Fried Mississippi Catfish Platter with huge delicious deep-fried onion rings
    Sharonda D.

"Crispy Onion Rings + Classic Comfort Food" 02-06-26 This place came highly recommended by a coworker, and I must say, it was worth the risk of trying something new. My husband and I came for an early Friday evening dinner, and we were genuinely impressed. Customer service was good, not over the top, but definitely decent and pleasant. The atmosphere felt comfortable and inviting. They played a nice mix of music (blues, soul, Tejano, light rock, country, and more) at a mid-volume on the overhead speakers. There were also mounted flat-screens, but they weren't turned on, which I actually didn't mind. One of the coolest perks is the self-serve ice cream station, and the ice cream is delicious. It has that old-fashioned, rich vanilla flavor, like the 1950s when food tasted much better. On top of that, although not self-serve, they also have a "Shakes & Malts and Warm Cookies" station, which is such a fun touch. The dining area is large with plenty of seating options, (booths and tables), and everything looked clean and tidy. They also have a self-serve beverage station that was clean and well-stocked. Now for the best part: the food! Just a heads-up, this place believes in large portion sizes, and I'm not mad at it! I ordered the Mississippi Catfish Platter, and it was loaded. It came with 4 large catfish pieces, Texas toast, onion rings, and two sides. I chose the creamy whipped potatoes and coleslaw. My husband ordered the Mississippi Catfish with fried shrimp and French fries, and his plate also came with Texas toast and onion rings. I tasted one of his shrimp and it was delectable! OMG! My only complaint is that the fish could have been fried a little crispier with a little crunch to it. It was just too soft for my liking. Food Ratings: Mississippi Catfish Platter -- 4/5: Delicious flavor, but it wasn't crispy/crunchy--more soft than I expected Shrimp & Catfish Platter -- 4/5 Mia's Queso Dip -- 3/5 Mashed Potatoes -- 5/5: Thick consistency but still creamy Onion Rings -- 5/5: Cooked to perfection--crispy and crunchy Coleslaw -- 3/5: Not my favorite. It had more of a vinaigrette vibe, and I prefer a mayo-based, tangy slaw French Fries -- 3/5: Served hot, but nothing special Overall, I highly recommend Mia's Table if you're looking for simple comfort food without all the fancy extras. The atmosphere is chill and relaxing, perfect for unwinding after a long work week or for those lazy nights when you just don't feel like cooking.

My friend suggested we try this place and I'm so glad we did! As the sign suggests "Southern Comfort Food" and they have it aplenty. Anything southern you could want. My friend had the chicken fried steak with real baked beans, not the fake ones some restaurants try to pass off and mashed potatoes with gravy; side note: their gravy is jalapeño gravy and I have mixed feelings about that, but my friend said it was good.... I'll take her word on that. I had a "Sides Plate" their version of a veggie platter, with Mac-n-cheese, sweet potato fries and hang on to your seats folks..... creamed corn! Yep you read that right.... creamed corn! The M&C was creamy delicious as were the SP fries and the creamed corn was top notch it was a bit on the peppery side as they seem to use white pepper so beware to the young and elderly who may be sensitive to pepper. They also have a free ice cream cone station which I was entirely too full to hit up. I highly recommend a trip out to check them out whenever you're looking for some good comfort food. Happy Eating!

    Country Fried Steak

I don't know what's the definition of southern food here but places like IHOP and Denny's can do some of these dishes better...the only the good thing is that my country fried steak were made fresh because it was hot. The crust however doesn't even stick on the steak itself and it was definitely excess of batter where some pieces doesn't even have any meat in it. Also the steak itself was dry so to speak. Furthermore ordering a cheeseburger with omitting some of the ingredients and ended up just getting a plain dry cheeseburger even if it wasn't instructed otherwise. If you are actually looking for southern comfort food this is not it.

As we walked in we were greeted and seated on a timely manner. So that was already a go! It's country and it's clean. Hubby and I came in on a Saturday afternoon to have lunch. We both ordered friend chicken with some sides like coleslaw and sweet potato fries. We both enjoyed and will come back again!

