On October 23, I had Ava at this UPS store pack and mail a large number of items (the remainders of a storage locker of personal items I'd just cleaned out). The total cost was more than $600, which was perfectly fine as it included what would end up being at least six boxes plus a guitar and a bike. It was very busy when I went in there. Ava didn't have time to pack my items right then so she put all of them in the back room for their packer who would be in later to pack the items into boxes. Weeks later, in mid-November, no boxes had arrived. I email the branch and Ava replied. We then talked on the phone. She said she needed to arrange for a date for freight delivery of the items. It didn't make much sense to me as none of the boxes would be unusually heavy, but sure, ok. Then she stopped replying to emails and voicemails. And time went on without the items arriving. Another month later, a few days before Christmas, two boxes arrived. Oddly, the boxes had labels saying Next Day Air. I checked the tracking numbers on the UPS site and, surely enough, they had just been mailed the day before. Strange as it was, it was a hopeful start so I waited to see if more would come. None did. I emailed again after Christmas to ask for all of the tracking numbers of the boxes they'd packed for me but never received a reply. So, now I'm without most of my personal items I'd mailed, can't get responses from this branch, and don't have tracking numbers I can use to report to UPS as missing. At a minimum, I would say no matter how how nice they are, if you have them pack items for you, do not leave until they've been packed and you have tracking numbers. They are way too busy for the number of people working there, they're stacking people's items everywhere, and if they make a mistake, they are afraid to own up to it. It would have been nice to assume it wasn't them who lost my packages and instead was lost by UPS in transit, but unfortunately it's hard to come to that conclusion. read more

NEVER use this UPS store. I went into their store on 12/20/2014 to have two lamps and two lampshades packed and shipped to my address in Dallas, Texas. Ava, the Store Manager, took my order for 1) packaging my lamps 2) shipping them to my address in Texas. As of 3/05/3015 I STILL have not received half my shipment. it should be noted I paid $203.90 to have these items packed and shipped, and I have only received the lamp shades after almost three months. I called the UPS Store several times to inquire about my package in January and February. Finally on 2/23/2015 the Store Manager, Ava, called me back and said my lamps had NEVER gone out, and she was shipping them right away (and explained that she had been out of the office for a month and a half. Why this is relevant, I am not sure). On 02/28/2015 I received only the lampshades to my lamps, or only half my package. I have no idea where my lamp bases are. I just got off the phone with the UPS Store Corporate headquarters to report this store. As of now, I do not have a resolution for this issue. I am still waiting for both the Store Manager, Ava, and UPS Store Corporate to get back to me. I have also filed a complaint with UPS Shipping Corporate as this store is not a good representative of the UPS brand. read more

The last several times I've gone in to this location, the same woman has been working. Based on other reviews, I'm guessing it must be Ava. I never had a terrible experience here, but this woman embodies customer service. My husband and I have both had fantastic experiences with her and have remarked on how amazing she is. Friendly, greets you with a smile as soon as you walk in, even as she helps other customers; checks if folks are just dropping off so they don't have to wait; makes helpful recommendations and is just an all around pleasure. I miss when customer service was a thing provided in the retail world (after providing it myself for many years) and am thrilled that it exists here. I strongly warn you from using this location. I am a Los Angeles business owner who has a UPS box for receiving packages for my business, as I dispatch out of my home. When our customer asked us to travel to Northern California to to an installation for them, I did my due diligence and research for a company that would accept our shipment on a one time basis. We contacted this UPS store to inquire if they provided this service. They said the one time fee for them to receive our equipment for us would be $3 per box. They said we had 7 days to pick them up. They gave us shipping instructions and we then shipped 36 boxes to be picked up by our technician when he arrived. Once they received our boxes our technician arrived to pick up the boxes well under the 7 day period (approximately 3 days after delivery). When our team arrived they told them that the fee was $5 per box per day! They refused to gives us our equipment unless we paid them $540. We had no choice but to meet their demands in order to complete our project on time. I sent in a dispute to the credit card company. This is not the amount quoted or agreed upon. The store submitted fraudulent documents stating I signed and agreed to them. My signature was forged on the documents as if I signed and agreed to the amount. MAILBOXES NOT SECURE!!! Still waiting on promised refund from Ava 2 months later! I rented a mailbox here as the location is excellent - right near Nob Hill foods and open till 7 pm so I could grab parcels. What happened next was awful. It turned out my key opened not only my mailbox but several others; the whole system is not secure at all. I had signed on for a 15 month term and after discovering this (2 weeks into my rental term) I called in and immediately asked for a refund. I originally spoke with Michael, a friendly young man and he assured me his manager Ava would contact me that day. After 2-3 more calls I finally heard back from Ava. She explained that this can happen at any store and corporate is working on it, something about the locks etc. Okay whatever... sounded like bs but she agreed to giving me a full refund. Now here is where it got bad... I came in a day later for the refund and was never given a full refund. Instead when I got there I was able to get a refund minus a $65 cancellation fee. I was outraged! We talked it over and Ava agreed I was entitled to a full refund given the circumstances and promised to be in touch in two days as she had to get a code to put into the computer from corporate. Well not only did she never call me back again, but she has been dodging my calls for weeks now. Every Monday and Friday I call, talk to Michael and ask for Ava the manager or to speak with the owner. I leave a message 2-3 times a week and no one ever calls me back. This whole mess started in July. It is now September and I have called at least 20 times now and have gotten nowhere. Ava promised me a full refund and is now refusing to deliver on her promise and avoiding me. I had to end up filling a chargeback on my credit card just to get this solved. Stay the hell away from this store. I have never experienced such poor service or had someone lie like this. read more

