Wow so so good! Their green beans were the perfect balance between numbing salty and spice. Their dry pot large intestine was pretty spicy haha but very much worth it. La zi ji is one of my go tos and this one was pretty good. Though some of the chicken pieces were really salty, some sweet and some spicy so hopefully better mixed in spices for a better balance. At $13.99, you are given a large amount of food that you'll probably take home for later. Rice comes with egg, plenty of peas, carrots, and smoked pork. Although pricier than other Szechuan restaurants I've been to in Seattle, both dishes came with a generous portion size. The Sichuan Eggplant was definitely the highlight - best 鱼香茄子 I've had in Seattle! I noticed that they deep fried it in a light batter prior to pan frying with the sauce, making the dish so fragrant and having a nice chewy texture. The Sauerkraut Fish was good, but not the best. This is just my preference as the broth was a little too watery for me - I prefer the broth thicker. SERVICE: Incredibly lovely servers, definitely notable in the customer service department. One of the servers offered to change our tables as they noticed the sunlight was shining directly as us, and another offered to pack our leftovers. OVERALL: The only thing keeping me from coming too often is the price. There are other Szechuan restaurants that are not as high quality but significantly cheaper. Both dishes were yummy! We really enjoyed the soup. The eggplant was very tasty too but we both felt it would be better with meat. Oh baby. We ordered the raindrop cake and glutinous rice dessert and had them as appetizers. The raindrop cake is a generous portion, I prefer it here rather than the ones you get at boba places. The glutinous rice desert was a deep fried mochi with a sort of breading and a brown sugar dip that was absolutely delicious. I loved the Kung pao shrimp, twice cooked pork, Dan Dan mien, eggplant, and beef rattan (Hua Jiao /Sichuan peppercorn). Kung pao shrimp. Not as spicy as I thought it would be, good balance of savory, sweet, sour, and spice. Twice cooked pork was a great balance of flavors as well. Eggplant was sooo good. Great balance of flavors. The noodles in the Dan Dan were very tasty. I loved the texture. The beef rattan will numb your mouth in the most glorious way. If you're a fan of Hua Jiao, this is fantastic. Not as spicy as hot pot. We ordered a lot more than we could finish, but the chopsticks did not want to stop. That's the thing about good Chinese food. It makes you lose control a bit because you can't stop eating. Luckily, I had friends that reminded me that being full is a thing, and the server packed everything up for us very nicely. This is probably one of the top 3 Sichuan restaurants in greater Seattle. Authentic clean taste (at least for Seattle standards), good portions, reasonable prices, what else can you ask for? Of course you can drive to Vancouver for better food but gas is expensive these days, so Tian Fu is a legitimate choice here. This location is said to be better than the Bellevue location, I haven't been to the latter so can't comment, but I can say this place is probably better than all the other Szechuan and Hunan places I've tried on the east side. Came on a weekday night. Service was pretty slow, it took around 15 minutes to get seated and then my order took around 40 minutes to get to me after I ordered since their ordering system glitched and they didn't receive my order until I went to check on it. The food itself was pretty good though. I got the beef and tofu and the string beans. The beef itself isn't that high quality but the seasoning was well made and not too spicy. It does come with peanuts on top which I don't think are necessary and to be honest don't add anything to the dish. So I would ask to remove them next time I get it. The tofu was soft but the problem was that the pieces are much too large as if the chef was just way too lazy to cut them into a good size to eat. I also had the same problem with the beef. The string beans I had no problem with, they were crunchy and also well seasoned. The only issue perhaps with them is that they are a little too salty. Overall this restaurant isn't bad, the food is authentic and tastes good but there definitely are some issues with service and some minor issues with how the food is prepared. read more