The food was really fresh, chicken fried chicken freshly fried, gravy and the coleslaw had great flavor! Priced reasonably as well. I did have to ask the staff to check on my food as others who ordered after me had already received theirs. Other than that I loved the experience. Wasn't able to try the free soft serve as the machine wasn't finished churning the ice cream

If you're looking for a consistently good chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak, Mia's table is the place. The pieces are massive, I just wish the jalapeño gravy had a little more..jalapeño presence but overall a solid gravy. I wasn't expecting to be such a big fan of the green beans, but they have a really nice Smokey flavor that just does it for me. The baked beans are good too.

Not Creekwood! I was seeking somewhere to eat that was close by my place of business, and that was open later, AND that served burgers to appease my three teenage burger-loving boys. This spot came in number two to one that I had not had a good experience at before, so we decided to give it a try. The fact that the reviews all said "family-friendly," "outdoor play," AND live music just made it more interesting. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was just great. The band playing was really good, the environment was welcoming, the staff was kind, and the service was superb. Matt was attentive, listened, had great recommendations, and just overall showed a level of attentiveness I'd not seen in recent times... We ordered a couple of different things - to start, the fried pickles were divine. They were a bit on the greasy side, but my kids devoured them! I ordered the captain's platter; my kids ordered burgers - one ordered the brisket potato, and not one of us left with doggy bags. The food came freshly prepared - nothing was cold, it was well-seasoned and aptly priced. Definitely a recommendation to try if in the area and in need of a wind-down with kiddos in tow. Adding to my faves for sure!

When it showed up I was amazed by the large pile of food. As I began to eat though, I started to get disappointed. I cut into my fried egg expecting it to run all over my plate, but it seems like it was cooked somewhere between over medium and over hard. I was looking for tasting the hot honey, which appears to be under the dish as opposed to on top of it. I was looking forward to a soft fluffy biscuit, but it too was over hard. The Chicken was well cooked, a bit thin, and I'm not sure that the breading tasted anything more like Captain crunch than it did any other breading. However every time I cut into it the breading kind of just fell off into the gravy. The gravy and potatoes were redeeming, with good flavor gravy and well cooked potatoes. Overall, it wasn't bad, I ate it all, I just expected better for my $17.

You can choose to sit either inside or outside. We went with the Houston Restaurant week menu which features some of their most popular dishes. For the appetizer, we tried the sautéed calamari and gumbo. The calamari had a nice creamy garlic sauce which paired well the sautéed bell pepper, onions, and tender calamari. Their gumbo is solid, not too spicy and had nicely cooked rice and a mix of toppings. The rice had a good bite and absorbed the flavor from the gumbo well. I would recommend the sautéed calamari. For entrees, we ordered the wild caught king clip and steak Diane. The very buttery king clip comes with sautéed spinach and is basted in a creamy, slightly lemony sauce which compliments both elements of the dish. The kingclip is garnished with micro greens and comes with an extra lemon for additional acidity, but I felt that it wasn't needed. The steak Diane had a medium cook and was soooo tender to the bite. I would recommend both, but partial towards the king clip if you want to try something unique! Lastly for dessert, I ordered the passion fruit crème brûlée which had such a unique flavor profile! The tartness of the passion fruit goes surprisingly well with the warm vanilla custard. The texture of the creme brûlée toasted sugar top was perfect as well and added a really nice crunch to every bite. My friend ordered their sticky toffee pudding, which was arguably the best one I've had yet. The toffee syrup is incredibly rich and adds a nice caramelized flavor to the ice cream and moist cake base. It's garnished with bits of sugary crumble and fruit. You really can't go wrong with either, but if I had to pick, their sticky toffee pudding is a must try. All in all, such a fun and intimate dining experience!

We were seated in a booth that felt quite cramped for a business meeting. Next time, we'd likely request a more open, well-lit table. We ordered several dishes, but the Chilean sea bass was disappointing. It was dry, lacked the buttery texture it's known for, and was quite bland. We also requested a side of hot sauce, but that request was overlooked. To end the meal, we planned to order coffee and toffee instead of dessert. After waiting nearly 30 minutes, we were told the coffee machine had broken. Unfortunately, by then the server seemed eager to wrap things up and didn't really give us the opportunity to consider any other after-meal options. Overall, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and we can see why it's popular, but the food execution and service fell short of our expectations, especially for a business lunch. We hope these issues were just an off day, as we'd like to give it another chance.
