Not the first time I buy a tire from this place last time I bought a tire for my Mazda same issue the next day I got a flat tire took it to a different place didn't think much about it. I purchased the Lifetime Wheel Alignment Package. For the first year or so the service was great; however, after about two years they started providing increasingly poor alignments. During my last experience with them, I was attempting to get my car aligned prior to selling the car and I had to go back four days in a row to get a decent alignment. I even went to their McLean location instead of Merrifield thinking this would be better (Tires Plus and Firestone are the same company). The report that they gave me after my third alignment indicated that my car was perfectly aligned, but I felt otherwise while driving it. The next day the report said that my car was very out of alignment. Do not spend your money here. read more

I bought 4 (expensive) tires with a warranty in 2015. One of the tires went flat the following week and they wouldn't honor the warranty despite the fact that I had it in writing. I really feel like I've saved a lot of money with Chris's help over the past 8 years and he's helping me be a more informed car owner so that I can extend the life of this car. I'm not a "money-bags", so I appreciate our long term relationship of respectful care. For years I've been going to Chris at this Tires Plus for oil changes and to get an honest evaluation of what OTHER mechanics might suggest for me to do (when I scored a coupon for a super cheap oil change, for example.) The most recent case was as follows: I was out of state and overdue for an oil change before a 500 mile trip back to Virginia. So during that out-of state oil change, the young mechanic there told me he'd discovered a problem with my braking system... and the older fellow backed him up telling me what would happen if I delayed too long (much worse damage. All of this with the support of diagrams. And "didn't I feel such-and-such when I brake??? Huh?") The total cost would have been over $600 and they stated it's important to replace the brakes every 50 K miles. When I consulted the car manual, it also suggested such and I couldn't actually remember having had the brakes serviced anytime recently. And yet I wondered a bit why my dealer who had RECENTLY conducted the 90,000 check up hadn't said anything concerning about the brakes. Hmmmmm. I left the place telling them I didn't have time for THEIR help but would look back into it here in VA. Called Tires Plus, asked for Chris and even though I tee'd him up for an easy sale based on the car manual's suggested maintenance pattern, Chris's team inspected and told me "There is nothing wrong with your brakes." He also clearly explained how one REALLY CAN'T SAY that at XXX miles the car needs new brakes because it depends on how much BRAKING you had done during those miles driven, and in my case, it's a lot of NOT braking on highways. Chris always helps this non-mechanic understand (with clear analogies and examples) how the systems work and what to watch for AND WHY. I'm never pressured or rushed. He's a good man and I'm pleased with the years of honest, informative service I've had there. read more

Took my car to them to discuss, "do I replace my brakes or tires first?". They examined both and assured me the tires to be done immediate and another 5,000 miles until brakes. Took for 2nd opinion. Don't go here unless you know exactly what you want. 5/8/2014 Walked in with a $89 coupon from the tires plus website for rear brake pads and resurface rotors. Service rep Chris said my car (2003 Nissan Maxima) will cost $180 and needed Semi-Metallic brake pads. I explained to him that my car uses ceramics as Original Equipment (OE) directed. I then asked him what is the brand name of the brake pads to be installed. He replied, "Wagner". I searched on the Wagner website with my Year, Make, Model car and the results only showed Ceramic Pads (PD900). The service still insist I install semi-metallic as per his computer. After another 5 minutes researching this, I remembered 4 years ago I replaced the front pads with Wagner Ceramic Pads at another shop. The service rep then came back to me and said I will installed the lesser quality ceramic pads for $127.19 and still trying to convince me that Semi-Metallic is better for my car. I decided not to get my car service here because of the dishonestly. I then went to AutoZone to continue my research and the employees there said ceramics are better than the semi-metallic and since my car's OE is Ceramic, you should always go with the Original Equipment (OE) standards. Summary: Tires Plus at 8217 Lee Hwy Fairfax, VA 22031 tried to sell me a lesser quality brake pads for the higher price. Wagner rear brake pad PD900 at Advance Auto Parts is only $51.00. They were going to charge me $127.19 for pads and installation service. Stay away!!!! read more

