We had a reservation and the hostess was chatting on the phone and ignored us for 15 minutes when we arrived on time for our reservation - If you get a server named Nicole, ask for another server or just leave because the food was below par. After the food was served we never saw her again until I had to flag her down for a beer - we all had been waiting for her to return to order more drinks but she never came to check on our table - so she missed the opportunity to sell us 8 drinks costing the restaurant 8 X $15 per drink = $120 Now to the food - the oysters were small and - much smaller than other area restaurants who take pride in their product . the risotto was crunchy , the clam digger flatbread was disgustedly loaded with som much cheese you could not taste anything else. Shrimp and chicken pasta - average Grilled mint gremolata crusted cod average. We had to flag down the hostess to even get the bill. I mentioned the poor service to the hostess who was apologetic and offered us a comped drink the next time - what next time ? Five for dinner and all of us said it was probably one of the best meals we ever had - anywhere. Ordering Oysters in a month without an "R" is not a great idea but we took a chance. I really like this place. I've been twice now and enjoyed the fresh fish, and the low-key beach-club feel of the restaurant. I was here most recently for my brother's birthday over Labor Day weekend and pretty much everyone enjoyed their meal, with the exception of my mom, who I am fairly certain had the catch of the day. It was just a miss, the fish was overcooked and a bit dry, which regardless of flavor is never good. I had an Asian-inspired salmon entree grilled with a sesame oil and some kind of citrus reduction, alongside greens, zucchini and edamame. It also came with this little delicious fritter. It was just really good, perfectly cooked fish, great flavor, nothing over the top. I had higher hopes. The menu was interesting (for dead of winter outer cape), the reviews good, and the dining room comfortable. We ordered a really nice bottle of malbec and the evening was off to a good start. A bit of advice: If you go to a place with 'oyster' in its name located in Wellfleet, known for some of the best oysters in the world, by all means ORDER OYSTERS. I ordered the oyster special: butter-poached with asparagus and red pepper remoulade (see photo). The oysters were impeccable, but the asparagus way too thin to be meaningful and the remoluade and whisper of frisee didn't make up for it. The dish could be summed up as what we used to call 'nouvelle cuisine' (tiny and precious). Others in my party had beet salad with warm chevre (serviceable, but not outstanding) and oysters on the half shell (can't go wrong). Our entrees were all okay - nothing outrageous. Mine in particular, baked haddock with oyster, spinach, and parmesan stuffing was flavorless, although the portion size was healthy. By far the weakest part of the meal was dessert; limited options and most appeared to come out of a box, from commercial bakers like Sweet Street. We ordered the apple crisp, thinking it was probably made in house. I can honestly say this was worst apple crisp I've ever had. Yum. We go here all the time. As far as local places go, in my humble opinion, this one's got the best breakfasts around (our options out here are limited). I usually always get the veggie omelet, though on my last visit, I got one egg, toast, home fries, and a fruit cup (plus mimosa). It was scrumptious, as always. I typically don't go for lunch or dinner as I have not found that they have solid vegetarian options. I don't remember the last time I did, but whatever it was that I had (clearly not that memorable), it's not on the menu anymore. Their current vegetarian dinner options don't look that enticing either...(veggie burger, salad, or grilled veggie appetizer...anything else?) I mean, I know this is a seafood destination, but I still feel left out. That's fine, if I'm looking for a good vegetarian dinner locally, I can go over to Mac's. I also ordered the mussels which were big & plump and not fishy at all! But the broth was so disappointing! It was too creamy and not what I'd expected in a white wine sauce. I did ask for extra broth prior to ordering and they gave me an extra cup on the side. I like to use the mussel shell to scoop up the broth so the cup of broth on the side was really nice of them to accommodate. I think we may have ordered the wrong items. Last day of a 4 day week end and we stopped by the Wicked Oyster for breakfast. Good choice. After a 5 minute wait, we were seated and asked about coffee almost immediately. We asked for coffee and a couple of Bloody Marys. They were yummy. When the waitress came back I the Huevos Rancheros while my wife had the corned beef hash and eggs. Everything was terrific... the eggs served perfectly over easy as we like them. The corned beef seemed to be home made and tasted kinda like the canned Hormel brand... which to me is a good thing. I mean I really like the Hormel brand, but don't