We found Fish Cake Factory in passing one day. A guy on the street told us it was awesome and when I saw the Groupon, I thought I might try it. On our anniversary, we went to our favorite restaurant only to find out that they close early on Wednesday's! Who does that? Anyway, I remembered the Groupon, purchased it, called for a reservation and hopped on the link rail into downtown Seattle. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation but that didn't matter, the restaurant was about half full and the servers didn't seem to care that we had a reservation. The set up is a little awkward. A dedicated host stand would help with the flow of traffic into the restaurant and help the servers not be so flustered. On to the food.... With a $25 voucher, I thought we might have to share an entrée or kick out more cash in the end. However, there were plenty of options that fit into the budget. We ended up ordering the following: Fried Spring Rolls Stuffed with bean threads and finely shredded carrots with minced shrimp and pork. Served with sweet plum sauce $6.95 Phad Thai Favorite Your choice of chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, or tofu. Stir-fried thin rice noodle mixed with tamarind sauce, fold in egg, bean sprouts and ground peanuts $8.95 (add $2 for prawns) Pad See Iew Stir-fried wide rice noodle with eggs, broccoli and soy sauce. Choice of chicken, pork, beef or tofu $8.95 Now, full disclosure here -- I am not a Thai food fan. I don't typically eat spicy food. I'm from the east coast -- spring rolls just aren't my thing. They are usually to skimpy /small for my tastes. I'm more of an egg roll girl. I love soul food, Indian, Korean, and American Chinese but Thai is not something I crave. Thus, I was pleasantly surprised when 4 decent sized spring rolls appeared as our appetizer. The plum sauce was heavenly and if we hadn't already ordered, we probably would have gotten a few more orders of these divine eats and called it a night. As you can imagine, I didn't know what I was getting with the Pad See Lew. I thought "wide" just meant thicker noodles. No, they mean Wide. I got spice level of 3/5. The server seemed to think that it would be too hot. But I hate going into restaurants and asking for a 2, only for it to be no spice at all. So 3 it was. It was sufficiently spicy and DELICIOUS! The chicken, broccoli, and noodles were sooooo good. Have an extra cup of water or milk nearby if you don't think you can handle it. (The servers were attentive with water in the beginning; but as the restaurant got busier, my water glass sat empty.) The Phad Thai was really good. The few bites I had definitely helped sooth my burning tongue. But it was a level 2/5 and it was too sweet for me. So I think for my personal preferences -- sweet dishes are a 3 spice but savory dishes - a 2 spice. All in all, the food was impeccable. No complaints at all. We will be back on a regular basis as it is near my job and we can both eat for around $25. Plus, I gotta taste the fish cakes and get another order of spring rolls! read more

We arrived here around 8:45 on a Friday night and unfortunately they had only one server so it took some time. The waiter was apologetic but 10/15 minutes to wipe down the table was disappointing. They should really have at least 2 waiters working on a Friday night. read more

Got the taro fritter and tom kha soup. The soup was bland and terrible, got it spicy but still came out no taste. Fritter was ok. The soup was so bad so I could make myself finish it so I decided to order a pad Thai as well since it's hard to mess that up. At 9:01pm I was told that sorry the kitchen was closed already since it closes at 9pm. Then I was promptly offer a check without asking for it. Friendly staff but bad service. We opted for the outdoor seating at Ti22 in the spring. We had appetizers, dinner, and drinks, which were all very well done. The service was also top notch. Our server checked on us often and was able to answer all of our questions in detail. We will be back! :) read more

Finally tried the Fish Cake Factory, which is on the street level of my apartment building. Since my wife and I are not big fish cake fans we walked in one day to looked at their menu (why don't you have the full menu on your website?) and were happy to see it was Thai with a variety of dishes. Service was ok. Went at 6 on a Friday for dinner and were the only people in there for a while. Wife got ice tea and wasn't offered any sugar or lemon. I just had water and even thought the waiter came by a couple of times and glass was empty, he never asked if I wanted more. Pleasant enough but not attentive and didn't seem to know the menu etc. Now the food was really quite good. We had Moo Yang Pork on a Skewer. Pork was well cook and had two yummy sauces. The New York Steak, Thai Style was delicious! It was expertly cooked and we subbed out the sweet potato fries for pan-fried green beans which were also delicious. Also had the Hawaiian Fried Rice. It was good but didn't have pineapple or raisins as list, oh well maybe next time. Prices pretty similar to other Belltown Thai places. Overall nice place, wish my service was better like in some other reviews but definitely will go back and try some more dishes but would go back for the steak alone! read more

