My first visit was today. I'm new to the area and looking for great places to eat. This is NOT a great place to eat, it's not even a good place to eat. I sampled pollo jalapeño the breading on the chicken was mushy and the sample wasn't tasty. So I ordered a two item combo, kung pow chicken, and black pepper beef. Usually safe items at other places. Also, a cup of hot & sour soup. None of the food was hot, not even the soup. I'd say it was all 'warm'. That immediately called into question the food safety of not being held at proper temperature. The chicken was less then flavorful and the veggies seemed like they were way over cooked and soggy. The beef had an odd seafood flavor, like as if the wok wasn't cleaned between batches. Thankfully I'm not allergic to Seafood. And while the soup wasn't hot it was at least OK. I didn't finish a single item I ordered and since the portions were large I threw a huge amount of food away. Nothing was worth taking home to eat it again. Except the soup may have been, but I was so 'turned off' by the rest of the food I didn't even both to ask for a lid to take it home and it too went into the trash. I won't be returning. read more

The portions are very generous, the taste is great, the place is clean, the staff are friendly, and the prices are decent. My rating is mainly based on my love for their sweet and sour garlic fish. I first tried it many years ago when I lived in Orange County for college and now when I'm in town (maybe twice a year), I continue to stop by just for that item. What the hell is wrong with the employees here. I am a very reasonable person and tend to give people a second chance. However ... I don't think any of those goddamn workers know how to smile. They all have what I call the "Oh my god, it's a customer" face. Worst part is, when you are trying to eat in restaurant you can actually hear loud annoyed half English half Chinese/Vietnamese chattering. They're very rude to the customers also. I always get only chow mein and it's the thick yellow noodle, just how I like my Chinese food which is why I don't go to Panda Express for their thin noodles. I always find myself getting the Jalapeno Chicken. It has a kick! So if you can't handle the heat...don't get it. Orange chicken has always been pretty good too. Not too crunchy or batter-y. Not too seasoned and salty. Fried rice: Yellow-colored, lacked variety/color. Where are your peas and carrots?! Orange chicken: It's not orange, it's red. However, it was pretty tasty and again, not too seasoned. Big pluses: no MSG and less than two minutes away from home :) Chinese food is just alright. All I expect from it is a lot of food for a cheap price, and this place exceeded that. They definitely are better and cheaper than Panda Express and many Chinese restaurants out there. I decided to try the takeout 2 days ago. Went in around dinner time and had about 6 people in front of me. LOCATION: On the S/W corner of Trask Ave/ Beach Blvd. Big location with plenty of seating. Looked fairly clean. Weird setup having seating block beginning of line so customers need to snake around. SERVICE: Fast and efficient. Everyone seemed friendly except that Asian lady everyone yelps about. Doesn't say a word except to tell you the price. And saw her wipe food that spilled out back into the containers (hope surface is clean). PRICE: Competitive with Panda Express. 2 entree is about $7. Extra sides are $2. 2 veggie rolls with sauce only 1.49! FOOD: Plenty of it! They really do give you a lot!!! My wife and I shared the 2 entree and had leftovers. We got the rice and chow mein. Both were good. Also had the BBQ pork and orange chicken. Everything tasted really good! No complaints and no upset stomachs so it's a win!! Overall, great place for take out or dine in. This place is awesome. They load up your To Go box to the max unlike Panda Express. The price is pretty reasonable for the amount of food they give you. I do have a warning though - the food is pretty greasy, but so delicious! So if you don't mind the greasy and unhealthiness and care more about the price, then this is perfect.
