I cannot recommend a place that is intentionally deceptive with customers. I went in on a whim and ordered a few pastries to go; a pork, potato, and cheese empanada and a pepperoni roll (how they were labeled in the case). My husband orders a cappuccino and I paid. I overhear him ask for milk, and they inform him they are all vegan. There wasn't a single sign inside or outside that informed us that we were ordering vegan substitutes. It is unthinkable that a place that purports to be vegan would sell their products without disclosing they are made with alternatives. They had frittata, egg and sausage sandwich, quiche with scallion & bacon, and pork and cheese empanadas; nowhere was there any notice that the food was meatless or dairy/egg free. What about those among us that have nut and soy allergies? This is deceptive and I believe intentionally misleading. I went back to the counter and asked why it wasn't listed anywhere, and they pulled a bakery box from the back and in small print it said; plant based bakery. That box wasn't anywhere else for a customer to see or observe. The staff member was rather rude and nearly insisted I should have known it was a vegan bakery. Yet it's not mentioned anywhere on their signage including the sign on the street, the menu, or food labels. I don't have anything against vegan restaurants. I have raved about vegan restaurants (check my reviews), so I am not anti-vegan. I am against mislabeling foods which could have devastating consequences and seemingly intentional in the omission that cheese or bacon are not in fact cheese or bacon. For the record, I returned the uneaten food, as I have no idea what it was or what was in it. I was too upset to take pictures. But went back through the cafe and there was no mention anywhere outside, on the menu, or on the food case that this was a vegan bakery. I don't eat food when I can't trust the ingredients or intensions of those preparing the food. Truth in advertising is a cornerstone of good business. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone, in particular my vegan/vegetarian friends because they also want to know what they are eating! Pure and simple, people have a right to know what is in their food. Still fuming at the arrogance of this business and their staff. Just be honest- I would have been happy to try something. Instead, I'll now go out of my way to ensure everyone I know knows this is a dishonest business to be avoided at all costs. read more

It only gives the options of 15%, 18%, 20%, or no tip. When asked if there's a custom, a firm "nope". If I ordered things togo and it's $50 worth, I don't think it's worth a $7.50 tip to pack. I've been coming here for years, from when they had half the space and I've always been happy. Sometimes I'd make a 1.5 hour drive for their bunch. I've always been happy. But this time was not a great experience. The crossaints were not labeled so I asked what they were and they person just gestured vaguely towards the case and said "whatever you see". I still bought $50 worth and tipped. Got home and saw this. One regular sized almond crossaint and one tiny one. I've never seen one this small before. Prices are pretty standard as far as trendy coffee places go, $6 for a latte before tax or tip. But the only size they have is tiny (see picture). I'd be more than happy to pay an extra $1.50 for a larger size, but now I'm just going to have to get more coffee in 2 hours. No sweetener in any of their drinks, and they're pretentious enough to stigmatize sweetener by putting radiation symbols on the sugar jar. I like my coffee a little sweet, what's the problem? Staff was rude and the line that has to lead out of the smaller hidden entrance was confusing and seemed unnecessary. They have no dairy options, which is fine but it would be nice to know it's a vegan coffee shop up front. The slice of birthday cake we had was actually pretty good though. I'll start my review by saying it pains me to see one star reviews for Timeless simply because they don't have half and half or dairy milk. It's a vegan spot! That's like looking for steak at a vegetarian restaurant and leaving a negative review smh. Okay now that I've got that off my chest I will say that for anyone trying to go vegan or looking for a place to ease your pain in the process of adjusting, this is the place for you. From their fluffy scones, sweet donuts and amazing breakfast/brunch choices it's sometimes hard to believe this is a vegan menu. The interior is cozy and great to work or spend some time on a lazy morning. Timeless makes me so happy, having alternative milks as the standard is so nice for someone like me who is used to paying no less than .75 extra. Best time to go is weekend mornings. It's pretty crowded but there's more food options. Doughnuts are pretty doughy. Soft serve is amazing (but rare depending on the season), and only available during the