This store is efficient and to the point. They took care of my 2 shipments in about 8 minutes. No, they didn't ask about my family or how the weather was; they just got the job done with a smile I might add. I watched 3 other people come and go just as efficiently to drop off or mail packages during that same time. I'm not expecting a soulmate when I go to mail something, but efficiency, that's great. Terrible customer service. Called up to ask if they had a notary, and was told they did, and asked he would be there until 5? He said he would be. I drove straight down, arriving about 10 min after the conversation only to be told by the surly women behind the counter that he had already left. No apology or explanation. No wonder they get so many bad review. If you are a neighborhood merchant you should be focused on serving your customer base. Will not frequent this store again. read more

This store has always needed better management. I have had service from some employees in the past who were knowledgeable, experienced and motivated to provide good service. Other employees have been poorly trained and seemed overwhelmed. The mailing department is competent, for the most part. However, the employees need training on the self-service copiers. For more complex jobs, I advise using the UPS store on Piedmont Ave or the FedEX at City Center (although, again, the service there is hit or miss). read more

I have gone to this store for years to have all kinds of documents notarized and send formal correspondences sent to Europe via DHL, etc. as well as return packages that are already postage paid from amazon. This place is okay for strictly UPS related shipping. They claim they can post mail for you as well and this is where the big problem is. The store typically charges customers double the postage that you'd pay at the actual post office. I've experienced this firsthand . For example, I was going to mail a small packet with socks in it from Oakland to Petaluma and they wanted to charge me $5.75. I knew this was too much and sure enough the post office only charged $2.50. The issue is that the store is overcharging and not telling customers the real prices for their postage. It's deceptive and lousy. Don't use this place to mail anything. Go to the actual post office. read more

Employees were fine, but was told by manager that I could have my mail forwarded after I closed my box if I paid for shipping. This never happened and the lady who told me it could be done and wrote down my particulars was "no longer here". I thought I was dealing with a company and not a particular person. If I could give this store a negative mark, I would. But Yelp will not let me do that. I wanted to get handouts printed on colored paper. I called to ask how much it would cost, and was told that a B&W printout would be 12 cents and color printout will be 89 cents. I went to the store and asked the cashier again, and was told that the printout will be 12 cents each. When I got 2 printouts of 22 pages each, I was charged 25 cents per printout!!! I asked why, and was told that the copy will be 12 cents but printout was 25 cents! After repeatedly arguing, they finally gave me a cost of 25 cents on the first batch, and 12 cents on the second one. Then they tacked on $3.25 for the "computer rental" !! Nobody told me that I would be charged that amount. The lady told me that the sign on the computer states $3.25 for a rental. I told her that I wasn't checking my email or doing any work, how am I "renting" a computer?? Very rude staff, horrible experience. Never go to this store. They should have a large sign stating "WE RIP YOU OFF" any way they can. read more

I've never written reviews on here but this time I feel like it's necessary. There are some really unprofessional people working at this facility it's unbelievable. I went in this morning to get my package (it's urgent) and I waited for 20 mins because they didn't know where they put it. I waited for another 10 mins only to have the woman told me "we have no idea where it went" without even apologizing. I couldn't wait any longer so I gave them my phone number so they can call with an update. I didn't have time to go back today so I asked if they can arrange someone to deliver to my place. They said no because none of them drive. Well, figure something out for god's sake. It's your responsibility to properly handle my package!!! I expected a phone call from them but never heard back so i called. they told me they mistakenly gave my package to someone else and that person can only come back the next day to return it!!!! I was furious and even more so when the woman named Heather said "mistake happens, there's nothing we can do about it". I agree with many other customers that this place is a horrible facility. Zero stars. I HATE this place so much. I will never step foot in this store and I hope it goes out of business. Everyone who works here is so rude and I cannot understand their ridiculous prices. So insane. I wanted to ship a box and not sure why I even came back to this place after they charged me a ridiculous amount of money to send a birthday gift previously. I needed to close the blog I was shipping but needed to write the address on the box so the box was open and the rude indian lady was yelling at me "you can't pack your box in here". Biggest rip off ever! They charged me $5.99 for a padded envelope. The mark up on that is criminal. They don't have the UPS boxes available so you need to buy their over priced boxes. Weren't helpful, or even nice. I will drive out of my way to avoid this place even though it is local to me. read more

I sent a package to a customer who has a mailbox at this store. It was a USPS shipment and I don't know whether the damage to the package happened with USPS or at this store. My customer picked up the package, which I had written "fragile" all over and which I had packed well. The UPS Store had put a label on it saying "received in good condition". I have pictures that prove it was in awful condition. My customer took it home and most of the contents were broken. She returned to the shop and they denied any part in the damage and proceeded to put a new label over the old one and this one read "received damaged". This makes them look guilty or, at the very least, like they have very lax receiving procedures. The owner never returned my emails or phone calls, even after I left messages to do so with an employee. I'm a small business owner and would never treat customers this way. read more

