Very late review, 2 months late. I went with my niece and a couple friends one Saturday morning. No reservation so we waited a good amount of time but it wasn't so long that it was unbearable. Very cute waiting area. I didn't expect it to look as... modern? as it did? I'm not sure what I expected it to look like but it was nice inside. Staff was suuuper friendly. Every single one we spoke to. Considering how busy they were (constant flow of traffic/customers)... I appreciate that they can still smile and make you feel welcomed. I ordered the OG French Toast, my niece got the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich on a Croissant. I can't remember what my friends ordered. Portions are very good. We could have easily split a plate (my niece and I) and be okay. Classic American breakfast. Everything was good/satisfying. We all enjoyed our meals. I also got their Brown Butter Iced Coffee-- saw one of the guys that worked there drinking one behind the counter and asked what it was, lol. I can't say it was the best coffee drink I've ever had but it was still pretty good. Not strong though. Just moved to Fresno about 2 weeks ago. Came from Tampa (& Atlanta before that) & waffles are a regular item for me. No Waffle House for hundreds of miles but The Waffle Place (off of Cedar) is nearby. Had Pancakes, scrambled eggs, & bacon. In a word this place would make Waffle House change their operations. The pancakes here are sublime. Thick, light, and not doughy. They come out hot & are consistent. They do NOT have hard or chewy edges. The service is courteous and attentive. My first time here, it was just me & my wife. Second time was close to closing on Father's Day & it was louder but just as charming. Also, somebody here clearly knows how to make & keep unsweetened tea. The eggs and bacon are good but far, far behind the pancakes. To start, the chai tea latte was super watered down and it tasted like I was drinking spiced water. The skillet was good. Steak was tender and the flavor was great, but what disappointed me was the biscuit and gravy and waffle. The biscuit was super dry and the gravy got cold fast. The waffle was nice and crispy but it didn't have that satisfying doughy texture for me. My family and showed up today around 1 pm for a late breakfast. The menu is extensive , and everything sounds so good. I ordered the chorizo burrito with a side of avocado slices. Let's get the negatives out of the way now...... Our server was great at the start. She then disappeared for the remainder of our meal. I was looking for extra napkins, and a refill on my soda , but she was nowhere to be found. About 5 minutes before closing , some guy comes out and starts mopping the dining room while we were still enjoying our meal. Wow! It was like eating breakfast in the bathroom. Look, I know you are in a hurry to go home , but wait until your customers are done eating. The smell of the cleaning solution was awful and ruined our appetite for the remainder of our breakfast. We ended up taking food home as we felt rushed to get out of there. I thought that this was so unprofessional, and ruined an otherwise good dining experience. Nevertheless , I want to come back to try more menu options. I've been here about 3 times since the first time I went because I like that they have such an extensive menu with healthy and tasty options. Their pancakes are really good even though it's a waffle place. Both the regular pancake and protein pancake taste so good to me you don't need syrup because that vanilla taste. Restaurant has had some updates since change of ownership with new counters and booths. It's been busy and wait for a table has been pretty long every time we've gone. Prices are a bit higher than some comparable breakfast places but we had a gift card from Costco. Service in our experiences has not been great, it takes a while for someone to come by with infrequent check ins and we had to ask for refills. I saw another review that said a server put their leg or sat on their booth and that happened to us too. The way they store or handle the ice is kind of questionable also, they had it in a big tub vs a soda machine and some servers would just stick their hands in to grab ice rather than using tongs or a separate cup. Get here early because you will have to wait once it's nearing 10am. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Although they were busy, multiple staff members were checking in on us. Food was served quickly. We all really enjoyed our dishes. The chilaquiles divorciados (divorced) had this incredible blend of red and green chile sauce (you have the option of selecting mild or spicy), and come with your choice of carne asada or chicken. My party of 3 stopped into The Waffle Place for brunch on a Thursday morning. We weren't starving, but wanted something to hold us over for the hour-long ride home. The restaurant has ample parking, a day the interior is very well lit with lots of natural lighting from the huge windows. We ordered the Basil Pesto Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries, a 1/2 Waffle, and some Biscuits & Gravy. The best thing we had was the sandwich. It was flavorful and a good portion. It was enough for two of us to share. We loved the Sweet Potato Fries, as we dipped them in ranch (we had requested on the side). The biscuits were super soft and we liked those. However, the country gravy that topped the biscuits was underwhelming. It was really bland and was lacking the sausage crumbles that are traditionally found in country gravy. I know my motto is "Don't waste," but I silently begged the good Lord for forgiveness because we wasted! =( The waffle was good. Nothing outstanding but it wasn't bad at all. The prices are average for a breakfast place in this day and age. I liked that they offer fresh juices and smoothies, although I did not have room this time to indulge.
