Fast, affordable Thai food only a few blocks away from my regular Korean grocery store! The workers here are always friendly, and the food is delicious. Came a few minutes past closing yesterday (hours recently changed so they close at 6 instead of 7), and they still took my order. Pad thai is great (and huge), but I usually get Tom Yum with chicken, which is always piping hot and deliciously lemongrass-y. Heads up: cash only + parking can be a challenge. So I JUST wrote a review about another Thai place down the street being my favorite go to spot in town but that's bc I haven't tried Tip's House before I wrote that other review! Tip's House is located on 6th street, one block west of Western. If you dont look carefully, you can easily miss it. The parking around there is pretty bad so be prepared to drive around or just call in a go-to order and they'll bring it out to you, curb side assistance! So my first time here, I tried pad see yew, mint leave beef, and pad thai and they were all VERY GOOD!!!. I'm not a big fan of pad thai but this place might've had the best pad thai I've ever had!. (I had the shrimp pad thai per the waitress' recommendations). I can't quite put my finger on what it was that made it stand out but trust me, try this pad thai and don't forget to come back and like my review bc Yelp is giving me a hard time about becoming elite. ANYWAYS... The pad see yew was also very good. Pad see yew is my usual go to plate and it was better than most places. The chicken was very juicy, the noodles were nice & chewy, and the flavor was on point! We tried the mint leaf beef bc we wanted a beef plate to go with our shrimp pad thai & chicken pad see yew and this was also very good. The quality of beef was a lot better than most thai places and very flavorful! But be careful, it's a little spicy! ALL THIS FOR $27!!! The waitress was very helpful and she was actually kinda funny! Okay here is the issue with this place, someone in the comments said they said no cards but I just went there and she said she doesn't take orders under 20$ for cards. Not too long before I walked up to the door she came out and told a Hispanic male he cannot park in front of the shop because the spot is for pick up only, which I think is absolutely absurd who ever this women is doesn't have the right to tell people where to park. I also think she serve certain people with amount of respect which terrible for that business. I am really surprised by how disappointed I was to eat here. Pad Thai had absolutely zero flavor, I was perplexed given the high ratings of this place! the fact that it's cash only is also inconvenient. I had also asked for extra lime and the woman told me "there's already extra lime in the bag" I'm like, how can that be? I'm just asking for it now, how did you know to put extra lime? There was no extra lime, there was one slice that I believe automatically comes with the meal and looking at these other reviews looks like you have to pay extra for more sauces or limes, which is fine, but like she should've just said that instead. read more

