Had the pleasure of walking by Three Girls multiple times during a recent visit to Seattle and Pike Place Market. The smell alone is intoxicating and kept me coming back. And the service is super friendly - I'm a fan! I got to try three things: the chocolate croissant, mixed berry buttermilk scone, and...one that I can't remember the name for the life of me, but it was the best berry muffin I've had (it wasn't one of the cream cheese ones). It was so moist, so soft, so airy, and so good. Northwest berry? I'm not sure, and it's bugging me! The chocolate croissant was also really good and kept well on my flight back home. The family enjoyed that one very much. Very flakey. The mixed better buttermilk scone was decent. Least favorite of the three, but it still tasted good. A tad dry for my taste, but I'm glad I got to try it! Definitely worth a stop - I'll be coming back whenever I'm back in Seattle! read more

THE BEST pastries and bread I've had in Seattle. I highly recommend going there for treats at the market: lemon bars, pecan bars, sour dough bread, muffins, etc. But I have to push back on how 19% is the lowest tip option. Yes, I know I can select custom, but it's not the point. I ordered several items and the entire effort was the young individual reaching for muffins: 19% came to a $3.25 tip for him basically mumbling after I greeted him, no eye contact, no thank you, etc. And it's happened with other persons who work there (the younger ones). And sure, maybe a portion of the tips go to the bakers, that's fine. But I'm already paying more for shopping at Pike Place and buying bread from you. I really hope the business thrives, I do. But I don't *have* to shop there. I hope management either helps their younger employees understand that tipping isn't an entitlement and that being personable goes A LONG way or changes the lowest tip option to 10% which is reasonable for begrudgingly putting a muffin into a bag. read more

I visit Pike Place Market a lot because out of town family always want to go when they visit. So it's not that special to me, but family or not, if I'm in the area I always get in line to buy three raspberry bars. The streusel top is so crunchy and the jam has the right sweetness. Got the lox on sourdough. They usually serve it on a bagel, but because they were out of bagels had to get it on sourdough. It was very good and had a generous amount of lox. This is definitely a great place to come for sandwiches and it's not super crowded in the bar area so seating is always available read more

Pike Place Market in Seattle has a plethora of options when it comes to food. It can get very confusing. So every trip to Pike's, I look to try something new. One of my recent finds was Three Girls Bakery. This little bakery makes a multitude of delicious looking baked goods. I chose a couple of items to share with my lovely bride. Pecan Pie Bar tasted wonderful, and I would definitely purchase it again. Peanut Butter Cookie was delicious too. Wish I had a metabolism that allowed me to eat one of everything they sell. Lined up one Saturday morning to get some sourdough bread and dessert. Service went smoothly. The people working behind the counter did an awesome job. They were quick and very friendly. I got a sourdough baguette and some peanut butter cookies. The sourdough had a great flavor. It was a little too crusty and hard for me but the family liked it. I loved the peanut butter cookies. In 3 days, I had eaten 5 meals at different places at Pike place market and I would say this cafe gave me the best impression for service, volume and taste. I had tuna melt and salmon chowder from bar counter. (You have to get inside of glass doors) They cook your food in front of you. No guard. I was wondering how they make tuna melt. First the cook took a portion of tuna and make a pate like a soap. They separates three different part of tuna melt and cook in different of pressed machine. At last, after they added cheese, press it down all. But still huge. Salmon chowder was delicious too. It's close to potato soup and you can see chuck of them. Dill and corns are also blended. I love this place down at Pike Place Market. They have the best bread and treats around. Also, they have a small luncheonette that is great if you can stay a bit. "Three Girls Bakery was the first business licensed to women in the city of Seattle! Founded in 1912, Three Girls Bakery is the oldest continuously operating business in the Historic Pike Place Market. Our Current Owner Jacob Levy has worked in the Pike Place Market for over 50 years! He started working at his father's produce stand in 1966 and is still very much in love with the Market to this day. The Levy Family has been a part of the Pike Place Market Community since the 1940's. Jacob and his sister Zelda bought Three Girls Bakery in 1979 and it has been faithfully run by the Levy Family ever since!" When I think about bakeries in Pike Place Market, I can think of five. Three Girls is my second favorite. I *LOVE* their bread. There's an earthiness about them. A big, pudgy loaf looks like it might have come out of an earthenware, woodfired oven. (I'm sure it's not, but it looks like it is!) They sell a big variety from multigrain to country whites. I love the ones with seeds on top. The smell is wonderful, and I love walking away, hugging a loaf. I'm rarely there early enough to admire amongst a full selection, so each time, it's a draw of the luck to see what's left. Before COVID-19, I spoke with an older gentleman at the shop, possibly Jacob Levy himself. When I told him I'm a local and love buying his bread, he told me I can call day-of and ask them to hold a loaf for me. He says, "Otherwise, all the cruise passengers buy them all." I thought it was super sweet of him to offer, but I never did. I much rather they just sell whatever they can, and I buy from what is available. About their pastries and cookies, I have had better luck with cookies like shortbreads and thumbprints. I'm not keen on their pastries though I have tried a few. The year the Titanic sank, a bakery opened in Pike Place Market's No 1 stall. It's still around today. Follow the line across the street from the Pike Place Market sign and you're at Three Girls Bakery. Don't worry- the line goes quickly. As you wait, look through the glass stall windows to see what you want- chocolate croissants, scones, muffins, cookies. They have all you want! This bakery I stop by regularly when I visit Seattle! Simple, cute, with an array of things in the windows, with the friendliest and cutest staff. They will always help you and will never make you feel rushed. I always get some kind of their bread. This time it was focaccia - excellent! I tried cranberry walnut before and it was so fresh and tasted like it was just made at home. I also tried their baked salmon sandwich - I took it on the hike the next day with me and it was a bomb ! It held well and wasn't soggy. I always get their earl gray and lavender short bread cookie - yum, super fresh and tasty. Distinct but not overwhelm flavors. We walked by the bakery and after seeing the reviews stopped by. It was just okay. We got the cherry turnover and the lemon bar the turnover was all filó and sugar with very little cherry filling. The workers were not very friendly. Pass this place and go somewhere else. read more

