If I could give zero stars I would. Sams is rude and unprofessional, not only did he not provide decent service but when I asked him for his name he encouraged me to leave a bad review. I waited patiently for my turn, and when it was, in the middle of him assisting me he turned to assist someone else. When I asked if he could finish with me he said it will only take 30 seconds. This is after him already taking 40 seconds to assist her, why couldn't she wait 30 seconds so he could finish with me? Then Sams proceeded to argue with me, I work in customer service, if I'm assisting someone I complete that task before moving on to someone else. I went in this morning and received horrible service. I had sent a 6 page fax previously and the recipient did not receive one page. The UPS staff had tried 3 times previously to get the full package through. When I returned to have her send the missing page, she insisted on having me pay for a cover sheet and the missing page ($4.75 charge). Courtesy is not a feature of this store. Their fax machines are not reliable or up to date. Consider walking one half block to 77 East 125th ST to DIRECT PRINT STORE and get affordable, courteous, and efficient service. read more

The worst customer service I have encountered in my life. A package I've sent got lost in transit. Called to get a refund and it was impossible. Called multiple times. I was told I was going to get a call back with the claim response. Never got a call therefore I called again and the lady on the phone was the most disrespectful agent i've ever encountered. Did not let me talk or explain my situation, interrupted me every other sentence, told me that was going to call me back (which at this point we all know is a lie so you stop bothering them), at the end she hanged up on me. 1. the guy rang up the shipping label and put it on my package without telling me the price ($12.95) 2. UPS did not give my package recipient a chance to pick up the package from their center since he was not home the 3 times they attempted to delivered ( middle of the work day). they just sent the package BACK to new york from boston after the third attempt even though he left a note for them saying he would pick it up. it was a drop and release package so they were supposed to drop it off after the third attempt. 3. I'm told someone will call me back about this error, no one calls in 24 hrs 4. I call back and the guy gives me attitude and tries to pretend they didn't make a mistake when they previous employee already told me they made a mistake. by now the package is a week late. 5. I have to call headquarters because the guy is giving me a nonsense excuse. Headquarters tells me that because the driver did not feel like bringing it to a pick up location or leaving it at the door even thought my friend requested it by note. The man at the store was negligent to tell me that the package might not be held at a pick up location if i didn't pay for signature, even when i mentioned my recipient wouldn't be able to pick up the package during the work day. ( update lady from headquarters said it didn't even need a signature for that the recipient could go online to request) 6 have to call corporate office to get a refund issued because the lunatic at this store is too narcissistic to acknowledge he and UPS in general made a mistake. 7. After speaking with 7 different people on the phone, It was confirmed that since the package was drop & release I am owed a refund ( why could the store employee not figure that out?) I had to call corporate two more times to ensure i received the refund because the Madison Ave store refused to process the request. The checks on its way in the mail, i sent the package by post office instead & it got there in 3 days with no issues. 8. will never use UPS again, what a waste of time. read more

I'm am shocked at how poor of service I received from this store was. I  shipped a package from this location weeks ago, and the item got lost in transit. I've had to jump through all of ups's hoops to file a claim in order to get a refund. Long story short I had to file a claim and send it over to this store which I did via email. The only reply I ever received was there auto message saying we will respond to you soon. I called the store and they didn't answer either. I had to show up in person, and they told me ups needs to investigate the situation which could take 8-10 weeks to complete, before they can give me a refund. For a $17.00 shipping fee, I would have thought the customer service would at least be decent considering how expensive it was, but apparently not. I got screamed at for calling this location. I didn't even ask a question I said hello I have a question To the person on the other line. And the man on the phone didn't let me say anything - he just interrupted and said call 1800 #. I said let me ask you first maybe you can help. I asked my question and he said I can yes bring my package in. When I brought the package in he was so mean! Unpleasant and just straight putting my down and talking to me as if I was annoying him and I was stupid. Making me feel bad for asking a question. I asked him what his problem was and said to him you are being very rude to me on the phone and in person and he said I don't have time to answer your questions "I'm busy". I said that is part of your job, customer service. He said he screamed and said this is a franchise WE DO NOT do customer service and he can't be bothered BECAUSE ITS NOT PART OF HIS JOB. I said why are you being mean I don't understand your giving me a bad attitude he starting screaming. Literally embarrassing himself. And started cursing at me to get out and gave me the middle finger!! I am going to report him and the store. But I doubt that will impact him. But I will do anyway. The man who was working in the UPS Store on Madison Ave just north of 96th St at 8:45am on Fri, Feb 28, either hates women, his job, his life or sunlight in general. Don't take his abrupt, unhelpful demeanor and utter lack of initiative and wherewithal personally as the grey cloud that surrounds him has nothing to do with you. Handle your brief business within this metaphorically dark establishment and return promptly into the light and love of your bright and beautiful life while he hunches over his phone in the back of the store waiting for something (or nothing at all) to happen to him. As long as your packages get where they are supposed to go in a timely manner, remember that people like him dwell in the minority of the population. I understand that people are frustrated with UPS as a shipping company but I can't find a fault with this UPS store. The customer service representatives here are so kind. I usually come in with at least two of my three children and the gentleman or the lady whom I regularly encounter are always helpful and always have a smile. They do their best to get people's needs met quickly so no one seems to be waiting on a never-ending line. My family currently resides in a town home and sometimes receiving packages can be sketchy so if given the option I always have my packages shipped to this UPS. I'm really glad they're in my neighborhood. I've also had them ship stuff for me and they've been so diligent offering me different options and letting me know the delivery dates for each option. read more

