I like the salsa and chips. Its that seasoning they put on them chips that make the super tasty to me. I like the fact that there is a sauce bar. I have never seen so many sauces in one place at a Mexican food restaurant. I had a taste testing good time. They were in order from sweet to spicy. I tried the chicken taco and it was super good! That nice char on that chicken was out of sight. Customer service was friendly and fast. I likes all the bold colors and sinage that decorated the restaurant. I will be going back . So... I'm from San Antonio, TX so I know good Tex-Mex food when I taste it. Me and a friend ate at Tijuana Flats a while back for lunch and the experience was just O.K. When we walked in I was impressed by the artwork on the walls!!! I love colorful restaurants! It was also pretty packed which is what I expected considering we went around lunch time. One thing that I absolutely LOVE is great customer service and that alone would be a reason for me to go back to this Tijuana Flats! The customer service that day was AMAZING!!! Everyone was so nice and attentive to our needs as consumers. So much so the hostess offered to bring me a drink while I waited in line!!! Whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant, I feel it a necessity to order chips and salsa. Wellll....it wasmajor disappointment. I was hoping the salsa had a lot more flavor. The chicken and barbacoa flautas made up for it a little. They came with rice and beans which were pretty average. The hot bar is awesome! It has a variety of sauces from mild to HOTT so everyone can be happy!!! My friend got the chicken chimichanga and said they loved it! It looked really good and I'm kind of upset that I didn't try it. I had two tacos here and chips/salsa with a side of guacamole. My tacos were like super size so 2 were perfect!! They were very tasty and the hard shell was nice and crispy. The salsa was pretty good but I was disappointed in the guacamole which sucks. Not my type of guacamole it seemed to have a sweeter taste to it. Anyways I would definitely eat at this chain again and even though I got pick-up, food still tasted hot and fresh. We ordered four entrees and an appetizer. The payment was completed at 8:05 on the receipt (which I didn't keep, shame on me) and we were told "15-20 minutes". We finally got our food at around 9:15. The quality was fine, but the wait spoiled everything. Other families were having similar issues with misplaced orders, long, long waits, and no explanation. I don't know what the issue was but the customers on 4/10/2021 at around 8:00 pm till well after 9:30 have a similar story to tell. So turned off I may never go back. read more

This place is a small chain based out of Florida with some locations in Ga. it's just like Chipotle or Moe's, but better, with fresher ingredients. I really like it, great consistency from restaurant to restaurant. You can get a burrito bowl with chips and a "trio" of dips: queso, guac, and salsa with a large drink for $12.00. Try it out if you've never been, definitely better than the big box chains mentioned above. read more

I don't typically patronize Tijuana Flats so I may have no idea what I'm talking about, but I found myself staying around the airport for a couple days and... well, a guy's gotta eat. I got the chicken nachos. I'm generally not a tough customer, but what I received was basically a container of chips and lettuce, with a couple tablespoons of chicken and some fancy drizzle of crema (I assume) and some sliced jalapenos. This was the saddest nachos I ever forced down my gullet. The only reason this made it down was the 6 tiny containers of various hot sauces I mindfully extracted while waiting*. Now, I don't know what the general protocol is here, with a TF nachos recipe, or even what "corporate" says is supposed to be there. I'm just saying this was sad. $7 sad. Went in for Veterans Day Lunch.... I was able to get my lunch for free because I'm a vet. I got 4 chicken tacos and took in their "Hot Bar" for some toppings and spices. The customer was nice and friendly. I didn't have to wait long for my order even when it was a crowded. The chips and salsa were good. The chips were heated and were seasoned great! Let's start with it's not my first time at TJ Flats, but it is the worst. I started visiting TJ Flats in Orlando during college, and have never been treated like this or had this horrible service. To begin with my son ordered a chicken burrito with cheese, within 3 minutes of it being at the table, I knew it wasn't chicken because there is grease filling the bottom of his plate. When I take it up to the counter, I didn't have to say anything, she already knew what it should have been. My daughter asked for a side of salsa, and the girl said that will be 60 cents. I gave my daughter money to go order and it was $1.06. I have never been charged for salsa with a paid meal. I ordered a taco salad with cheese and tomatoes. Comes out no tomato's had to ask for that then had to ask for my dressing. The dressing I asked for was avocado ranch, well needless to say it's a great ranch, but no avocado. When I asked if it was the right dressing I got "ya we all make it different" no one sipping down tables, but they are having great conversation in the back. While this won't end my trips to TJ Flats, possibly my business is appreciated other places. read more

I've left a review for the other flats in 5 points so see that one if you want food reviews. This one is obviously the same, but the decor inside this one is much better. It's also a few months old being new to the northside. Thankfully the northside so needed this place up here. I hate taco bell and this is the best place to get tacos. Granted it's not very authentic mexican (american-mexican?), but that doesn't bother me. The management is very nice. They accidentally gave my order to another customer who for some reason decided to leave with it even though it wasn't what he ordered... anyways she gave me my order promptly, apologized, and gave me a $15 gift card to use. We have gotten this specific Tijuana probably on average 2-4 times a month for three years. A few years ago we had multiple bad experiences, I reached out to the regional manager, he explained they were struggling with a manager of the specific location and generously gave me a gift card and asked to send him feedback when we used it. Ever since then we have had no problems! Again my husband and I are obsessed with Tijuana. A few weeks ago my husband got food poisoning. We know it was Tijuana because we ate the same all day until dinner, I decided to grab what my kids were having and he still wanted Tijuana. He was extremely ill and in severe pain for days. Doctor confirmed it was food poisoning. He had the bangin chicken tostadas. They were very behind that day, online ordering was down and mentioned they were low on kitchen staff but food poisoning is clearly still unacceptable. I wrote Tijuana on the website and had received a voicemail from the area manager. I returned his call twice with two voicemails over the following week and never heard back from him. I think that made it even worse. Overall my husband refused to ever eat Tijuana again. Take it as you will, we had years of greatness and only a few bad times but food poisoning clearly " was the straw that broke the camels back". read more

