Shrimp and Grits with Fried Green Tomatoes
    Jean S.

The first night I ate at the Stackstone Grill, I had wonderful and efficient service. I ordered the barbeque shrimp and grits with fried green tomatoes. The grits were amazing - creamy and smooth. The shrimp and tomatoes were just all right. I typically find restaurant food to be overly salty, but I actually had to salt the fried green tomatoes. I returned for another meal during my stay at the Marriott, and it was much less stellar. The service was rushed and spotty, and we kept getting pushed to order more drinks. Speaking of drinks, after ordering a mojito, my co-worker was told they have no mint. So, she ordered a margarita that was so weak, all she could taste was the sour margarita mix. Glad I stuck with wine. I had the Marriott burger, and she had the chicken quesadilla - both were typical of bar fare.

I have worked in the nearby area for over 5 years and never knew about this place. So sad. I had a work meeting and gave my dining partner the option of a few places around this location. She picked The Stackstone Grille. Perfect! We arrived late in the lunch hour, but no worries. I ordered the cobb salad and she ordered wings. My salad was the perfect size and tasted great. My dining partner also enjoyed her lemon pepper wings. She said it had good flavor and was a great for a light lunch. We stayed for a quite a while (a decent amount of time after they were closed for lunch), but never felt rushed by the staff. They let us be. And service, overall, was great. I will definitely be back.

This is located inside the hotel I was staying at. I had the ribs since I was in Atlanta. You know the diet of Southerners. BBQ, sweet tea, sweet potatoes, etc. The night I was dining here, there was a Crackheads Anonymous support group gathering. No joke.

    Turkey Burger and fries

Just okay...I was here back in November of 2015 and I ordered a turkey burger from the bar to take upstairs to my hotel room with me. The bartender wasn't that attentive and messed up my order. The Turkey Burger itself was okay. I probably wouldn't order it again though.

We weren't sure about staying because of the sign out front that warned us about looters but we went in and sat down. Malinda our server came right over was friendly and we talked about the menu. She waited until I was ready cause it took me a while to decide because the menu looks pretty good altogether. I ordered the blackened shrimp Cajun fries and my friend ordered the salmon.. we both ordered salads.. small salads... And the food came the portions were very large and the food was just great. It was seasoned well. It was cooked well and it was hot where it should been hot and where should've been cold.. We had just a wonderful time and I would recommend this place and I'll recommend that you get Malinda as your server because she is great! Anybody who needs a good lunch or dinner in Atlanta should try out BenchWarmers on Claremont Road in Atlanta!!

Charging stations (plugs) available as well. Walk up counter, place order, wait for your number to be called. Do not be in a rush- made-to-order!! Worth the wait!!! If you are not starving- split a meal with a friend- portions are huge & truly DELICIOUS!!! Ask for sauces, if you want. They have tartare, cocktail & homemade hot sauces. Fresh lemons too. Pepsi products, sweet/unsweetened tea... NO ALCOHOL! Outstanding employees! All so nice! Big menu- ask for one if needed, they have scrolling screens & it is hard to figure out. Food notes: * Beignets: Delicious starter for groups or anyone with a sweet tooth (kids love them too). * Short Rib Hash: Hearty, flavorful, and always great. * Omelette Specials: My usual go-to. Just wish the kitchen would consistently catch that I'm lactose intolerant and need no cheese. The center can also be a bit underdone, especially when I order egg whites -- but flavor-wise, still love it. * Ham Benedict: Solid classic. * Steak & Eggs: Disappointing the one time we tried it -- especially given the price point. * The Big Nasty: Legit comfort food, but would love if it came on a biscuit instead of a soft bun (or if there was an option to swap). * Breakfast Potatoes: Extra crispy with onions -- I personally love them, but some might find them a touch too dark Drinks: * Coffee menu is limited -- just drip, cappuccino, and double espresso, with cream as the only option. * Would love to see non-dairy milk options and better coffee quality overall -- we've skipped brunch a few times because of that. Service & vibe: * Always attentive and friendly. * Really appreciated the thoughtful touch during our last visit -- they surprised my husband with a brownie for his birthday and brought me a dairy-free dessert so I wasn't left out. All in all, Haven remains one of our favorite casual-yet-upscale brunch spots -- just a few tweaks away from being perfect.

They kept the spicy margaritas flowing, and let me tell you those drinks have just enough kick to make you rethink your life choices in the best way possible. Now, let's talk about this food, because I'm pretty sure I heard angels singing. The Fried Wings were fried to such perfection I'm convinced the chef has a PhD in crunch-ology. The Yams! These sweet potatoes were clearly touched by the Candy Lady herself. I don't know if it's sugar or magic, but I'm addicted. The Mac and Cheese! It was so perfect I almost asked it to marry me. My husband, went the "responsible" route with the baked turkey wing, green beans, and yellow rice. That turkey was falling off the bone like it was tired of being an overachiever, and the green beans had more flavor than my entire childhood. Even the rice was seasoned like it had a point to prove. Bottom line: If you're looking for us, we'll be here. This isn't just a meal, it's a spiritual experience. If "Soul Food" is the question, this place is the only answer.

I do use AI to write these easily, so pardon the clunkiness lol…read more The Food The menu here is a really cool take on elevated yet comfortable Southern food. After a few visits, I've tried a good variety of the menu: * **Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich:** This is served open-face and uses a mix of Sichuan and Calabrian chili. It is absolutely amazing, but fair warning: it is *hot*. Even if you're used to Sichuan spice, this one may still be tough to deal with, but it's still incredibly flavorful and enjoyable. Just keep in mind that they don't adjust the heat level for this one. * **The Greens:** These are wonderful. They have a rich, savory pork flavor and are easily a must-order for me every single time. * **Shrimp and Grits:** This has a fantastic sauce that strikes the perfect balance--not too heavy, but not watery either. My only minor wish is that they'd add some andouille sausage to it (even if raised the price), but it's still a really well-executed dish. * **Southern Pho:** Really great and super hearty. It's a comforting bowl, though probably best enjoyed during the winter months. * **Drinks:** The cocktails are always creative and well-made, and they keep a really interesting beer list on hand too. ### 2. The Ambience The vibe here is great. The interior feels like a charming, cozy little house you'd find in Savannah. I especially love the bar area, which has these really cool copper chandelier lights that give the space a warm, inviting glow. ### 3. The Service The staff has been consistently friendly and welcoming every single time I've been here. The Summary I honestly feel lucky to live close to this place.