After spending weeks trying to communicate with the main UPS line regarding a pending claim on a lost package, I reached out to this UPS store for assistance. I spoke with Julio (the manager, I believe), who was apologetic for the loss, friendly, professional and efficient. He took the time to call a special UPS helpline and was able to clarify what I needed to do. I was really impressed with his willingness to help me during a hectic day, complicated by a surging pandemic and horrible weather (from the noise in the store and from a couple of pauses to give advice to other workers, it was clear that they were very busy). Nevertheless, he gave me as much time as I needed. His assistance was very helpful and greatly appreciated. read more

One of the worst stores to which I have been. Extremely rude workers, that are unethical and lazy. I overheard them talking badly about a customer and their baby as well. Have been there 5 or 6 times given their proximity but will never go again. There worst action is that we trusted them to mail important government information and it never arrived at the government office. We showed them the confirmation receipt several times and they claimed they sent it but the government office never received it. They then promised a refund of $30 and we have asked 3 times and still have not received it. So now we have missing personal information and lost money. read more

This store is a rip-off. I was sending a large envelope to a PO box address via USPS. The guy showed me a priority envelope and said it would cost $31. I said that sounds expensive, so he did some magic and said it's now $21. I still didn't believe him but he said it was because of "tracking". USPS priority is always "tracking". And it's $6.70. So I canceled my shipment and went to the post office. Later I looked at the receipt he gave me (before I canceled), and saw that it was marked "package". Which is how they try to rip you off. Worst customer service! It has a very rude, irresponsible and disrespectful manager. If you want to be treated as a decent human being and receive the attention you deserve, I recommend avoiding this location by all means. My package was misplaced and the people at this store did nothing to help me recover the package. Don't use this as a UPS Access Point location since it looks like the delivery confuses the UPS store with the residential building next door. This UPS store has the worst customer service I ever encountered. And UPS as a company should penalize the people that work in this store. I went to pick up a package that said it was delivered at UPS Access Point™ Location, THE UPS STORE, 1392 MADISON AVE, NEW YORK, NY,10029, US. The representative in the store told me that they didn't have my package and it was probably delivered in the residential building next door. So, I ask if they were going to help me recover it since it still is in the UPS system, and it still is their responsibility. They did not acknowledge that this was their responsibility and asked me to stand outside that residential building in the cold, and wait until a resident comes in, or try to ring a bunch of doorbells to see if someone lets me in and that I should look for my package myself. By the way, the delivery was also from UPS as I was being able to track the location of my package in their system, so it was their responsibility. So they sent me on a mission, on a package hunt... I'm standing outside the residential building when I see someone from that building and I tell her my situation. She lets me in, and indeed my package is there. On my way out from the building I see a man trying also to get into the building, it turns out to be the UPS store manager, and I tell him "Oh, you are from the UPS store, I already have my package", then he unapologetically demands me to go back to the store because he needs to check the package and that I need to provide my signature and an ID, which is ridiculous, I was the one who recovered the package! He is super rude and bullies me into going back to the store, even though I already did his job on recovering my lost package by myself. I went back to the store because this guy was harassing me on the street. This is happening outside of the residential building where I had recovered my package. At the store, he is super rude, and never acknowledge that they had the responsibility to recover my package, or even that I was doing them a favor in coming back to the store so they could finish their job. If it wasn't their responsibility to recover the package in the first place, once I recovered my package by my own because it was misplaced by the UPS delivery, why are they chasing me and bullying me into going back to the UPS store so they can scan the package and mark it in the system? It makes no sense. Overall, I'm upset about the way I was treated, and the people working at this store should not be representatives of UPS which is a globally recognized company. Again, if you want to be treated as a decent human being and receive the attention you deserve, I recommend avoiding this location by all means. read more

