It's been so long since I've been to the Grand Century plaza I hadn't even realized they expanded the back part of it! I would've never came here if it weren't for my friend's massive sweet tooth. Except she was let down when the Oolong boba drink she bought was bitter (not the strong tea flavor, but straight up bitter), oof. Not sure how you can mess up on Oolong tea unless it was overbrewed. I felt like the menu was overwhelming with so many options. They had che, boba, all types of nut and dairy milks, etc. And on display were different kinds of pastries. I ended up getting the elderflower tea with 0 sugar, less ice, and no toppings. I was honestly very impressed with the drink! It tasted slightly sweet even at 0% so I'm wondering if it was the natural flower nectar from the elderflower? The store was kept clean, hand sanitizer available at the register, and the staff were all wearing masks. There is outdoor seating available, as well. It was pretty pricey for the drink ($5) for a set size, but I think I'd come back now and then to treat myself to some Elderflower tea! read more

I have always loved Vietnamese desserts and would usually pick them up at some random Vietnamese tofu, takeout or sandwich shop but was told by my Vietnamese RE friend that I am missing out on the good stuff. This place is usually busy at times, but their desserts are worth sitting down for. I actually did enjoy the vanilla gelato topped with cherries that I had. That was a very good one. Not a fan of the peach drink that tasted like lychee too, but the cheesecake was great. I didn't taste an overdose of sugar here. Presentation of the desserts displayed looked too good to not eat. Very colorful. Peach drink would be perfect for someone if they wanted less sugar sweetness. You can pick while tapping the touch screen. Average pricing ranges between $5.25-$7.25 per item. Portions were generous, so definitely share when possible. I will try the other gelato items next time. Very tempting. The only thing that drives customers away is the touch tap screen for placing orders. Some customers, especially elderly women are not into taking their time doing selections from the machine and prefers to order in person. I heard at least three women in their 50s-60s complaining about the machine. I took my own time, and spent about 5-6 minutes browsing to see what I wanted to order. Cashier is usually in the back or in the kitchen during down times. My cashier was friendly and resourceful though. It took her within 5 minutes to get my order ready. Place looks and feels great, but it was much smaller than expected. Loved the decorations, tea selections, hot/cold beverages, bakery choices, desserts, and more. Wide variety to choose from. However, not much bread items here. Focus is on cakes, macarons, and other goodies. Comfortable chairs and tables. Accepts credit cards. Restroom open to the public, but note that it may be occupied as this is a very small place. Grab own napkins in the back. No trash bins inside, so take your trash outside. Was my wife's favorite place to get some creme puffs. I decided to swing by and pick up a few for her. Bought 10, paid and left. Later it turned out the creme puffs were old and stale. SO i came yesterday on lunar new years cause I was in the area and everything else was packed. I walked in and there's signs every where saying "MASK REQUIRED". The dude at the counter taking orders/making drinks is literally not even wearing a mask!!! Not hanging off his face, not hanging on one ear! STRAIGHT UP NO MASK. I've been here many times before and usually get there hot desserts (che). My favorites are che bap or che khoai mon. Both are served hot and delicious. I'm not a huge fan of their cold che as I believe Bambu is better and higher quality. This time around I arrived around 11pm on a Thursday and the staff stated that they only had green milk tea. I was a little shocked and had to clarify that they had nothing else on the menu except for green milk tea and they said yes. We ended up just getting the nutty cheesecake, which was okay not that great. I have worked at a boba spot before and understand that you could run out of boba, certain teas when we're in a rush or in the process of making more, or maybe coffee because the machine is already cleaned, but really? Stinkin' cute lil' bakery! One of the few left It's been a hot min. since I've been to the Grand Century plaza but it was shockingly sad to see how many boba tea and bakery spots are now gone. There was this fantastic panadan waffle shop that I used to go all the time, I was saddened to see it wasn't there anymore and I didn't even know the name of it if anyone knows what I'm talking about please message me haha I legit miss the taro and pandan waffles - that's where I learned to leave the panadan waffle mix in the freezer overnight to make it extra gooey, insider secret!! Haha They also had the best ché drinks!! Anyways, I digress... This spot is loaded with baked good options: tiramisu, macaroons, mochi, cookies, breads, you name it. I'm on a diet so I couldn't get too fancy with my dessert but I did opt in for the ché drink with coconut water and a bunch of extra toppings: coconut meat, pandan jelly, this other dark brown jelly and chia seeds. It was refreshing af but there's a lot of topping, I literally had pandan jelly falling out of my mouth haha The Strawberry & Banana Smoothie: 50% sweet level was yummy and extra tarty! This is a great indoor place to sit down and chill with family and friends after ate at the restaurant in this Vietnam Town. I always get Vietnamese ice coffee with condensed milk from Sweet Box. I think this is the third time at this patisserie/coffee shop and I keep finding it prettier than tastier. Everything is very amiable in there: the commercial graffiti creating a faux-Parisian bistro scene in the walls outside (check that cute little dog), the murals inside, the beauty of the pastries, nice customer service...but pastries are usually bland. They have presence but lack flavor. My last disappointment was the box of 3 beignets. The bottom was kind of watery, the top dry and not much chocolate injected. Cappuccino ok, prices normal. Came here right after dinner because every time we visit this plaza, I've always passed by it but never tried. I have no idea why I waited this long. I had the mung bean and pandan jelly with coconut milk Chè, the Boston cream, and this other dessert in a glass cup that I can't quite remember the name of. Mung bean and pandan jelly Chè- Bomb! Super refreshing during a hot summer night. The coconut pairs extremely well with the mung bean and the pandan jelly. Mung bean chunks were nice and soft, and the overall dessert was not overly sweet, just perfect. Boston cream- this was pretty good as well. Super chocolatey and the pastry part was soft and not stale which is usually pretty rare for something that is sitting in the display case. Dessert in a glass cup- This was my absolute favorite here. I love Ferrero Rochers, and this tasted exactly like a Ferrero Rocher, but in cup/dessert form. You can definitely taste the milk chocolate and there was a crispy part in the middle of the dessert. The Sweet Corner is a corner (ha) of Vietnam Town. There's usually parking right outside on the side, though you might have to park further depending on how busy the plaza gets. The Sweet Corner interior is relatively small, and the seating would be usually packed pre-COVID. However, they also have some seating outside so that's always nice if you don't want to take your dessert to go. They have so many things on the menu, but I usually like the che concoctions that they have. Their desserts run sweet, so make sure to make the necessary adjustments depending on your taste preferences. My favorite dessert is their che bap, which is corn in coconut milk and pandan sweet rice. It's always hot and a great treat when I can get it. Definitely would recommend that you try it. I also appreciate that they have different teas and you can usually get them either hot or cold. If you're coming for the boba, I would skip on the topping just because it's not that great. read more

