I've been here 4 times now and the Pork Chase-A-Dilla ($11) is probably the best quesadilla I've ever had. The BBQ sauce and pickled peppers really take it to another level. The bar is lacking a bit in atmosphere, but with food this good who really cares? It easily makes my list of favorite restaurants in Orlando. read more

This place was recommended to me for their tacos! It's a small spot just off on e. Colonial next to ink spot yet, it's very clean and cute on the inside. The Bullshooter dart boards are nice. And oh yeah, the Birria tacos were great as well as the La Taverna. I'd like to go back and try more of their other foods. The only thing about what we ordered was that the rice was over cooked and the beans weren't seasoned. But willing to go back and try more! read more

We went on 2/15/25 at around 2:00. The food is so fresh! The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Our server told us but I forgot it. Anyway, she took very good care of us. They were setting up for a pro wrestling event. Looked like fun. If you want a casual meal and to hang out with friends, go here. Support a local business! read more

I discovered The Tavern during a trivia event. All I can say is I have been please surprised! It looks like a cute little dive bar (with parking in the back!) just outside downtown. Honestly, I was not expecting much from the food BUT it was great! I would recommend the chips with guac, queso, and salsa! All 3 dips and chips were great! We liked it so much we found another trivia to come to! The nachos and tacos were delicious as well! I haven't tried any of the drinks personally, but I've heard good things from my friends. read more

This is a great little dive. We came down for the bowl game and saw that this was right around the corner from our hotel. Pleasantly surprised that the cocktails and the prices the service is real good and the food is dang good. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE. I came in with the my s/o and my parents & the atmosphere, first of all, was phenomenal. Not many patrons but the service was AMAZING. The food was KILLER. Every single taco was full of flavor. The guacamole was FRESH & delicious. Had a few drinks (shots) & they were made perfectly. Got the honor to mEet Chase who curated most of the menu & he was great. this is definitely my new go-to bar. I would recommend to anyone. read more

My 5 coworkers and I found this hidden gem last week on our lunch break. We work around the corner and never saw it before. The menu is pretty unique and not the basic bar food you'd expect. I had the elote bowl with pork. It was delicious and I loved it. Service was on spot, quick, attentive, friendly. The restaurant is very clean. My friends loved their meals also. Birria burrito, tacos, nachos (Looked amazing!!), salad. We all agreed we are going to definitely be regulars here Chase, one of the owners, came over and introduced himself and welcomed us. Overall, we had a fabulous experience. Happy to have another walking distance option to add to our standing Friday lunches. read more

From the moment I walked into this whole in the wall, I was a tad skeptical coming in from a hard day's work driving from Miami at 4am. I just wanted to relax and have some drinks and maybe hop around to different spots. As soon as I sat down, I was greeted with smiles and genuine conversation by everyone sitting at the bar. I ask for a menu before I hear very strong recommendations about how good the food was here. Chase served me a strong double whiskey sour that didn't disappoint as I looked over the menu over what to choose. I decided on the chicken burrito and it did not disappoint! Tons of shredded chicken with rice and beans, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, and some awesome spice that had the perfect amount of kick! The ambiance was warm and welcoming considering it was my first time. Music wasn't too loud, decor was quaint, and it was evident that the regulars are heavily invested on this place's success. I must say that I will be back any time I'm in the area to say hello and have great time with all the wonderful people here! We ordered nachos and a Taco salad. 1-we got a sandwich instead of nachos 2-the sandwich we received the chicken had tendons and bones threw it away after one bite. 3-the salad was good and tasty. Tbh I would not recommend this place. ‍ read more

We had a great experience! Don't get turned away by first impressions. This is a quaint little hole in the wall joint that has really great food! You can't go wrong with the tacos. We were in Orlando to visit our son who was working here for the weekend. We chose the Tavern because it was convenient to the hotel where he was staying. I had one of my favorite comfort foods the Grilled Cheese Tomato and Bacon sandwich. It was Delicious! My husband had the Brillia beef tacos. They were different from anything we have ever had...different and delicious. Our son had Chicken wings. The wings are roasted not fried so he wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. Service was excellent! If you are in the area give The Tavern Bar and Grill a try and if you like a little spice in your life try the Mexican Slaw. read more

