Popular Thai restaurant with seating for about 20. Portions are generous and food is dished up pretty fast. We enjoyed most of the dishes we ordered; some were really spot on while others were a bit different from what we were used to.

This was a really cool place. The interior is tightly packed and cozy. It's like they wedged it in between two other restaurants. Oh wait. They did! But it's cool. Everyone is close together and sociable. You're mixed in with college kids, business professionals, families on vacation. It's great! The food was delicious, served fresh, and the portion sizes are just right. The service was really good as well. They check on you regularly and refill your water before it empties. But they aren't annoying about checking on you. It's just the right amount. All in all I would come here again.

Delicious restaurant with amazing food. I usually try to get takeout here whenever I visit SF for work. I've gotten the Pad Kee Mao, the papaya salad and the duck curry with lychee. Previously I've had the Pad Thai and Panang curry. All were delicious. This is essentially a hole in the wall spot with not too much seating inside so I'd highly recommend takeout or delivery from this spot. Service was solid with my pick up order from door dash being there with no issues. Overall recommend this restaurant for tasty Thai food.

This is a very small low profile Thai restaurant close to Union Square. I had a late lunch after morning meetings and this was the closest to the Hilton. As you can see from inside, there is not a lot of seating, but after lunch crowd is open. This place cooks authentic thai food. The curry is outstanding and ingredients fresh. I ordered the green curry with chicken, green beans, eggplant, thai basil and green peppers. I asked for thai spicy and they obliged unlike other places that are afraid to serve Americans thai spicy. They charged $1 extra for that but it was ok since i could tell they added freshly cut jalapeños and thai peppers. My winter sinuses were finally opened. Had a side of their fried prawns which were very good and not greasy. The entire menu looks good and I saw the table next to me order stir fried rice thai fried chicken. Looked very yummy with big chunks of fried chicken. Will be back.

This was my first time at this particular Thai restaurant. Parking is scarce, but Man- it SMELLS delicious as you walk in! We were lucky to be seated at 5p before the dinner crowd showed up on that Sunday evening and ever customer smelled to lick their plates/bowl clean! I think we were the ONLY table that couldn't finish our dinner! Hahaa We got Shrimp/chicken pad Thai, Pineapple Fried Rice w/o soy sauce (food allergy), and curry pockets with a mint lemonade and Thai lemonade. Everything was tasty and filling! I especially loved the dipping sauce for the curry pockets! It was like a sweet and sour sauce. We will definitely be back! I want to try their curry and Roti! Another table ordered that and it smelled heavenly and looks like a lot of flavor! Hee

I appreciated that this restaurant was walking distance to our hotel. The restaurant is very tiny and narrow. Everyone was sitting close to each other, but the food proved why everyone packed this tiny place up. Loved the papaya salad and the mango sticky rice dessert! The soup I had was ok. Service was quick and efficient, as they were trying to get everyone in and out. The takeout orders were just as busy as it was dining in. Keep at it! :)

We arrived super early around 5pm and there were plenty of seats! We ordered the weekly cashew (added chicken) special w/ Thai iced tea, tom yum soup, khao mao (skewered pork), papaya salad, fried chicken set meal, lychee duck curry, and mango sticky rice for dessert. It's all very authentic, yummy and the Thai pop music made us feel like we're in Thailand!

to go order - on top of not receiving any sauces, napkins or utensils, everything we ordered was completely full of grease. inedible curry, even after mixing. we really relied on the good reviews which made our experience even more dissapointing. /:

As a Thai food lover, I was not disappointed with my visit at The Thonglor. I was impressed by the Thonglor Curry which consisted of fresh kabocha squash and vibrant veggies in a flavorful red curry. I would highly recommend ordering a side of coconut rice. As it was the perfect pairing to this curry. We also ordered a side of vegetable rolls which were great for sharing. This restaurant is vegan and vegetarian friendly, with a variety of options for those craving a plant-based dish. I will definitely be coming back the next time i'm in SF!

Clean, classic Thai restaurant with a cheery yellow storefront keeps prices in line for the high quality of food they serve. You'll have a difficult time ordering since many items on the menu look tasty and items coming out of the kitchen for other tables will have you flipping pages yet again to make the right choice. If you're wavering, try the roast duck with rice, it was a standout: Juicy, thick slices of delectable, perfectly cooked duck ($22.50) on a bed of bok choy. Raad Na with beef ($18) seemed to lack a depth of flavor but they really aimed to give me the dish I wanted including how I wanted the noodles cooked that were nice and chewy. The portion was quite large; I took much of it home. Another standout- and don't miss out- is the fried calamari appetizer ($14) with a plate piled high with fresh calamari with a shatter crust that made it even more delicious. To-go orders were as brisk as dine in was busy. There were a good amount of locals in addition to tourists who found their way there. Somehow the tiny kitchen fit at least 4 cooks keeping the line moving. Two servers worked hard and kept up with the dining room and orders ready to head out. The only criticism is the broccoli in my Raad Na was a bit past its prime (but still crunchy) and pink ginger is a personal pet peeve but other than these very small quibbles, this restaurant is firing on all cylinders. Head to the theater district of Union Square or get delivery from The Thonglor. Street parking around the corner on Mason wasn't difficult: Meters end at 6pm and my car was left alone.

Convenient spot to eat at right before a show at the Curran. The restaurant itself is a bit small with only 5 or so tables and max seating of 20-30. The food was (pad thai and pad see ew) delicious and really hit the spot. Service is quick and nice. It was pretty crowded at 6pm on Tuesday night right before the Kim's Convenience show across the street.

