. Soups were delicious and hot, bursting with flavor. Smoothies were so yummy, with so many different options to choose from. The fresh made salads were so refreshing. We drive by this place quite often and after some co-worker's mentioning how good the place is, we finally decided to check it out! Fiance and I both ordered the 18oz smoothies (Business Time & Fixie) and split a sandwich and small Tomato Basil soup. Though we both agreed everything was delicious, we were quite surprised how expensive it all was though. Business Time was good, but I don't suggest getting a large. I got the smaller size and I still couldn't finish it due to the bite from caffeine. Fixie, my fiance enjoyed this quite a bit. I, who doesn't like cucumber enjoyed the taste as the cucumber wasn't overwhelming. I don't know if we will go again. I drive by the new north location on my way to work, and have been watching the sign waiting for it to open. Well folks, today was the day! The girls behind the counter are happy to let you taste all the soups. They are ALL delicious, which leads to a problem....which one should I get??? This is a great place for a simple lunch. They offer a wide variety of smoothies (divided into three tiers), 4 soups with 2 rotating flavors, and some sandwiches. They also sells bags of soup and prepared salads. I had their turkey cilantro pesto sandwich as well as a small strawberry watermelon juice. My boyfriend ordered the Caldo Verde soup, the pepperoni sandwich, and the Busy Bee smoothie. Sandwiches were simple and good. You can sample soups if you're not sure which to get too! Four of the soups are permanent and two are rotating. They had a chilled soup option which was interesting. The smoothies are thicker than your usual smoothie though so be aware! They don't add any sugar or anything! It's all fruit. :) For that reason, the smoothies are a little pricey at nearly $7-9 for their second and third tier smoothies. read more

Your online ordering is not mobile friendly and you guys frequently don't answer your phone. Having seamless order to go experience is the new standard and you guys are falling behind. I have given this feedback before and employees justify not answering the phone by saying they were too busy to answer phone but there was 2 customers in the phone. It was a dark and stormy night. There was a flash flood warning playing on the radio; driving the 183 North, homebound, was stressing me out. She wanted hot soup to offset the frigid AC temps she'd endured the whole ride in slow rains. (Austin traffic is brutal when it rains. Google it.) We enter, and the friendliest, authentic Austinite took my order. How could I tell he was an authentic Austinite? Not sure. But he reaked of mellow, nonchalant friendliness and organic goods. This is usually a sign that one is either from here or has been here long enough to hide among the locals. We had the: Chicken soup with rice. Kid thinks it's good but a little bland. Mulligatawny soup. Spicy, potatoey, lentilly, curry-ey goodness. Grilled cheese sandwiches. We had to have something as cheesy as this review. It needed more butter. I asked for a lot of butter, dude did not deliver. Major dissapoint. Was still pretty good tho. Next time I will use more eye contact and emphasize the "EXTRA BUTTAH Y'ALL." Super Baked Cookie. Zomg this was the stuff. Not a fan of sweets but this had all the elements that make baked goods worth eating. They have bomb juices and smoothies. Didn't get that this visit. Highly recommend them. What a great little nugget in NW Austin! This place kept popping up on my yelp searches & i always passed it up as i thought i wanted something heartier than soup. Now im regretting not coming here sooner. The place is spic & span, very clean. I ordered the pesto provolone grilled sandwich & the mulligatawny soup. The gentlemen delivered both to my table, then said "i over toasted your sandwich, so i have another one coming out to you". Wow, that is customer service! I would not have figured it was over toasted until he brought me out another one at no charge. Very happy withy experience here and will be back. I looooove the home made soups here-haven't tried the smoothies but they look amazing. I am a huge soup fan so this place is one of my local favorites. However, it's hard to see a place that is making such health conscious food but still using single use plastics (cups and straws) for smoothies and water. PLEASE consider the impact on our planet and move to recyclable paper cups. You have a recycle bin in the restaurant but hardly anything is in it. The soup selection is outstanding! Lots of vegan/vegetarian friendly options, but also great choices for meat lovers. They do up a decent sandwich, but more importantly, fabulous smoothies. Love that they have an online ordering system - mega bonus points for that. They offer plenty of parking in the front and back of the their establishment, and even have outdoor seating in the front and back as well.