If it seems too good to be true, it's not. When looking for resurfacing rotors and getting new brakes on my suv, tires plus had the lowest price and they had a coupon. When I got there, they told me that I needed new rotors (although another "Merchant" told me it could be resurfaced). I asked what kind of rotors and Chris told me "PEK". They have no idea since their computer places the order to a parts store. I had no clue what PEK was but he told me they were better than OEM. When I got home, I googled the model number for the rotors. They were the low quality Carquest wearever rotors from advanced auto parts. The rotors started to rust after 3 months. When I went back, Chris said it's not a safety issue and said I could spray paint it if I wanted. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

I have been a customer here for several years now and the manager Chris and his mechs have been reliable all along. Recently had a problem with vibration at high speed at 15k into a new set of rotors and pads and took it back in...they test drove and confirmed the problem and ultimately replaced rotors and pads without pro-rating with great results. This place is a bit cheaper than other tire stores in the area, but caveat emptor: you get what you pay for, as far as customer service goes. Knowing what kind of tires I wanted to put on my car, I did a Google search. Tires Plus carried those tires, and offered the best price. The corporate website guaranteed that price, as long as I brought in a printout of the web page detailing the terms. Moreover, according to the website, making an appointment online was supposed to guarantee 59-minute service from the time of the appointment, or else I'd get $59.00 back. When I arrived at my appointment time and presented the price guarantee, the gentleman at the counter typed it up and gave me the order to approve. The sheet he had me sign showed a price that was about $120 higher than the "guarantee." When I protested rather firmly, he re-wrote it--and it still came out nine or ten bucks higher than the "guarantee." Whatever. Then, when I mentioned that I had somewhere to be 90 minutes after my appointment time, the gentleman said he would "do the best he could." When I told him that the guaranteed price and promised time-frame were what brought me in, he simply said that another customer with an appointment was ahead of me. The job was finally finished about an hour and 45 minutes after my appointment time. I was going to insist on the $59.00 rebate, but somehow the bottom-line price seemed to reflect a price lower by most of that amount than what was written up. I had no time to ask questions, being late for my other commitment. I have no idea why the final price was what it was. So I did get the tires I wanted, and I did get them at a lower price than I would've elsewhere, but only after some hassle, and not in the timeframe promised by the parent company online. If you are willing to haggle, and don't mind the uncertainties I've just described, this store will work for you. Just don't expect the deal to be simple and cut-and-dried. read more

We are from out of state and brought in a flat for repair. They told us the tread was too low for repair and that the Hankook tires were known for wearing out prematurely. We were suspicious but didn't have much choice and got new tires. We later found out from our dealer that Tires Plus was being totally truthful and they were willing to work with Ford to get us compensation if we could get some information off of the tires. We called back and Tires plus texted us back pictures of the old tires. They were also very friendly. read more

