After a poor experience at the nail salon in downtown Northbrook, I decided to come here, based on other people's reviews. I didn't have an appointment but was taken on a thursday night right away. The woman was ready to take me right away, and sat me down in front of a huge tv playing the Phantom of the Opera. Strange choice, but since I adore musicals it was not a problem. Another woman came by and offered me green or citrus tea! I opted for green and sat there, relaxing, for a while. They also gave me a buy ten, get one free card, which I think I'll be using, based on the expense and quality of the other nail salons in the area. I love this place. They do a wonderful job on pedicures. It is very clean and pretty inside and the owner and staff are very friendly. However I've been a bit disappointed this summer. I went there twice and walked out right away. It was so hot in there. The first time they had the doors open and no air conditioning on. Today I went again and saw the doors closed as I approached so thought that was a good sign. As soon as I opened the door it was so hot and stuffy in there. I left both times and went to another nail salon. I think they might have just lost my business. I know running ac is expensive but clients want a nice relaxing pampering experience. I have been going to tips to toes for 5 months now. Prior to going here I was worried about getting no chip manicures because I was scared it would ruin my nails because I have heard so many horror stories. However, not only have my nails not gotten damaged, but they are thicker than ever! I am so excited that I have had such a great experience. The no chip manicures literally will not chip. They last me a minimum of 3 weeks, and the only reason I get another no chip is because there is so much new growth....the manicure otherwise still looks flawless. After the good reviews that this place has received I thought I would give it a try. I went there in the morning shortly after they had opened because I wanted to get my nails done before work as I had no other free time to do it. I walked in and everyone looked at me but no one said anything to me. Finally someone pointed to a chair and I said over there and she was like no over there to the counter at the other end of the place. I walked up and told the receptionist what I wanted and she said we have no time for you. I asked what do you mean yo9u have no time since about 2/3 of the employees were not doing anything. The lady said that it takes an hour to do a gel fill and everyone who can do it has an appointment booked you can come back at 5 and handed me a card to write my name on. I got a manicure this past Saturday (like 2 days ago) they never cut the cuticles something I requested she made it look like she did and my cuticles were bad and still are bad. I love this place. I'll be honest, the quality of the job is not as great as the more luxurious places but this place is far better (and cleaner!) than any other nail salon in their price range (and I have been to a lot). First, the decor is a bit better than the typical hole in the wall nail place and they always have a movie playing on their flat screen tv. Most of the time they offer to bring you hot tea or hot shoulder pillow but sometimes you have to ask. The waiting area has a big bowl of snickers and twix candy. I've never been dissapointed with a mani or pedi there but the best massage is given by Monica. Their prices are $14 for a mani and $30 for a pedi or $39 for both. They also give a punch card which earns you a free mani after 10 visits. They use Essie and Opi polish. read more

I really enjoy coming to the salon. I usually would just get Pedicures and mention that I never get a manicure because they don't last for me - no chip was the same way. The owner suggested dip manicure and I have never stopped. They do a really good job - have many color options and my nails are strong, they grow, and I can go 3 weeks before needing to updated. Honestly I could go probably 4 weeks but I end up struggling to type after 3 weeks. :-). I have never found the place dirty or not clean, the staff is really friendly. read more

Honestly super nice. I got a no chip manicure and they gave me a back massage and went above and beyond what I expected. Not too expensive but definitely worth the price. They have a card that'll give you $10-$20 off depending on your visits, and the overall space is nicely decorated and clean. I can start by saying that this place has treated me well the few times I've been here. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is friendly and attentive, they even give you tea sometimes. I would strongly discourage anyone from wasting their money at this establishment. Although they were cheap the service was horrible. My friend and I arrived to have pedicures together. The point was to sit together. While we were soaking our feet, one of our nail tech's filled a tub with too much water causing short in the electrical wiring. This caused the massage chairs and tub jets not to work. They did not exfoliate the heels of my feet, put on the wrong color on my toes (how complicated can it be when I handed her the colors for my french manicure?). Finally, we both had french manicures done to our toes and I got charged $5.00 more than my girlfriend. They have no clue what they are doing and hide behind a language barrier. I have been to this salon many times throughout the years. Several years ago I loved this place and was a regular. I