This franchise store should not be confused with a UPS store. The person at the shop (possibly the owner) is surly and very unhelpful. When we confirmed a delivery date for a mother's day gift, he confirmed the timing, and when the package wasn't received in time, he simply stated it wasn't his fault and that the deliveries are not guaranteed. If this is the case, he should have made this point BEFORE I sent the package and ruined my mother's special day. Of course, he was happy to go with USPS, because of the huge surcharge made. When trying to call, he leaves one on hold for over 10 minute and when you hang up and call back, he does the same. Never again. I got the paper on Tuesday. Very difficult to read. Nothing was checked. It took me a while to realize they meant the package will go to Madison 96th after 1pm. I came to the store on Wednesday 1pm. Young woman nice. She told me it is between 2and 3pm. I had to pick up my child downtown and come back to the store uptown to be received by a very unpleasant man. We do not have the same definition of what customer service is. The website is not working properly. Do not say it is and find a way to tell me when my package -already very late is supposed to get there-. Very rude. Following day Thursday no news. Just your package is delayed... We are 3 days later. Friday... I am by the store supposed to open at 8.30am and it is not open... already 15min late. People need to go to work you know. You close at 8pm, pretty early too... I am looking for the teacher's gift and the school ended yesterday. 3 days later, really? I am not even sure when I will be able to get my box. NEVER AGAIN. The kind employees behind the desk helped me to sort out exactly when it would be delivered and the delivery man even brought the 35 pound box up to the fifth floor for me when I asked for help. All things are not as they should be with this location. I'll detail my interaction there on 12/20. I wanted to ship two items. one that weighed less than 2 ounces and another item that weighed less than 1 pound. I told both the store runner and the young woman with brightly colored hair and a lovely triple chin that I wanted to ship usps, a service that they told me they offered and also would be able to provide at a sufficient cost. This woman told me that when I first walked into their stores I asked for a particular service and that is what she gave me this time around. I flat out asked her why did she not ask me for what I wanted instead of assuming. She talked over me while I was getting the packages together and then proceeded to ring up two items with two different weights for 9+ dollars. What the hell bull crap is that? Sadly these ups establishments think that they are offering a service that is out of this world and at first it seems this way but that it not true. They're charging you an egregious amount of money for the same shit that cost about less than 5 dollars at usps location. When I let her know that I just paid less than 3 dollars for the same exact package size, she tells me there is no way. Horrible. The woman thought talking over me, was cute and had the audacity to laugh during this poor exchange. I gladly left out of that establishment. I think people think because they are "supplying" a service; the quality does not matter. I truly do not care for providing my money for horrible establishments like that. UPS store manage do not write me to reply about the terrible service provided by your nasty representative. I don't care and while you don't need my business. This store is a rip off! I walked in today to ship a paperback book. The clerk told me that I needed to put the book in a padded envelope. I told her that I did not need a padded envelope because it is just a book. I was not worried about the book getting damaged. She said anything that ships UPS needs to be in a padded envelope. She said the reason is because the envelope can rip open and the contents of the package would be lost. Seriously! What are the UPS carriers doing to the envelopes that they could rip open and the contents could get lost?? I had to pay three dollars for a padded envelope. UPS, If you're making customers use padded envelopes, when they are not necessary, you should supply them for free! read more

This location is a dual UPS and USPS shipping center, so I went in to mail out a USPS priority flat rate envelope, which is normally $6.45 when done at an actual USPS location. When he rang me up at the register it came to over $14. When I asked him why it was twice the price that USPS charges he said that he charges more for tracking services "because people complain about losing their packages." Funny...because USPS automatically creates a tracking number when you ship with them. read more

They sell us postage stamps. They charge 80 cents per stamp. I was surprised. I asked; Is that how much stamps cost everywhere now. "Yes" they said. I bought three packs(60 stamps). Got home, checked and learned stamps are 55 cents. If they cancharge way more than the post office, so be it but they lie about it. Not ok. read more