Excellent service. We had to return multiple Amazon items, including two 3 foot-long X 1 foot-wide boxes for umbrellas: somehow, instead of generating individual labels for each item for shipping or easy return at a Kohl's or other storefront: Amazon only generated one QR code and one UPS return label for Everything. It HAD to be in one box. We arrived just before closing with all these packages and the UPS truck was loading up for the last shipment of the day when Gagan, who was super friendly and helpful, went to the back and managed to find a box just big enough to accommodate all 4 oddly shaped packages. They've always seemed a little overwhelmed but I put up with the slow service because they were sweet. But, no more. The new woman I've interacted with a couple of times is just really in over her head. She couldn't answer my questions even though she said she'd been there a few weeks. I had to send a large package back to China so I stopped by hoping I can package my stuff inside. I was told I cannot do it (despite purchasing the actual packing material) Fine, I got it done in my car. Then I went in and got a quote for the shipment from the manager (who was extremely knowledgeable and professional) as I was even given a discount to reduce shipment by 50%. I thought it was my lucky day. SHe promised that the items would be shipped the next day and would be delivered one week from the shipping date. I was told I would receive an email with the confirmation/tracking number the next day. So why the 1star? Well, I never received any further email from the store, or the manager. I had attempted to contact the store several times and the girl at the counter told me to leave my contact and email number, as well as the copy of the receipt so they can send me the tracking number. It has been 3 weeks and I have not even received the tracking number, let alone the package. I tried calling today again and I was told to use the Parcel shipping order as my reference number on the ups website to track the package. Then she hung me up stating she will look into this. I may ship a lot but I'm definitely not a newbie. I had done my share of research before calling the office to get the tracking number as the website or the corp UPS store is not able to retrieve the information for me. If I knew I would had to go through so much hassle to ship my package, I would had gone with usps. Before arriving at the store, I had a long conversation over the phone about whether they would be open if I arrived about 20 minutes before closing and was also told I could email them my shipping label and they could print it for me at no extra cost and not to worry and that they would still be open. So when I rushed in a few minutes before closing, everything went smoothly... until the she rang me up and requested that I pay $4... like what?! I'm staring at her.. like you are seriously.. going ...to charge ...me ... $4 for a half page "ups shipping label"...? She just stared back and said that's the price. It's so bizarre because last time - I actually did not have to paying for anything... and the phone rep didn't say anything about paying $4! Despite my obvious shock, my husband paid for it - And I felt really awful and just truly disgusted ... it's these specific moments in life that make you appreciate that there are other shipping companies that exist (like FED-EX). They may not be the most friendly but at least they are honest. Do NOT make the mistake of going here and asking them to print anything. Wow, this is my last time ever coming here. -3 stars for misleading me on the phone and another -.5 for the woman actually charging me the full $4 and not even bothering to check to see if the title company (receiver) who purchased the shipping had an account with ups... This location can get very busy during peak hours, so to save time and money, it would behoove you to have your packages already assembled and labeled for shipment before arriving. If you can't get around to pre-assembling your items, this store sells everything you may need to package your goods, from brown paper to bubble wrap to printing services for labels. Also, if you have a package to drop off with a pre-paid label affixed, there is no need to wait in their long lines, they have a piled high drop off area to the left of their register. read more

