    Breakfast Burrito
    Sarah S.

A great breakfast/lunch/brunch spot with an expansive menu. There were so many different things that looked good on their menu. I went with the breakfast burrito (veggie) which was delicious. I got sweet potato fries instead of chips and salsa. The sweet potato fries were great. Our table also got the veggie patch which was essentially my veggie burrito without the tortilla. It was a nice portion. Also ordered was a jalapeño bacon burger that my husband devoured with curly fries and a regular burger. Angela, our server, was our very festive, helpful and on top of it. She made the visit very pleasant. The back patio was a nice spot in the afternoon. They had some great specials too.

Absolutely loved this place! We ended up coming here twice during our stay in Santa Barbara! Let me start out by saying the service here is so warm and homey if that makes sense! There is one to two waiters and one of them is the sweetest nana I've ever met! Plus she is so quick on her feet it makes me feel like I need to go to the gym!! The food is sooooo good. Your traditional breakfast diner! Everything about it is so cozy! The food comes out quick!

    Chiliquiles! SO GOOD!!!

I knew I was giving 5 stars before we even received our food. Angela made me feel like royalty. She was so sweet, funny, and attentive! I sat in the outside area. It was so peaceful! Coffee stayed topped off and food came out hot. We ordered the Chicken and waffles and chiliquiles. The chicken and waffles were good and crispy BUT the chiliquiles were incredible! The flavor in the steak paired with the salsa verde on the chiliquiles went so well together!

    Ham Benedict Classic

We arrived around 11:00AM on a Sunday and the wait was an hour. There are shops next door that you can browse while waiting. Counter, Indoor and outdoor dining. We were sat on the patio and it was actually cooler than inside. The man who did the seating has a great sense of humor. Our waitress Angela, was welcoming, friendly and she checked on us regularly. We ordered the deep fried strawberries. ham Benedict, and a side of bacon. The Benedict was delicious, especially the ham! Nice hollandaise flavor. The strawberries were a bit tart, but had chocolate chips and whipped cream to sweeten them up. Nice brunch place!

This place should be on a map with a sign that says "You'll be back, Promise". I wish I could have tried more things because our food was so delicious. We had the country fried steak and chilaquiles. The food came out pretty fast and HOT HOT hot. Someone in the kitchen cooks with the love of a full happy heart. The steak was cooked to perfection and the flavor AMAZING. We took the train up and will be back just to eat breakfast here.

    Nice clean place

Typical café. We got waffles, bacon, and eggs, potatoes, toast. Everything was very good. We got takeout and it was interesting that they added gratuity to our bill. Normally that is at our discretion but since they are so nice and friendly there, I did not really care. There is always a long line on the weekend but it's well worth it.

The special of the day: bone in fried chicken served with 2 eggs n biscuit n gravy with a side of pepper bacon.

Any time I'm in So Cal I make it a special trip to stop in Carpinteria at the worker bee cafe. I've been coming here for years with visiting every 2 years or so, but nothing changes and I love every bite. It's a homie vibe and the staff are always friendly and tentative. I recommend the chicken fried steak, hash browns, biscuit with over medium eggs and a side of jalapeno bacon. All I have to say is get ready for a nap after clearing your plate. Haha!

We spent Memorial Day Weekend in Carpinteria and having brunch at The Worker Bee was the perfect way to end the long weekend before the drive back home. The wait list was posted outside the door but we got seated right away by the nicest gentleman who was the owner. He was apologetic for being frazzled which was not necessary at all! Just happy to see the place was busy and almost all tables and the bar area filled with hungry customers. He gave us our menus, explained each side and when I asked what he recommended - he happily shared that they make their own corned beef hash in house and that was all my husband needed to hear!!! He got the hash while I ordered the breakfast burrito and our son had the chicken tenders. The corned beef hash was excellent and the meat was tender!! No wonder he was raving about it! My breakfast burrito was delish and the salsa was perfect! We also ordered a side of the jalapeño bacon and that is highly recommended!! Our server was also very attentive without being so in your face which we appreciated. We hope to find ourselves back in Carpinteria someday soon and we will definitely be back at The Worker Bees!