I said I didn't have it and as a shipping center wouldn't he be able to. Look it for me . He rudely said " you are not my customer ". He told me to leave the store , again I was not his customer and that he would call the police if I did not leave immediately.. I asked for the name of the store owner and he refused to give it to me and again repeated to get out . He did call the police and he told the police themthat I was drunk and that I wouldn't leave his store all because he was unwilling to help me and find the ZIP Code that I needed to ship my package .I am a UPS stock holder, I don't drink alcohol or take ANYTHING and I'm appalled that this business is being managed by someone so disinterested in customer service. I was running late from work to get to this store before it closed at 7pm. I arrived at 7:04pm. The staff were more than willing to accommodate me even though they were technically closed. Please go elsewhere. I've just had my second bad experience in under a month at this location. On the first occasion, they charged me $2.45 to print a label, which is excessive. I print labels regularly at other UPS locations and it's always been either free or a few cents. I paid, as I was in a rush, but I was not happy with the service. On the second occasion, I intended to return an item to a vendor offering free shipping and free returns. I arrived with my package ready (in the box, and with the label, provided from the vendor). I was told it was a priority box and I couldn't use it for ground shipping. I was given the option of purchasing a ~$5 envelope or having them pack it in a regular box for ~$10 (more inflated pricing. While I understand these are the guidelines, I attempted to explain the situation and the employee was extremely rude in his response - placing my package to the side and summoning the next customer. I walked 10 minutes to the next UPS location and my package was accepted AS IS, with no re-packaging or fees. To be clear, it's not about the cost, but the experience - this location will nickel and dime you and the employees don't understand basic customer service. Though this location is closest to my home, I'll be walking out of my way to the next location moving forward, as I don't intend to patron this location again. read more

One star is generous. Approximately one month ago, I tried to send a print job to them in the evening and their website was unable to process credit cards (I think XML error or something like that). So I ended up sending to FedEx on 89th and Lex (great service there). I stopped in to let them know, as I thought that as a local business I wanted to support other local businesses and let them know they were losing sales because of their website. Well the manager could care less. Wow, but OK. So, fast forward a month. Same problem. Sent them an email as an FYI. No response. So at lunch, I thought I would stop by and try in person. Again, local business supporting local business. The manager, a miserable young man, dismissed me and asked me 'did you try from our computer?'. So I went over to their computer, but they needed to credit card and wanted to charge me $3/minute. Wait. Plus I would never use a 'public computer' to enter my credit card numbers etc. I suspect they sell the data to Russian trolls. But anyway, I told them that I had my iPad and iPhone and could do the same from those devices and it was not working. Again, the young 'manager' was dismissive. I have used them in the past for certified mail and mail tracking and yes, they are 4x the postal office cost, but they are on the same block and I do want to support local business. No more. I suspect that they will close before year end. I asked to speak with the manager, and the young twit responded that he was the manger. I know there is an older guy that works there that is a nice guy--but this younger manager is terrible. Look at the other comments here (except for his 4-star buddy poster--that write up was hilarious). For other locals, I would encourage you to check out Fed Ex on 89th and Lex. I send them a big print and bind job in the evening, and they call me around 8:30 am to let me know it is ready for pickup. They must have elves (that have been trained in customer service) that work overnight. Anyway, this UPS store is a waste and is a blemish to the entire block. Really. read more

I cannot recommend enough this particular store to anyone that lives nearby and even if you were far from this location. Trust me: it is worth the trip.The staff is incredibly friendly, fast and very efficient. I've seen them handling various operations with professionalism and the outmost courtesy, day after day. My wife has had some material put together there recently for her doctorate thesis. She was sleep deprived and worked tirelessly to meet strict deadlines. The team took the anxiety and stress out of the equation and they were able to deliver everything and more very smoothly and in no time. Which contributed in bringing up my wife's confidence. The material looked impeccable! I had an opportunity to chat with the store owner and I am pleased to inform you that the leader of this spectacular team, is a gentleman that lays rock solid foundations in his mentorship. Thanks to him, customer service is second to none. And it shows!!! Out of the short conversation we had, I've heard more wisdom, maturity and common-sense than most of the highly trained business people I've known. Yet, he carries himself with humbleness and simplicity. He does not feel the need to get loud to be heard. His assertiveness and keen observance of human behavior makes him an excellent judge of character and great asset to his team and to the company. This is a team that I'd like to come to for all of my service needs. But mostly, because of the kindness, integrity, and joyful demeanor that are much needed in this day and time.