weekend. Pizza roll is good, but sometimes there isn't enough filling. Ham and Cheese croissants taste pretty real, but pretty oily. Some things I wouldn't recommend: breakfast roll (too salty and cream cheese is bad), morning bun The service there is slow and sometimes lazy. And their food is way overpriced. Nonvegan bakeries and other bakeries are half the price. If it wasn't the only vegan place around, I probably wouldn't go again. I also hate how dogs are allowed in the restaurant Bc it's so unsanitary. Outside is fine, but inside is already crowded enough and people bringing their dogs inside is just the worse. I can't even get through the front door! One time I was carrying my donut on a plate and the squeeze was so tight I was forced to walk past this person carrying their dog and the dog almost LICKED my donut. DISGUSTING. Have been coming here for a few years, surprised I haven't written a review before this. Really cute, funky coffee and pastry shop along Piedmont Avenue. Have tried a bunch of their cakes, donuts and pastries, but most recently enjoyed an iced tea, a raspberry glazed donut and a pesto roll. The tea was really interesting and seemed to have some sort of vanilla flavor? Either way, it was delish! The pesto roll was so squishy and so full of pesto cheesy goodness - the dough was so delicious. I could honestly eat one of those every single day, and look forward to trying the pizza roll next time! I was tempted to get a piece of cake, but didn't do it on my last visit - but I've had their key lime pie which is amazing, and hope to try some others! My teenage daughter has been raving about Timeless so I stopped in this morning to try it out. She warned me that it was 'vegan' in that they don't offer cow milk for coffees. I've been wanting to check out this coffee shop for awhile and I finally got a chance this morning. Parking was ample since it's a weekday morning. The shop cute and clean, with seating inside and in front. There are lots of yummy goodies to sample, both sweet and savory. I believe all the food is Vegan, with a few gluten free options. I tried the peppermint patty which was delicious. I also got the moon pie which was huge! The chocolate coating was good but I wished there was a little more filling to offset the big cookies. My iced latte was really good too, a bit strong with no acidic bite. I wish I got the bigger size cup! This place gets packed on the weekends, just an fyi. As a busy medical student, having brunch out before 10am is great. My partner and I ordered several items: a pumpkin cinnamon roll, a waffle with a side of bacon, a butter croissant, the English muffin sandwich and a cappuccino. The pastries are 20/10, so delicious! I wish I lived closer or that they had a shop in San Jose. I do wish they offered some sort of mobile or kiosk ordering on site. In my experience the staff at the Berkeley location and Oakland Webster can be a little rude. Also, the pizza roll is best heated which it seems they can't do at the store. There is always a huge range of pastries and desserts (cakes, pies, donuts, tarts, muffins, scones, cookies) that are COMPLETELY VEGAN. No need to second guess ingredients or wonder if they used butter or eggs. Actually everything here is completely vegan, they don't carry any animal based milks. They use OATly oat milk which is my fav! An important note is they do not have wifi here. There is also indoor and outdoor seating but it can get kinda crampy/loud inside when it's busy. Timeless is the best! I'm not a coffee drinker, but I swing by couple of times a week just for the donuts and pastries. They are amazing. I'm shocked that they are vegan. The donuts are light and fluffy. The pastries are flaky and filled with all sorts of deliciousness. These are better than most of the non-vegan varieties I've had. I've only come here twice and both times only to get the same thing: the gluten-free Carrot Walnut Tea Cake. I was amazed to find that EVERYTHING here is vegan (they don't advertise that really), though they only have a couple of items that are gluten-free (aside from their chocolates). The first time I came, they only had the tea cake and were out of everything else gluten-free, and the second time I came, there was a gluten-free quiche but I wasn't hungry enough for a whole quiche, so I got the tea cake again. The tea cake is delicious and you wouldn't really know it was vegan and gluten-free unless someone told you (at least, I don't think so). Great texture and not at all dry or crumbly. Speedy checkout and there are a fair number of tables to sit at, but most of them were occupied when I was there both times. I used to love this place and I've spent lots of money here (this was a place I made sure to support during lockdown), especially on their croissants. I was happy to support a vegan establishment, even if it meant a good dent in my wallet, but when I learned that