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a rather mediocre experience. Despite stating that the restaurant opens at 11 am on Yelp, the restaurant didn't open until 11:30 am... Thonglor is located in the touristy Union Square and serves Americanized-Thai style food. Dining is indoors exclusively with a few tables indoor along with an open kitchen. The loo is in the back. Started off with the Thai Iced Tea and it was decent. It's the typical Americanized watered-down Thai tea, unlike the super strong ones in Thailand... bummer. Moved on to the moo ping pork skewers and it was a disappointment. Typical skewers feature fatty pork grilled on a charcoal grill. This version was a piece of lean pork with a marinate and it seems like they used a gas grill as the grill marks were few and far and in between... The crab fried rice was also mediocre. The flavors on the fried rice were quite flat and the raw onions seemed to have been sitting around. There was a generous toppiong of crab though. ~$53/head for lunch with plenty of leftovers.

Sadly I had to settle for Hot and Sour Soup, Wonton soup, Pork Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, Chicken Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, (8Pcs) Pork Dumpling with Sesame Sauce and Red Chili Oil (6Pcs), Numb & spicy pork Bao, Green Onion Pancake, (Sweet) Red Bean Paste Pockets. We had it family style. The 3 of us shared it all. There was plenty to go around. None of us left hungry. I can't even pick a favorite. Maybe the numb and spicy which wasn't that spicy. It was just so good and flavorful. The soup dumplings were amazing. So much perfect flavor. They held together until the bite. So good. The hot and sour soup was plenty tasty. Not the best I've ever had but certainly among the best. The only thing I will say is that one of my companions can't have seaweed. The wonton soup was amazing but full of seaweed. It wasn't listed on the menu and we have never had seaweed in any other wonton soup so didn't know to ask if it could be left out. That was sad. All she could do was have a tiny spoon of the broth to taste it. The green onion pancake was very good. The red bean paste pockets use the same dough but filled with sweet red bean paste. They were a perfect way to end the meal. Next time I'm in the city I will visit again. Loved it all. It was worth taking the time to visit and eat there.

The restaurant can be a little hidden, but it's pretty easy to find with the instructions they send before your reservation. It's located above Fermentation Lab. Just head up the stairs and you'll find it inside the old Ichi Pub space. The restaurant is small and intimate, with only 9 seats at the counter. When you arrive, walk through the Yuji curtain and check in directly with the chef since there is no host. My biggest concern with set menus is always whether I'll feel satisfied and full afterward, but that was definitely not an issue here. My husband and I were both very satisfied after the meal. Every dish was delicious, and you could really taste the quality of each ingredient. Highlights for me were the bluefin sashimi, which was so buttery and soft that it literally melted in your mouth. The skillfish was rich and decadent, and the citrus and ginger balanced the flavors. The fried fish was another favorite as it reminded me of the savory Japanese rice crackers I loved growing up. Since it's located in Japantown, parking can be challenging. We had to loop around several times looking for street parking and even had two cars take spots we were waiting for, so definitely give yourself extra time before your reservation. I would highly recommend this place! The chef changes the menu periodically based on what's in season, so it's a great excuse to come back and try something new in the future. The aroma of sizzling skewers over charcoal grills and soothing fragrance of lemongrass, Thai basil, and kaffir lime leaves drifting through the warm evening air. The rhythmic clatter of woks, the organized chaos of street vendors creating unforgettable meals from kitchens no bigger than a parking space. Oh...how I've longed to go back. And then, while walking the streets of San Francisco...I stumbled upon Bangkok Street Thai Street Food. No passport. No jet lag....Just an empty stomach and a healthy appetite. Our meal began with the Chicken Satay, and what a way to start. The chicken was beautifully grilled, tender, and lightly charred around the edges. But the real star was the silky peanut sauce paired with the bright cucumber relish. Rich, nutty, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced with a refreshing crunch, it was the kind of appetizer that makes everyone at the table quietly reach for "just one more skewer." Next came the Green Curry. One thing I appreciate is that they let you choose your own level of heat. Whether you prefer a gentle warmth or a full Thai spice adventure, the kitchen happily accommodates. Beneath the spice was a wonderfully creamy coconut curry layered with fresh herbs and deep aromatic flavors that made every spoonful comforting yet vibrant. Then came the dish no Thai meal should ever be without...Pad Thai. Simple on paper, difficult to master and Bangkok Street gets it right. The rice noodles were cooked perfectly--not too soft, not too firm--and coated in a beautifully balanced tamarind sauce that delivered the ideal combination of sweetness, acidity, and savory depth. Every bite kept inviting the next, to the point where ordering a second plate actually seemed like a perfectly reasonable life decision. Somewhere between the satay, the curry, and the Pad Thai...something unexpected happened. We completely forgot to take pictures! Not one. No overhead food shots. No "wait, don't touch it yet" moments. No social media evidence that we were ever there. That's usually the highest compliment I can give a restaurant. When the food is so good that everyone forgets about their phones, you know the kitchen has everyone's full attention. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. But the flavors at Bangkok Street Thai Street Food create a culinary memory that lasts far longer than anything saved to your camera roll. Overall: 4 stars. Fresh ingredients, beautifully balanced flavors, thoughtful spice levels, and comforting Thai classics prepared with care. From the outstanding Chicken Satay and fragrant Green Curry to a Pad Thai that showcases the magic of a well-crafted tamarind sauce, Bangkok Street Thai Street Food captures the spirit of Bangkok one delicious plate at a time. Come hungry...and Go Big!!!