Three Girls Bakery was part of our food tour and wow, this is the oldest operating business in Pike Place AND they are a women owned bakery. While I did not get a chance to look at everything they had, we were able to sample their raspberry bar and it was so good! The crust was flaky but still buttery and the jam plus the topping was amazing. It had a chewy yet delicate texture from the crust. Amazing! I started at the counter, ordering a Croissant Breakfast Sandwich. The components were simple, but this sandwich was greater than the sum of its parts. Gooey over medium egg and cheddar cheese were melted into the flakey, buttery croissant. I highly recommend this sandwich. I moved along to the bakery window, where there was only a short line at 9am on a Monday. I loved the Strawberry Cheesecake Muffin, an ultra moist cake with a delicate crumb and fresh strawberry. There were many Sephardic items available like rugelach; I tried the Potato & Cheese Boreka, and found it to be simple and satisfying. I've seen the long line here several times suggesting it's a good spot so my wife and I decided to make a morning trip down to the Market for fresh flowers and pastries at Three Girls. While the line is lengthy it does move fairly quickly. There is an area to sit down (although the folks working behind that counter were unfortunately maskless) or you can take out from the ordering windows. We learned when ordering that the pastries aren't made on-site and are delivered at some point in the morning meaning if you want a specific pastry and they're out (chocolate croissants in our case), you're out of luck for the day no matter how early it is. This also means the pastries sit in the elements near open windows (without a heat lamp or anything) for the morning. We ended up getting croissants and danishes which were very cold so we took them back home to microwave to bring back some life into them. Because of this, the experience was really no different than getting something at the grocery. If the pastries were fresh and made on-site I'm sure they'd have been worth coming back to. There are other bakeries in the Market that have proven better for us in the past. read more

On Thursday, 13October2022, at about 11am, purchased one chocolate croissant; one plain croissant; and one boule sourdough french bread. Both croissants were NOT fresh; the texture was rubbery and not crunchy outside. Moreover, the chocolate croissant had rock hard chocolates inside that were NOT melted; it appeared as if the chocolates were dropped into the croissant after baking. The boule sourdough french bread tasted like day old bread; no crunch on the inside and rubbery on the inside. The advertisement outside said the breads were "baked daily." And that this place was founded in 1912. Indeed, after tasting the croissants and bread, they tasted as if it were baked in 1912. The $16 we spent on the croissants and bread was a DISAPPOINTMENT. Although the "girls" are long gone, this is now a family-run business, and the Levy family sure makes some tasty treats. The earl gray shortbread was made with tea from the Market Spice, another Pike Place Market vendor. Probably my fave out of the three items I bought. The cinnamon palmier was huge, buttery, and crispy. And when in doubt, always go for the $4 French bread instead of the $3 mini loaf. You get much more bread for your money, and trust me you'll want more once you taste it. They are also famous for their rugelachs, so come support a family-owned, historic business! read more

A nice little bakery in Pike Place Market with a huge selection of pastries. The workers are all sweet and friendly, and it seems they work really hard to provide everyone with the variety of pastries. We just wanted something small to nibble on and to try this place. We ordered the mixed berry scone and were somewhat disappointed. Overall, the scone was good - buttery, soft, crumbly, and a good size. But when you see the scone from the display case and see all the berries piled on the outside of it, you think they will go deep or be spread throughout the scone - unfortunately the inside of the scone has almost no berries. The berries on the outside can only last or go so long before you're eating just a regular scone. read more

This place has a wealth of gluten free goodness, the likes of which I always have an eye out for. In fact, when I realized they make Gluten free sandwiches, I got one to go, they're such a rarity in my life. I was thrilled to pay under ten bucks for a very good tuna fish sandwich with lettuce tomato and (my request) onion (cuz having tuna fish without onion is like having sex without an -- oh well, you know). Anyhow, it was an excellent sandwich. Even hours later and after some jostling. You wouldn't have gone wrong if you'd said, "I'll have what she's having." They have gluten free baked goods like cookies and things too, which I didn't sample as I enjoy the clothes I own and don't want to buy bigger ones. I highly recommend this establishment. Oh and to top it off, they had excellent tunes playing and seem to be a family business. Way worth the visit. For the celiacs out there, they seem to understand cross-contamination issues, so don't be afraid to ask if they can accommodate you, they may just speak your language. Additionally, there's tomato based Cioppino across from this place for under ten bucks that I was told is gluten free. I had a steaming hot cup right there and it hit the spot. To be fair, I asked the guys at the Cioppino stand about the chowder they were also selling and they said that had flour (thus, gluten) in it. They had several other dishes. One was grilled Salmon for a few dollars more than $10 that they said was gluten free. Overall, this was my luckiest spot in Pike Place Market for finding gluten-free eats during the day; at least for the very limited time I spent there. Considering that, I definitely felt I struck gold and had no need to visit any kind of chowder house. That definitely felt like a win since it was ridiculously crowded everywhere. read more
