I love Indian food. The amount of people who are so ignorant about Indian food is appaling, and they need to be educated. Places like Tikka Shack are one of the places that can provide that education. Introducing Indian flavors in familiar dishes is a good way to transform picky eaters into true gormands. I wanted a quick, delicious dinner one evening before heading out on a road trip the next day. So I swung by to see what this recent move-in had to offer sleepy little Oviedo. Ambiance was very, well, Oviedo. A giant mural adorned the wall. Chickens, the Welcome sign, even a sandhill crane. It was very pretty. Service was superb. There was a nice cashier lady who gave off a owner or manager aura. We talked through the menu together and came up with a couple of delicious options for me to order. Option one was the Tikka Chicken Pizza (Tikka Sauce, garlic, fresh mozzarella, red onions, tomatoes on a Naan crust topped with cilantro). This thing was a lot of fun! A nice, thin, crispy crust, and mozz. But accompanied by a delicious tikka sauce. A little freshness from the onions and the tomatoes, and you have a very nice pie here. Something like that pizza is something a kid would try, or a subdued palate adult would try, and act as a gateway dish that would get them deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole that is the best cuisine on the planet. I love it. I also had a curry, which was nice. Very flavorful. I was expecting a little bland, but no, lots of good spice and flavor. Accompanied with a proper amount of basmati rice. Yummy. And I accented the whole meal with a cheesey, garlicky naan. Which is probably universally accepted as the best bread on the planet. Love that naan. Wash it all down with a mango lassi, and this place knocked my socks off. I don't know what brought them here to Oviedo, but I sure am glad they came. It's nice knowing that I have a fast-casual Indian place right down the road. Will definitely be back. read more

I've been here twice this week because the food is amazing. This is a fast casual spot, where you can order at the kiosk and they deliver it to your table. It is also very clean, spacious, & the staff is welcoming and friendly! I got the Methi Malai Chicken curry (I chose spice level hot) that comes with basmati rice. I also added on a Garlic Naan and everything tasted delish. No notes left. My friend got the Tandoori Chicken pizza and woooowww..... so... good. I mean the food speaks for itself. I found this place while driving by and decided to give it a try. Was definitely intrigued by Tikka masala Pizza. It was a little too overcooked for me. I'm not a big fan of crispy crust and I would recommend doing either a dipping sauce for it or another drizzle of the sauce because it ends up getting really dry after it gets cooked. But it was a great experience. Now I can say I've tried it. Thankfully I also got the tikka masala plate and was able to dip it in the sauce there which helped bring moisture back to the pizza. Tikka plate was definitely a good size portion. The masala fries were probably my favorite. This sauce went really well with the french fries and the tomatoes. The service was friendly. I let them know as our first time and she went over how everything worked. I believe the owner was in the kitchen cooking and she was really friendly and greeted as soon as we walked in. Inside has a really clean feel to it. I like the way it's decorated. There seem to be a birthday party there while we were there and everyone was able to fit around a big table. They have a men and women's restroom in the back. Each is a single person bathroom. So take note if you're going with a group. Overall, I would definitely say to check this place out. It's quite a unique experience and I would come back to try other things on the menu. read more

My friend who lives on the east side of town told me that a new Indian food spot had opened up. I LOVE tikka masala and curry so we rushed right over for dinner. Inside was spacious and clean. Plenty of room for sitting in and enjoying your meal. My friend and I shared two tacos, the paneer and shrimp, some garlic naan, and then we each got our own meal - tikka masala for me and curry for my friend. Everything was SO GOOD. Incredibly flavorful, with some spice. If you cannot do spice, this is not the spot for you. Even the regular/mild spice was spicy (I am a baby when it comes to spice.) However, the spice didn't overpower the taste of the dishes. Huge plus! Highly recommend stopping in if you enjoy Indian cuisine! They have build your own options, so the possibilities are endless. This was pretty good for Indian "fast food". The various Naan choices (Garlic and the Cheese one) were flavorful, but the bottoms were a little lacking in the char I like in traditional naan. I ordered the Shrimp Curry taco which was amazing. It was loaded and was more like a mini flatbread than a taco, but who's going to complain about that. The Spicy Chicken Tika was spicy AF and I need to refill my tiny water cup a few times to make the burn go away. The Tikka Wrap looked really good but I didn't snap a pic of it. The flavors are pretty good and I think some of the bowl dishes would hold up nicely for delivery. I'm thinking Paneer Vindaloo or some other dishes would survive a 20-30 min journey... It's a little out of the way, but I may stop here again for a quick bite or two. read more

