The only negative thing about the Waffle is a long wait time for a table (they don't take reservations) - but that's just a testament to how dope they are. They are ALWAYS packed. Service is efficient and friendly. They have a huge menu, and the food is delightful, whether you prefer sweet or savoury. They haven't offered bottomless mimosas for a decade, but they have "double size" mimosas, still in their signature mason jars. I'd usually advise arriving early to snag a table, but they open at the ass crack of dawn - 7am!! For those who need a leisurely morning before heading to brunch, the Waffle is worth the wait. read more

I love waffles and this place makes solid ones. Everytime I come here I either leave full or tipsy. Me and my friends had a gathering a few weeks ago and they all have come back on their own after. Some of the things I totally love other than their tres leches waffles, and pancakes are their mimosas and maple whiskey bacon! We shared one order and had to order another one. So addictively delighful! Everyone working here is so nice and helpful in recommending you from their menu. Place can get very loud and crazy when it's busy. As I mentioned earlier in my review their mimosas are great and strong so there's that! The restroom is clean even when it's busy. Parking on site, they validate for 90 minutes; but the parking attendant of the building this place is located at charged us $19 each (4 different cars). There's also street metered parking. read more

We've been to the waffle multiple times and not only is the food delicious, the service is so great. Twice I've had Trevor as my server. He's so attentive and helpful, making suggestions and helping with the menu. He is also very fun and we enjoyed talking with him about any and everything. We were drawn to The Waffle by their famous 16oz Double Wide Mimosas. We were looking for a affordable, weekday morning mimosa. Surprisingly, they are hard to find. The Waffle has a charming throwback coffee house atmosphere. The Waffle serve's classic Americana breakfast and diner comfort food favorites. They serve breakfast and lunch all day and offer a range of vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian options, catering to a variety of dietary restrictions. They don't have physical menus, you use a QR code to see the menu on your phone and a waiter or waitress comes to take your order. The Waffle not only features a full bar but also specializes in malts, floats, coffees, sodas and of course mimosas! The vibe is a balance between urban and modern, the bathrooms are modern amenities with a nostalgic atmosphere. Although, we didn't get to experience the upstairs seating during our visit, the main floor was clean and comfortable. The main purpose of our visit was the Double Wide Mimosa. At $14 each, the mimosas were served in 16-ounce mason jars, and we had the original OJ flavor. They were delicious and just the right size for our celebration. There are two parking options; a parking structure for $2 for 90 minutes or the possibility of finding metered street parking, if you're lucky. The restaurant has a casual dress code and family-friendly atmosphere. They also offer outdoor seating, which is dog-friendly, a bonus for dog owners. Even though it was very busy when we arrived, we were seated within 10 mins at the bar area. We saw some big amazing plates coming out, so we were anxious to order. Ended up choosing french toast and a basic breakfast with pancakes, eggs and hashbrowns. Food was good, but not spectacular. I will definitely try some other things on the menu in the future. read more

There are many waffle flavors to choose from. I decided to order a turkey BLT and mini waffles. Both were good and so was the coffee latte that I ordered. I have ordered from The Waffle many Sundays to enjoy my football and they usually are perfect! This Sunday my delivery from Uber Eats was a disaster. The usually warm breakfast sandwich was ice cold and with the wrong cold cheddar cheese instead of the usually melty Emmental I ordered! The biscuit was like a rock. No fluff. The sawmill gravy ice cold and the hash browns the same. Somehow the greens got warm by some miracle. Really disappointing since they are my go to but I think I will be going back to Mustard Seed for my football morning football brunch delivery needs. read more

We had a great breakfast and experience on Sunday morning. Located in Hollywood, the area can get quite busy, but it's nice to start the day in a busy part of town. Parking can be a bit tricky because they don't have a parking lot so it'll be metered street parking. It's located on the bottom floor of a high-rise office building and has many outdoor and indoor seating options, however we chose to sit inside at the counter due to weather. Our server Ian was very prompt and did a great job as well. They specialize in waffles obviously, but also have many of the classics. They don't have my favorite breakfast dish: Eggs Benedict, but they still have a lot of great options. We both ordered the Waffle Breakfast, which comes with a side waffle. We chose the blueberry compote and the red velvet waffle and both were fantastic. I was not a fan of their hash browns due to the seasoning on them and how thick they were, but all the other items were great. Overall a great breakfast with fair pricing and fast service. As a fan of waffles it was great to see how many options they have to choose from. I will definitely be back in the near future. read more