Still five stars! Food doesn't disappoint. Service doesn't disappoint. Great atmosphere. I love this place. Try the Monte Cristo

    Chicken and waffle

*** I enjoy the sweet older woman serving the breakfast counter and the entire restaurant. She's efficient, polite and happily keeps everyone moving along. My waffle and chicken was below-average at best. Dry overcooked chicken, previously frozen most likely, tough to cut and stringy. The waffle was unremarkable as well. Plus's: location + cleanliness + service Minus: food quality low today, and cost was high ($32.50 for one person) Not impressed Won't return

There is a table right at the window so you can enjoy dining/reading/sitting with an incredible and private VIEW! This time we got the only accommodation that has TWO rooms-- so it felt like a small apartment without a kitchen! It's extra spacious and allowed everyone to have their privacy. The rooms are SUPER cute! Yes, the furniture is old. Yes, it looks like grandma's house. But from someone who has stayed in luxury resorts most of the time, these charming and timeless rooms have a special place in my heart. I'm not even sure if this makes sense, but the ambiance welcomes you with open arms and makes you feel right at home. It truly feels like I came to grandmas house. It feels so familiar and I know for a fact, staying here is healing my inner child each time. We all know the views are absolutely incredible-- I mean... breakfast buffet overlooking the cliffs AND you can watch surfers and dolphins in the distance while you enjoy your food? Can't get better than that. You can go visit the shore during low tide or walk over to the pier that leads to an island! This hotel is tucked away from the city and I absolutely love the seclusion. Although it's right next to the highway, staying here feels like stepping into a peaceful parallel universe-- the world still moves on the other side of the wall, but you're suspended in your own quiet, dreamlike bubble until it's time to return to reality. The service is too notch! She has gone out of her way to accommodate us and never made any request feel like it was too much or an inconvenience. If you thought this place couldn't get any better, it DOES-- they have a Restaurant that serves lunch and dinner!!! Let me stop before I write a novel. This has literally become my favorite hotel.

The outdoor seating was super cute with little steel tables and chairs, plus plenty of umbrellas for anyone sensitive to the sun. I ordered the white mocha decaf with oat milk and a breakfast sandwich -- both were really good! There wasn't too much interaction with the staff, but they kept the line moving and got the food out quickly. My parents are older and get cold easily, so we sat next to the fire pit. It turns off suddenly and we request it to please be turned back on as it's overcast and barely noon, and a waitress who hasn't been near us in 20 minutes says she smelled gas just now and had to turn it off. Translation: cheap management saw the sun coming out and wanted to save money. There was no gas smell. So classless. Even when we mentioned it again and asked, the glazed-eyes looking girl gave a slight remix of her "unfortunately umm due to me umm smelling gas umm we are not able to turn it back onnnnn." Is everyone who works here on meds or something? Coffee was terrible and watered-down, and simple premade sandwiches took 20 minutes to heat in a panini press and bring out. Food was very mediocre and my "poached" egg was basically hard boiled. The food tastes much better when you order online, probably because they actually know you have a set time limit to pick it up so they make it fresh and with effort. They just dgaf if you're seated, I guess. Just go to Lucky Llama guys.

His didn't arrive until about 10-15 minutes later, and they forgot the bagel entirely. The server dropped the food off and disappeared. His potatoes were completely raw, the food was barely warm, and the corned beef hash had zero crisp to it. He took one bite and spit it out. We sat there waiting forever just to tell someone because no server ever checked back. Eventually another employee dropped off the missing bagel and immediately ran off again. My husband finally had to walk inside himself to tell them the food was cold and undercooked. A few minutes later they brought the same plate back out, clearly just microwaved. The eggs were now rubber, the hash was still awful, and the potatoes were still terrible. He went back inside a second time and told them to forget it and just charge us for the bagel, coffee, and my breakfast. Even getting the check took another 20 minutes. What's most frustrating is that nobody seemed to care. No apology, no urgency, no effort to fix anything properly. My breakfast was mediocre at best. The eggs and bacon were fine, but the French toast was cold and looked like plain toast, and they covered the potatoes in cheese without mentioning it. After reading other recent reviews, it's clear this wasn't just a one-off bad day. The common theme seems to be cold food, long waits, inattentive service, and management/staff who simply don't care. This place is overpriced, overrated, and unfortunately living off its past reputation. Maybe just stick with bagels.