Service sucks!!! I went in to place an order to go. (You have to order in person because they don't pick up the phone and the app doesn't work for this location.) There were 6 people waiting ahead of me. I waited 10 minutes and no one came to take anyone's order. I went to the kitchen and asked if anyone was working the register. I was told they were short staffed and someone would be taking orders shortly. The woman who told me this information did so in a nasty tone- as if I should be glad she spoke to me at all. I left. I'm glad this was added to the Northside to enhance our lunchtime options!! It just opened to the place is crazy busy but the staff is super nice and is taking it in stride. Once it calms down it will definitely become part of our lunch rotation. Their food is fresh and you have lots of options as to what combinations you might want to try. Sometimes, with any Mexican place, you can get some stale chips - which happened on my last visit - but if you ask, they will bring you fresh. All in all a solid "fast" restaurant! read more

Obviously I know how effing fajita is spelled. We have dined here numerous times since they opened and enjoyed the food. Our most recent visits was not nearly as enjoyable due to poor quantity's of food and louder than usual music which made it impossible to converse with folks at our own table. I ordered Flautas and the plate was presented at my table with little if any filling in the flautas. I took the plate back to the counter and they offered to remake it for me. When it was presented at our table again, it was basically the same, little if any filling. A very nice concept and the array and variety of hot sauces is what really makes it. I enjoy trying the different sauces from sweet and mild to over the top insanely hot. You can try different combinations every time you go. They also offer a few different types of beer on tap and when I visited they were running a special on Mexican beers. So you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. We sat outside and since you really don't have a server and the fountain drink machine is behind the counter it is inconvenient to get refills. I asked the person to bring me just some regular salsa and it never happened. Seating is limited and during lunch gets filled up quick. The food is typical Tex-Mex and portion sizes are pretty good. Entrees come with chips and you choose your salsa/sauce. Tacos, burritos, and chimichangas are always pretty good. More for adults then picky eaters or children in my opinion. read more

This is a horrible misrepresentation of what Tex-Mex should be and I'm offended. Seriously...I ordered the "Pick Dos" where you get to pick two items on the menu. It was a great price...but like they say, you get what you pay for. I picked the steak burrito and the beef enchilada. The steak burrito was terrible. When you took a bite there was maybe 8-10 pieces of beef in the entire burrito. When you think Tex-Mex "steak" you think strips of meat but these were like little chunks of beef. Worse yet the meat was swimming...I mean totally drenched in that Old El Paso red can sauce you can buy at any grocery store. The second item I got was the beef enchilada. I went to the Flats with an open mind cause I have been to others and well let's say they didn't do very well. Now this just opened up about 2 weeks ago. It seems to be doing well for now but you know how new restaurant do. I happened to hit it on Taco Tuesday so I got tacos. Now I just came off of Pepe's Hacienda so they had some stiff competition. I have to say they stacked up pretty well. I ordered beef tacos and they had a good amount of meat. The meat was even spiced fairly well to. Then to add some more good the tacos had the right amount of fixings to. I mean sour cream on the whole taco with lettuce that didn't fill the taco. Everything was in the right portion. I went for Lunch today and tried the Chimichanga. I eat these all the time at other Mexican restaurants, so I'm comparing what I know is good. As you can see in my picture it's well presented and gift wrapped. It was just ok, nothing really made it stand out. Yes it has a cool atmosphere. It's full service, so your servers are quickly filling your drinks and asking if they can bring you anything. If you pay cash, you leave a tip in the glass bowl by the cash register or on your credit card when you pay. I ordered the chicken chimichanga so they asked me if I wanted my chicken blackened or not. I asked which one do you prefer and she suggested the blackened chicken so I got that one. They ask if you want this and that on everything. The lunch price for this was around $7. I also got a diet coke. The bill rang up $12. If I knew I was paying for extra items, I would have declined, but they don't tell you that's extra. I would give it a 3 star but when I paid $12 and I was never told I'm paying extra, I'm giving them a 2 star. The servers are very friendly and as one other review said, it gets pretty crowded. I was sitting by the door and the line was behind me going out the door. The server was constantly saying excuse me because she was trying to get around my chair. Final recommendation: Ask if you're paying extra for those items their trying to upcharge you. read more

Hands down best thing about the place is the management team. They are amazing. Always feel welcomed by the staff and it is very well operated. Taco Tuesday is an awesome deal, which includes 2 tacos, chips, and a drink for 5.50. I recommend the blackened chicken, it's way better than the beef. They also have wheat tortillas for a healthier option. The food is ok, but we go for the deal nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