After a rather unusual waiting line outdoors (with 4 UPS employees manning the store), when I dropped a return parcel with a UPS label and asked if I could get a receipt (like I am used to get at FedEx and most UPS stores), I was told that this particular USP store location did not hand out receipts. When I acted surprised and mentioned I was used to get a receipt as a proof, I was advised to investigate as they were not obliged to. I was then told I could write down the tracking number (as I did not have my smart phone with me at the time). When I mentioned this was rather lousy service after a rather long waiting line, the manager told me he did not have to accept my package and showed me a sign with the address of an Oakland UPS store. The store closes at 7:00pm, but I called at 7:30 asking if they were still open, and the lady was so sweet and said I could come by since she was still there. 2 stars for the convenience of it being right by my house... I'd give it 1 star because there's a $10 minimum purchase or else pay with cash... we're in 2014... Why can't their credit card system just work like everyone else? Who the hell carries cash anymore? I had to ship out a return item to amazon, return receipt was paid for, all I needed was the packaging. Being served was quick but once the cashier found out that I had no cash on me to pay for the $2 envelope he had an attitude and said "I'll only do it this one time". GEE THANKS FOR THE FAVOR. This review is long overdue; but I was really happy to peruse through a few reviews of this UPS location and see that Ava has been getting rave reviews. I work in corporate retail and don't feel like the field ever get's enough credit for what they do to keep customers coming back. I used to work next to the UPS on Bayfarm, they aren't rude but they are not friendly or as attentive as the UPS on Blanding, so I switched. A few months ago I was in the store and Ava was helping a customer ahead of me. She as always provided exceptional customer service to this individual; the woman mentioned that it was the first time she'd ever gotten such great service there, and kind of poo poo'd on her previous experiences there. That was when I decided to review- because I've always received outstanding service at this location, not just from Ava but the entire staff. Everyone that works here is always smiling, greets you as soon as you walk in the door and thanks and acknowledge's you if there is a wait, no matter how slight it is. I figure this all stems from the positive leadership from Ava & management, Ava is super friendly and remembered my name after I went in there 2 days in a row. It's definitely cheaper to go to USPS but, the shorter wait and great attitude and friendliness of the staff here keeps me coming back here. The reviews for UPS Stores across the Bay are mixed. Most of them on the low end, but some are on the high. One thing you can be sure of is when you walk into this location, you are greeted with a warm smile and hello (usually accompanied by a wave). No confirmation number needed on service! You have to try it. I have a box there for my deliveries to the Foundation and business to ensure my shipments are delivered and not left at my door when I am not there. Did you know that UPS stores are franchises? Anyway, I shipped a package that was waaayyyy overpriced but at the time I just shrugged my shoulder and thought they must have weighed it correctly I guess but wasn't going to contest it since I was in a hurry. The guy who helped me must have been the franchisee, older Asian gentleman. It kinda bothered me a bit so when I got home I looked at my notes I wrote down about the weight and dimensions of the package and plugged it in the ups.com price calculator. Well, well, I was charged an extra $7.00! What a cheat. I now take it to the actual UPS facility in Oakland by Hegenberger even if it's an extra drive. Beware. read more

After going to the Marina Village store first, since it is close to my house, and experiencing the rudest customer service ever (for like the 5th time in a row), I came over to the Blanding location. Not only was I net with a smile when I walked in, every employee member inside seemed jovial and happy to be there, despite the fact that it was almost closing time. I needed to have a document notarized and send back two Amazon items. The notary got his supplies right away and we had that situated in about 5 minutes or less. We then scanned my Amazon items, paid and was out of the store in under 7-8 minutes. While it is a bit of a drive to this side of the island, it is worth it for the excellent, welcoming customer service. read more

The absolute worst! I had a package arrive at 11am. Since I had errands to run I'll get it in the afternoon. Got to the ups store around 2pm to pick up my package and when I got there one of the workers, look like the manager, told me the package wasn't ready. I was a little bit puzzled by his answer. He told me there should be a 4hr grace period when my package arrive so then can get my package ready. He told me it was in this little pile. I told him I see my package just get and I'll be on my way. He said no, I have to wait until 3pm come back and my package would be ready. Wtf?! So I just waited in my car until 3pm went in, he looked at me, rolled his eyes, and finally got my package. He had to put some sticker on it before a scanning, I'm assuming within the hour he never even got to my package until I show up at 3pm. Wow! I'm dumbfounded. I've use this ups many times before but never had I had this experience. Needless to say, I'm looking elsewhere before I ever use this place again. STAY AWAY! read more
