Gabriella is absolutely amazing. It was my first time visiting this lovely restaurant that atmosphere is phenomenal. The food is fantastic and the service is above and beyond. I definitely recommend visiting this place!

I don't know if I've ever been to a restaurant that charges $10 a slice to cut your cake. I genuinely couldn't believe it. They didn't even give the option to just let us cut it ourselves. $10 per person. To press the knife into the cake. I had a big group because it was my birthday so it was an extra $120 on top of the bill for the cake. $120 for them to cut the cake. Maybe I could've overlooked the fee a little bit if our waitress was around and very attentive, but she was MIA and we were all dying of thirst the whole time. Maybe I could've overlooked it l if our food came out fast but we were there for three and a half hours because the food was taking forever. I understand we're a big group but I've had a big group at other places even while it's busy and this has never happened. And then the cherry on top was an extra $120 to cut our cake and forced gratuity for bad service and for them to cut our cake. I can't make this up!! I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 star because I did really like their drinks and the food was good. I had to apologize to everyone after though.

Raw, oily onions. Raw fries mixed in with cooked. Which means the person frying is lazy, not moving the food properly and likely not having the oil at proper temp. The fish tacos were also oily, and overly rich with the sauce. No freshness to it, which you'd expect at a beach restaurant. The guacamole is solid, I'll say that.

Valets were super kind and quick! Walked in with no reservations but was able to be sat immediately. They had a brunch menu in addition to their regular menu, they had something for everyone! I had a salad with a balsamic dressing that was delicious. Hubby got the breakfast burrito and enjoyed it. The view was amazing! We sat inside but might as well have been outside with the giant windows that opened up to the ocean.

Outstanding experience at The Sunset Restaurant. We had high hopes for this place, and it exceeded our expectations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing views, located on a quiet beach front.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was great, and the food and drinks were exceptional. Javier our waiter was so kind in taking care of us, and we couldn't thank him more. Would highly recommend this place.

Popped in for quick happy hour. We shared the fish tacos and fries. I'd recommend NOT sharing the tacos :-) Lol [[HIGHLIGHT]]We loved the atmosphere, food, drinks, and enjoyed talking to the bartenders.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We are definately planning our next trip back! Maybe happy hour and dinner.

WOW what a view, but what a slow roll to get there. Suggest you make a reservation and give yourself plenty of time to arrive, especially on the weekend. Food was delicious, wait staff was attentive, and seriously can't say enough about the view from the 2nd floor. Go, enjoy, relax! Oh and they have valet parking which is super helpful, reasonable and friendly!!

Took a drive up the coast to one of my favorite stretches of beach in California. Westward beach or otherwise known as drain pipes if you're a local surfer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is pleasant, the views are spectacular and the food was great![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Super relaxed vibe at the end of Point Dume you'll find this quaint establishment. My soup was rich and flavorful, just perfect to start. My endive salad with sliced avocado and toasted pine nuts was light and delicious. My GF had their linguine with seafood which she absolutely loved. The dish had a rich and savory rustic tomato sauce. Her mussels were perfectly cooked and tender. She barely spoke as she devoured her tasty choice. She had a carafe of Pinot Noir which was a great pairing with her meal. Our service was warm, fast and everyone was very pleasant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our upstairs views of the beach was awesome.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As I ate, I reminisced of days gone past surfing this lovely stretch of coastline. Take a drive and fall in love in what feels like the end of the world yet not that far away!

Burrata, Heirloom Tomato, and Balsamic Pearl

Cute beach spot with really good food overall. The burrata was delicious and fresh with a nice balsamic drizzle. The grilled octopus was also excellent, tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly over the creamy base and tomatoes. The clams on the half shell weren't really for me. The texture and larger size just wasn't my favorite. I'll stick with oysters next time. Kettle One martinis were good and strong. Staff was friendly and accommodating, especially since we had our two dogs with us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They originally wanted to seat us on the patio, which is literally on the sand. Cute idea, but it was a little chilly and the tables felt very close together, so we chose to sit inside near the bar area instead.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Only minor issue was that we could see our drinks sitting ready at the bar for a while before they made it to our table. Nothing major, just noticeable. Also worth noting: valet parking only. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, a great little beachside spot with solid food, good drinks, and a relaxed vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Delicious food with an amazing view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant sits right on the beach.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you can, ask to sit upstairs. There are so many windows pointing towards the beach and it's quieter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was great and super friendly. I started off with the Pink Elephant which was absolutely delish. The linguini and clams was huge. They do not skimp out on the clams as well. Everyone loved their food and the service.

Really enjoy coming to the Sunset Restaurant and this last visit did not disappoint. Parking is available via valet parking. You can certainly try parking on the street, but it's beachfront and packed most of the time. There is indoor and outdoor seating options. Both provide beautiful views of the ocean, just keep in mind that the outdoor seating is directly in same. The service is excellent, with your waiter and managers checking on folks frequently without feeling overbearing. I have never been disappointed by any of the dishes I've ordered. This latest time, we enjoyed the calamari (crisp, warm, succulent), Cesar salad, burger, and seafood tacos (now a duo rather than trio...I wish they'd bring back the lobster). Portions are incredibly generous, as well! Can't wait for our next trip out to Zuma/Malibu

    Rebecca G.

