My son and I had to try dim sum here since we've heard so much about this place. It was very busy on a Saturday afternoon, however, we were seated almost immediately. The food was mediocre except for the baked barbecue pork buns. I must say the buns were delicious, sweet and savory. The prices were slightly higher and portions were smaller compared to other dim sum places around Houston. Also our waitress went MIA several times. We waited a long time just to pay. It was very noisy inside but we can still carry a conversation. Probably won't be back.

Food was always good for my taste. It's used to be very crowded but not anymore which is fine for me since I don't have to wait to get a table.

My first time was not a good experience and a bit scary. Services were bad, they don't seem like care or know what they are doing. The food was average except chicken feet. My daughter tried it first then told my son who love dim sum chicken feet that it does not taste right so not to eat. Which is very lucky for us as he allergic to peanut. When I pack it to-go, I saw the dishes full of peanuts. The menu clearly said chicken feet in black bean sauce. No PEANUT ALERT at all. And peanut is never an ingredient in this dish. The pork rib show the correct black bean but the chicken feet is absolutely not. Since my son did not eat and did not have the allergy reaction, I didn't want to make a scene but thought the restaurant needs to take more caution. Nut allergy is common. If you want to add peanut on the dish that originally doesn't include, let the customer know ahead.

Really loves food here. Have visited several times with family. You have to try their xiaolongbao and BBQ pork bun. Really enjoy! Also our server is really nice. Definitely coming back soon

Satisfied my craving of dim sum. No comments for the traditional dim sum dishes including har gow and siu mai. Baked bbq pork buns and steamed lava custard bun (had the perfect amount of runny custard) were yummy. I appreciate how the shrimp steam rice roll had shrimp in every bite and it wasn't just two shrimp in the rice roll like other places. Wonton shrimp was ok, didn't really stand out for me; indifferent about ordering it again. I'm usually a chicken feet girl, but previously tried the chicken feet in nyc and I wasn't a fan of that style so didn't reorder this time.

First round had the Wontons in Hot & Spicy Sauce which was alright, as well as the Steamed Rice with Minced Beef and Egg which I also thought was alright. Second round got the Pan Fried Noodles with BBQ Pork which I thought had great flavor but was a bit dry. Adding some chili sauce made it better. Then also tried the Baked BBQ Pork Buns which were really really good: soft, crispy, sweet, savory. Amazing! For dessert the Sweet Osmanthus Jelly was just not for me, but the Lava Custard Sesame Balls were increeeedible.

I was in Katy for a business trip and my friend brought me here for dinner. I had tried Tim Ho Wan before and felt it was just okay, but this visit was much better than I expected. The food tasted fresher, the service was friendly, and the overall experience felt more polished than before. The baked BBQ pork buns were definitely the highlight, and a few of the dim sum dishes we ordered were solid as well. I know the reviews here are a bit mixed, but based on my experience this time, I feel like they've improved a lot, I'd be happy to come back next time I'm in town.

Tim Ho Wan has Michelin star in HK, so we come here to try it out even though this location doesn't have any award. I would say this is the standard for dim sum, nothing extortionately. No fillers, no food coloring like many other places. Menu is smaller than expected, but they focus on quality than quantity.

Rachel J.

Just wow! The BBQ pork bun is a must-try. It's a HK-style pineapple bun filled with the most tender char siu. I'm definitely coming back just for that. I can see how the original THW got a Michelin star.

You just can't go wrong with this place either for delivery or dining in. Phenomenal. Everything is great. The steamed BBQ buns are addictive and a must for everyone. Top quality cooks, all fresh and never a doubt about enjoying the food when trying to think of somewhere to eat or order from. Never a worry about enjoying the food. Best Dim Sum in Katy.

Yasameen N.

Absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying--easily the best dim sum I've ever had. Some dishes were a bit salty, but that might just be the soy sauce and dim sum style in general. Still, the quality and taste really stood out. The service was friendly and quick, which made the experience even better. The ambiance was nice--clean and comfortable, though nothing fancy. I read that the original location in Hong Kong earned a Michelin star. I'm not sure this one quite hits that level, but it was definitely delicious and absolutely worth coming back for. Looking forward to trying more next time!

My Christmas wish? For Tim Ho Wan to open a location in The Woodlands! I swear my sister and I talk about this place weekly... how we're craving it, but it's just so far. So, we've tried literally every dim sum and dumpling place in The Woodlands area and even closer to town. No one comes close. This visit, we had our regular favs: Har Gao, Cheung Fun, Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf, plus others including the deep fried eggplant and shrimp and garlic broccolini. As always, pleasant moaning could be heard from our table as we devoured our feast. For dessert, we tried a wonderful sesame offering, which was crisping the outside and soft, chewy (like mochi) and slightly sweet inside. Delicious! Aside from a shrieking child, the dining room was pleasantly chill, and they always keep it very clean. We have already discussed our next visit, bringing other family members next time :)

Food: Pork/shrimp siu mai, steamed bean curd w/ shrimp, meat, and veggies, and the sticky rice in lotus leaf. We weren't too hungry, but I wanted to try this place. We got a few of our favorite dim sum dishes from their very limited dim sum menu. All were delicious and very flavorful. Service: Staff are super friendly and fast. Other: Came here for the first time. Portions were decent. Probably the best dim sum place that we've eaten at in Texas so far. We'll definitely be back if we're ever in the area again. It's pricer than other dim sum places, but quality is legit. Just wish they had more dim sum options. Their dim sum choices are limited and missing a lot of the classic dishes. Large parking lot.

This place fills up super easily so I would definitely recommend making a reservation. I came here with a couple of cousins and we ordered: the salt & pepper seafood which you can choose from squid, cod, shrimp or combination so we got the combo but they were out of squid that day, stir fried eggplant with green beans, braised beef brisket, stir fried intestines, and 1/2 of a peking duck. This all comes with complimentary white rice and the duck comes with complimentary stir fried duck bones. Everything was so delicious and the food came out very fast! I would recommend this restaurant and definitely plan on coming back soon!

However when i entered into their Katy location, several workers saw us and ignored us, despite having only 2 small tables filled on a Friday night. We had called ahead and made reservations for a large table of 12 so they put us in a private room w 2 round tables. But we sat at the larger one. We got notice that 2 of our attendees couldn't make it so we let them know and they said that because of this we couldn't sit inside this room and we would have to move outside (but we'd all started drinking and ordering at this point) - I asked why? There were no other ppl here and we all got settled in. The head person came and said we have to pay extra to stay in this room, if we chose to. I didn't understand why- again it's Friday 7pm and they are empty! So we moved tables outside the room to main dining. They said they couldn't put out tables together and we have to sit next to each other.... Needles to say, it was annoying. We ordered food and it was very slow despite no customers. Portions are super small, lacked traditional tastes that the previous restaurant had and way more expensive. For 10 people we spent around $600. I don't mind paying as long as the food is good. It was very Americanized, small portions and w horrible service, it was disappointing to say the least. We won't be going again!

My wife absolutely loves their house special rice cake--it's a must-order appetizer for us every time we visit. For this meal, we went all out (as we usually do) and ordered a variety of dishes: General Tso's chicken, orange beef, shrimp with candied walnuts, beef and chicken flat noodles, and a side of spicy green beans. We always end up ordering a bit more than we need, but that's part of the experience--everything tastes great, and the leftovers easily turn into additional meals later in the day. Tan Tan Wok consistently hits the spot with flavorful dishes and satisfying portions. It's a place we genuinely look forward to coming back to.
