The service here is absolutely awful. It took nearly 30 minutes for the server to take our drink order and about another 15 minutes for them to come back for our food orders. This was during a time when they only had a handful of other patrons. In addition to that, they kept forgetting what we ordered and kept coming back for clarification. The waiter was taking orders on his hand, which was probably the reason for all the issues. In total it took about 2 hours for our food to arrive. And the food was not worth the wait. The Call Me Knighthawk cocktail was very tasty and packs a PUNCH. The tator tots were probably the best I've ever had in my life! They were great on their own, but the accompanying dipping sauce was a great compliment. Each tot was perfectly cooked to a crisp, with just the right amount of seasoning. Our bartender was awesome, was having a great time himself, and gave each person in our party the perfect drink recommendation based on their taste. They are also open late and very accommodating! Came in for my husband's 30th birthday, I wanted to make it a memorable experience and was going to buy us both glasses of Pappy Van Winkle. It was a weeknight, not super busy. We sat at the bar, there were other empty seats at the bar also. We sat for 20 minutes, trying to wave down the bartender or the server. The bartender was having a conversation about sports with another patron. We really were trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, even though we didn't get so much as a "hey I'll be with you in a moment." Then, another group of 3 came in, sat at the bar, and were served immediately. At that point we just left. We'd both tried waving and saying "excuse me" multiple times. Atmosphere here is a relaxed rustic BEND vibe. The bartenders and servers are always very friendly. The list of whiskey is quite long . There is a smaller food menu now since pre-pandemic . They have my favorite whiskeys and decent back-up choices if they're out. Taught me a lot about what I like. Their drinks are what I now look for elsewhere. Few places can even come close. I also love their sheepherders pie--which is more of a stew than a pie--but wish the flavors would stop changing. Maybe it depends on the chef, but sometimes it tastes (and looks) very different from when I had it last. I used to come get it all the time, but after the last two times when it was #1 missing a lot of the toppings and #2 tasted a lot sourer than usual, decided to stick with just appetizers for future reference. The stuffed mushrooms, sweet potato fries, and bourbon steak fingers are all fantastic choices for apps. One of the worst bar experiences I have ever had. I came with a group after a wedding rehearsal dinner. We were provided with one menu for our party of about ten. The waiter took most of our group's order but since we only had one menu he said he would come back to take the rest of the group's order and never did. After waiting for 30 minutes I went to order a water at the bar. I was carded for ordering a water, which I was surprised by. The bartender could clearly see that we were from out of town, but proceeded to rudely criticize my surprise at being carded for a water. I went to retrieve my ID and was again chastised by the bartender. We stopped here because it was about a block from where we stayed. Man, this was a find! i had the Daily Special - Whiskey Daisy. Yes, please... this was cool, crisp and tasty. My wife's Maker's Mark was a solid pour and served in the perfect glass. The server took the time to ask about our drink and what we thought of it. Great service. Tip - Fridays before 5p, there is lots of seating. We circled back around at 10p and we found the last two seats by sharing a table. The same server was working full speed and doing a great job. The fancy glasses must have been in the wash, as the second Whiskey Daisy came in a smaller glass with less ice - I preferred the first one. This place was the bees knees! I use that phrase because it had a very old but cool feel to it. The mismatched chairs, distressed metal and wood everywhere, dim lighting, and nice music made it a place you just wanted to hang out and drink with your main squeeze. The staff was incredibly friendly and ready to help with your selection of whisky from one of the largest collections I've ever seen. They also had local beers and other mixed drinks if whisky isn't your style. The food was simply exquisite. The portions were big enough for a man's man that's had a hard day at work. The steak was cooked perfectly, flavorful and juicy, but the pork chop stole the show. The chef took that underrated cut of meat and turned her into the queen of the parade. Seriously, try it. All in all, 2 excited thumbs up. A fun yet quiet atmosphere, great service, fantastic drinks, and stellar food make The Whiskey Stihl Bar a place you should definitely visit. I've heard lots of great things about Stihl's brunch, so I recently decided to give it a try. The food was wonderful! The pulled pork banh mi was delicious. The biscuits and gravy were pretty great too. Definitely a bit surprised to find redeye gravy. My only complaint was the service. The servers seemed to just be wondering around without any idea of who was doing what. It took an hour to get our food from the time we ordered. Drinks took 20 minutes to get, and the second round was forgotten until after the food arrived. I will definitely give them another try, but hopefully they work a little on service organization. I understand everyone is short staffed right now, which makes planning and organization even more important. read more

