Great local spot! This is a no frills cafe with an incredibly friendly staff. It's hard to find down to earth places like this!

A super friendly local coffee shop. They've got tasty chorizo breakfast burritos and an excellent spicy chicken wrap. The coffee is ok, but service is excellent. Generally dog and kid friendly. I often go here on the weekends to read, as it's right across from the public library. They close a little on the early side, so make sure you go before mid afternoon. read more

This is a review of their breakfast burrito. I saw their burrito listed in the 11 best breakfast burrito of SF list from Thrillist, so I stopped in for one. Really, Thrillist? You think microwaved eggs make a "best breakfast burrito"? Ugh. The overall burrito wasn't disgusting, but it was barely edible. I was hungry so I ate half of it. But I had to slather it in tapatio hot sauce to give it some flavor, since it was 80% micro eggs, with a little bacon, cheese, and plain tomatoes included. I used to like Thinkers. Then, I dunno...change of ownership, maybe? The staff is no longer cute, the music sucks, and the food is awful. The coffee is still okay, and at least they have free wifi...I'll give them that. But otherwise? Go to Farley's just 2 blocks away for a much better experience. read more

Was pleasantly surprised by the delicious sandwich I picked up for lunch from Thinkers Cafe today. I believe I ordered the roasted turkey (or smoked?). Really solid and yummy. The people who work here are always friendly which makes spending money on lunch out an enjoyable experience. Pop over to the library across the street for one of the best views in SF! Minus one star for the mediocre latte which I ordered in addition to the sandwich. read more

Love this place! Great smoothies and bagel sandwiches. My only complaint is the place isn't immaculate. I find myself trying to stare out of the windows while I eat so I don't have to think about the dirty seats, windowsills, tables and floors. Again, the food out weighs the cons, but the dirt is worth mentioning. read more

i used to love this place .... the food is good but EVERY time i go there now they mess the order up or take 10 mins for the most simplest of tasks..... The staff seem quite "distracted" when they take the order. and i try and let them know what i want but seriously even with a breakfast wrap craving which compells me to go there its a no no for ever more... PLEASE someone figure out how to do things more efficiently and make more than one order at once its PAINFUL! to watch !!! ...if you want tips go down the hill to chatz... they are GREAT... you will be in an out in 2 mins they will always remember you get the order right be super nice and never distracted read more

There are lots of things to like (free wireless, pleasant atmosphere, beautiful PH residents to ogle) but the bottom line is I think their coffee is gross. Their regular coffee is reminiscent of McDonalds - some people like that but not me. Their espresso drinks are better but still seem "thin" to me, not rich in coffee flavor. I do agree with the other reviewers that at least the baristas know how to make the drinks (at Martha's cappuccino = latte = macchiato). The food is good, better than the standard fare for a cafe - I really like the lox & egg bagel. However, as much as I hate to admit it, when I want coffee in PH, I go to *$s. read more

I use to like this place. -- has a great memories of morning coffee.... however, do not come here for lunch.... people do not wear hair nets, no clothes. dogs are inside the shop and no it's not therapy dog....also it does not take 3 people to make a pot of coffee.... and the owner stood there and watched it all happen...... well you lost a $25 lunch until you can provide better customer service and keep the dreadlocks out of the food read more

Thinkers is a cozy, sunny little cafe at the top of the hill...They have a good lunch menu (hummus plate in particular) and their homemade soups are very yummsters. I typically get my food to-go from Thinkers, but I like being inspired by the thoughtful quotes on the walls while I wait for my meal. I wouldn't necessarily trek across the city for this place, but for a local join it's great! read more

My Mom loves this place, but I am not that into it. I love the chai latte and the baked goods (croissants, chocolate, almond, whatever--it's all delicious) here. The people who come in here and work here are great. I've found the lattes, however, to consistently taste burnt, yet watery. The coffee is not bad, though! read more

they have this sandwich with salami, artichoke hearts, cheese and spicy mustard on a baguette that makes me extremely happy. it is seriously so good. i got an iced coffee once and was less than satisfied. in fact, i threw it away after a few sips. maybe it was because it was the end of the day? i don't know but it wasn't good. their lattes on the other hand have been tasty. though i think they have some issues ringing people up which causes customers to be overcharged. it happened to me once. i didn't speak up. i wasn't in the mood to squabble over $0.25. just meant i wasn't going to toss my change in the tip jar as i normally would. but that sando is really freakin' good. read more

3.5 here. This is my neighborhood coffee spot. They make a great latte that actually has a nice topping of foam. I so love foam on my latte. Really tasty salads and sandwiches. Awesome fresh ingredients. It is a pretty small cafe with very limited seating (both indoors and out) so you may want to do take out. And not always the fastest service. I want to like this place (as it is super close to my house) and have given it lots of tries. The coffee is ok. I ordered an oatmeal topped with fruit (which was really expensive, $4). There were 3 blueberries floating around the cup of oatmeal. I asked for more fruit and was said I would be charged extra for that. Seems like they really cut corners here. read more

I come to this place to study usually. I pick a table and wait for my bagel toasted with cream cheese and tomatoes. I get to eat, study, and people watch as my study break. I love the home-y, friendly vibe where it really seems like everyone knows eachother. Coming here makes me feel like i live in a neighboorhood where everyone knows eachother and people are just happy in general to be in such a great city. The coffee here is above average, and the food is generally pretty good. But the place is always a mess when I go there. There are frequently coffee spills and napkins on the floor and flies buzzing all over the place. The staff seems disinterested and the service is consistently slow. Gotta love Thinkers! They make a delicious breakfast burrito, and their staff is always friendly! I have to comment though on their drinks, not a huge fan- they need to work on that! (Mind you, mine could have just not been made very well. Other ppl don't seem to mind) I love the space, the quotes on the wall and the friendliness of their employees!
