The environment and energy of the restaurant was wonderful, but we did not end up staying to eat, so I can't give too much other feedback. We drove close to an hour to try this spot out just to get there and realize their menu is significantly reduced. All of the dishes we had planned to try, like the monte cristo, are no longer offered. Also, they did not have many gf options anymore either. This was a huge bummer. This place has completely stolen my heart. The food is incredible fresh, flavorful, and 100% vegan, which makes me so happy I could cry. Every dish feels like it was made with love, and honestly, you can taste it. But what really makes this place special is the staff. They're the sweetest, kindest people. Only issue was this rude lady and her party sat next to us today outside, and were being so mean to the staff saying that one of their servers were mean and the food was undercooked... and when I accidentally looked over real quick she made eye contact with me and goes "normal conversation with normal people." The area, as expected, was busy with limited parking, but we found a space and made our way in with open hearts. The host greeted us and quickly seated us -- a kind gesture in what appeared to be a small but bustling space. The menu, accessible via QR code, was quite limited, leaning more toward drinks than food. Still, we chose a couple of breakfast items and a hibiscus drink. After a bit of a wait, we were finally able to place our order. The drinks arrived with paper straws already inserted, which can be tricky if you're hoping to enjoy the drink with your meal rather than immediately. Small detail, but worth mentioning. When our food arrived, it did so in an unusual way. The cook who brought mine made a remark -- "Don't worry, I didn't forget about you" -- which seemed unnecessary, as I hadn't expressed any concern. Tone can be a delicate thing, and while I try not to take things personally, it did leave us feeling a little uncomfortable. As for the food, the banana blueberry pancakes were dry, even with syrup, which was rationed enough that additional servings cost extra. At \$20, I hoped for a bit more flavor and care in the preparation. While our experience wasn't what we'd hoped, I believe every establishment has room to grow. Country breakfast: Texas toast with a vegan scramble that included tomatoes, house made sausage (vegan), potatoes, and cheese. It was so much food and so good! I'd never made it to either due to my inability to get myself together and out the door in the morning. This time it was meant to be as we were visiting friends in LBC just a few blocks away. I made a reservation so we didn't have to wait for a table. I highly recommend doing this because it's a fairly small but very popular brunch spot. We were seated immediately, but it took a little while for a server to come by. Though they were pretty busy, our server was still really friendly and took the time to answer all our questions. I chose the grilled burrizo and it was awesome! The griddled tortilla was filled with a nicely seasoned tofu scramble, kale, soyrizo, peppers, onions, and potatoes, and it was served with a chipotle aioli, accompanied by a fresh side salad. The flavors and textures complimented each other perfectly to make it so much more than the sum of its parts. My dining companions were also very pleased with their choices. I had a bite of my husband's country breakfast, and it too was delicious. The chive BLT looked amazing and was packed with avocado slices. A vegan brunch spot worth visiting whether you're eating a plant-based diet or not. It's really that good! It's pretty hard to get a last minute table here on the weekends; they are reservation only, but it's possible to still stop by and snag a table if there's a cancellation. I had such luck this past Sunday for a group of 6 of us (4 adults, 2 children) and it worked out pretty well. The place was pretty stroller friendly and the ambiance inside is really nice. Lots of natural light, open air possibilities, and just a cool little farmhouse feel of sorts. I like their vegan french toast, coffees, and also had their Chive BLT which I definitely recommend. Probably our new favorite vegan brunch place! We randomly found this place since we were in the area and we couldn't believe we didn't know about this gorgeous place. We tried the burrito and got tater tots on the side, it came with a side of vegan aioli. Burrito was flavorful and I liked the tater tots too, they were fresh. We also got their stuffed french toast which was just the best thing I have ever had. It was stuffed with chocolate, bananas and strawberries. I couldn't believe that vegan french toast could taste this divine. I would come back just for this french toast, and would also love to try other things on the menu too. Service is nice, people are friendly. The first time we went on a Saturday we were able to get in without a reservation but when we went again on a Sunday few week later they couldn't accommodate us so I would strongly recommend getting a reservation. So I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. I started following them on IG first and just said that if I'm ever in town I'll give it a try. So I finally made it to the LBC for work and rode an Lyft from my hotel to get here. I really thought they had more to offer from previous posts I had seen. The menu was very limited, but I tried the Wild Shroom Burger and OMG!!! It was amaze balls!!!!! Like melt in your mouth amazing!!!! I only ate half the burger and saved the rest for later. Unfortunately the restaurant is my reservation so we couldn't be seated even though there was a booth open, but whatever, they let me take hard kombucha to go so no complaints. My friend and I ended up taking our food down the street to Gallagher's pub which was a mistake for my liver. However. The food was amazing. My French toast had Nutella-style chocolate in it....and the most amazing whipped cream ever. Strawberries and bananas. It was so much needed. The ambiance is really nice, I wish we could have sit inside here but it's on a nice street by a tattoo place and an Irish pub. We found parking on the immediate side street so pretty much right in front. Parking is usually a battle in this area of Long Beach but it was no problem whatsoever. Six years ago, I've had the honor of being the first to review Wild Chive. After my first experience with them at the Long Beach Vegan Festival in 2016, I've followed them to their various locations including Portfolio Coffeehouse, Made by Millworks, and Marina Farmer's Market. I was excited when they opened this brick and mortar a few years ago and we've supported it via take-out during early pandemic. It took us a while to get around to it but we finally got around to dining in at Wild Chive. In all the years we've been eating at Wild Chive, we've practically had almost everything on the menu. The restaurant receives good airflow too since it's a corner building and they have a large garage door that remains open during business hours.
