Mom and I have been coming here for lunch every time we have a show at the Pasadena Playhouse. By far our favorite place for lunch. We've had most things on the menu that's to our diets (basically little to no meat); and everything is amazing. The Tuna sandwich is a real winner for both of us, always make it a melt! Excellent tuna salad, a delight for each bite and so much of it! Be sure to come hungry or be prepared to box it up. Salads are amazing but even the side salad is just as big. On a day you're feeling a little less and wanting just greens, highly recommend one of the salad. Fresh ingredients, large enough to be a meal alone, they're basically perfect. And when in doubt, make your own sandwich! They make it easy to see all the options and it comes out exactly as requested. Make sure to ask for their pickles, they come in portioned containers and are delish! Excellent snap, not sour or sweet just that happy medium between. Fires are always a must but hands down, get the sweet potato and a side dip of your choice, trust me. Service is excellent, from ordering to bringing the food to being quick with fixing the drink machine. It can get a bit loud inside with a lot of people but it's still easy to hear company. Tables can be shared so don't be afraid to sit at someone else's table or head outside if it's nice out! Parking validation is offered for the garage too. read more

I built my own burger. Cheddar cheeseburger with pickles and mushrooms. Also added small fries and a beer. Grand total $30. Burger was so greasy I needed a pile of napkins. The grease didn't improve the flavor, only made it messy to handle. Nothing special here...I won't be back. Service was great! read more

There's soo many places to eat nearby and forgot about the stand when I was craving a burger! I got the blue burger (blue cheese with arugula and bacon medium) with a small side of onions which was a little under than 25$. No extra fee for a side of ranch. This was through DoorDash. Not realizing how close it is, I'll definitely be back to try their salads and get the Blue burger again! read more

Stopped by for our first time before a movie. Burgers and chips had so much flavor. Chimichurri steak salad is a must have. Made perfectly with just the right amount of tang. With enough seating inside and outside they could accommodate a lunch rush. Kinda threw me for a loop as they tell you to leave your plates on the table and they will clean up your mess. I will definitely be back and will highly recommend to friends. read more

I've only ordered for delivery from this place but I've been satisfied with my food every time. The Fire Fries are soooo good. Everything I've tried has been so good. Incredible service, large portions, very flavorful and filling. This is a place that will happily do substitutions and make customizations, which is perfect for your picky friends (guilty). We had: - jalapeno bacon burger: very good, rich and filled with fried onions! - chimichurri steak salad: very flavorful and large, i wish it would've come with some avocado and chunkier steak bits - ahi tuna salad: could've used another piece of ahi tuna but it was a good sauce to salad ratio - short rib grilled cheese: SO good and very rich - cookie butter crunch milkshake: highly recommend, it's not too sweet and i would get it again - cookies and cream milkshake: honestly so solid, i would still get it again I would come back for the french onion soup burger and to see if it was just a bad day for fries, but otherwise I would recommend if you're ever craving burgers or misc. diner food! read more

The Stand continues to be amazing. I always get the chimichurri steak salad with double steak and the charred corn vinaigrette haunts my dreams (in a good way). There's so many delicious options, I love that you can eat healthy AND delicious food here, as well as go crazy and have your best treat yo self days here. Pretty much everyone there has always been really friendly and nice to me. Adrian is the best! (shoutout to Adrian!) And the inside is nice and clean (yes even the bathrooms ). I look forward to coming in. I love that you can see the chefs making the food if you sit at the little bar area. They do such a great job ^-^ This all has been consistent for YEARS, which is why I've been going for years. Food is delicious - I especially love the options to customize your order. It's also a great location, so it would be a good option if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a casual and filling spot. My first meal of 2025 bc it was surprisingly open on new year's day! I ordered the stand burger and it was delicious. Such good flavor. Their fries were the perfect slightly salty addition. The Stand makes a consistently tasty burger and fries. I like that you can add just about anything to your burger, but I like to keep mine classic and simple. This location is large with tables outside as well. It's quick casual but just a step up from fast food. You order at the counter and your food is brought out to you which can take a little while, but they give you pickles to enjoy while you wait. read more