Oh how I love this place! Best spot to enjoy a drink and appetizer and catch a sunset! We sat on the couches in the lounge area and met a couple from Montreal who we chatted it up with for a bit... I had a Paloma and my husband had a Smokey tequila drink (can't remember the name) both so delicious! Also enjoyed the Tuna Tar Tar appetizer! Excellent! Service was great but off to a rough start as we sat for quite a while before anyone came over to us and the party that came in next to us, about 15 minutes after, were being tended to and of course I waved to the server and said we still haven't ordered? She said "ok someone will be with you shortly" I was a bit miffed over that but it wasn't long before the bar tender came and took our order. He was very nice and apologetic and even comped a drink! Thank you for that! Always recommend coming here!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A wonderful date spot with a view of the beach in nearly any spot you seat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was good considering how crazy busy it was especially for a Saturday with a private event going on. Food was very good, selection is very safe options, nothing too wild or experimental I've seen. I personally picked the sea bass fish tacos for $24 and it was very good! Consider this is Malibu and their rent must be astronomical. Also the pistachios tres leche dessert cake was perfect to end the meal and share with. With half dozen oysters to share, two cocktails, two taco dinners, plus one dessert to share you're looking at around $150+ after tax and nice deserv[[HIGHLIGHT]]ing tip. So it's not spot if you're on "budget" but consider the location and the view. You're i[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]n Malibu! They also have valet but i came around 5pm when most people are leaving the beach anyways so street parking was "relatively" easy for me. I will recommend and come back to when I'm in the area.

Came at around 2 pm on a weekday so was luckily able to find a parking spot and there was no line to order. If it's busy, good luck. Food was delicious and priced well. Shrimp basket - 10/10 Shrimp were fried perfectly to be honest. Got 6 shrimp over french fries (the fries were also great, thicker pieces that were fried perfectly). Tartar sauce was great, the cocktail sauce as well (and I don't normally like cocktail sauce). Filled me up great. Small clam chowder - 7/10 Pretty solid clam chowder. I probably wouldn't get it again, but the first few spoonfuls were great and very enjoyable. Some of the clam towards the bottom was more chewy which wasn't ideal. Got a bread roll as well and it came with oyster crackers. Spent roughly $30 total, around $20 on the shrimp basket and another $6-7 on the clam chowder. Would 100% come here again, highly recommend if you're in the area looking for some tasty seafood.

We've tried the grilled salmon in the past- and it's nicely cooked and tasty - but the star of the show is their fried offerings. What could be better than a crisply fried piece of cod with delicious fries overlooking the ocean? They do a better job frying fish than much more expensive places (looking at you Santa Monica seafood restaurant). The coleslaw is always fresh, and we also love the creamy chowder, chock full of clam bits. My one note is that they do not season their food so you need to add salt and pepper to everything. The coleslaw benefits from salt and a squeeze of lemon or a few drops of the malt vinegar on the table (also good with the fries of course). I'm not sure why they don't season their fish or batter - but maybe they figure it's best to keep it unsalted and people can add seasoning? There is also hot sauce on the table which adds the perfect zing to the chowder. The people who run the place are friendly and the place is especially popular on weekends. I'd recommend coming midweek either before or after peak lunch hours. Highly recommend.

Checking the receipt: tomotoes not $5,99 but $14,40 (and: we said we do not need bags - the bag man had already started packing, said never mind - and we were charged for two bags :-( I went back to our cashier Ana, who strived to be the manager, and, of course, everything was my fault. I just picked the wrong tomatoes. I went back to the produce section - and there was this sign in the middle of the tomatoes I had picked - "tomatoes on the ripe - $5.99". Unwillingly, she followed me and someone must have out a wrong sign there. My mentioning that this were (a) the only tomatoes on the ripe and that (b) there were no other tomatoes on the ripe was shrugged of. I was eventually refunded - she tried to make me go back to the car again and get the credit card, but then refunded me in cash. Food good, ambiance OK, service meh. I will never go again.

Bookmarked for future trips near Malibu!…read more Stopped in for lunch and ordered the wings and the Wagyu double burger, and both were outstanding. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, while the wings were equally satisfying and crispy (they were able to make me some with no sauce). It was exactly the kind of meal I was hoping for after a full day at the beach and on the road. The location has plenty of parking, which is always a plus in this area, and there is a nice outdoor dining space in front where you can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air while you eat. What really stood out was the customer service. One of the employees working near the deli area, I didn't catch his name, but I remember his distinctive earring and tattoos, provided exceptional service. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care that customers had a great experience. The entire store was clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. Even the restrooms were spotless, which says a lot about how well the business is managed. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I'll definitely be stopping back the next time I'm in the area.

Now imagine it costs twice as much as Whole Foods. Boom. The only reason why it's 3.5 on 5 is the exceptional customer service. Really really nice and down to earth staff. You'd only go there if you are a tourist or a local who doesn't want to drive to a decent grocery store. Everything is mediocre. Ingredients are not clean. There's a lot of variety, from cut fruits to breakfast burritos, baguettes to bagels, sandwiches to poke. Many of the wraps and sandwiches looked sad and dry. $12 for cut papayas and $19 for small cut mixed fruits (if you are thinking organic, nada conventional). It's still decent to pickup overpriced staples in a rush, convenience, but not for stocking up your kitchen. Will we be back, probably, since any other store in western Malibu is a minimum half hour commute.