have since moved but will go back in when I'm in town. I was there yesterday for a mani/pedi and the place was empty, which was fine with me as I got right in. The pedicure was just ok, hardly any massage but that's ok. My real problem was with the manicure. Right before she was about to polish my nails I realized she hadn't even trimmed my cuticles and I had to ask her to do it. Of course by that time the cuticles were dry and difficult to trim. She seemed annoyed that I even asked her to do it. Anyway, now just one day later, not even 24 hours, several of my nails have already chipped. I am so disappointed in the quality of work this place offers now. They used to be so good. Don't think I will be returning. I went in for a mani pedi and walked out disappointed. First they have you walk in at the back of the store so you have to walk through everything to get to the front counter. Before you even sit they ask what want - mani pedi- and then ask you to pay. Then I sat down to get a french manicure. This part was fine. Pretty standard. Next the pedi. The girl doing spoke very loudly the whole time to another tech. Not what you want when you're trying to relax. The worst part was as I was walking out the manager walked up to me grabbed my hand and said French, You didn't pay for french. You need to pay more. So now with my wet nails she stood there while I struggled to get more money out while trying not to ruin the manicure. now I understand that most salons charge extra for a french mani. It's more difficult and I have no problem with that. But then tell me upfront and do not stand there with attitude while I'm trying to get out more money with wet nails. The girl who did it, kept touching them and said they'll be ok. Went back to get them fixed. I really do love this place but I have to say the pedicures are quite short like really short...I wish I left with my feet more smooth, more time on that and scrub etc they do an amazing polish job which is why I go it's a huge plus. One other thing about pedicure with winter here I wish there where a couple different "types" of pedicures to choose from like one place has green tea cause it does one thing nice for skin, or a paraffin wrap or something better, oils etc other wise they have. I chose to go to Tip 2 Toe after reading reviews for several nail salon's in the area. I made an appointment at T2T for 11:30 on a Friday. The location is convenient and I was greeted promptly. Everything was ready to go, I picked my toe color and sat down for my pedicure. The offered me tea, turned on my massage chair and began my service. I really liked that the technician didn't talk to me the entire time. I was able to enjoy the service. She did a really nice, gentle massage and the foot part was especially good. She even did a paraffin wax on my heels! I wanted a very specific polish color. It was a color I saw in a picture that was very light pink but the white part of the nail didn't show through. It just looked clean and classy. They didn't have an exact color that would give the same effect. They tired exceptionally hard to match the color...trying several shades and combos to get it just right. In the end, I really don't love the color but they truly went out of their way to attempt to match it. They did ask me if I liked it but after so much effort I didn't have the heart to say not really, nor the time to have it redone. That said, the technician did a great job shaping and cleaning up my nails for the no-chip manicure. After it was done she did a really nice hand and arm massage PLUS a back and shoulder massage! I was thrilled with the back and shoulder massage because it's such a nice touch and many places skip this part now. Overall, the customer service and quality of work was great! They wrapped my toes up to make sure they wouldn't smudge when I put on my boots. Then it was time to pay. I provided my debit card but was asked for cash or check which was slightly annoying because I specifically asked if they took cards when I called for the appointment. At any rate, I paid and was on my way. Also, I want to commend them for sticking to their appointment schedule. They had a few walk-in's while I was there but they asked if they could come back because they were booked with appointments. Most places will say they have time, make the walk-in or the scheduled clients wait while they rush to fit everyone in. I came here once about 2 years ago and I was not a fan. I came in for a pedi and it was the worst one I got, because it was so rushed and not worth $30 dollars. When it comes to pedicures, I love a good foot massage but the massage did not even last 2 minutes.. no exaggeration. I decided to try this place out again for a no chip and I loved it. Walked in at 6:17 today, the lady that sits next to the sign-in sheet immediately gives me attitude by saying "it's 630. What do you want? We close at 7." I tell her I want a mani/pedi and she tells me "it's 630, we close at 7". Clearly she wasn't interested in my money...I would hate to pull the race card here. I was not happy at all with my experience at Tips 2 Toes. I went in on December 23rd, 2016. I called that morning and made an appointment for noon. I got there about 5 minutes early. When I got there I was asked to come back later because they were to busy for me, even though I had an appointment. I stayed and waited because of dinner plans and because I lived over 30 minutes away and did not want to drive back and forth. While waiting several