usually buy it because "it ain't the best thing for ya." Why do the best tasting things have to be so 'bad' for the body? So yes, great service, nice decor and excellent food. Think I'll change this from 4 to 5 stars. Can't really think of a negative about this place. The Wicked Oyster is one of the best, most authentic restaurants on the Cape! THE.FOOD.IS.INCREDIBLE. End of story. The menu is extremely diverse with fresh, local flavors and amazing creativity. The cocktails and wine are also fantastic. My husband and I hosted our rehearsal dinner here in September and Ken, Eliza and the whole team made us feel so special. We booked the event in the fall of 2020 when there was so much uncertainty and they were so extremely flexible, accommodating and communicative every step of the way. Every single one of our guests loved their meal. They even went above and beyond and printed custom menus for us with our names on them and gave us extras that I will be using in a scrapbook! I think it's good. Good food, and at lunch and breakfast at least, pretty good value as well. I've never gone for dinner because frankly, the menu just looks too pricey for me. Wicked O is a lovely, rustic old house open most of the year (they just reopened for the season a couple of weeks ago and I always imagine the dining room is going to be really loud at dinner with little soft surface to absorb noise - silly reason not to go but, anywho. Nice BLT on hearty rustic bread can still be had here for under $9 and that includes delicious fries - skin on, crispy, nothing frozen - mmmmmmm! I lean to the fried fish platter, a big light piece of fried fish (I think haddock) those yummy fries and cole slaw nd under $15 - a bit elevated from the run of the mill fish house. And although I usually get takeout at lunch, sitting within the house's rustic atmosphere makes an ordinary lunch a civilized experience! Too soon, they'll be closed at lunch all summer and only open breakfast & dinner. I really like their full breakfasts. We ended up at the Wicked Oyster by default. In April not much is open around Wellfleet, and the place we thought was open turned out not to be. Driving around looking for an alternative, throwing caution to the wind we saw this and went in. Just in the nick of time it turns out - 10 minutes later they flipped the sign to closed. Lunch menu is fairly limited but offered ample choices for me and my wife. I like oysters, but only when cooked. I saw fried oysters on the menu and decided on that. My wife ordered a clam chowder and a Panzanella salad (which I had never heard of before; I learned some Italian today). My oysters were just ok. They tasted fresh,, but were a bit small and there was too much batter and that overwhelmed their delicate flavor. Maybe with the stronger flavor of clams this would have worked. For a side I elected for the black beans instead of fries. They were pretty good, with a bit of smoky flavor, perhaps a little too salty, and topped with chopped scallions. It came with a little salad but it's really a bit of a stretch to call it that. More like a garnish of a few pieces of greens. But nice greens, and dressed with vinaigrette. (To be fair, the menu did not claim that the dish came with a salad.) Why are many restaurants so stingy with sides, especially when it would add next no nothing to the cost? Probably part of the fault lies with diners, many of whom don't seem to care about the sides. The portion was on the small side. In truth, enough to fill me up, but smaller than I am accustomed to for a fried seafood platter. But at $16, reasonably priced. To add to my moderate disappointment, both the oysters and the beans were only slightly above lukewarm. I considered sending them back but they were just slightly warmer than that threshold. My wife loved her clam chowder; among the best she's had. A good blend of seasonings, rich, hot, plenty of clams. She liked the salad but claimed that it was not really a Panzanella salad. It did have the soaked old bread and tomatoes but it also had a lot of greens, which she claimed a Panzanella should not have (and my Wikipedia research corroborated), and also feta cheese, which makes it something different entirely. I had a rum and coke to drink: served in an appropriate glass, amply fizzy, not skimpy on the rum. She had a glass of house wine; no problem there. Service was fine. Dining room was attractive. Nothing else of note; not memorable but neither was it a disappointment. I might consider it again in the off-season when choices are limited. read more

