Where do I begin. Okay so the atmosphere was great. We sat outside with a great view of the bay. The staff was friendly and courteous. Now let's talk about the food. The butterfly fried shrimp wasn't deveined. It wasn't that good to begin with but that made it even worse. The fries and onion rings tasted okay to me but my wife wasn't a fan. My wife like the steak sandwich but I found the ribeye to be a little fattier than it should be. The beer was good and cold but the Pina Colades were not that good. It was served in a coconut, which was cool. But they used cheap rum. It had more of a vodka taste than rum which is a shame. read more

This is our favorite place to eat in Galveston! My husband and I always have at least one meal here every time we visit the Island. We split the King Burger (YUMMY!!!) and the Shrimp Kisses (DOUBLE YUMMY!!!) most every time. I highly recommend avoiding this place. It should have been a red flag that as soon as we walked in, the place looked dirty. The tables and menus were sticky and the service took forever. It took one hour for our water to be delivered to the table. Now, the food...The shrimp tasted old and I immediately got sick. I did not finish even half of the meal because I got sick within minutes of eating it. The group that I was with felt the same way. There were 5 of us and no one finished the food. The service was terrible, as I mentioned before. We had no water for an hour and received no sauces for our fried seafood. The food was soggy and had absolutely no taste. We could not get a hold of our waitress for the entirety of our meal. Overall, terrible service, hygiene, and food. The food was good but service left a lot to be desired. It wasn't very busy and Michelle forgot a few things we asked for and didn't really check on us while we were there. That would have been fine because the drinks and food were so good but at the end of our meal we asked for an even split which came out to $25/$35 the first time and $29/$31 the second time. The Spot offers a great location for a beer and a burger with friends. However, a few items to discuss: 1. This is the most odd setup of a restaurant / bar I have ever seen. If all you want is a burger and a beer, you have to go to two different restaurants / bars within one big restaurant / bar. (just try - you'll see). 2. The parking - gets to be an issue in peak season, just prepare and try to come during the not-so-busy hours in the peak season to avoid long waits and waiting on parking. 3. The service - not the best. I have been to all of the "portions" of this restaurant and have yet to find good, attentive, and friendly service. All that being said, if you can figure out what to order where, the burgers/sandwiches are good and the pricing of the menu for it's location is outstanding. Milkshakes are homemade and delicious and the burgers/sandwiches come plain with a condiments bar located near the food pickup area (order at counter). I still come here most visits down to Galveston - but the layout/dynamics of the place still confuse me. read more

Overall the place was very enjoyable, good atmosphere, fresh food and great view of the beach. Getting inside is a little confusing and the place feels like a wacky treehouse. Briny and crunchy with a side of good ranch for dipping. I ordered the fish and shrimp Po boy and my other half the chopped salad. The Po boy was on a soft roll while the seafood was crunchy without having too much breading. There was so much seafood I had a plate of fried goodness when I was done! Get extra tartar sauce. I had been researching the spot for months before traveling to Galveston. I understood that it was a grab and go restaurant that also had a few bars attached to it. If you were to order food at he bar, they only have a limited menu, which was fine with us. When we arrived, the layout made a little more sense. The bars are all attached, however it's a little difficult if you want to order a rum drink at the tequila bar. We went on a Saturday night and it was packed. We tried to find a seat. We wanted to be able to watch a US soccer game vs Mexico, but it was impossible to find a seat near a Tv. Oh well. After milling around for awhile, we found seats in the tequila bar. I had been dreaming of mojitos for days and our waitress was amazing. She would run upstairs to the rum bar and grab mojitos for me, while the rest of our party drank margaritas and tequila shots. The food was pretty good. It's nice to be able to order at your table. I ran into the actual restaurant area to use the restroom and would not have been happy with the grab and go service there. Much better experience in the bar. I would go back, mostly for the drinks which were tasty. read more

I'm pretty sure most people just come here to say they've been. Our food came room temperature to lukewarm. My friend paid $24 for shrimp and found shell in one of them. The waitstaff is overall pretty rude and unwelcoming, they need to work on their tone when talking to customers. They are doing a horrible job at social distancing for COVID-19. The restaurant is packed and so is the bar. Only gave them 2 stars because of the nice view outside upstairs. read more

We stayed in Galveston the night before our cruise left. We arrived around 7pm and the dining options are limited at that time. We wanted something we couldn't eat in Dallas and decided on The Spot. Like several previous reviewers stated it is hard to figure out where to go and the menu being at the door then having to find where you want to order is a bit disorganized. We had Chase take our order and he was very friendly and outgoing. The multiple beepers was weird. One for the chips & salsa that were "delivered to us" (not that great) and then one for the rest of our meal that we had to go get ourselves. Kids meals were good, fish & chips was ok (a bit over fried) and the ribeye sandwich had to be sent back. Was ordered medium but came out rare. They didn't give any attitude when we asked for it to be re cooked and someone even came back and checked on us when they had to do that. Watching the staff interact it's clear that organization is not their strong suit. The place was only about half full so I'm curious to see what it's like when it's jam packed. All in all - the decor is unique, the staff is friendly. It didn't wow us but it wasn't horrible either. I like to think I'd go back now that I know what to expect. read more

Five food orders made. Fish Tacos and Shrimp Tacos. Coconut Shrimp. My order (Spicy Shrimp Tacos) was made last (2:47) along with a cheeseburger and fries. My order came out first 3:25; my name was called on loud speaker. The other four food orders never had their names called and had to go up to inquire about food around 3:45. Their drinks are of course way over priced and have very little alcohol, I'm looking at you, house margarita! The food is way over priced too for what you get. The food was amazing. I had the shrimp po boy, and it was well fried and the shrimp was not over cooked. My friend had a burger and it was really juicy. It also came out in a very timely manner. I also appreciated seeing some staff cleaning window seals from the birds. The issues we had were that our drinks were not made right. It was very strong poured. Mine tasted of straight bottom self tequila and rubbing alcohol. My friend's was meant to be a spicy Rita, the bottom of the glass was full of jalapeño seeds. Of course couldn't taste anything else but the awful burn. Tried to send it back and the staff was rude and offered nothing else. After which our table was avoided, we had to flag our server to get a check. She was more attentive to the party of 15 then our party of 2. The manager did remove my drink from the bill. We tried a different "venue" in the bar and still had over poured drinks, and the margaritas came in an old fashion glass. The description suggested a 20oz in a shareable glass but no such luck. We went for a late lunch on 12/30/22. Ordered 3 hamburgers and, fish and chips and a milkshake. One of the burgers was to have onion rings instead of fries. After waiting about 20 minutes for the milkshake and then 50 minutes for our food it came out cold, the onion rings arrived after the meal was finished.