Came here for lunch after seeing the great reviews and it did not disappoint. I had the Birria burrito and it was packed with flavor. Very well done. My only concern was the size of the burrito, a little on the small side and filled with a lot of white rice. I definitely don't prefer white rice with my Mexican food !! ... but overall a great tasting burrito. I ordered a side of rice and beans and it was mostly white rice with a sprinkle of black beans. Service was amazing and extremely polite. Definitely will be back !! read more

I met 2 colleagues here for lunch and we all loved this place. One of the owners took great care of us and was fun and friendly. Omg: was his name John? I'm sorry I forgot! It's definitely a hole in the wall (love those) so I was surprised and thrilled to see a small "vegan" section on the menu! (Apparently one of the other owners is vegan!). I asked john's advice and ended up with maybe the best vegan burrito I ever had. All our food was fresh with herbs and bright colors. We'll be back. It's just east of enterprise car rental. The front-end staff's decision resulted in the loss of the restaurant's 5-star rating, not our server or the food. Our server, Neici, was exceptionally knowledgeable and pleasant, encouraging our return. She even recommended returning to City Walk after 6 pm for complimentary parking and enjoying the restaurant and parks' evening hours. We would welcome her service on a future visit.

I had such a good time at The Tavern Downtown Orlando! I stopped in for Taco Tuesday and ended up trying way more than just tacos. I had the tacos, nachos, burrito, elote, and even got to try one of their burgers. Everything was flavorful and the food was genuinely really good. The drinks were great too, and I love that they have mocktails, so there are options whether you're drinking or not. The atmosphere is what really stood out to me though. Good music, good energy, and it's the kind of place where you can actually sit back, eat, have a few drinks and enjoy yourself with friends. I also love that they're open late. Downtown has plenty of clubs if you want to party, but The Tavern is a great option before or after you hit the nightlife when you want actual food and a place to keep the night going. Not knowing much about either performer, we thought it sounded like a fun and lively way to spend the evening. Unfortunately, the experience ended up being pretty mixed. To start, I ordered the queso dip with added chorizo along with a house margarita. The queso was fairly unremarkable, served lukewarm, while the chorizo lacked the sear and crispness that really brings out its flavor. The tortilla chips were similarly underwhelming and could have benefited from at least a touch of seasoning. Normally I would have added a little salt myself, but there weren't any salt and pepper shakers available at the table. The margarita was serviceable, though sweeter than I personally prefer. For my main, I ordered the Jalisciense Burrito with carnitas and vegetables, smothered in queso. At first glance, the burrito appeared heavily weighted toward vegetables, though they were cooked very well, the red peppers still had a pleasant al dente bite while the onions were nicely rendered. About a quarter of the way through, I finally hit the carnitas section, and from there everything came together much better. Overall, it ended up being a flavorful and enjoyable burrito. Given the holiday crowds and event atmosphere, I'm willing to chalk up some of the food and service inconsistencies to the unusually high volume. Service throughout the night was minimal and difficult to flag down, though the eventual arrival of their habanero hot sauce, after three requests, was one of the better highlights of the evening. Now for the biggest issue: the sound volume. I've attended plenty of Cinco de Mayo celebrations and more concerts than I can count, so I'm not particularly sensitive to loud environments, but this crossed into genuinely uncomfortable territory. The DJ had the speakers absolutely pegged, with occasional distortion harsh enough to make people cover their ears. By the time Rafael Leidenz began performing, my ears were already numb. To Rafael's credit, he was entertaining. I don't speak Spanish and couldn't understand most of the performance, but his subtle comedic mannerisms and stage presence were enjoyable and clearly resonated with the crowd. Unfortunately, the excessive volume made it nearly impossible to hold a conversation with anyone at the table, which overshadowed much of the evening. The good: Rafael's performance and the habanero sauce. The okay: the food. The bad: the sound level and service. Had the volume been dialed back to a level where people could actually enjoy both the entertainment and each other's company, this easily would have been a more favorable review.
