Very aesthetic restaurant with great food and amazing service! My friend and I started with drinks at the bar, but ended up staying there for dinner too because it was such a nice vibe. We shared oysters, crab cocktail, American dream sushi roll, and skirt steak. The American dream roll was insane... the set up was really cool, but it tasted even better than it looked. Everything else was delicious too, and we ended with creme brûlée for dessert. The staff was super kind too, and the sushi chefs were able to easily accommodate my friend because she didn't want the sauce on the roll, but on the side instead. We brunched here for my birthday when we couldn't get into @theshedrestaurant westbury location (2 hour wait!). So glad this was a last minute change! They had plenty of space, beautiful views, ample parking and the food was delicious! Host and servers were friendly and attentive as well. I did try one drink the Pink Rose and it was super strong... a bit too strong for me actually. The portions were much larger than expected and we ended up taking quite a bit home. Stand out was the 1776 Roll with lobster (my fav), well worth it! Absolutely delicious! We enjoyed the wings, slab bacon, the Toro & Jalapeño, Japanese Bagel While the other items were good, we definitely enjoyed the sushi more. The dessert was ok. Nothing spectacular for Tiramisu. The Union is a really cool spot with a unique menu that blends American dishes with Japanese influences. I did not try any of the Japanese items this time but I went with the aged ribeye steak and it was excellent. The price is on the higher side but aged steak usually comes at a premium and this one lived up to the expectation. I ordered it rare and it came out just right with amazing tenderness and flavor. I also tried the duck tacos which was quite a tasty surprise. The atmosphere is top notch with a stylish and relaxed vibe that makes the whole dining experience even better. The whole place is a wonderful elevated renovation from the previous Carltun. The Union is a great date night spot. Found ourselves a nice spot at the bar and were taken care of by Brie who was fantastic. She makes a mean dirty martini and guess what?! They actually have blue cheese stuffed olives. We also got the last word, it was strong and tart and the garnish was a literal cherry on top. For starter we chose the smoked fish cake. Despite the description I wasn't really sure what to except. It had an actual breading which is different from your typical crab cake which is usually bread crumbs. It was so crispy and good ratio of fish to potato inside. Atop was a zesty lemon remoulade and some dressed greens. The portion was great. Entrees we got the Picahna steak which came with a sriracha butter on top and steak fries. We asked for it to be cooked medium and they give the option to serve it sliced which is a nice touch. It was so tender and I loved the odd shape to the steak fries. They were just a bit too salty. We also got a roasted persimmon salad with sliced almonds and goat cheese from their specials menu. I asked for grilled chicken on top. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you it was the best grilled chicken. I usually stray from salads cause the grilled chicken is dry. It was seasoned well and so juicy. Beautiful establishment. The renovation is modern but not cold. We went in time for brunch and had the Korean wings to start which were small but tender and tasty. We also had the Cesar salad which was really good. Had the steak and eggs for my entree. Everything was cooked as requested. The Union is what recently replaced the old Palm Court Restaurant at Eisenhower Park. It's part of a complex by the golf courses that also includes a catering hall now called The Lannin (used to be the Carlton), and a cigar club upstairs ("The General"). Over the years, we always enjoyed the restaurant with friends and family, as well as the catering hall (where my brother was married). Both were elegant, upper crust, and in a nice park setting (golf course in back, well maintained trees and bushes in front, and a fountain off to the side). It took about this past golf season to completely redo both the interior and exterior, and what a beautiful job they did! There are thousands of new plants on the spacious grounds, the fountain was redone, and so were the walkways and outdoor furnishings. Inside the restaurant, the new floor and ceiling craftsmanship is top notch, seats were comfortable and the bar seems similar, except that one side was apparently converted to a sushi corner where we could see the chef under his white toque busily preparing creations. The only drinks we ordered were decaf cappuccinos, which were delicious and served in large cups. They came with one dessert (chocolate layer cake) big enough for all four of us to share. In fact, all of our meal portions were generous. We didn't order the most expensive choices on the menu (which you can see online) (and