LOVED the food but disappointed with one of their policies. Party of 13! Everyone's food was delicious! Our server, Hunter, was awesome considering the circumstances. We were seated in a back room I'm sure it was due to the size of the party. The room was very dark with no type of ambiance. My disappointment is because before booking any restaurant I always make sure we're able to get separate checks because I know some restaurants won't do so due to the party size-which is understandable but what happened here was that I was given multiple different responses. I booked the reservation in person and confirmed we would get separate checks. I had 2 friends with me and they can confirm this was said. I called to confirm the reservation and reconfirmed again, with a manager, that we'd get separate checks. I arrive today only to be told by the, GM, that there would be no separate checks then told we could do up to 4 separate checks-so we agreed. But then that changed to 4 checks with equal payment on all credit cards. Meaning no matter what you consumed your credit card is charged the same. I was so frustrated with all the changes. What made it worse the GM would not make an exception to not have everyone pay the same out. My friends suggested we leave and had already called 2 nearby establishment who were agreeing to provide us with separate checks but being that I'm a kind person I suggested we stay. I kept hoping the GM would change his mind but he, nor any other manager, even checked on our table-another disappointment. We are a worldwide community friendship group consisting of over a million members. We patronage different establishments everywhere and pass on information. This is an establishment that as a group we will NOT return. As the host I was extremely embarrassed. I came here for dinner and the food was amazing the ambiance was very nice and a bit dim and they had a bar in the center so if you wanted to sit at the bar you could do so. And the food was so delicious and fresh we had the mussels and chicken Marsala and the bucatini bolognese. I met a couple friends for Happy Hour at Timpano. We Dat at the bar and received excellent service. I ordered a Margarita and it was well blended. I ordered the rigatoni on Happy Hour and it was a very big portion. I did not finish it. It was too much. I probably should have taken the rest home but too late now. The flavor of the sauce was delicious. My friends ordered the Cavatelli pasta. They enjoyed theirs as well. The seating is comfortable. The only complaint I have is the music was very, very loud. They were not that busy when we were there. Besides that the music was similar to pop music from the 80's. It just did not fit the theme of the restaurant. The family sauce tastes like a true award winner! The cocktails are freshly made with exceptional mixologists. I suggest the cucumber spritz with Grey Goose. Yum! The restaurant is just gorgeous. That's what made my choice for dinner there last night. Dinner was to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday. The drinks, apps and salads were fine. However, all four meals were terrible. The Lasagna was burnt on the bottom and extremely dry. The chicken Marsala was horrible. It tasted like it had maple syrup on it. The pork chop was dry, overcooked and un edible. The birthday girl had pasta that was so salty she didn't eat it. Was looking for somewhere to celebrate my birthday and I remembered seeing this restaurant a lot on Instagram. The reviews looked amazing so I decided to give it a try. Just an fyi to get nearby parking you're going to have to spend $ (it's on Las Olas). Upon arrival, we realized it was dimly lit which gave the perfect vibe for an intimate dinner. The service here is top notch, the servers are fully dressed and make you feel like royalty--you pay for what you get here! For our appetizer we got the Caprese which came with crackers. My main entree was the Mafaldine Cacio o Pepe with crispy chicken (they also offer grilled) and my partner got the Branzino. Both dishes tasted natural and juicy, nothing artificial or oily. I got the Passionfruit Margarita, while my partner ordered the Chili Margarita. We each split half because they were equally tasteful. I thought it was cool the way the dessert menu was presented to us. It came out with smoke in a container (as seen in photo) and "tarot cards" as the options. This was very unique indeed. We opted with the Bombolini which reminded me a lot of Malasadas from Hawaii. Perfect touch of sweetness without being overbearing. Overall, I'd definitely return for another special occasion. We went here to celebrate my birthday. The decor was nice. The service was friendly. The food was good. We started with the grilled octopus, which