Labor: estimate 30 seconds of labor @ $18/hr = $0.33 Material: 500 sheets @ $64 = $0.13/sheet Profit (12%, which is reasonable): $0.06 TOTAL should be $0.52 (plus or minus some other overhead) Amazon is happy to print return labels if I need to return something to them. I will drive to work, print out my own label, and come back just so that I don't support this ridiculous pricing. Stop price gauging your customers. read more

Once I forgot to bring a bag for my return and Gagan was kind enough to provide me a bag for it so I didn't have to make another trip. I want to thank Gagan for resolving the issue of a mishandled parcel in an easy and effective manner. A package I had sent was apparently stolen (?). In any case, it never arrived. Avoid this establishment. My experience with this business and it's shameful owner was appalling. Unfortunately I chose this UPS location to mail a birthday gift to a critically ill family member who was in the hospital. I paid a VERY high shipping price for expedited delivery -- over $60. When the package wasn't received by the birthday, I went back to this store and learned that it had been sent through standard mail. I spoke with the owner who read a bunch of boilerplate fine print to me about shipping during the pandemic and refused to give me a refund. There is absolutely no reason other than employee incompetence or outright fraud why I was charged for overnight delivery when the package was sent through US snail mail...not even UPS service! Using the pandemic as an excuse is b.s. This proprietor should be ashamed. Take your business to him at your own risk. read more

I have had my mailbox here since they first opened 10 years ago. They have always treated me like a VIP and it is disappointing to see these one star reviews which don't reflect the quality of their business! All of the staff are professional and from what I have always observed treat customers with respect and courtesy! I have been to this store many times. The manager, Gagan, is always super helpful and positive. Even during times when I was feeling stressed and short-fused, Gagan has been professional and kind. I never have to wait long when there are several customers cued up to send packages. I have also used their notary services on several occasions and I highly recommend them. I wish I could give zero stars. They packaged a computer for me I paid $500+ for them to deliver it. They lost it and now won't refund my shipping charge. I am out thousands of dollars, a computer, 2 months of time. They told me if I dispute the charge for the shipping cost (as it wasn't delivered at all and lost) I won't be able to get the insurance claim for the item itself. WHAT Now they want me to settle for thousands less than what the item was worth. Stay far away from this location and UPS in general, the single worst experience I've ever had I my entire life with a company and specifically this single location and the staff/manager that run it. I had an incredibly weird interaction here today with one of the young women that was working. When I got to the front of the line with my various packages, the first thing I was told was next time I shouldn't wait in line and I can just drop off. Ok, well, only one of my packages had a label, the other two were Amazon returns that needed to be packed and labeled by the store itself, per Amazon return instructions. I explained this to her and she just kept repeating that I can just drop off, don't wait in line. I further said that I needed a printed drop off confirmation receipt for the non-Amazon package, and I received pushback on that as well. At first, just being told, "We don't do that here." I explained I needed a printed confirmation for my employer, to which she responded that I can just take a photo of the label and use the tracking number. I still needed the printout at the request of my employer. Maybe we're too old to understand all digital everything? At ages 32 and 48 we remember what it's like to work in a pre-digital everything world. And sorry, UPS store, you are very much being paid to provide a material service. Despite my explanation that I required a printed copy for work, she continued to argue with me. Just 10 minutes before I'd been at USPS and they provided a printout as a standard. The UPS store in San Rafael also gave me a printout on Friday of last week, no questions asked. Eventually she did it, and advised "Next time don't come in saying you got a receipt from us before. We won't do it again." Um? I would love to speak with a manager about this specific policy, because it has never once been an issue at this or other UPS locations. Really, very poor customer service and a very rude employee. If the reluctance to provide a printed receipt is to reduce the physical exchange of things like printed receipts (as noticed at Old Navy in Novato a few days ago), that would be different, and I would understand, but it needs to be explained or displayed clearly. I suggest that the store employees take a breath, slow down a little bit, and work on effective and clear communication with customers. A couple of years ago I had another very bad experience when I paid a lot of money to send something to Canada. It sat at their location for over a month before the store sent it out, and by the time it reached its destination the recipient had moved. read more

I had a package I had to return to Amazon recently. The app told me I had to take it to a UPS Store. I went to the one closest to my house with my 7yo daughter, and was very upset to see that they had closed 20 minutes prior. I think it was 7:20 pm, on a Sunday. I could see workers inside at the till, closing out, as I tried the door and it was locked. I swore loudly, and turned to head back to my car with the bulky, oversized package. The worker came out, and said I could come in! Hallelujah! By doing so, he totally made my night. There was even an older gentleman who saw us inside and came in to access his postal box when we were on our way out, and the worker (whose name was Gagan) was kind and polite to him, as well. Gagan was so nice and pleasant, he made a tedious chore I thought I wouldn't be able to complete easy and into a pleasant, reinforcing exchange. I will definitely use this location for all my associated needs, in the future. read more

My review is based entirely on my experiences doing Amazon returns and one Zappo return. I've never shipped anything from this store. I really want to commend the employees at this store for providing amazing service every. single. time. They are always courteous, helpful, and efficient. I think the longest I've ever waited in line is 2 minutes. There have also been a couple of times where I've been "That Customer" (I promise I tried not to be) and the employees were patient and accommodating each time. As far as essential workers go, I would say that these guys (along with everyone else providing a service during the pandemic esp. during Shelter in Place) they are typically underappreciated and very likely undercompensated considering the risks they take to show up to work each day. This makes me even more grateful for the amazing job that they do each time I go in. I should bring them some donuts, right? read more

