Hidden gem! We're in this lot often to grocery shop, but stumbled upon Tikka Pizza when our kids were craving cheese pizza instead of Indian food. Good things first -- this place has an innovative menu with Indian inspired pizzas and bites on top of your usual classic pizzas. We swung by for a late lunch on a Sunday and the place was rather deserted. The open sign was off but there was a paper sign that said open. The interior is small, basic, with 4 tables. The cashier works both the front and the kitchen so I can see this becoming a real problem during peak hours or if there are multiple to go orders. The service was friendly but we were kept guessing if/when our food was coming and whether he had actually understood our entire order. We grabbed a tandoori paneer calzone and a curry puff. The calzone was a good size, we shared between two hungry adults so I think it would have been enough for 3 meals if it was just me. The crust was good and the filling was flavorful and spicy, but there were too many raw red onions and also...the calzone had not been heated all the way through with the cheese in the middle not having melted at all. The curry puff was good but nothing stellar. I will say that the slow service, nebulous nature of whether the restaurant was open or not, and just overall quality of the food made me feel like it was just so so. I'd wholeheartedly recommend better logistics for the orders/cooking and also a facelift for the interior. read more

Great spot for Indian pizza! We got the butter chicken and chettinadu paneer pizzas and both were good and saucy, though our favorite was of course the butter chicken. In fact it's one of the sauciest Indian pizzas I've had, and I do love sauce but it makes the pizza fall apart easier too. They also gave us 2 pastries for free and they were both delicious! One of them is filled with a chicken filling and the other is just a swirly bun with some Indian flavors. I'll be back when I'm craving a really saucy Indian pizza! Located right beside a large Indian store, it is a very convenient post-shopping meal. We come here for pizza, although they have Indo-Chinese dishes and wide variety of pastry cakes. I have only ordered from here on DoorDash and haven't dined in. The food is excellent. This is my favorite Indian place in all of SD. The pizzas are perfection. My favorite is the Chicken Chettinadu Pizza. The pizzas are a perfect blend of saucy-ness, cheesy-ness and are packed with flavor. Some days, they have South Indian food too. I really loved their Benne Dosa and I sincerely hope this remains a permanent item on their menu. They have nailed the Momos too. I really like their Chicken Jhol Momos and kudos to these guys to provide items not available anywhere else in SD. Now the latest addition is their Iyengar Bakery Puff and Cake collection. This brings back a taste of childhood nostalgia and I am very happy that they have this menu. This stands them apart from all other Indian restaurants in the area. The best part however is their service and dedication to their customers. I order regularly and every single time, there is a complimentary surprise item they add in my order. They go above and beyond to make their customers smile by adding a puff or pastry to the order. I am really impressed and I will continue supporting this business. So TLDR : TPK never disappoints! This place feels so homey! They have a lot of variety. The pizza was sooo delicious. Someone came in telling the owner that their cakes were a hit at a gathering. So they also sell cakes and pastries. I will be coming again to try their other pizza flavors! read more

Just ordered three different pizzas from Tikka Pizza and we immensely enjoyed all of them. Saag Paneer, Pav Bhani, and Butter Chicken were all tasty and faithful tributes to the dishes they're based on, with the spice taken down a level. While they were excellent fresh, they were even better the day after reheated after the flavors melded a bit. In addition to tasty pizza, I ordered online and the pizzas were fresh on pick up, and service from the pizza maker was great. I've had Indian pizzas in the Bay Area, and in India, and I am so glad Tikka pizza is here in San Diego as a nice alternative to traditional pizza. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The moment I entered, the worker at the front was talking to his friend on his phone, which should have been the red flag I needed to walk out. We placed an order for one pizza, and waited for 20 mins. Keep in mind we were the only customers inside during lunch hour. Still no pizza. Checked with the guy on the counter, and all he said was "it's coming soon", and went back on his phone like an ipad kid. We waited for another 25 minutes and went to check again and he had this look on his face like "oh yeah oops, i forgot they ordered" and went to the back to grab it. At that point the pizza was lukewarm and the meat was cold, as if it was sitting in the back for a long time. He started blaming everyone else other than himself and didn't even look sorry or even cared about us. Horrible service. Terrible outlook. Overall insane that he thought it was okay to disregard the ONLY customers in the restaurant. Never come here if you are on lunch break, they will take longer than 45 minutes to get a measly pizza out. read more