people walked in and were immediately taken to receive their service, these people seemed to be regulars. After waiting about 20 minutes they said they could finally squeeze me in. I wanted a full set of acrylic nails and I had a specific design in mind that I showed my nail technician. While I was getting my nails done I had three different ladies work on me. This made my nails inconsistent because they all worked in different ways. My nails were not the design I wanted and I was not happy with the quality of work. I tried to say something to technician that was working on my nails at the time and she said to me "They are fine, this is what you asked for". At this time I was just frustrated with the whole experience. The quality was poor because the nails were different shapes and sizes. For example my nails of my thumbs one was very squared and one was more rounded. They were each different lengths also. It was like this for all my nails. The painting was also a poor quality. On the sides on my nails they were not completely painted and there were unpainted spots. To top it off I was using a gift card my boyfriend got for me. The full set was $50 and my gift card was for $60. I was told they were using the rest of the gift card, $10, for tip since I did not have any cash. I would not recommend Tips 2 Toes to anyone and I do not plan on going back. read more

Complete waste of money. Maybe I just got the wrong person but my manicure and pedicure sucked. The technician kept looking around while working on my feet, barely said anything except "put in water", and managed to finish my pedicure in 25 minutes. They do not use razors in that salon, so you'd think that more than 30 seconds would be spent with a pumice stone but no. Manicure was actually painful which is not something one would normally expect. Thankfully that was also over quickly (manicure and pedicure in 40 minutes). The tech did not even bother to help me get my stuff to the waiting area. She also did not sit me where I could dry my nails - just pointed to a chair and left. I had to wait for a long time to get my nails dry because I had to put my socks and shoes back on. I don't expect someone to wait on me but most places I have gone to, either ask you to put your footwear back on prior to the manicure or help. When the receptionist (who actually turned out to be a manager) saw me putting my coat on, she had the nerve to come up and ask if I tipped the technician. I was not actually planning on it because I was pissed as hell but then like an idiot, I did. I did make a point to call back and tell this so called manager what I thought about the salon and that particular tech. Unfortunately, everyone but this particular technician were a name tag, so I can't even warn people not to go to her! There is a ton of salons in that area that charge less and have better service. I went back recently and had a very different experience. My nails were okay but they charged me $20 to quickly paint my pre-schooler's nails. I have used this salon many times . However, the new owner has a very bad attituide and is terrible at customer service. Some of the previous technicans have left the salon. As far as schedules go they are always running late, but expect customers to be on time. As for cleanleness, the last manicure I had there the technician used same tools, clipers and nail files etc from the customer before me . When I questioned it , she was offended and starting talking to the other tech's in Korean, little did she know I speak Korean and she wasn't saying very nice things. I have been coming here since the day it opened, at least 12 years. It has changed hands several times. Lately, I have been getting dip manicures because for some reason, the regular manicures chip the next day. So, here I am, in the middle of my manicure when a young woman sits next to me and states to her technician that last time she was here she got an infection and is now on antibiotics for it. Lo and behold, the very next day, my ring finger, which my cuticle was nicked, starts turning red and swollen. By the middle of the night it was throbbing, so I put Neosporin on it and a band aid. By morning, my band aid was full of pus. A trip to the doctor and a weeks worth of strong antibiotics took care of the infection. I called and spoke to the owner. Her response was that it was a new technician who brought dirty instruments from another salon. Now if that isn't a crock of crap! And who are they hiring? Doesn't this woman have a license? She didn't Know she needed to use clean tools? Further more, the owner was sitting next to her coaching her during our appointment. What about the other woman who came in last week and got an infection? I can't help thinking what diseases might have been transmitted to people. Hepatitis C? HIV? Mersa? All this so the owner can save a buck. Where is the health department? This isn't funny. read more

I used to have beautiful nails but due to recent hormonal changes they crack and chip all the time. So, I decided to get gel nails and went to Tips 2 Toes based on other customers' reviews. BIG MISTAKE! I went last night and hate my nails! I paid $70 for pink & white French tips and the white portions are cloudy meaning some sections are whiter than others. My nails are bulky and fat and I hate the way my hands looks. Now, I'm on a mission to either get them fixed by someone else or have them taken off. What a waste of money!!! I sure hope my nails aren't ruined forever! read more
