I've driven by this place several times. I was so hungry I figured it's time to check it out. The young girl was very nice, and very patient with me. I thought I wanted the nacho's but I went for the taco salad with blackened chicken, But when I walked in and saw all those different sauces....I was in heaven! Looks like about 15 different sauces! I think I tried 5 of them. I really didn't even need the salad dressing after I saw the hot sauces! One of them I really liked. It was thick, and had a nice kick to it. I know. I hate just leaving bad reviews. Came in @ 845pm. Closes at 10pm. All the tables chairs put up. Outside area closed for dining on Taco Tuesday. Every customer came in was like yall closed because of the attitudes of the staff rushing every patron that came in. So I guess you have to come in at 6pm to get a table. Slap my butt and call me Sally it was good to roll past a Tijuana flats in walking distance from a Tesla supercharging station. Friendly service and fresh hot food. The short child inhaled her soft chicken and cheese taco while the tall child snacked on black beans and Mexican rice. I picked up a gooey chicken chimichanga and have no regerts. It's been awhile since I've been in my home state of Florida and on my way to find dinner, I saw this Tijuana Flats. T Flats has always been a hometown favorite for me so I stopped in. The guy at the register did not greet me at all once I walked in or even ask me if I needed help once I looked over the menu. That was a bit disappointing and he seemed like he didn't want to be there. Anyway, I ordered the taco combo with chips and queso and it came out quickly. I brought it back to my hotel to eat and the chips were very stale. I can now see why this location did not have the best reviews. I needed something quick to pick up for dinner and decided on Tijuana Flats. It had been a while since my last visit and I wanted to give them another try. Unfortunately, it wasn't all that great. I ordered a beef burrito with chips & salsa. I thought it was just ok. The rice wasn't authentic. The beef was decent. Nothing really great or memorable. The service was also pretty slow. I waited quite a while for my order. I had plenty of time to check out their sauces and take a few to-go. The honey & habanero pepper sauce and the sweet chili hot sauce are the 2 I like best. I probably won't be back. There are better places in Jax to get Mexican as well as Tex-Mex. read more

Tried it out and the food wasn't good or bad. It was pretty basic. There is no menu posted when you walk in so when we walked up to the counter to order, we had to ask for a me menu. We weren't handed a menu, just told where some were sitting so we could grab it. The food itself is not fresh. It isn't bad, it just isn't something to write home about. The place smells kind of old. We never tried the sauces because we didn't want to get sick. My advice, if you are passing through town, just keep going. A Chipotle chain is probably a step up and would give you a better experience. read more

Went to try for the first time after driving 30 minutes. I arrived the place looks amazing the customer service was great but the food was terrible. I ordered a Classic Cheesy Chimichanga with bangin' chicken . I specifically asked for no sauce after the cashier let me try it. I remember their burritos would be warm, but I recently bit down into two separate orders with cold rice and beans. Not very enjoyable. I'd have to think twice before coming again. OMGosh how I love Tijuana Flats! This restaurant starred me in the face for a couple of years before hubby and I finally decided to try it one night when the people over at Moe's pissed us off. First let me talk about their queso and chips. It's a yellow cheese rather than the usual white, but it is ah-mazing! At least once or twice a week, I come here just to get that and nothing else. Either for a snack or a meal. Yes, I have actually eaten just their queso and chips for a meal many times! LOL It's really cheap too for the amount you get. The price is escaping me because hubby always pays, but I'm pretty sure it's only $3.99. It's definitely no higher than that. Not only is the queso wonderful, but so are their chips; they are always warm and they are seasoned perfectly. I could eat an entire bag of just their chips! Next, their dessert.... Cookie Dough Flautas. Here comes another OMGOSH!! They are made to order and they are pure perfection! They are warm and oh so ooey and gooey! They are come with a chocolate dipping sauce. For only $2.99 you get six of them and they are perfect to share. There are been many nights while hubby and I are watching TV and we want something sweet, so we run to TF to grab this dessert and bring back home. You absolutely MUST try these! They've made it into my top three desserts of all time. Seriously, they are THAT GOOD! (there I go with that same comment again! LOL) They have Taco Tuesdays and I don't know what they call Thursdays, but it's a burrito meal. Hubby always gets these (I've never tried either), but he loves the tacos and the burritos. Again, he pays, but I think it's $5.99 for the meal and it comes with a drink and chips (oh.... those chips!). When I'm actually getting a meal (not just queso or dessert), I always get the same thing.... the steak chimichangas. I love them and I highly recommend getting them "wet," which just means they pour their wonderful queso all over the top of them. ALL of the employees (including managers) are wonderful. They were wonderful before they even started to know us because we come here so often! Jeeeez..... I have a lot of Yelp check-ins here, but I often forget to check-in, so the number of check-ins that show is not accurate at all... it's at least triple that number! Very clean restaurant and nice atmosphere. As I said, food is made to order, but they are very fast! Decided to swing by TJF on a lazy Sunday afternoon because my COVID-19-pandemic-induced-socially-distanced-locked-down family was screaming, "Bring us burritos!!!" And when the family unit wants burritos, you high tail it to Tijuana Flats. With this Coronavirus thing still keeping us all away from social gatherings, I placed an online order for pickup. They made this soooo easy! A few clicks and an easy online payment using ApplePay, and this mission was underway. Upon arrival, I stepped inside and saw they had arranged tables to one side with bags of takeout ready and waiting. I quickly spotted mine, snagged it and scooted back out to my car. It all felt a little like a dine-and-dash moment, but without the associated criminal penalties. Since I already paid online, there was no need to interact with any humans (this closet introvert's dream come true). Of course, the burritos were huge, awesome, and made precisely to order. This was my second time at Tijuana Flats but my first time at this location near the airport. Not long after arriving I noticed that the staff were all super friendly and they took their job seriously with regards to serving their customers. I also observed as the staff addressed several of the regular customers which is always a good sign :-) The staff member advised me and my friend of the most popular items on the menu. This was helpful and I took her advice and ordered the carnitas flautas. This meal came with homemade guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cheese sauce! This is my new favorite menu item! All the different flavors combined created a masterpiece! I also tried three hot sauces from the hot bar. My favorite was Georgia Peach and Vidalia onion. But today, I came here to say that the customer service experience I've had at my last two visits to this location have been especially positive. Both of the employees working out front today had a great attitude and made me want to return. The young Black guy working has for the second time impressed me with his positive vibes. Today another employee opened the door for both a couple coming in with a stroller and for me as I was leaving with my online order. So the food here is usually good but the customer service is what brought me here to leave this review. This place was great! The atmosphere was cool, with graffiti art throughout. We ordered up at the counter, unlike a standard restaurant, then sat inside. They brought our food out quickly, and we were free to check out the salsa bar. There were so many different sauces available, ranging from mild to HOT HOT HOT! Some of the sauces are available to buy if you like it that much! As far as the food goes, everyone liked what they ordered! The serving size was generous, and it all tasted great!
