Terrible old fashions. I sat at the bar and wasn't helped for around 10-15 minutes then when I finally was helped the bartender seemed annoyed I even came in. The old fashion I had was $14 and tasted awful they didn't even use luxardo cheeries. So we're sitting there waiting on someone to even acknowledge us , no one said we will right with you or took our drink order , so after about 4-5 mins we got up and started to walk out , a guy walked up and said can I get you anything , and we said the door . Went last night for the first time. Great ambiance from the outside with the boardwalk having live music and kids playing etc. When we went inside the hostess was not welcoming we had to say hi to have her talk to us. No one else was in the lobby so it's not like she didn't have someone else to greet. When a table was ready for the 3 of us she walked thru the crowded tables way far ahead of us and put the menus on the table and left before we got there. Our waitress was maybe new and maybe had too many tables to cover?! Our drink order was one water and one beer and one iced tea. The water and tea came out quick and the beer wasn't ready. She said the bar was backed up tonight and it would be out soon- so maybe the tap blew on the keg?! 10 minutes later the beer came out. It was canned. Why a 10 minute wait for a can of beer? We ordered the meatball with voodoo sauce appetizer- they were decent. The sauce is good. Presentation on the appetizer was meh- but whatever. We had to ask for plates and silverware to eat. For dinner, I ordered medium NY steak and mashed potatoes while my husband and dad ordered pasta dishes. I had to cut the first few bites of steak with my butter knife- it was more on the rare side and hard to cut with the knife. The hostess walked busy with another guest and I asked her for a steak knife and she came back with more silverware. Before she left I asked if it there was a knife in there and she laughed and said oh you wanted it for your steak. Whoops, I'll be right back. After I was able to get a couple bites in I realized my steak was pretty much flavorless. I asked for salt and pepper when our waitress came back. My water was empty as was dads tea and my husband wanted another beer but didn't want to wait 10 minutes so asked for it to be quicker this time. All items were delivered quickly this time- except a refill on the tea- that was never offered. The other tables near us were not being taken care of either and our waitress was being 'coached' by guests at each table within earshot of me. She needed help or less tables or something- maybe it was just an off night? Overall the location was great and so was my company but next time I'll go to ambrezia for the same view and good service. read more

Are you hungry? Are you looking at receiving reasonable service? Than this is not your places to attend. Before you make a Reservation at this low quality restaurant, make sure you have 2-3 hours to spare, Have patience, and you most importantly are not hungry. Arrived at the location at my reservation time, and was attended 10 minutes later after sitting, drinks arrived 10 minutes later and I placed my order, after waiting another 15 minutes I received a small appetizer. So now we are 35 minutes in and no food. Finally after another 30 minutes of waiting, still no food. Total of an hour of just sitting around and not seeing food come out from the kitchen. Guests around were also complaining of the low quality of service they have. If you plan to eat here, you may want to place an order 90 minutes before your reservation and MAYBE just MAYBE your food will be ready. read more

We were greeted as we came in. We even got our drinks within 20 minutes of sitting down. We ordered the shrimp and crab tower. The chef said he didn't want to serve it because he wasn't sure of the freshness of the seafood. 40 minutes later we had our second round of drinks and a different, but cold, appetizer. 60 minutes later, the table next to us got their food for four before we got our food for two. At that point, we asked for the check. That's when the food was brought to us, 70 minutes later, and the manager said have it anyway as the whole check was comped. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE RESTAURANT. Well tried this place again after three tries you are out. Made reservation still had to wait. Waitress was super impatient and we asked for paper menu as our phones were not working on the online menu which was denied to us. Ordered margarita which came melted after I asked for it a second time. Fries soggy and tasted like cooked in old oil. Only got two stars cause alcohol in drink was enough to almost make me forget about bad experience. read more

We were excited to try this place for the first time, but we won't be back. The food wasn't prepared with any care. The crab meat they used was gross, and the chicken fried steak was chewy and soggy. The saving grace would have been the eggs but they were almost raw. Rest of the table was disappointed as well. How do you mess up a hamburger? Had to get up several times to find someone to refill our beverages. Maybe we caught them on a bad day, but I don't think so. Eye contact dodging was in full effect by all the staff. I also ordered a $7 brunch bloody mary and was charged $12. I'd go somewhere else of I were you. read more

If I could have it zero stars, I would. I continue to try and give this place a chance bc of the location. We were seated at the bar and my friend told the bartender that she signed up for the rewards but was inside of how it all worked. The bartender swiped her card and told a she had a $25 credit for food. We had a few drinks and some appetizers. Our original bartender left and we had this sweet boy who was only two weeks in and in the weeds. I asked to speak to the manager who consistently cut me off and spoke down to me. Upon leaving, she said words and made faces that my friend saw, and called her out on. I wish I could give them a negative review. My tab was $220.46. They swipe my card for $100.00 and $186.27 and they stated that both transactions declined which is not true. The payments went through on my account. They wanted to swipe my card for a third time for the full balance $220.40, and I told them no since you have already swiped my card so many times that my bank has placed a fraud alert on my account. They told me that the general manager was going to come and speak with me about the situation and he never came and said a word. The manager Erin comes to the table and says we do not have to swipe the card again we fixed the issue. After, we have been sitting at the table 30 minutes after everyone has finished eating and being told that the payment was declined. This was a total embarrassment after knowing the money is in the account. I just want to thank them for ruining our Father's Day brunch. If you look at my Google review the manager Erin Stagner responded blaming me for them swiping my card multiple times. How ridiculous. read more