they use palm oil in most of their baked goods I was heartbroken and knew I had to end things. Timeless, please please, for the sake of the animals (humans included) and environment harmed in its production, consider palm oil alternatives. My housemate is vegan & owns a Timeless sweater that was a reminder to get down here to give it a try. My first association w/ Piedmont is by way of yoga teacher Rodney Yee who taught yoga in this neighborhood for many years before getting married to Colleen Saidman. Yee & Saidman relocated east to Sag Harbor, NY. It was in their yoga workshop years ago in Boulder, CO that I did my first drop back from standing. Who knew that many moons later in Piedmont I would discover Timeless & is in my opinion the most amazing coffeehouse ever that just happens to be vegan. Timeless is a vegan coffeehouse located in the Piedmont neighborhood of Oakland that has superb hot drinks along w/ exquisite vegan baked goods. Usually being vegan going to a typical non-vegetarian restaurant there will always be one or two items that are vegan so makes decisions easy. The opposite is true at vegan restaurants where you have too many options. I started w/ the Broccoli Cheddar Quiche w/ Daiya Cheese for $6. It was packed w/ flavor & they used tofu as the base along w/ plenty of broccoli topped w/ Cheddar Daiya Cheese. It hit the spot & had a nice flakey crust. I paired it w/ a Rooibos Latte for $4.50. This was one of the best Lattes I've ever had. I am a big fan of Rooibos yet made into a Latte the drink was amazingly creamy & awesome. There were many vegan baked goods that all looked great as there was so much variety yet settled on the Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Slice for $4.75. It was quite heavenly & really hit the spot. The one caveat is there is limited seating. Saying that Timeless is popular is an understatement yet was lucky to found a seat. I assume w/ a little patience & luck you will find seating as well. Look, this place is great. They've good some excellent desserts, all made in house, the decor is great, they allow pets (prolly not my rats tho), and in general the staff is friendly. ...But. I'm kinda taken aback by their policy to not let customers plug in their devices to charge. I was sitting right next to an outlet that had a note saying "Please do not remove", referring to the plastic inserts preventing you from plugging something in. I flat out asked a passing staff member (tall, thin, dark hair, female) if I could use the outlet, directing her attention to it. She looked at me and said, "We don't have outlets". I just looked at her, waiting for the punch line. She looked back at the covered outlet and said "Yah we don't have outlets available...", I interrupted, "...to use". She was struggling to complete the statement, I imagine because she's aware it's an unusual thing to do. I get it, it's a popular venue, electricity costs money, they don't want people sitting around all day using it. Directly to my right are three students, each with a laptop, each with a coffee sitting in front of them. Each with notebooks or textbooks out. Their laptops wont last for more than two hours. They'll likely move on so they can keep studying. I'll move on soon too because my iPad is losing juice and I have a full day out I need this thing to last for. Am I saying I won't be coming back, or that they're losing customers because of this policy? Not necessarily. They're pretty busy today. I suspect they know what they're doing. But it will make me consider other options next time I'm out and about. Perch may not be as good a coffee shop but hey, they got WiFi and they got outlets. The pizza roll was great. Timeless Coffee - Bakeries Near Me - Oakland, California

Very frustrated with timeless, again. I ordered a whole carrot cake online, paid and made it ready for pickup a week later for a party as per the birthday persons request. I show up at my pick up time and the staff could not find my order in the system, and told me no cake was waiting for me. When they finally found my order in the system- they told me timeless stopped carrying carrot cakes a few months back. They told me "someone should have called you." Why was I able to purchase it on their website?? Why was I not notified? This was for a specific event and if I knew earlier I could have gone somewhere else. But here I am, two hours before the event and timeless screwed me. They they offered me a few other flavors of cakes they had in the store, and when I made my choice (after calling and confirming with the birthday people) they told me they were actually out of whole cakes in that flavor (wtf?) and as were all the other timeless cafes. The staff were kind and trying their hardest. But unfortunately I left with a $50 cake I didn't really want and that the birthday person likely won't like but I was forced to as the event is in a few hours. Ugh.
