Bad service. We were not greeted by a waitress for about 15 min after being seated. The margarita was great however the beer was hot. The best service was the guy that kept bringing us salsa. I ordered a chicken chimichanga and when our food came out I quickly noticed my burrito was not crispy on the outside like normal. I cut into it and the chicken was very pink & smoochy. I waved the waitress over and asked if they can cook it a little longer. She took my plate and went into the kitchen, the bar area and on the way throughout the restaurant runs into who I believe to be a manager. They point to my table & discuss my plate for a few minutes. Then the manager takes my plate and approaches my table & says "do you want something else" with a very confrontational tone. I respond "why?" He then says "because all of the chicken is going to look like this, we cook it in tomato sauce. Did you try it?" Quickly remembering previous orders not looking like this. I declined to try it. All I wanted was my food to be cooked a little longer. Not sure why this request was such an odd one. I felt very uncomfortable as the manager was extremely rude and condescending. With that response we decided to pay & leave. We will not be going back. I've been eating here for a a couple of years. I could probably do a better job of rating restaurants when they do a great job. Most of my experiences at Tio Carlos have been good and positive. However I eat here at least twice a week. And the last three visits have been extremely disappointing. From inattentive waitstaff, to wait staff not listening when ordering, mistakes when the food comes to the table. The service here is really in Decline. It doesn't help that tonight even though they're posted hours are until 10 p.m. we were asked to leave early because they wanted to close early. They wanted to do this because we were the only customers left. There were still people wrapping silverware and doing their side work. Yet the front of the house manager when questioned didn't seem to think that our business was worth waiting an extra 10 minutes for. I'm seriously considering not returning to this restaurant. read more

Okay! Coming in to this place based on prior reviews said the brisket was awesome so why not start with the brisket queso right! Hands down the best advice I have received in my life. It is on point and delicious. Our servers name was Matias (hope I got it right brother) and he was awesome and very welcoming. Every question we had he had the answer. He knew the menu inside out and my fiancé wanted a little of everything and he gave us all the right suggestions. Hands down the best service in Irving and I know I will be returning cause of this guy. Okay.....I stopped writing to eat the entrée and they were phenomenal. I got the brisket burrito with two eggs on it and this decision was cause the brisket had such good flavor in the queso I had to go for broke. My fiancé got an enchilada plate and it looked great. She is one of those people that always orders enchiladas at all new places we try cause in her mind if a Mexican restaurant messes up on enchiladas then something is wrong. She was not talking so it must be good. I tried a piece of each enchilada and they all had good flavor. For the past two years we've spent the first college football Saturday of the year in this gem of a location prior to heading to AT&T stadium to watch Bama start to roll. From the accommodating staff (they adjusted the TVs so we saw all games and even gave us the sound), to the delicious food (that chicken, though!) to the margaritas ... this is a hidden gem that I'll visit every time I'm in the area.