Something was off about this place. The dining room we were in was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, and everyone else's conversations perfectly. A little light music would go a long way. We overheard a waitress say they just opened about three weeks ago so maybe that explains it? We had oysters and crab cakes to start which were good, but our entrees were terrible. My wife had the shrimp and chicken pasta which was bland and watery and looked like it had an inch of pasta water in it. Been here three times but only ate twice...first time in November for lunch, got seated and no one came by for a full five minutes so we left and went to the Bookstore. The two times I went were for breakfast and had great meals both times. Service one time was not great. Waitress walked by our table several times without acknowledging us. If you are busy I understand, but at least acknowledge us..a quick "I'll be with you in a moment' is better than totally being ignored. Bloody Marys are delicious and spicy the way I like them. Menu has some interesting selections and they have specials. I have never eaten dinner here but plan to come back despite the poor service since not all the waitstaff can be bad. Came here for our "fancy" dinner for our weekend away- was a great bend of upscale and casual, so I think you could feel comfortable dressing up or in jeans. The hostess was kind of a mess- we had made reservations, but she seemed confused and was a little curt. She had difficulty figuring out where to seat the group in front of us and then us. Cocktail menu was great and had a ton of options, while the wine menu was a little more basic. Oysters were good. I got the lazy lobster- not so lazy! But cream sauce was light and tasty. Well, I'm really sorry to say this place has gone totally down hill recently. I loved "the Wicked" for many years after they opened in 2004 - it was the best restaurant in Wellfleet. The portions were good and the food was outstanding! I had a few favorites including the calamari which was meaty and tender, the beet salad which had thick slices of fresh beets with toasted hazelnuts and a big chunk of fried goat cheese in a thin crust. Then there was the mouth watering filet mignon so tender you could cut it with a fork, or the delicate pan fried sole - a portion that would fill your plate. I've been there three times this year and disappointed at every visit. The calamari is scrawny, small portioned and mostly breading. The beet salad is horrendous - it is now just little chunks of beets that were obviously long ago pre-cooked, tasteless and covered with some kind of white goo, the few hazelnuts were raw & soggy and the goat cheese was a little pancake of low quality cheese since it didn't have much taste. As for those delicious entrees - I guess they've cut back on their portions because the filet mignon is now a miniscule serving for $32, or you can get two little pieces of sole for $24. Oh, and tonight I had the sashimi for the first time in several years.... $15 for five slices of pretty good tuna, but the rest of it was inedible. The shredded carrot, radish and ginger slices were so pickled and saturated that they were soggy and ruined all the greens beneath them. I guess they've decided to just put their efforts into eggs and breakfasts... What a shame for a restaurant that was once fantastic. read more

We went in for a late dinner and were treated with ki dress, respect, and assurance that if our appetizers came out and we wanted to order more, that we would be able to before the kitchen closed. We got 2 appetizers that were specials -one was the Portuguese oysters and the other was steamed clams. Both were unbelievable! The steamers were the best I've ever had with a delicious broth and banana peppers, which I never would have thought of, but was a great combination. We also had 2 mixed drinks-one was a pink vodka cranberry one and the other was coconut and lime. Both were magic! They were more than just the sum of the ingredients, both had an extra quality about them. We also had a cod entree, which had another unbelievable sauce with potatoes, leeks, and bacon and clams. We finished off with a flourless chocolate torte which was probably the weakest link of the meal, (but still quite good) and some espresso. This place is full of idiots. Walked in at 5pm to a hostess telling us she can try to squeeze us in to an empty restaurant. Ultimately the hostess said she has no availability until 8pm but that we can sit at the bar. Interesting that the entire restaurant is reserved for reservations and no walk ins. Finished eating our meal and there are 27 empty tables at 615pm. Food was excellent. Bartender was good even though he was expected to serve an entire full bar, take takeout orders as well as make drinks for the rest of the restaurant. Management needs improvement. I was very disappointed with The Wicked Oyster. Went there with another couple for my husbands birthday. We booked ahead and asked for a specific table and birthday cake for my husband. When we arrived the hostess remind us that she will bring a birthday cake. When she brought us to our table it was giving away by another person. We sat at another table. We ordered drinks which took a 1/2 to come. When they arrived 1 was the wrong drink and the couple we were with never received her drink. Dinner was good but service terrible. No follow up from our waiter and not even a refill of water. We were giving the bill with no birthday cake. When we left we spoke to the hostess who said they were busy and forgot.