The quality of this place gets worse and worse. But today's visit ensures I'll never come back. I came in to order a basic jasmine milk tea with boba. I waited and the barista was just on his cellphone the whole time. As a result, I used a self-serve kiosk they have set up. It wasn't intuitive to find milk tea on the kiosk despite scrolling through the options 3 times. When I finally ordered my jasmine tea with boba, the barista continued to browse his phone for 5 more minutes while I'm standing and waiting. When he finally get me my tea, it's without milk. I admitted to being a confused first-time kiosk user of their. Despite that, he told me I'd have to buy a whole new beverage because it's a different recipe to add milk to the jasmine tea. They have a self-ordering machine at the entrance and you can order with an employee if you take a few steps into the building - it's confusing for both employees and guests. The coconut latte I received was just ok - no coconut flavor at all, which was disappointing for the $6-7 price tag. Noticed this place when I was in the plaza the last time I was here. I decided to give it a try when I was back in the plaza again after a visit to nearby Happy Hallow. I ordered 3 drinks and they were all pretty good. Living in San Mateo I don't get too many che options besides Bambu (they are good) so I want to try other places in SJ where there are more to choose from. This place is very modern and clean and the service is fast and friendly as well. They have indoor and outdoor seating so that is nice. I ordered 2 coconut milk based drinks and 1 coconut water based drink. My son like me his coconut water based one and my wife and I enjoyed the coconut milk ones. Please refer attached receipt photo for exact drinks. I was a little hungry too so all the che toppings with beans and taro was filling and the liquid part was refreshing and hydrating as well. This place was cute and trendy. Nice place to stop by after dinner for dessert. Cute display of desserts. My mom introduced me to Suong Sao Nong (Hot Grass Jelly). This is brought out hot and hardens into a soft Jelly. Definitely a dessert you want to sit in for. My mom was super hyped because she had been here before. I ordered mine with coconut milk, coconut chunks, and red beans. We ordered all six like this, but about half our orders were correct. The other half came out plain. We were too confused to fix it. I've been coming to Sweet Corner for years since they opened in Vietnam town, and I usually always get the same thing - red velvet frappe. What I love about it is the coffee taste, and I guess now you can get it caffeinated or non-caffeinated, but because I enjoy the coffee taste I always get caffeinated. My boyfriend really enjoys the hot grass jelly w/ coconut milk (#3), and my mom enjoys all the che (Vietnamese dessert) that they have to offer. They did change owners a few years back, but I'm glad that the menu options and the tastes/flavors remain the same. Situated at the end of Vietnam Town in east side San Jose. It's across the parking lot from Pho Hanoi. I usually stop by here for the hot Che Bap (corn). So comforting. Their cold Che looks good but it's pretty damn pricey. The Che Trai Cay (fruit) is $6 compared to Bambu which is cheaper and I know does it legit. Their pastries aren't bad. They aren't the best thing in the world but a nice option to get some sweets. The place is cute. Goes for the French bistro vibe. I see they do wedding cakes but I don't have personal experience in this. I've taken friends here and they've ordered drinks and have been very impressed. I dislike disclaimers, but this visit really was intended solely to try the Mavens Creamery macaron ice creams. The Sweet Corner is literally in a back corner of the packed Vietnam Town plaza, and they offer a variety of drinks and desserts. I was interested in trying the aforementioned local brand of macaron ice cream, so I came here after having lunch nearby. It wasn't too busy during my 1:30-ish Monday visit. I found the Mavens Creamery ice cream freezer on the inside wall and saw all of the flavors available except for Earl Grey Lavender. I would've probably tried it if they'd had it, but I still found two flavors to try at $5.25 each. The cashier will use tongs to place each individual sandwich in a plastic sleeve after you've paid, so don't clumsily try to get into the freezer on your own. The Coffee Hazelnut was a little more pronounced in coffee than hazelnut, while the Blueberry Matcha had both flavors easily discernible. Both had flawless texture in the shells and the ice cream. I would recommend either of the two if you enjoy ice cream, handheld or otherwise. It's a little pricey, but I'd likely have the Mavens Creamery product again, and I found quality control at The Sweet Corner to be sufficient. read more