I absolutely love this place. The food is good the service is good just a great experience all the way around each time I've been. The first time I went I was able to experience the mimosa flight and buffalo chicken hash browns.! The mimosa flight comes with 4 drinks, but there are 5 to choose from. The second time I went, I got the tuna melt on Texas toast with onion rings. It was absolutely fire. They are a cashless establishment, they take pretty much everything . The chicken was well seasoned and crispy paired with tangy pickled vegetables and a tasty pretzel bun. The combination of flavours packed a punch but we did wish for a thicker slice of chicken. The tater tots were very well seasoned too and the sauces were yummy, something acidic would be a nice addition to cut through the fatty goodness. When we asked for utensils they didn't have any forks so they gave us one spoon and one knife. We made it work. Definitely want to come back to try other things on their menu whenever they rotate it.

Aside from our booth being in use, there were some people at the bar, another 2 booths occupied towards the kitchen side, and one table behind us at the corner in use, so it wasn't about them being busy. I'm hoping this was just a one-time experience because I've genuinely enjoyed my previous visits and would like to come back. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and I hope future visits feel a little more relaxed and allow guests to enjoy their time without feeling rushed to pay and leave.

Sampa is located in the Arts District near the intersection of S Hewitt St and E 5th right next to Urth Cafe. There's a parking lot directly across the street from the restaurant but you can also park around the corner by Arts District Park for $5. If it's your first time visiting Sampa, you have to be open minded towards the concept itself. Yes, the dishes here are smaller in portion and costs more than your typical fast casual spot. All the servers here are attentive and offer to help with what to order if you're unsure. For dinner, the Crispy Pasta is their take on crispy pata but served with spinach tagliatelle. The crab fat fried rice is a no brainer and depending on the night you come, I highly recommend the Sinigang xiaolongbao special. You don't have to be Filipino to appreciate what Sampa is doing for the culture, just come by and see for yourself.

Went to Bestia down the street the week before and everyone greets you and the energy was high, not here. To the food, I'll preface this by saying I'm Filipino so I know the flavors. First course, kare kare tamales ($26). Pretty bland, meat didn't seem like oxtail but was at least well braised. Masa was really mushy and sauce lacked peanut flavor and salt, seemed like just a lot of cream. Second course, Bicol Express Mezzelune pasta. Seemed like the same protein inside as the kare kare tamales and the pasta was really undercooked. $38 for 7 undercooked mezzelune? For that price, could have had a whole meal at Olive Garden for 4 and been more satisfied. Entrees were Crab Fried Rice ($38), Pork Pinakbet ($56) and Crispy Duck Pancit ($48). The Crab Fried Rice was the best of the night with good flavor and lots of crab. The Pinakbet was nothing like pinakbet I've had before. It was a huge pork knuckle drowned in a heavy cream sauce. There were 2 okras in it and no other veg. The Crispy Duck Pancit was overcooked (not crispy) duck breast over some kind of noodles that were like mediocre Chinese take out with a little vinegar to make it Filipino. Toward the end the waitress then asked if we wanted dessert (of which there was only one option) even way before we were done with the entrees. When we declined, she dropped the check even though we were still eating. I had such high hopes for this restaurant because I think Filipino flavors are prime for higher end dining but we got none of the punchy, bright flavors that are common in Filipino cuisine. I would say the food for the most part didn't even measure up to Waipahu or Daly City Filipino restaurants much less elevated, fine dining. This meal for 2 adults and 2 teenagers was $400. We've had better in Waipahu for $75. Boggles my mind how there are so many good reviews here. Unless you are rich and desperate for anything resembling Filipino food, I would just take a pass here. P.S. the 2 mocktails for $14 each were also underwhelming and a little weird.

When she returned to seat us, I said "you're not putting us at that small table are you?" Her response - "yes...unless you want to sit inside." How was that not a conversation first? A professional would have said "I apologize, where would you prefer to sit? I see you made a reservation, are celebrating an event and we had some unexpected guests for seating options."