We've visited a few times in the short time they've been opened. We haven't had a meal we didn't love. The first week they were opened it took awhile for food to come out, and it was at varying times. We tried it again a week or two later, and pacing was much better- but food was still hot and delicious. Butter chicken is my favorite, my daughter has tried a variety of the wings and loved each one. The garlic naan is wonderful. They have a mango drink that is delicious and not like anything I've tried before. Also don't sleep on the kids meals- the naan pizza and even just chicken fingers are all yummy. Kid friendly, but with a twist on flavors that is appreciated. Bathrooms are always clean and staff is kind and helpful. read more

Fast casual Indian food caught my attention as well as Tikka Shack's ad on Instagram. The customer flow steadily came and went as the lovely Mrs C and I scoured the menu (for the first time) to decide on our selections. So many good options I thought. Finally we decided on the Samosas, Masala Fries, Spicy Chicken Tikka Naan Taco, and the Chicken Kebob Bowl. We chose to order with the person behind the counter although ordering kiosks are available. All the dishes were brought to the table hot and provided great flavor and a good heat level, although Mrs C opted for mild spice on the chicken kebabs. The Masala fries tasted as if they were freshly (and lightly) fried and perfectly spicy with the "secret spices". Even hours later, our daughter polished off the leftovers and told us how she liked the freshness. My only wish would be for a side of tikka masala. The chicken naan taco with all the taste on the soft and crispy naan still had me searching for the chicken. I wished it had more. The Samosas filling stood on its own and the tamarind + mint chutney raised it to the next level, in my opinion. Additional: We found the employees very helpful. We really enjoyed this fast casual Indian eatery! The food is truly outstanding here, albeit not really "traditional" in terms of how some of the dishes are composed. Their menu is made up of some standards, like samosas and curry bowls, but also has some riffs on Indian cuisine, like "tacos" and "pizzas" made with naan, curries, and your choice of protein. I did some research and while this is a chain, I believe their food (but more specifically, curries) is prepared in house. You could taste how well-made this food was. My son's biryani was honestly one of the best, most flavorful biryanis I've ever tasted, and I've eaten MANY! My only complaint was the heat level of the dishes. The restaurant has a three-tiered spice-level system, but it seems that some dishes are simply hot on their own and your only available choice is spiciER. My shrimp curry dish was crazy hot. I had chosen the lowest level of heat on their 3-level system, but the ordering system was unclear that I was ordering a dish that was going to be very hot even at its mildest. The "warning chili pepper" is printed on their (scarce) print menus, but if you order from the kiosk as we did, this heat level was a surprise. My son's biryani, also ordered at the "mildest setting," was very, very hot. All that being said, my family and I are very, very, very familiar with Indian cuisine and make it from scratch at home regularly. This heat surprise was not me being unaware of what I was walking into or anything like that. I'm just concerned that, given the mild tastes of the majority of people who can handle far less heat than I can, this biz might scare off too many folks with the heat level on some of these incredible meals. The service was kind, patient, and welcoming. Possibly family-owned? We look forward to eating here more often, but please be warned that the spice level may be a lot more than what you're expecting. read more

The food was amazing, hot and delicious and a very generous portion! It was made so much better by the fact that the service here was like nothing I've ever had before. It felt like I was being invited into someone's home. The staff answered every question we had about the menu, helped us make a selection and offered to give us the sauce on the side so we could be sure it wasn't too spicy. This place is heaven. When I visited, this spot was only opened for about a week. It was pleasantly surprised with the size of the dining area. It was nice and spacious with plenty of places to sit. You can order from a person or a kiosk. We ordered from a person and she was very sweet. There are a lot of interesting foods on the menu and I will be back to try more varieties. On this visit, I ordered the malai kofta in tikka masala sauce with rice. It was delicious. I also ordered the Samosas and they were fantastic. The outside was buttery and crisp and the center was well seasoned. They have vegetarian and vegan options, as well as some "Americanized" foods for eaters that are not as adventurous. They sell mango lassi in a bottle and it is fantastic. Their fountain drinks are a variety of teas with different flavors. I enjoyed the mango tea the most. They do have Coke products available in bottles from a cooler. My only complaint is that it did take a long time for our party to receive all of our orders. Some of us had finished eating before some plates were even ready, but I think this may just be kinks related to being open for just a short time. I will definitely return to try some of the other options on their menu, like Naan tacos and naan pizza! read more