Free parking validation for 75 min at the Playhouse Parking lot. Lots of outdoor seating as well as tables inside with music ambiance. Staff was friendly, fast, and quick with the food. They had a bogo deal so we got the stand burger ($9.75), regular fries ($3.75), and lemonade ($3.95). The burger was delicious and filling. Definitely impressed! It's about time there's a place with great food choices ie; burger meats, salads apps bowels soups etc. Our first time we thought to good to be true but it is. All the food is tasty and good portions. I can bring my whole family and not break the bank. Their points program is on your phone making it easy and they give you money back, WTH! The workers are super friendly. I thought maybe it was just one store but NO it's all of them. They keep the place super clean. They bus the tables immediately and bring you whatever extra sauces you may want for no extra charge. We come here 2-3 times a week and I have tried almost everything on the menu. Would give zero stars if able. Went in to purchase 2 fountain drinks. Cashier did not greet us and told my wife and I that we had cut in line. The couple (the one that we "cut") behind us even acknowledged that that was not true. Waitress handed us our drinks and said "here it makes my life easier". Very disappointing service. read more

Nice place to go to before a show at the playhouse right across the street. There's indoor and outdoor dining, it was a bit chilly inside with the fans going but not terrible. Solid spot for burgers!! The meat patties are thick and juicy, super flavorful toppings and sauces too. Loved all the different drinks and shake options, like cookie crumble shake, root beer/orange floats. Onion rings were a hit, however they don't have any sauce for it, nothing out in the open for you to help yourself too either (napkins, water, utensils, sauces, etc.). Service was good. We visit The Stand at least once a month. I always get the Southwest Chicken Wrap, my son always gets the kids burger with cheese and fries, my husband changes it up. I think he's tried every burger and the ahi tuna sandwich. He's French and very picky when it comes to eating at restaurants. I tried the stand burger and the chimichurri steak salad, both 10/10. The stand burger is no frills, just a good burger. I did add cheese to it though, it does not come with. The steak salad blew me away. I hate salad but this one was refreshing, meaty, and fun. Would 1000% get it again. This is more of a fast casual place where you order at the counter but they do bring it to your seat. Service was great, place was clean, adding to my favorites! read more

I was craving a grilled chicken sandwich, so i went on Yelp and found this place with good reviews and it is only 10 minutes away from my house so i said why not? Walking in i was greeted by multiple workers which is always nice. I was asked if i had any questions about the menu and to take my time. Which is again nice to not feel rushed. Once i ordered, the cashier was very nice and it was just a good experience overall. My chicken sandwich was good and flavorful. I did switch out arugula for shredded lettuce. My daughter got the Mac and cheese and she enjoyed it. Their ranch is really good. It has a garlicky taste to it. I saw someone say they mix their blue berry lemonade and cucumber like aqua fresca so i did that and it was soooo yummy and refreshing. I definitely will come back to try a burger someday!!! read more

Perfect char on burger Service - very slow. On a Sunday at 1:30 pm, took 20 minutes to get our burger and macaroni cheese. We barely made it to the 2 pm Show at Pasadena Playhouse. And yes, our fault for getting here 30 minutes before the show but there was only one person in front of us and again it is a burger (one burger) and we can practically see all the cooks - probably 6 of them. They said they had a lot of to go orders. Anyway, lesson learned, this is definitely not fast food so allow time. read more

