Hooray, the legendary alternative coffee and donut chain from Canada has arrived here in Long Island. I love their donuts! The calories/sugar seem a bit better than the other coffee/donut chain I used to go to. I am assuming this location went with real maple syrup as the added sugar so in that case I love it. My wife is a Canadian ex-pat and when we saw Tim Horton's on Long Island I almost crashed the car. Don't let the location fool you, it is tucked inside a Gulf gas station but it is the real deal! The coffee is always fresh and tastes just as good any Tim's in Canada or Western NY. The doughnuts and pastries are very good as well. Canadian maple and glazed raspberry are my personal favorites. The new Nutella items are very good as well. Depending on the time that you go, the pastries may not be as fresh. I find that is the only major difference between this Tim's and the ones in Canada. Loyal Dunkin Donuts patron converted upon first visit; yes that shall be the title for this review. Nevermind that the place is small and it's located within a Gulf station convenience store. The employees were friendly and got my order ready at lightning speed. The cruller was good and flaky and slightly less sweet than the frosted DD version. I actually like this one much better. I really really really want to love this place, because the service here is great. There's just one issue: they don't know how to make Ice Caps . I tried this location a couple of years ago, ended up with a really bland drink. The person there stated that there was no french vanilla available so I opted for the ice cap instead. Once I got to my car I realized that the taste was not even close to the one you get in Canada.
