I really liked this place. It was ideal for me as I was staying right next door at the Virginian Lodge during my wonderful visit to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Both mornings after waking up and before heading out journeying to picturesque Grand Teton National Park, I walked over to the Virginian Restaurant for a full breakfast. Besides being so convenient....the best part about this place is that it had a great rustic cabin look and feel to it. Not just from the outside, but on the inside as well. It certainly brought me back to a period of good old fashioned small town dining. Awesome!!! Both mornings around 7am I came over here to the Virginian and sat down to quiet and pleasant breakfasts. Being so early, the restaurant each time I arrived was pretty empty. Though, my waitresses were extremely nice and attentive and showed me priority service. The staff there were great! I also appreciated how the breakfast menu was simplistic, yet diversified. There were all different combinations of breakfasts to choose from. Some options included....old fashioned biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, steak or pork chop and eggs, huevos rancheros, chiliquillas, all sorts of omelettes, griddled goods, cereal, fruit, pastries, sides and beverages. One morning I had a ham and cheese omelette with potatoes and toast. The following morning I had 3 full sized pancakes. Besides being delicious, portion sizes were huge and helped keep me satisfied for virtually the remainder of each day until dinner time. Still, what won me over about the Virginian Restaurant was that mountain lodge feeling I got when I sat down inside each morning. Beginning my day with breakfast comfort food dining inside a giant sized log cabin genuinely won me over! I highly recommend stopping by here for quaint small town dining. Where to start? I know this is a "locals favorite" so please do t hate me... Arrived at 11:00, the lady at the register didn't even made eye contact for the first 2-3 minutes... Then I get seated to the KILLING, HEAR PIERCING SCREAM of a little boy... I know this is not the restaurant's fault but if you are looking for a quiet place this is not it... Then my waitress (pretty blond lady, don't know the name because they don't wear name tags?!) took my order and at NO TIME she looked at me, she was too busy looking what was happening around. Loved this place! I would describe it as a classic American diner/restaurant with tasty food, huge portions, bad coffee, and booths. There seemed to be a lot of locals at this restaurant, which is a good sign in Jackson because many places cater to tourists. I had the corned beef hash which was delicious and hit the spot! My bacon leaned towards the crisp side - perfect for me, ditto the potatoes; a perfect balance between crispy on top with firm-not-over firm yet not mushy underneath. The food quality is average, but is tasty for food that is frozen brought in by 18 wheeler. They do good in the kitchen with what they got to work with. UPDATE My initial impression of this place was a solid "5 stars" but after CREDIT CARD FRAUD I can no longer voice praise of this place. Checking my credit card info after returning from our trip the waitress added an extra few bucks to the tip line which constitutes fraud. The business should not hire dishonest people and Yolanda should be fired. Completely unacceptable and disappointing. -------- If you are looking for a no-nonsense, down home place this is it. Wanted a place where locals eat. Our hotel staff recommended and he was right on target. At 8:45AM it was packed with what seemed like a lot of folks were waiting. We decided to wait as the hostess said it'd be about 20 minutes. Turns out it was only 10, as people from 5 tables left almost at once. Everyone working there hustles and we quickly as coffee, water & our orders taken. Our meals came a short time later. My egg and bagel were average but hub's 3 pieces of French toast, with powdered sugar looked amazing! Our server asked if instead of regular syrup, he'd like warm blueberry syrup. Answering "yes" she was back in a jiffy with a whole bowl with plenty to lather on all 3 slices, with some left over.