My motto in life as is in Yelp is always under promise and over deliver so I apologize in advance if my review is too good to live up to but Tip's House is the best Thai joint I've ever had PERIOD. There's a reason why this little cute hole in the wall restaurant has been in business for 25+ years. All the locals nearby know and swear by it. If you've never been, give it a try! If you've never had Thai food or if you're not well versed in Thai food, pick up the phone and the nice lady who's always there will help you. People who run this place is super nice, kind, and patient. (I say "people" but I've only dealt with this one lady who I presume to be the owner or maybe the daughter of the owner.) Food is just unbelievably DELICIOUS!!! Portions are VERY GENEROUS, especially for the price. You get a good 1.5x more than most places. Food is super fresh, made to order. They are currently still serving during this COVID pandemic. The two times I've been during the COVID situation, they had parking space available literally right in front of the restaurant and the nice lady brought my food out right away. I mean for goodness sake, how many Thai places do you see pack hot sauce and picked jalapenos when you didn't even ask for them?!?! This place really cares about their customers as they should! (Restaurants like this has really disappeared and it's so unforunate!) Shrimp Pad Thai is a must. YES!!! I was never a big Pad Thai fan but yes, this is a must. Chicken Pad See Yew is bomb! Panang Chicken curry is super delicious! We tried the garlic beef today which was amazing. (Beware: You will be blowing out garlic breath like a Dragon for the rest of the day if you get this garlic beef tho.) All this for exactly $40.50!!! My wife and I eat like the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park and we still have just as much food left over for dinner. Tip's house serves up delicious Thai food at a reasonable price with very friendly service. I've been coming here for years, and I'm relieved they're still open for pick-up with extra safety measures during the pandemic. They've got everything you'd want, plus some interesting things I haven't seen anywhere else. Tom Kar Kai, and Plah Koong are my favorite of the classics, and on the original-to-Tip's front, you have to try the Wings of Angel stuffed chicken wings, and the pineapple fried rice. Tip's exists in a category that's nearly impossible to find these days -- all the comfort of a familiar chain, but without the corporate darkness lurking in the background. Super awesome cute little restaurant, I ordered to go and because alleys parking is crazy when I called in the representative told me to just call them and park in the front so that they can bring my food out. I was a little taken aback because I had never happened to be living in LA for so long. When I pulled up to the street I gave the restaurant a call and a lady ran out and even had change ready. I'm glad I had cash that day and I'm super grateful that they were able to accommodate me because it was a very traffic heavy location and limited parking. Another bonus is that the staff answering the call is always super friendly clear and nice! The Thai food provided was delicious authentic tasting and they were very generous in their portions. I bought two meals and an appetizer including pad Thai, barbecue pork appetizers, and pineapple fried rice. Of course I also had a Thai iced tea! Was craving Thai food and yelped somewhere real quick in my area otw home. There was ample street parking during the time I got there (rare). I paid for 20 min. parking and made my way to the restaurant It's Take Out ONLY atm. The host was super friendly and took my order. When my order came out she asked me if I was driving or walking and made my order easy to carry/transport for my drive. She also double checked my order in front of me to make sure I had everything. She was incredibly sweet, thorough, and humorous! I had my order ready in less than 20 minutes. Portions are large and delicious! I love that they add all the necessary sauces as well. Love this nice thai restaurant. Card will require $20 min purchase, but I'd be happy to pay in cash to help the small business keep as much of the income. Pad thai is very solid. The attendant is genuinely a nice person and you overall have a good experience. Looks like dine is still closed still at December 2021. I have been going to this restaurant for 25 years. They have become a part of my routine. These people have been a second family to my own. Mostly because they feed us like we're family. What a gem in Koreatown! I'm glad it's so perfectly close to my workplace. Parking is limited - meter parking in front of the restaurant or on Western (for lunch hours). I ordered spicy garlic chicken (lunch special $6-7) to go and it took only a few minutes to get my food. For that price, it was the perfect deal! The special came with a small salad, an egg roll, and the garlic chicken with half fried rice and half white rice. The garlic chicken was oily but whatever, I'm not a health junkie. The only con was that their "spicy" wasn't really the legit Thai spicy. Shame. Will definitely go back again for lunch when I get too lazy to cook :) read more

Tip's is the best! It's not just because it's conveniently close to work, I get consistently good, quick food and phenomenal service. My usual dishes are pad see yew, chicken satay lunch special, pad thai and yellow curry. All of the meats are solid (chicken, beef, pork) - can't really recommend one over the other. See Yew is always my favorite dish, so I judge Thai places on this meal - Tip's is up there with the best. It's easy to go too light or way too heavy on the sauce and here it's just right. There's always a good balance of meat and broccoli too. i like the chicken satay lunch special a lot too because you get 4 good-sized pieces of chicken skewers, two big scoops of rice (steamed, brown or fried), an egg roll and a little salad. Tons of food for lunch. I don't get the pad thai much but it's also good. The medium-spice yellow curry is actually a bit too spicy for my tastes but the ingredients are all desirable. Make sure you ask for mild if you're not a spice aficionado. There's metered street parking and plenty of tables. If you want to-go and you're in a hurry, you'll be in and out in five minutes and very satisfied with your meal. Not to mention a fun five minute conversation while you're waiting :) read more

I'm 20 years old so this restaurant has been around for a very long time. I always get either the chicken fried rice or chicken pad thai. The take-out portions are huge so I always get those. The red sauce they give is the perfect flavor. Mix it with a lot of lime and you get a burst of flavors. I always end up wanting more. Very cheap! Huge portions for 7 bucks! Kannika has been their waitress since she was a young teen, so this place is very tight knit and family orientated. You can't go wrong here. I hope Tip's House stays around forever. I am giving this place 5 stars because two hours later I still have a hint of mint in my mouth, and I asked for it to be spicy and it was spicy. The meal started with a salad, it was all cabbage topped with a little bit of carrot. The dressing was good, a sort of a mix of thousand island, Italian, and ranch, I'm sure there's a name for it but it was hard for me to figure out what it was. The service was fast (we came after lunch around 1:20) and friendly, and just before I could eat the last bite of salad, my Mint Chili Chicken plate which I can still taste was delivered. I ate a bite of the egg roll and each rice scoop before digging into the chicken to make sure I got an accurate taste. I felt the fried rice was missing something, but I didn't ponder on that I jumped into the chicken which was making the Thai Ice Tea disappear a little faster. It was tough for a few bites, but then I let the flame just engulf my mouth, and then it was just heavenly as each bite stroked the flames of flavor.