He took the time to understand what I needed, showed me the printed list of box sizes, and then suggested a box size not on that list. I wouldn't normally bother writing a review for a shipping center, but I thought this one deserved special mention. I live in Emeryville, but after some bad experiences with the UPS Store there, I decided to try out this one in Alameda after reading all of the good reviews. Boy am I glad that I did! I've had two experiences with them now and both of them went very smoothly. The first time, they created a custom box for me to ship a large auto part (it was like 5 feet long). Generally, you don't ask for much from a shipping center. As long as they can get your item out on time and not damage it, that's good enough. But this place gets the extra star for the customer service from Ava. Ava is extremely cordial, and also very knowledgeable about shipping. You really couldn't ask for more from an employee. The bottom line is, I now drive to here from Emeryville every time I need to ship something - it's well worth the peace of mind that I gain! read more

UPS Blanding Avenue is one of the worst UPS stores I have ever dealt with. I wanted to use one of their mailboxes because Oakland is a dumpster and everyone steals your mail. I received an email for the FIRST package I had sent to this location, and when I showed up to the store, they said it wasn't there. Apparently, an email telling you that your package has arrived doesn't mean your parcel has arrived. After a painful conversation with the employee, I had to contact the sender to get my items. This resulted in me spending more of my time and energy on their mistakes). I decided to cancel the mailbox after two more confusing emails. Oh, and they also chose not to refund me the remaining time. If you're looking for a shipping service that keeps track of your items, and reliably tells you when they've arrived, this is not the store for you. But if you're into wasting your time and having senseless, circular conversations, be sure to check them out. read more

I came here a month ago to return an amazon package. The moment I came in, there was already an issue the elder Asian man from other reviews his name is Joe the business owner said "it's not in a sealed bag." I'm assuming due to Covid-19 they're just taking more precautions. He gave me a tiny bag to put it into which I tried to do. He said "no not here go outside." Well okay whatever I was returning a QUEEN sized pillow bed cover. It's not that small but I tried to squeeze it into the bag he gave me anyways. Trying to stuff it into the thin bag ripped it. I came to tell him and he said no there's no way it can just rip like that. What would I gain for lying about that?!?!?! He handed a different bag to the man next to him, told him to service me, and to CHARGE ME $1.50. ALL AMAZON RETURNS ARE FREE WHEN AMAZON PROVIDES THE LABEL. After all of this, a month later. THEY DID NOT SHIP/RETURN THE ITEM FOR ME. I contacted amazon because there's no status on my return and I was told the carrier never updated on the tracking that amazon never received the item as well. read more

I've tried to use this UPS store twice now but it was mysteriously closed even thought it was supposed to be open (I went middle of the day on Saturday). The one time I actually managed to get inside they were perfectly helpful. Today I was in the store attempting to do an amazon return, as social distancing is in place I was waiting in line outside of the store for a while a man came out saw I had an amazon return and preceded to help the people behind me. I continued to wait in line and after about 20 minutes I was finally ushered to the desk. I put the amazon return on the scale and the man said that he needed my return to be covered I told him I didn't understand what he was saying and then he started touching my package saying that the fabric wasn't sanitary I explained that amazon doesn't say anything but to bring the item in and show the code. I also asked why he was touching my item without gloves if he didn't feel the fabric was sanitary...? A customer told me to just wrap the item in tape so I thanked him and wrapped the item in tape. The ups person then told me that the tape was his property and he could refuse service to me and he didn't want me touching his property. When I asked if he had an issue servicing a black person, he proceeded to yank the tape out of my hands. I explained to him that I didn't want the tape I was only using it because apparently there is a new rule that is not posted about bringing in packages. He again told me he was refusing me service. I asked for his business card. He told me he didn't have to give me his business card. I asked for his name he said his name was Joe and that he was the owner and again told me to leave. NEVER have I ever been treated with such disrespect from a manager or owner of any establishment. What should have been a quick pleasant 60 second transaction turned into the mosh hostile transaction I could have imagined. I will never go to the location again. It appears the only way to get good service here is if you aren't a visibly brown person. read more

Came here to shred a couple of boxes of documents. Not cheap, but better than storing them for a freebie day of shredding with some local community group. Had to wait in line during this weekday morning, so this place is surprisingly busy. Guy behind the counter did a great job serving everyone in line. I trusted him to shred my documents. Pretty easy shopping center parking. A must when you're hauling around heavy boxes of documents. read more

Let's start with if I could give a ZERO star review I would. I rarely post and usually it's because of outstanding service or supporting my local spots I frequent. I will preface this by saying I have frequented this particular ups store before and even during the pandemic and have had a satisfactory and even friendly experience. I'm posting this to WARN others who have prepaid or other Amazon business for returns that the self proclaimed (could be true) I don't know - Joe (wouldn't give his last name ) will NOT give you a receipt when you request it. He's also fairly rude about letting you know that if you need a receipt that feel free to take your package to another location. I politely asked why this is and he responded that he's not obligated to give a receipt for these drop offs and that he's the owner and that he doesn't have to explain himself. This was the weirdest interaction I have EVER had without any context that leads up to escalated frustration. Joe was unapologetic and somewhat proud of being a generally rude to me. I'd expect this from some old fashioned industrial shops - BUT not from a franchised service provider. And to top it off - my wife had a similar experience when I asked her to drop off a prepaid ups package. Mind you - Joe comes at you without warning and any provocation. I feel sorry for his employees Nevertheless - I never wish for ill on businesses but I think this guy is a pos and deserves to be educated. I used to do my amazon returns at Kohl's, but with them being closed, I decided to try the UPS Store at Blanding Ave. Amazon says "No need to box your items, just bring them in and they'll do it for you". Great. So I bring my two items to the UPS store and the rude clerk tells me that the two items have to be in one bag or he can't take them. And then proceeds to tell me that he would sell me a plastic bag for $1.50! What?? I walked out of there and I'll never go back. That was just lame and ridiculous.