My husband and I love Thai food and try it everywhere we go. I'm a big fan of the Fish Cake Factory their food is excellent. Tom Kha Soup is outstanding as is the Red Curry, the Cashew Chicken and the Pad Kee Mao. All excellent. The owner is a really nice guy and I suspect he's trying to get it right in terms of the staff and the timing for the food. I've noticed they are still trying to balance all of this out. I've definitely encountered less than ideal service and occasionally a long wait especially when they are busy. But the food is so good and the owner such a nice guy that I find myself willing to deal with it. Hopefully he will iron out some of this with time. I think it's definitely worth the wait. Loved our visit today. We have 2 young kids and even though they did not have a kids menu they let us order sides which worked really well (sticky rice, egg, noodles etc.) my red chicken curry was as good as any I have had (even thailand) and my wife loved her pad Thai. I got my pineapple friedrice and pad thai here., im not sure if its just the container but i ate the rice which i thought was kind of small serving. I guess because they put extra effort to make it taste good that give a bigger serving that would taste like eh! One order is good for one im telling you. So i had my pad thai to go., and since the box is bigger i got a bigger serving., thats the whole explanation of portion size confusion., it taste pretty good but not phenomenal that you would dream about it, you will still come back when you crave for it. This review is one of the great new places to eat located in the downtown area just a few blocks from The Seattle Center. Myself being a chef very much enjoyed the decor and the wait staff who had just move here from San Francisco Calif. The Salad was definitely great and had all the seasons for the pallet as well as I had the Fried Fish Cakes Sampler Platter, I just live in the next block and am always walking by as I do the staff always wave at me. The friend that I took in for his birthday had the Salmon Dinner and could not stop taking about it. If you at all get a chance to drop by I would highly recommend it! Place is fantastic! I don't write reviews, but I'm making an exception because people need to know about this place. My girlfriend and I had the yellow curry with chicken and the Orange chicken, respectively. Both were phenomenal. The Orange chicken was crispy and yet filling. It had great flavor and the portion size was substantial for the price. We also had all the appetizers they had on the happy hour menu, and were most impressed with the taro cakes. This place is very unassuming. A small but excellent place to indulge yourself. Almost the best Thai place in Belltown/Downtown. Their crab cakes are fantastic and must try! They were kind enough to get us half portion of the 3 huge cakes to taste the first time we went in. Love their curries. We had dinner there Sunday night, visiting Seattle. We had the chili and basil red snapper cakes - they were really good, fresh, crispy on the outside, tasty Thai flavoring in the cakes plus a good slightly sweet sauce. Our only other dish was the orange chicken, which was only okay. We saw a red curry on the way out and it looked great. Attentive and friendly service. Be careful with the star rating on how hot you want your dish. Went here for lunch today, won't be going back. We went early, were about the 4th table seated, and still waited about half an hour for our 2 dishes to come out. The Tom Kha Gai was bland and heavy, a bit like a can of coconut milk warmed up and not much else. The Pad Kee Mao was tasty, but practically cold by the time we got it. The server kept our water refilled, but was otherwise inattentive. We asked for chili peppers in fish sauce, and he brought about a tablespoon in one of those little plastic takeout condiment cups. We split that little bit among our food, and when he came back to do the 2-minute check, we asked for more peppers. He agreed, took the cup away, and never brought us more. And the place never really got busy; the server had plenty of time to stand around. Overall, the food was edible and the service slow and inattentive. No point going here when there are so many other places nearby with much better performance. read more

We ordered Corn Fritters to start with (since my friend is a pure no-meat person) which was awesome! then hopped on to Garlic Delight for myself and Fried Rice both of which were good. I had also ordered Thai Basil Martini which was ok. Saw lot of people taking a to-go which is a great quick option. Ti22 for people who haven't guessed it derives its name from Titanium element whose atomic # is 22. Owner seems to be a scientific research person. Suggest you to try this out. read more