the bill came to about $200 without the tip), but we were all happy and likewise impressed with both quality and the chef's flair for adding pizzazz to the dishes. For example, my chopped salad included butternut squash, almonds, pomegranate and goat cheese, plus the add-on broiled jumbo shrimps. The waitress was friendly and both the chef and another guy stopped by to see how we were doing. I used to come here when it was the Carltun and I do have to say that they did a great job expanding and updating the place. Everyone there was incredible some of the nicest people you will have the pleasure of dealing with. Bridgette our server went above and beyond to make sure everything was timely and we did not go to long without being checked in on. Food was very good. We ordered the fork and knife fries , Japanese bagel , and lobster sliders all were very good with the Japanese bagel being the standout. Main course my wife and I split the burger and our friends split a steak and sushi roll with mac and cheese and creamed spinach on the side. Get the spinach leave the mac and cheese. Extremely disappointing. I'm thinking perhaps the normal chef was off last night, Friday, October 7th, because the food was literally awful. The fried calamari was drenched in bad oil, the broccolini, I can't even describe. It had an awful taste - like it was injected with lighter fluid. I had to actually remove it from my mouth and put it into a piece of bread. It must have just been rotten. The skirt steak was so tough. I cannot believe it cost $360 for three people and I could not even eat the food. The Union was so good! There's a lot of mixed reviews and I'm so happy that I didn't let it deter me from giving it a try. They have valet parking so right there it's a great start. We made reservations way beforehand and we only had to wait a minute to be seated. The staff was very attentive to every detail. For an appetizer, we went with the Korean bbq wings. They were fall of the bone good. For the entree, my husband went with Double Ranch Skirt Steak, he ordered steak fries as a side and they were one of the most amazing fries I've had. Different cut and perfectly crisp. I couldn't decide what to eat so I went with two sushi rolls. The Union roll and the rainbow roll were delicious. For dessert, my husband went with the tiramisu and I went with the special. Shout out to the bartender, the bee sting was perfectly made that I had to order another round. Wanted to try the Union after seeing some Instagram posts about it just opening in Eisenhower park. We came in at 6:30 on a Friday night for my husbands birthday- which I mentioned in our open table reservation, but wasn't acknowledged (sometimes you'll get a small dessert or something). It was raining that night, and they don't do the valet under the awning and the entrance is not close to the sidewalk. We had an umbrella so it was fine, but just a warning. It was fairly crowded when we arrived and stayed that way throughout our meal. It is loud inside, which is fine just something to be aware of. They have an interesting cocktail menu and we ordered the Elderberry spritz and Bee sting which we both enjoyed. They also have a decent wine list and we each got a glass of red with our main course. We started with the roasted beets and the japanese bagel. Both were REALLY tasty. The rice in the japnese bagel was fried to perfection and the seasoning on top was great. The main entrees weren't as good as the appetizers- we ordered the Skirt steak and the Steak sandwich. Both were cooked to our ordered temperature. The skirt steak was a decent size, but it was folded over on the plate. The chimichurri was only on the top portion, so by the time you got to the bottom there was none left. The broccoli rabe didn't have the bitterness cooked out of it at all. The french fries that the steak sandwich came with were really good and crispy. Overall a decent meal with good service- would try again as it seems like a good place for dining with a group and has a diverse menu. read more

Unfortunately, the service was slow & food very mediocre. It took 10 min for someone to address our table. We ordered bottle water, 1 cocktail, & a soda. Cocktail came out, no water or soda. We had to flag another server for our water. We ordered the following: Calamari- 3/5 not amazing but not terrible The Union roll- 2/5 didn't taste fresh & reminded of premade rolls at the supermarket Salmon-1/5 I asked for it to be medium well & it came out medium rare. They offered to cook it more but by this time I was ready go. Branzino- 4/5 had a nice flavor & if you love tomatoes&capers you should like this Mash potatoes- nothing special just your average Mash Unfortunately, I would not recommend this spot for dinner but drinks & apps perhaps. Came here for a holiday dinner with some friends. It's a trendy new restaurant with kind of a mixed menu. I started with the pink rose for a cocktail-nothing special to it so I