Pizza and Indo-Chinese? Sign me up. I love both separately and together. However, this place seemed to fall a little short for me. I'd had Indian pizzas in the Bay Area before so there was already a bar to meet. I ordered the Chicken Tikka pizza and veggie momos to take home. The service wasn't too friendly so I would suggest knowing what the food you're ordering is ahead of time. I didn't have to wait too long considering I ordered inside and then carried out. Inside is pretty basic with some tables and chairs, not frou-frou but enough to get the job done of having seats for customers. The pizza had all the elements of a chicken tikka pizza, but I'm not sure what fell flat for me. It might have been the dough was a little undercooked and sort of blended with the cheese topping. I usually prefer a thin crust to avoid this type of thing, otherwise the chicken and the spices were really good. The veg momos were okay, I had never had them before so I wasn't sure what to expect other than veggie dumplings. Horrible experience of all time in the entire Galaxy. First time there ordering a pizza. There was only one guy working at the front register, and he was on his cell phone the entire transaction. He told me that my order would be ready in 12 minutes. Waited inside for 20 min after ordering, got up and asked him if my pizza will be ready soon? He said yes, so I waited until 30 minutes after ordering, asked him again and same answer "will be ready soon", so I waited until 40 minutes after ordering, he blatently asked me if I wanted to order another pizza? At this point, I was hangry and told him "NO, why would I want to order another pizza?", then he asked me "then what do you want?". WTF, where is my pizza that I'd ordered 40 minutes ago? He said, let me go and check, then walked out with my pizza, blaming the cook for not telling him that my order was ready. I yelled saying "WTF I'm the only customer in here, you were on your phone the entire time, when I'd asked, you said it will be ready, but 40 min has passed and it wasn't ready until I made a big stinky fuzz about it." He seems to be clueless and oblivious to the entire ordeal of the customer. Worst place that I HAVE EVER VISITED AND ORDERED FOOD. Even during my travel in Europe, the servers were snobby, but not at this level of incompetent and disregard to the customers. I would not return to this establishment, and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

I would say 3.5 stars but rounding up to a 4 seems fair. We ordered the chicken tikka pizza on a Thursday evening and it was ready in about 15 to 20 minutes. The pizza was delicious over all with 4/5. The only downside is the crust is so thin. Like New York style but the amount of toppings on top were overpowering it. The flavor was delicious but too many bell peppers made it lean a bit sweet. It was a little pricey in my opinion for a thin crust pizza. I could have eaten the 14" alone in one sitting without sharing. It was $24. The service was normal, but the ambiance was lacking. I think to go is the best way to enjoy this pizza. I'm a huge fan of thin(ner) crust pizza so this did not disappoint. The crust was light and crispy. The topping portions were plenty, and the flavors were delicious. Extremely kind workers! I went recently and got the Tikka pizza, which is one of their top sellers. The toppings were as good as you'd expect from an Indian restaurant, but I was actually surprised by the dough being strong enough to hold everything. The mango lassi that they offer was also solid and great to pair with the pizza. Because they made the pizza fresh, we did have to wait a little, but that is honestly a fair trade off. Their storefront is plain, but I actually appreciate that all the effort and money goes more into the food. The only real downside is that this place is a bit pricey compared to regular pizza places, but I understand since they're offering specialty pizzas made fresh. read more

Would also like to say that the counter service is extremely friendly with broad smiles. How NICE ...and removed from ordering at a kiosk!!! You can smell the food being prepared as they add each item because it fills the waiting room. We simply did a search and read the reviews. This restaurant is a winner of the 2024 Best of Escondido Eats for pizza. Would also like to say the mango smoothie is highly unusual because the flavor is fresh, clearly very ripe mangoes, but not overly ripe and smooth smooth silky texture. I order takeout pizza from here. Flavorful ingredients and sauces. Pizza sizes are plenty big for 2-3 people. Not a place to eat healthy from. Good location near the Indian stores. First time I ordered via Uber Eats for pickup. The order was accepted but when I arrived at the restaurant it was closed with no one inside. When I called the restaurant, someone picked up, first said someone should be there then hung up on me when I asked what I should do. I tried calling them again but they never picked up. Thankfully, Uber refunded me but it was still a waste of time. I figured I'd give them another shot and ordered directly from them. Got to the restaurant to pick up my saag paneer + ricotta pizza at the promised time, ~20 minutes after the order was placed. Door was not locked but there was no one up front. Someone eventually comes out the back, just tells me to wait but wasn't willing to give a time estimate and slinks back into the kitchen. I just hear 2-3 people chatting back there while I wait for my food. I don't mind the chatting but the restaurant wasn't busy and it felt like they just didn't notice and prep my order until after I got there. I ended up waiting another 10 minutes. The paneer and ricotta was fine, but the other cheese on the pizza looked weirdly translucent and tasted horrible. I would not recommend this place and would not go back again. read more

I hate doing this. But my husband and I had to walk out because the guy didn't know how to ring up our order??? We walk in and no one was around. It was quiet as hell so we wondered if anyone was even there. We rang the bell and then finally a guy pops out. We tried ordering two small pizzas.. told him what they were and he kept asking what kind like he Couldn't understand us. Finally he says it's his first time and just had no clue how to use the register.. like he must have been alone cuz he couldn't even ask for help to use the register from anyone else and basically through his hands up and apologized to us.. we ended up coming to The Pizza Joint down the street and enjoyed their pizza.