Man, these guys don't care to give good service. The drinks and food are really good and creative, however, service can make or break your experience. Both times we tried Stihl Whiskey, it was early and the place had only a few tables. The second experience was really bad. Our friends joined us for a few drinks and apps during the holidays. We arrived before them and ordered a couple of bourbons from a big guy with a beard, great list by the way, and they came out promptly. Service good so far. Our friends arrived about 10 minutes later and the guy didnt come by to see what they wanted for a long time. I started checking my watch after a while and I clocked 8 mins. so it had to be like 15 or something. He dropped their drinks and ran. My wife had to go up to the bar and ask him if we could order some food. It came out hot and flavorful. Great job BOH. The bar had a few more people coming in and the guy completely forgot us. We were going to order another round, increasing our tab and revenue for the business. Nope. Our drinks sat empty for 20 minutes. My wife clocked that time! We were starting to make bets on if he'd come back and found it comical. We had planned to stay and order dinner and more beverages, but the service made us rethink our night. Needless to say, we asked for our tab and went to O'Kanes instead. Had two rounds there, more apps, and a few laughs. The tab there ended up being over $100. If Stihl looses this kind of revenue with bad service, then its going to slowly loose income with each bad experience. Locals aren't going to go back and it'll become a tourist attraction. Imagine what it could become with attentive service. Stihl Whiskey has so much potential, but get some servers/bartenders in there that enjoy what they do and enjoy giving great customer service. Worst experience I have had at a bar ever. Sat at the bar for 20 minutes as the bar tender sat at the other end of the bar talking to one of us buddies. Had to order a drink from a waitress, who was awesome. After 35 minutes of never being acknowledged by the bartender, we ordered another round through the waitress. Bartender must have got his feeling hurt because he would not serve us our next round. I would never recommend this place to anyone just because the interaction we had with the bartender. 1) Don't be in a rush. 2) The servers are probably going to personally know half the people in the restaurant so they really don't hate you if you're "new" and I don't think they're trying to ignore you. 3) If you do catch your server, and they don't know you, chances are they'll really stop and answer your questions. Or, if they don't know the answer, they'll figure it out. 4) This feels to me like the most "Bend" restaurant in Bend. We rarely go in but almost always see someone local eating there when we do. There is definitely a vibe of "being seen" here. 5) Beer selection is super limited. Which is odd yet oddly refreshing for Bend. I went to the bar last night with a few friends for my girlfriends birthday and it was reletively busy. We caught a booth over in the corner and waited around 20 minutes for someone to get over to us. Overall it was a little over an hour before we got our drinks. Probably an issue with staffing but none the less the employees were not very friendly when we were trying to get our checks. Nice atmosphere. But the mere time spent waiting for what we came there for did not make it an enjoyable experience. read more

Went in on a Monday night and nearly had the place to ourselves. The owner was behind the bar and it was a terrific experience. This gentleman knows his whiskey. We spent over an hour discussing styles, flavors, and the history behind dozens of brands. Sadly, you can only sample so many before you hit a wall. I have not sampled the food, but the menu is creative and well priced. If you come during a busy night, be prepared for a much louder and tight experience. I got the chicken tenders, my dad got the stihl bourbon burger. I tried his burger, both were absolutely phenomenal. If you're going to get a drink, please get the Lysol Cure. The name is odd, but it's fabulous. I've never had a drink with 2 after-tastes, but this one has it. Sweet, with a Walnut aftertaste, and a brown sugar after-after-taste. The Aztec Banana Old Fashioned, was a very close second. One flavor throughout, no aftertaste, but fabulous banana-chocolate flavor. The BlackBerry Burbon Lemonade is a dangerous drink, because it just tastes like a great blackberry lemonade. This is 100% a hidden gem. Please give them your business.