switched to wine for dinner. My friends and I split the special pizza-which was Brie and prosciutto and it was fabulous! We also got the Korean wings-which had a nice kick to them and the tiger roll-tasted very fresh. Then for dinner we split the chicken parmigiana-which had vodka sauce and burrata & was not nearly as good as it sounded. It was cold and chewy. It came with a side of spaghetti that was tasty tho. We also got the gem salad and the truffle Mac and cheese. The gem salad was the highlight of the meal-the flavors mixed together so well. The mac and cheese was pretty good also-not too creamy tho. Here's another restaurant with a terrible dessert menu tho, nothing good or unique on there so we opted for some espresso martinis and the chocolate cake which came with blackberries on top and it was terrible. Disappointing First (and Likely Last) Visit to The Union I was genuinely looking forward to trying The Union, especially after hearing positive feedback from my daughter, who briefly worked there as a hostess. The restaurant is located within a county park, on a golf course, and presents itself as a higher-end, business casual establishment with refined ambiance and elevated cuisine. Unfortunately, my experience did not align with those expectations. ________________________________________ First Impressions & Atmosphere Even before stepping fully inside, the noise level was overwhelming. Opening the front door revealed a loud, bustling environment--far from the soft, relaxed atmosphere I had anticipated. Still, I decided to give the place a fair chance. As we were led to our table, we passed a crowded bar and a fairly full dining area. To my surprise, the attire of many guests did not reflect the stated "business casual" dress code; most appeared dressed for a casual outing, not upscale dining. We were seated at a small two-person café table, where conversation was difficult due to the volume. I found myself leaning in and raising my voice just to speak with my wife. Had it not been a busy Friday night with limited alternative options, we likely would have left. We stayed in hopes that the food and service would make up for the disappointing ambiance. ________________________________________ Drinks The drink pricing was another unexpected letdown. A basic Old Fashioned was listed at $22, and wine by the glass ranged from $18 to $22. While the wine list was reasonably varied and respectable, these prices are excessive--especially when you're hoping the bottle was opened recently. Just two drinks each for my wife and me would have pushed our bar tab near $100, which is something I simply can't justify. Fortunately for me, I don't drink alcohol, sometimes I will have a glass of Wine--just something I never got into--which probably makes it even harder for me to justify the cost of such beverages. I understand that restaurants rely heavily on alcohol margins to stay profitable, but in a place positioning itself as fine dining, pricing should feel fair and thoughtful. Instead, it came across as inflated. In the end, I ordered a seltzer with lemon. ________________________________________ Food & Dining Experience Unfortunately, the food did little to redeem the evening. While presentation was well executed, the quality, temperature, and flavor did not reflect the standards of fine dining. Bread Service: We were brought fresh bread and a small cup of olive oil for dipping. The bread was excellent--clearly fresh and well-prepared. However, the olive oil had a stale, linseed-oil-like aroma, suggesting it was either old or of low quality. Its green hue may have implied extra virgin olive oil, but the taste certainly didn't match. Appetizers: * Crispy Calamari: Chewy and overly greasy, with a texture that suggested it had been frozen or pre-prepared. While warm, it was far from fresh. * Burrata: Bland and dry, lacking the usual creaminess. The "prosciutto crust" tasted like store-bought bacon bits, and the squash had no grill marks or charred flavor-- "boiled and sliced" would be a more accurate description. If there was saba on the plate, it was undetectable. Main Courses: * Rigatoni Bolognese: The one dish that was served at a reasonably acceptable standard. It arrived hot, with good flavor and decent texture. The short rib portion was minimal, but overall, it was the best dish of the night. * Chicken Parmigiana: Unfortunately served cold in the center, though the top had been broiled to melt the burrata and crust the sauce. It wasn't awful in flavor, but it certainly wasn't good either--and serving it cold made it even more disappointing. Dessert: * Assorted Gelato: It was cold and tasted like gelato should. But since it's not made in-house and comes pre-packaged, there was no creativity or effort in presentation. Staff were attentive, professional, and timed their visits well. A manager even stopped by more than once to check in, which was appreciated and showed good attention to guest experience.