was a bit on the tough side. Then my husband had the lasagna, which he said was very good, especially the sauce. I had the spaghetti al limon, which was good but I thought there would be more crab meat than there was. Our daughter had the filet mignon, which she said was cooked a perfect medium rare; note it is just the meat, and if you want a side, you have to order that separately. Timpano is located in downtown Ft. Lauderdale on Las Olas. We recently visited to celebrate my mom's birthday. My husband and I have never been here before but my parents have so I knew it would be good. We made a reservation just in case but they also take walk ups. It is a nicer restaurant so I would suggest dressing nicer. I am not sure if there is a dress code, but who doesn't love to dress up. Inside is very dark, with dark prints, beautiful murals painted on the wall, very comfy seats and booths around the edges. It was very classy and I loved the vibes. Outside they also had seating with gorgeous pink flowers. We went early so we could enjoy their happy hour before our reservation. Their happy hour which they call golden hour, is at the bar only but there are lots of seats at the bar. They had a smaller menu with 11 food items and a few cocktails or wine. Our bartender was very friendly and checked on us a few times. We ended up ordering Arancini alla Siciliana: crispy saffron rice, mozzarella, meat ragu and the Semolina-Dusted Calamari: cherry peppers, family red sauce, citrus aioli. These were so delicious, if I lived in Ft. Lauderdale I would be here frequently just to order these! The only issue I had with the calamari was there were a lot of tentacles. I am not a huge fan of the bodies and tentacles, I prefer when they are more ring like, but they were still very very good! For drinks, I started with Espresso Martini which has Stoli vanilla vodka, Kahlua, and Baileys. Very good and classic espresso martini. I also ordered the Passion Margarita which has Sauza reposado tequila, passion fruit, grand marnier, and lime. I really enjoyed this one, it had a bit of spice but the tajin rim really helped balance it out. My husband ordered classic cocktails, a dirty martini and then a Manhattan. He enjoyed both of them. My mom ordered prosecco and my sister ordered a vodka and lime. Dad ordered a crispy DC since he was the driver. All of our drinks were really good, for a happy hour, they were pretty strong as well. Once we got seated we did start by sharing the Caesar Salad which was romaine hearts, parmesan, and herb croutons. This was a classic Caesar, very good. It was also very very large, all 5 of us actually had a little bit of the salad. I'm sure it's designed for one or maybe 2 to share, but since we had apps at the bar, we did not want to be too full so we all shared. It was a perfect size! We also ordered the House made Focaccia which had extra virgin oil, and balsamic to dip in. This was fantastic! I really enjoyed this! It was salty, seasoned, crunchy but soft and just really good! For entrees myself and my dad ordered the NY strip. They serve their steaks with a really nice seasoned crust. It was delicious and just a very great steak. It was also cooked perfectly. My only note would be I wish they had some sauce. I love a classic bearnaise with my steak and I would have enjoyed dipping the steak in the sauce. They do not have any sauces for the steak. MY husband ordered the Italian Sausage Cavatelli which had rapini, garlic, pecorino, and crushed red pepper. My sister ordered their special which was basically a shrimp scampi but with jumbo prawns. And my mom ordered the Spaghetti al Limone which had lump crab, basil, and parsley. This is her favorite dish here. All three of the pasta dishes were fantastic. All of them very tasty, very good and very delicious. We also ordered a side of the sauteed mushrooms to all share. Overall this is a fantastic restaurant. Overall, food was decent but service was lacking. Took 5 mins to be greeted at the bar and given a menu. It felt rushed, and the service staff appeared to be upset about something. Lots of swearing happening behind the bar. I don't really care about what the staff says to each other but it seemed to bleed into the service a bit. At no point was the service proactive, I basically had to flag the server down for everything. Chicken parm was pretty good, just slightly overdone and the Caesar salad was delicious but the plate was warm when it was dished because the bottom layer of lettuce was wilted. The way they're served is perfect for sharing, and the flavors are incredible. For my main, I had the steak and eggs, but unfortunately, the steak was overcooked, which was a bit disappointing. However, what really stood out to me was how swiftly and