Hello! I usually buy dessert here because it suits me well. However, today I'm quite upset because the kitchen staff informed me that I would be charged extra for the coconut milk. (The extra charge isn't the issue for me.) I was very surprised because I didn't ask for additional coconut milk; I only requested that it be kept separate since I plan to eat it tomorrow. (I bought two portions and asked to have the coconut milk placed together in one container.) I don't understand this situation. I am not sure what these types of drinks are called. I would say Vietnamese specialty drinks. They do have a variety of other drinks as well. I have enjoyed everything I have had here. Their healthy drinks and sweet drinks are all very good. Their pistacio gelato is my favorite which comes in a mini glass container which you keep. read more

Hi Sweet Corner Manager, I've been drinking Sweet Corner since the store just openned very long time ago. But recently, it seems quality and service getting worse and worse... I just buy 2 drinks (menu #1) today-Saturday 06/26/21 @ 2:30pm. I also report to cashier (a guy) that the Drink #1 I bought last time missed ingredients as I always have drink #1 all times so I remember by heart what ingredients must be. Today, curiosly enough, I checked my 2 drinks in front of your staffs (2 men + 1 lady), they were missing ingredients again truly!!! I was so mad of the service. The lady said she might not do last time. That's fine to me. However, the drinks this time were missing ingredients again and it was the same as last time. Also, I asked 80% sweet, its sweet was just around 20%! I requested to make the new drinks with the exactly correct ingredients in the menu. The lady working in the kitchen refused to do that instead of putting the missing portion into the missing ingredients drinks. I asked to talk to manager. They all told me that no manager in the store and they all donot know manager's phone number!! In conclusion, your staffs need to be re train again: first respect customer, second admit their mistake to make better next time, cook correctly per ingridient on menu, and last but not least to be honest with customer. read more

One of the hippest Asian dessert places I've seen. Had sparkling tea and cheesecake which were both really great. I haven't seen sparkling tea on many menus. The vibe and being open late and its surroundings combined with the quality are what made it a great visit for me. I will definitely be back! read more

New favorite sweet/specialty shop. Cute inside with variety of customers, casual, clean and even though it is small they squeeze quite a few little sitting areas for customers to dip into some sweets. Excellent variety of desserts, Euro/American and Vietnamese. All sorts of coconut milk based che, coffee, tea and bobs with all the toppings. We tried all 12 of the rotating mochi flavors, (see pics with flavors) minus vanilla and rasperry. They were all excellent and the mochi dough was nice and fresh--the guava was out of this world, but honestly they were all really good, not too sweet and the flavors were mostly right on target. Great work. We also tried a super intense chocolate cake which was not very moist, but very chocolaty; the red velvet moonpie with creamcheese icing filling which was good but not great, and the casava cake which I loved--also a tiny bit dry but super buttery with the yummy casava burnt aftertaste I like. I just really like that they provide a great selection of desserts, coffees and teas, efficient service and obviously the majority of items are hand selected or house-made. Nice place for a girl-date or to pick up some bday (or regular day :D) goodies, or sit outside when it's nice out. 5 stars for this new business. Accept credit cards. read more

We were looking nuoc mia and stumbled upon this little shop on the corner. I've never been happier to find out this place doesn't sell nuoc mia because we ordered the best avocado smoothie I've ever had. The avocado wasn't too sweet or overpowering and it's texture was very smooth. I've been to a couple places where the texture is icy and it's always been a sign that the place doesn't know how to make a proper smoothie. The boba was also great. I really enjoy getting dessert at this place! I always get their Trio Chocolate Mousse and it's always consistent, which I appreciate. They also have a lot of Che to choose from as well which makes it a nice place to go to after a meal so that everyone can have something they like. Only downside is that you have to have an order over $10 to use your credit card and most of their items are under that, so you have to buy two items to be able to do that. read more

Update : I walk in and was told to order on their self check out kiosk while the employee was cleaning tables. As This is my first time ordering through the self check out, I had asked a question about the menu because it was a little confusing at first. I was told from afar that it's the same. As I'm finishing up with my order a family came in and started to speak the same language as the employee and he/she decided to take their order. My question is why was I not given the option to have some help with my order after already asking questions and clearly having trouble? Based on my experience today I'm very disappointed that I was treated this way. The employee has given off the impression that unless I speak their language Im going to have to wait?