Came here a year ago and it was fantastic. I think I had rather onion stack burger andI loved it. 5 stars Last week, ordered a double ABC burger with avocado wrapped in lettuce. Was pretty good. Hardly could tell avocado was there. 4 stars Fries are very good. Lots of sauces to choose from. 4.5 stars Cookie butter crunch Milk shake was fantastic. 5 stars Service was very friendly. Ordered food to be delivered to work because life happens & I was in a scramble to find a last minute lunch. This was my first time trying the wrap and it definitely won't be the last! Friend introduced me to this burger place and we keep going back with new people! The burgers are amazing, the charred crispy no-quite-burnt-yet of a smash style patty on the outside, juicy and moist on the inside, and pink! Not a lot of burger places willing to risk serving a pink burger these days so this is a nice comfort for me. I like their build your own offering, I've narrowed down my preference to: Pretzel bun Stone ground mustard Grilled onions Red onions Mushroom mix Fried egg Tomato slice The fries and onion rings seem to be made in house, the texture on them doesn't seem the commercial frozen in kind especially the onion rings. However the portions are kind of small in my opinion when the large is near $8 the little tray doesn't seem very much. They're in a fast casual segment, you order the register and bring the number plaque to a table and wait for your order to be brought out and they say you can just get up and leave when you're ready they will bus away your table. Parking is right next to them driveway to underground parking structure, the flat rate is $5 but you can get a validation ticket from the staff at the Stand and its free for 75 minutes so you really don't have to worry about parking costs here. My friends and I have made a habit of coming here for a solid burger and I enjoy sipping on a new mix from the coke freestyle machine. This is now top of our list for burgers! read more

They say hello every time I enter, a detail I enjoy. I love going to The Stand before an evening at the Pasadena Playhouse, it's conveniently located just across the street so one parking spot does it!! Even though it's counter service, this is not fast food and I think my choices have rivaled fancier/expensive restaurants. I like the wraps. Maybe avoid the limp sweet potato fries. Be prepared to share a table, but it's a friendly crowd usually. read more

I'm a green salsa girl but I asked what I should go with and I was recommended the red one (the green one is supposedly spicier). First off the burger patty-- the patties are formed in-house. The cooked patties have that irregular edge that can only come from being hand-formed; imperfect and delicious. Their burgers are lovingly prepared and assembled with care. This is why whenever I go, there are always people there. Seating is strictly patio style, looking out onto the intersection of Altadena and Villa. There lot is small lot next to the stand. I'm not sure if it's shared with another business. I recently wrote a review about our initial visit to The Stand, which was less than satisfactory. In response, the owner reached out and offered to refund our full purchase price from that meal and invited us back for a complimentary second meal. We decided to take them up on their generous offer, and I am thrilled to report that our experience this time was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that significant improvements had been made. The restaurant was clean, the tables were cleared, and the fountain drink machine, which had been leaking on our previous visit, was functioning perfectly. It also contained plenty of ice. But most importantly, the food quality on this visit was outstanding. My girlfriend had the Grand Stand Turkey (roasted turkey breast, peppadew caraway spread, bacon, avocado, red onion, shredded lettuce, fresh dill on grilled organic sourdough) and I had the Big Blue (beef patty, blue cheese, grilled onions, bacon, tomato, arugula, BBQ sauce, on a gourmet brioche bun). We split an order of sweet potato fries and each had a fountain drink. Our total was $40.12 with tax, which was covered by the $40 gift card provided by The Stand. Each dish was prepared with care, and every bite was delicious. It was a complete turnaround from our last visit and exceeded our expectations in every way. I commend the owner and staff for their dedication to customer satisfaction and for making the necessary changes to enhance the dining experience. Adrian, the manager on duty, was kind, welcoming, and attentive and ensured we were satisfied and well taken care of. For us, The Stand has truly redeemed itself, and we will definitely be returning in the future. I recently ate at The Stand. First things first, parking is only available on the street, but you can park at some of the garages nearby. Not sure if it's free at the garage. The parking can be rather challenging. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the French Onion burger. Another standout for me is their shakes - the Cookies and Cream shake is a delightful, and the Biscoff/Cookie shake is also amazing. The Fire Fries also deserve a mention - they're great and add a nice kick to the meal. However, I must note that the quality at The Stand can be quite inconsistent. There are times when the food is absolutely amazing, making the meal an unforgettable experience. But then, there are other times when it's just okay, which can be a bit of a letdown, especially when you're expecting the same high quality every visit. Despite this, I plan to return to The Stand and am hopeful that the quality will become more consistent over time. When they get it right, it's a truly enjoyable dining experience. read more