Beware. False advertising. I sent a 5 items from this store in early august. They charged me over $350 in shipping fees and packaging. When the items arrived four of the five items were damaged. Despite, telling us repeatedly that they guarantee the items that they package, when I called them to have them honor their "pack and ship" promise they refused. Moreover, when I contacted mail boxes etc. head quarters to complain, they informed me that this location does not honor the pack and ship agreement even though it says they do on their store's web site. The service from the employees and I think the owner was very pleasant. Unfortunately they couldn't manage to deposit a check I needed to send to my bank, USAA. The first time I dropped in they couldn't find the correct login or password. The second time I called ahead and asked if they had the password problem worked out. Whoever answered said yes. I arrived and waited another 15 or 20 minutes while the owner (?) tried to login. Ultimately she blamed the bank for these problems. I called USAA and they confirmed that some franchisees don't keep up with the training or the procedures.??? read more

I use this establishment for one single purpose: to drop off pre-paid packages. The location is close to my home and is adjacent to a small metered parking lot where I am always able to find a parking space. (Convenient when carrying large boxes.) The reason I use this establishment only for dropping off packages is because the customer service is almost comically poor. Every single employee I've interacted with in my 11 years of visiting this UPS store has been unfailingly surly. I don't bother with pleasantries any more. Fortunately I have my routine down pat: Plop pre-paid boxes in a certain corner of the room and hustle back to my car. For that single purpose I'd give them 5 stars (though really it's the parking lot I'm rating). For anything that involves interacting with employees I strongly encourage you to go elsewhere. read more

Worst ever! I shipped through them and paid a lot of money as it was a very important perishable item. It was not delivered overnight as I paid for. I was ok with that but then it was not delivered for 5 days, of course it was ruined. I kept in communication with them to make sure it went out on the second day, no go. Told they missed putting in paperwork, I did everything right and in good faith. They have no intention or even care to try to make good on this and refund at least just the shipping costs, $188! They actually hung up and when I tried to call back they just did not answer their business phone! A big sad joke of a place!!!! I went to the UPS store in Montclair located at 6114 La Salle Ave, Oakland, CA 94611.. I had experienced the most worse customer service there..before I could say a word one of the ladies there named Carman treated me really rude she said what do you need.. she didn't even greet me with a hello. I told her I like to purchase a large box size 36.. to return a chair I purchased and she said without even finding out ..that she does not carry a large box that size and the largest size they carry is size 30.. I said can you check to make sure.. so the other girl who worked their named Seema said she would find out for me to make sure.. she was very nice but Carman was very rude.. and so was another girl named Michelle she was laughing the entire time while Carman was being rude to me.. so I just left the place and on my way out.. I asked a guy across from the UPS store if he knew any places that carried large boxes size 36. and the owner of the UPS store just so happen to walk up to me out of no where and rudely said they don't carry boxes that size he was very close in my face.. I told him could he step back a bit and that he was very rude.. and that I wasn't even asking him anything I was asking the guy from another store.. why would he walk up to me like that..I would never come to this place again! they are extremely rude and unprofessional and do not care anything about customers! I rather go to the post office even if it cost more money before I ever go back to the UPS store in Montclair! Worse customer service in the Bay Area! I would give them zero stars but in order to rate them.. Worst service I have ever encountered, in any business, anywhere. They took my package on a Monday, charged me $105 for expedited delivery to Canada, and promised Wednesday delivery. I use their copying/binding services regularly for my business as an appellate attorney. While my experiences there haven't always been perfect, I am sad to see them get such poor reviews here. They are enormously helpful to my little law practice - I can bring my briefs to them on the same day they are due and know that they will do whatever it takes to get them done quickly and correctly and ready for me to take them to the post office to file them. I don't ship from their shipping department because it's completely overpriced compared to USPS, but that's another story. They also allow me to bring my dog in with me while we deal with the briefs and even sometimes give her treats! Honestly, I don't know what I'd do without these folks. They have a frustrating and thankless job and I really appreciate their positivity and hard work! read more

very disorganized. rude. rude beyond belief. overpriced. and dishonest. go elsewhere. I went to have some documents notarized. Then I went across the hall to have them copied. I filled out an envelope to mail the documents and sent them overnight UPS. The woman at the front desk was busy playing with a dog brought in by a customer. She continued to feed the dog biscuits from a drawer. There was another woman ahead of me waiting to be served. She finally got annoyed and said "can we serve the humans now and play with the animals later" The counter staff ignored the woman. Finally, they helped the woman. Then it was my turn. I was given two options for mailing UPS overnight and I took the less expensive of the two options being assured by the woman that "yes, yes, it will be guaranteed to be there by 11 a.m." I had parked in the lot outside their building by the indian restaurant. by the time I got to my car, I realized that I had not been given a receipt. I went back inside, waited another 10 minutes to be waitied on and the same woman said to me that she had given me a receipt already (which she had not). I asked for a copy of the receipt and she said that she could not give me one. Needless to say, my documents NEVER arrived the next day.... I am glad I had the foresight to copy the material. I went elsewhere to have them notarized, again, and then just went to the post office to send overnight. read more