Best dining experience in a very long time! The food was great, but the staff was greater. My wife loved the Boost Bowl and I had the Greek wrap with truffle fries. Absolutely perfect. We have thought of going for some time, and were excited to visit. At first glance Union KItchen Boardwalk is a very nice restaurant in a trendy location. What it lacks is friendly staff, attentive wait staff, and any of the niceties that the location appears to try to obtain. Attention to detail suffers due to a gloomy staff. We arrived for our reservation a few minutes earlier than we intended to. Upon entering, the hostess appeared to be upset for some reason. Once she found our reservation in their system, we were escorted to our table. The crisp white tablecloths failed to soften the harsh noise level. After nearly fifteen minutes, our waiter took our drink order, never looking up from his notepad. He then disappeared for another ten minutes and returned with drinks asking if we were ready to order. We ordered normally. When the waiter happened by, the wife asked for sweetener for her tea, and the look on the waiter's face seemed to indicate he was horrified that she had asked. After another five minutes, he brought the sweetener from the bar a few feet away. Our drinks were never refilled until the check had been presented for payment. Our orders came out after another twenty minutes. The wife's pasta was smaller than expected in a bowl that was too large for the portion, making it appear miniscule. What was there was flavorful and she enjoyed it. I had ordered the Greek wrap with house made chips. The chips were stale, and chewy, not worth the effort to make in house, and an overall disappointment (Lays would have been 100% better). The wrap was cut diagonally in half but was not secured in any way, so in transport it began to open up, making it difficult to handle. The filling was oddly cut, and overly dressed with yogurt sauce, making it slippery causing it to fall out. I eventually gave up and ate it like a salad. Once the waiter came back we finally saw his face. He plopped down the check in a what appeared to be a dented, cigarette case. We paid, and met the loveliest hostess, as she held the door open for us to exit. Her smile lit up the entrance, probably because she had just started her shift. There are better restaurants in the location that the Union KItchen occupies. From Crepes to Mexican Cuisine, better options are available. Overall, a disappointment, and an opportunity lost. read more

Made reservations yesterday @3:45pm for 3 people. Upon our arrival there was a party of 4 standing in the front waiting to be seated but no one was at the desk. Meanwhile behind us was a line forming. I asked the party standing in front of me if they've been helped and said no one has helped. What is funny about this is imagine the entrance full of people and directly in front of you is what looks like a manager watching us the whole time just tapping her pen watching us but that was it, just watching. She had short blonde hair pulled back with big lashes. So I dislike that I had to approach her and ask her if she can help us. She had this annoyed look on her face, no smile happy that she had customers at the door or anything like that. So after they finally took the party of 4 in front of me. I gave her my name and told her that I made reservations for 3 and she looked me up and found me but instead of checking me in she put me down as a no show' because I just received an email from my open table app saying that I was a no show. What's with the extra rudeness? Managers if you're reading this take a look at the cameras and teach that one lady in particular to smile because life is great!!! Your food was great and our server was awesome as well! My Mom enjoyed her short rib plate and my husband enjoyed his chimichurri steak. I didn't like the way we were greeted at your front door, it happens I guess when someone is having a bad day and likes to spread it around. Went to The Union Kitchen today for breakfast. It was my first time eating out and at a restaurant since March. The general manager/or owner (not sure his exact role) could sense either I was new or not 100% comfortable. He smiled, waved, started a brief conversation and said thank you for visiting. A few minutes later, we were given beignets for our first visit in. The server we had was nice and very customer experience oriented. The service was quick, and the food was amazing. I had a smoked salmon Benedict with pickled onions. I will definitely be back due to the guidelines in place for social distancing, all staff had on gloves and masks. Very spacious to feel comfortable and not on top of others. Good food. Nice atmosphere. And, amazing service from start to finish. read more

Came for my friends graduation dinner, and she found hair in her food. Instead of responding like a professional individual, the lady that she complained to reassured her that none of the cooks have long hair, so it wasn't any of her cooks as if no one else on her staff had longer hair than the cooks and could've exposed the food to the hair she found. We ordered four different pastas, and they all came out four different colors and flavors. No one particularly enjoyed their order enough to want to come back. It was my first time coming this past Saturday and I absolutely LOVED IT. Everything from the people, to the food, and how clean everything was. Rob (I believe the manager), was so incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The staff seems so friendly and on top of everything. I got the Peggy Lobster and, wow. They did not hold back on the lobster as they give you a good amount and it was so fresh! On top of that, the mimosas were delicious and so affordable - penny refills! I came here for the first time for a weekday lunch. The place wasn't very crowded and our server was very attentive. We ordered two entrees to split. We got the Doris summer salad and substituted chicken for the shrimp and requested the balsamic dressing. This was a delicious combo! Very fresh and generous portions of the ingredients. We also got the grilled chimichurri hanger steak which came with cheddar grits and roasted veggies. This was incredible! My mouth is still watering.