This spot used to be a ramen joint and before that it was a buffet place. I didn't realize that a new restaurant had opened up here until they popped up on yelp. It's still soft-opening for now, but I think they're almost ready. They're still in a staff-training mode and the only time we had to wait was when we entered and they had to go get the manager to seat us, which wasn't a long wait anyway. We were super impressed with the work they'd done with the place. It has a modern but contemporary feel to it with some oriental decors and some black and gold color theme going on. They keep the place really clean, changing to a new tablecloth each time they clear up a table. The chairs are heavy but are super comfortable to sit on, but the larger tables use standard wooden chairs. The menu is quite big and pretty self-explanatory. Since our server already came back twice, we just (hurriedly) decided to order familiar dishes like Black Pepper Beef on Sizzling Platter, Kung Pao Chicken and the Sichuan Eggplants. The eggplants were meaty chunks, so it was satisfying to eat. My husband really likes the Kung Pao Chicken and the Black Pepper Beef. The Kung Pao dish actually had a really prominent chili-oil taste which he truly is a fan of. For me personally, I would say that the food that we ordered were quite good, but flavorwise, it seems to me they're still playing on the safe side. Maybe it's just due to the fact that we were sticking to standard dishes on our part, but still I wish the flavors were bolder. I do see myself coming back here to explore their other dishes tho, like the pork spareribs, fish and/or other seafood dishes. We got there for an early dinner at 6ish, and within 30 mins the place was packed. The staff worked fast. Menu, a pitcher of water and the drinking glass were already ready on the table when we sat down. And as mentioned earlier, our server was quick to come to our table (twice) to take our order. All our food also came almost immediately like within 5 minutes, we didn't have to wait long at all. Everything was served hot and tasted fresh. Stacy the manager came to our table to check on us. And our server came to pack our leftovers for us. Parking is super easy at the parking garage in the same building where Target is, across Northgate Mall. Overall, we are happy that there's a new good Sichuan restaurant nearby us. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and our experience today, can't wait to come back and try everything on their menu. We relied on the Yelp 4-star rating to try this restaurant. After eating here, we don't know why this restaurant has such a high rating. At lunch time today, there were hardly anybody here. Bad sign. We ordered beef stew noodle, mapo tofu, fried pork knuckle and jasmine tea. For four of us they gave a pot with only one tea bag ($3.50). Just like drinking hot water. Stingy! The mapo tofu, an easy typical Chinese dish, tastes awful. So much oil, so salty and they added some Eastern Indian spice like cumin or coriander which change the taste entirely. The beef stew noodle broth is so heavy with anise spice. The fried pork knuckle is fine. About the service, how about eating noodle soup without a spoon and eating rice with chopsticks on a plate. I think this is an average Szechuan restaurant, but can definitely hit the spot if you're craving spicy food. I think my tolerance is about a medium level spicy for your reference. I called in and picked up food for takeout. Dan Dan Noodles: 6/10. This was SPICY!! I was expecting more of a noodle dish that comes with lots of minced pork and WET peanut dressing to mix in with the noodles. This dish is actually pretty dry and they don't give you a lot of minced pork or sauce so I was disappointed. I was also not expecting it to be so spicy. Kung Pao Chicken: 7/10, lots of chicken and peanuts included, but also very predictable taste. Sichuan Eggplant: 7/10 Large chunks of eggplant and bell peppers soaked in spicy sauce. This was my favorite dish. Yang Zhou Fried Rice: 7/10 Rice was pretty dry and there was only one piece of shrimp in the whole friend rice. Overall I think this is a decent Szechuan place, but there wasn't anything that blew my mind. I probably will not be returning. read more

So I couldn't tell you how thrilled I was to see a decent-looking Chinese restaurant opening up near me. After reading an overwhelming amount of positive reviews for the Sichuan Eggplant dish, which is also one of my absolute favorites, I decided to stop by during lunch time for a take out. I cannot be more pleased with the authenticity of the flavors for this dish. And, I would say, having tried it at many restaurants in both Seattle and back in China, this dish is bomb. The eggplants are well-cooked--saucy and soft-- as they should be, with a bit of sweet taste. (However, this dish can be a little too oily for those who are not used to it. Though, in Chinese food, eggplants are usually cooked with a lot of oil.) The portion, at least for the takeout, was pretty big. I was pleased. Two days later, I returned with my bf, and we ordered the twice-cooked pork (also one of my favorites) and pork intestine. Both taste super authentic. I would highly recommend the twice-cooked pork for the meat lovers who enjoy a mixture of lean and fat meat. The pork intestine, on the other side, is an acquired taste in and of itself. We also ordered rice; it was the same price as many other places but they give you a bit more which is a plus. Overall, a pleasant experience. The interior seems like the restaurant owner had put in a lot of effort into. The chairs are gigantuous to a point that it could probably fit two people. Pro: The food was really tasty! We didn't get super adventurous- Kung Pao chicken and Szechuan green beans- but both items had a lovely amount of heat and were really delicious. We were sad we didn't get the Yang Zhou Fried Rice that we ordered, but maybe another time. Con: We ordered our food around 5:00 for pick up at 6:30. At 5:30, I got a text telling me the food was ready. In my experience, when you ask to pick up food at a specific time, the restaurant times the preparation of your order accordingly- so this was either a mistake by the kitchen (the ticket that came with my meal clearly says "pick up at 6:30"), or that's just how they roll. I did mention it to the staff when I picked up the food and they were polite, but pretty unconcerned about it. If they're just cooking orders as soon as they come in regardless of when the customer has asked to pick it up, they should post something on their website about it. Also, our order was wrong- my fault for not checking it before I left the restaurant. We got two orders of Kung Pao- one chicken and one pork (?)- instead of the aforementioned rice. So, we have lots of leftovers which is great, but they need better organization when it comes to the timing of orders and making sure orders are correct. read more

Stumbled on this gem in passing from my Target shopping and boy was I surprised! Turns out this new spot has a lot to offer! From the elegant decor, to the massive dining area, service and food. This place hit all the marks for me! Every time I eat here I get the Kung Pao chicken and Hot Wings! My boyfriend would recommend the spare ribs! One of the first surprises are the sizes of the chairs LOL. They're not uncomfortable by any means, theyre just sort of big in seating area. Giving you a lot of space behind you and no real way to lean back and enjoy this food ha ha. Again, not a gripe just something I haven't experienced before. Otherwise I just can't emphasize enough how much me and my boyfriend love this new szechuan! The staff seem to do a good job tending to all the guests, busy or not so busy...My water was always full, they were attentive to our napkin needs for short ribs lol, and our MASSIVE food portions never seem to take too long at all! Not to mention very reasonable prices for a couple generous portioned entrees, rice and a couple sodas...I've definitely spent more for less and worse! Food was too greasy, way too much salt and just plain oil. I feel sad for the people who work there, but at the same time they don't keep the place clean. The neighborhood is decaying. I used to live in the Northgate area for many years some time ago and it wasn't like that. The reason why I decided to write a review was because both my husband and I got food poisoned after we ate there. We got very sick for a a whole day and a half approximately. So, long enough for all that food to be out of our system.