professionally the issue was addressed and corrected. This kind of attentive service makes all the difference. While it's impossible to get everything perfect all the time, it's how a restaurant handles these situations that really sets it apart and this place certainly excels in that regard. Let me start by saying this place is not bad. It's just... aggressively fine. The steak arrived cooked, warm, and undeniably steak-shaped. Flavor-wise, it landed squarely in the "Yep, that's steak" category. Not bad, not memorable--if this steak were a personality trait, it would be "reliable coworker who doesn't steal your lunch but also doesn't get invited to happy hour." Service was... present. Our server appeared when summoned (eventually), delivered food successfully, and did not insult us, which in today's economy feels like a win. That said, the vibe was less hospitality and more mutual agreement that we were all there to get through the evening together. The atmosphere tries very hard, and I respect the effort. It's the kind of place where you expect the food to whisper "wow" but instead it softly clears its throat and says, "hello." Would I come back? Went for a date night. This place has lots of seating inside and good size bar. The bar was a bit too loud for us on Saturday night so we opted for a table. It was nice and quiet and intimate. We had an amazing server Chris who made the night entertaining and rememberable. The Som Jeffery was very knowledgeable and helpful he selected the perfect wine for us which we enjoyed a lot. The manager was also very friendly and came by to check on us and made sure everything was good. Went here for dinner and had an amazing time! This spot is located in the heart of Las Olas. The menu looks limited but they have just the right amount of options. We had about two drinks each and they were really good. Even though we missed happy hour, the drinks were still reasonably priced. We tried a wide variety of food but my favorite was the pasta experience which can feed 2-3 people and the branzino was cooked to perfection. Customer service was top tier. The waitress explained the menu options and specials so vividly. There are no crumbs allowed on the tables LOL, they do a great job at wiping the table down between each course to ensure the table is clean while you are eating. Please take a moment to take in the beautiful interior design of this place. It's literally decorated so nice. Major aesthetics for great pictures. There is valet parking right next to the restaurant which is convenient. Timpano sits between two cigar bars and the other location is in Tampa. The service was absolutely wonderful from Madison who was very gracious and very welcoming throughout the evening. Thank you for being a fabulous hostess. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy my pasta dish at all as it was overwhelming salty. The pasta was too al dente and not fully cooked. I have added a picture which is a bit fuzzy. I did enjoy the mocktails and had a Ginger drink which was so refreshing. The truffle arancini had a creamy texture and was cheesy too The calamari is best shared, and the peppers are just as good as the calamari itself The meatballs and focaccia were perfection, paired alongside the spicy rigatoni and fresh sweet tomatoes If you're curious about the Parm to table experience, it has housemaid bucatini pasta alongside pesto And tossed in a Parmesan wheel right at your table this could comfortably feed 3 people but this does not come with a protein. Timpano will put on a show for your birthday with one of their many desserts like the Bomboloni, which has a strong cannoli and pistachio flavor and is also great to share. Back to Timpano for Valentines. The big draw for us has been the happy hour which is among the best. The roasted mussels here are a treat. With new dietary restrictions for myself, I was forced into new parts of the menu. No issues at all. This time we stayed for 3.5 hours. It was very pleasant. The place was packed, but they did not hurry up service to turn the table. Service was outstanding. This was not expected based on prior visits and the modest price point. David controlled our table service and it was 1st class. Due to new restrictions for Gout and Kidney stones, I ordered the Chicken Marasala while drooling over my former favorites. My wife had her favorites. I really enjoyed the version of Chicken Marsala here. Very different, great flavor, nice portion. Even though there was no room for desert, we got the bobalinos ( not sure about spelling). Fun presentation and delicious. Overall, a great visit We first discovered Timpano in Tampa and have beens fans for 15 years. Look forward to another visit. Thank you Timpano for a memorable evening. read more
