We ordered the vegetarian and shredded chicken Banh Mi. Really happy they had a vegetarian option. The bread to filling ratio was spot on and the bread was nice and crunchy on the outside. Initially thought the chicken looked dry but it was actually pretty juicy, slight kick to the flavor but not spicy. The vegetarian had 2 types of vegetarian meat in it. It was very good. Tired of the rain and being cooped up at home, I decided to walk to Bánh Mì Mỹ Tho for some banh mis and Vietnamese coffee as soon as the rain stopped. This is my first time at this location, even though it's the closest one to me. It's quite different from the other locations; it's in the former Wienerschnitzel building, a converted walk-up. I was craving some Viet coffee and wanted to support a local business, so I checked out Bánh Mì Mỹ Tho #3 in Rosemead. I ordered three #2 Grilled Pork Banh Mis ($7.50 each), one #1 Special Banh Mi ($7.50), a Meatball Skewer ($3.64), four Pork Egg Rolls ($1.13 each), and a large Vietnamese Coffee with Condensed Milk ($5.01). I enjoyed chatting with Vincent, the owner's nephew, while waiting for my food. He was very friendly. Everything was great! We especially liked the #2 Grilled Pork Banh Mi and the #1 Special Banh Mi. Our son loved the Pork Egg Rolls. My wife thought the Vietnamese Coffee was a bit too sweet, but I enjoyed it. Banh Mi My Tho, is a small stand located on the corner of Garvry Ave and Dequine St, just right before the traffic light. There are multiple locations it seems this one is on the go, as there is no where to sit. Like many have mentioned the lost is tiny (about 5 spots) so if it's busy, you might need to park along Dequine Ave. Simple menu of different Banh Mi, appetizers, a couple of plate dishes, and rolls. I ordered two large Vietnamese coffees, a Grilled Pork Banh Mi, and one of their pandan cakes. The coffees were great, nothing fancy simple and strong as expected. The Grilled Pork Banh Mi was delicious, nicely pickled carrots and raddish, fresh spice from the jalapeño, and savory lemon grass marinated pork I especially appreciated the baguette was still crusty and crispy but plessantly soft too. Some banh mi baguettes can be too hard, but this was not the case. The pandan cake was delicious as well, nice chew lightly sweetened with coconut flavor. I looked it up and it's a pandan honeycomb cake called banh bo nuong. I went on a Sunday morning so not busy at all, but people were coming up and ordering. You can also order ahead of time to save time. It only took about 5ish minute after we placed the order so not long at all. Banh Mi My Tho's 3rd location! I've been to the other locations, but I didn't know that this location would be a literal hut. It's definitely an old Weinersnitchel converted. This means, you have to walk up to the window and order. There is no drive through but a few parking spaces in the back. There is no ambiance as there are a couple tables on the side walk area. However, service is good and the food is decent. I do think that the food at this location tastes slightly different from the other 2 locations. I personally prefer one of the other locations. The food seems a little more fresh. This location seemed a little pre-made for maybe faster service. Also, the Vietnamese iced coffee at this location tasted a little funny. Lastly, the eggrolls were tiny and was a little sad. It was missing the crunch I wanted and was gone in 2 bites. I give this location 3.5 stars. I can't believe how many times I've driven by this place and didn't know what I was missing out on!!! I recently heard about Banh Mi My Tho from family friends and finally stopped by on Thursday at 11:30 am. Parked in the small lot behind the building and went up to the window and was quickly and warmly greeted! (I always appreciate a smile and kind people at any place that I go to!) I ordered the grilled pork banh mi sandwich (#2 on the menu) and a Diet Coke and I was shocked that the total for the entire meal was under $10! What?? How is that possible??! The banh mi was only $7.50! After I ordered, I turned around and there were about 5 people behind me. I think you need to go early to beat the lunch crowd! Well, I waited about 5-7 minutes for my meal and the anticipation was excruciating. I drove home and when I unwrapped the sandwich, I think I heard angels sing. Hahaha! This kind of business used to be more common in Los Angeles. It's a great mom and pop place that makes great food without overcharging for it. It is cash only, the parking lot is packed, so bring money and your appetite. The bread is a crispy French roll so don't look for Wonderbread here. I was in town for a doctor's appointment, wanted to go to the original Store off Valley but was afraid it would be hard to find parking and it was raining hard and I was without an umbrella , passed by this location thought I would give it a try. Got the #1 special Bahn Mi, honestly it was completely underwhelming, I used to get #1 from the original store years ago, it was so delicious and the sandwich was packed with meats, you can tastes the garlic butter and the pate with every bit . But this one I got today I can't taste any of it, probably just few slices ham and one bit of the grilled meat there is no flavor it's just baguette and the taste of the pickled daikon... Such a disappointment, not sure if because this location just wasn't good or their quality went down across all the locations ... next time in town I will give the original store a try, but this one nah I don't recommend. The service was amazing and the employee who took my order was extremely friendly and patient. I appreciate that they include thit nuong in the dac biet. The bread had a nice, flaky texture on the outside, though the one I had was slightly stale on the inside. I would have preferred if the pickled vegetables had a bit more acidity and salt. However, I'm a big fan of how thinly they cut the pickled vegies. For my Bay Area folks for comparison, I slightly prefer Duc Huong because the bread is always thin but still chewy, but this place easily surpasses other South Bay options. Their roast pork Vietnamese sandwich (#2) is what I order most often: the pork is roasted very fragrant, the marinated vegetables are fresh, the French bread is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the overall taste is very balanced. The portion is just right, and I am just full after eating it. Once we were able to order, we ended up getting: Shrimp & Pork Summer Rolls, $4.56 prior to tax- We ended up ordering 2 sets of these (so that we both didn't have to share). Each order comes with 2 rolls and a side of peanut fish sauce. I liked my spring rolls and so did my husband. The price is fair for an order of 2. Vermicelli Rice Noodle, $6.39 prior to tax- For this portion, the price is actually pretty good. This came with a good amount of pork and a fair share amount of noodles for one person (you could have also picked rice instead of noodle, without an additional charge). My husband enjoyed this meal and would order this again. ----------------------------------- (Total= $17 after tax) Wait time was about 15 minutes. The employee who took our order was very nice and friendly. He also was quick about getting me a cup of water for our dog when we first placed our order. I've been eating Banh Mi first the last couple weeks. This place has been on my list for a while. The banh mi was I would say decent. I got the special. The meat, pate, vegetables seemed fresh, though they didnt really fill it out. I could tell it was good quality ingredients, but the bread unfortunately was a bit unremarkable. A westsider foodie originally told me about how great the bahn mi was there at the Valley mini mall location...but now there's a branch practically in my backyard!! It's an A rating. They post the allergy notice, as they put peanuts in the Bahn mi. Prices reasonable. Best thing was service, it was great. Kevin, the cousin of the owner, was welcoming and friendly...and helpful! 5/5 Truly a family bixness. I love supporting mom-n-pop places.