I've gotten my tires from this location twice and both were good experiences. The staff was friendly. They offered options in various price ranges for my tires. They ordered my requested tire and both times they received and installed the tire within the same day. They keep good computer records on you and your car do visit #2 was verys easy. October 2012. Tires Plus, 8217 Lee Highway, Merrifield. Bottom line: Friendly guys, cheap prices, straight-forward pricing, good customer service, and they were true to their word about what time they'd get me in and how long it would take. Recommended! My old car with a lot of miles needed new tires. (Tip: For $5 you can buy a tire tread gauge at any auto parts store and measure the depth of your tire tread. That way you *know* if the tread has worn out and it's time for new tires. Don't trust mechanics to tell you it's time for new tires! Measure it yourself. I had measured my tread, they were below spec, and so I knew it was time to get them replaced). My car is old, I don't do any unusual driving, and I don't live in an extreme climate. So, I wanted four new, ordinary tires. No need for directional tires, run flats, aqua tread, high-speed performance, etc. I plugged my home address into google maps and did a "search nearby" for "tires." That gave me plenty of places to choose from and I called six. To each I explained I wanted four ordinary *new* tires (Tip: Always watch out for *used* tires) that would be good for 50k to 70k miles. I wasn't interested in any bells, whistles, or high-end tires. The tire costs were all over the map and maybe - or maybe not - included all kinds of separate charges for things like wheel balancing, new valve stems, and disposal fees. (Tip: Watch out for that! You've got the cost of the new tires, the cost of the labor to install them, but tire places will add on all kinds of additional charges they MAY NOT BE UP FRONT ABOUT. ASK!). There were also different stories about whether or not a shop could get me in that day ("Were you looking to bring it in today, 'cause we are really busy"), and also how many hours of labor it would cost to do the job. Lots of variation out there! Then I talked to Russ at Tires Plus. He was friendly on the phone, understood what I did - and didn't - want, and offered me Primewell Valera Touring tires (size 185/65/R14) warranted for 50k miles. They were $73.99 per tire, but it was buy three tires get one free, so the total cost was actually $55.49 per tire. That was the lowest tire cost of the six places I called. Labor and fees/taxes totaled $91.18 bringing the grand total to $313.14 - the lowest grand total cost out of the six. I specifically asked about additional charges and he replied his grand total price was 100% out-the-door -- no additional or semi-hidden charges. He offered me an alignment at an additional cost but, since I recently had an alignment, I passed. To his credit he didn't get pissed or try to pressure me into changing my mind on the alignment. He only had two of the tires in stock but, in a great show of customer service, he said he'd have two more shuttled over from a sister store. If I could bring in my car at one o'clock that afternoon they'd have all four tires by then, they'd be able to take me right away, and it'd take 90 minutes. Sold! I went over there at one o'clock sharp and Russ told me they had all four tires and were ready to go. I walked over to the Silver Diner, killed an hour and a half, and when I came back my car was all set. The whole thing worked like a charm. (Tip: When buying *new* tires, always check for the little rubber fingers that stick out from the tread on a new tire. That's the sign that you do, in fact, have new tires and they didn't swindle you by charging you for new tires but really giving you used ones. I had rubber fingers on all four tires so that was all good). Overall: Friendly guys, cheap prices, straight-forward pricing, good customer service, and they were true to their word about what time they'd get me in and how long it would take. I came to this location today to get new tires for my girlfriend's audi a4 Quattro. With these vehicles, you unfortunately have to replace all 4 no matter what. Anyway, the service representative I spoke with on the phone was extremely polite and helpful. Luckily I work at the xsport Fitness next door so I could work while they worked. I left the vehicle there and two hours later it was ready. I highly recommend these guys and am glad to see management has drastically improved! read more

To echo others, friendly at the front desk but full of it when it comes to actual good advice. Brought my car in for tires--no problem. I wanted the car checked out to see if there was any pothole damage from a particularly hard hit the day prior. I was told I needed my front struts replaced immediately. When I declined the $800 service, dude at the front desk says "My mechanic is really upset that you're not getting those struts replaced; it's dangerous." I thanked him for his concern. When I took it to my mechanic, my car was practically disassembled and then road-tested on I-66. Guess what? Nothing at all wrong. When it comes to this Tires Plus location, you may be fine buying tires, but I wouldn't expect much else. read more

Had tires delivered from tire rack. Dropped off wheels to have them mounted on. They called me two hours later and said they were done, but that they had bent the center cap and would reimburse me for a new one. Went in to have the wheels swapped, but was asked to come back in the morning. A little inconvenient, but they more than made up for it by individually bagging each wheel and returned tire and putting new stem caps on. Head and shoulders above Hoagan and Sons Goodyear. read more

Do NOT go here!!! I needed a new tire and it's down the street so I went. They were friendly but definitely the type of people that end up giving mechanics a bad name. I ended up getting two new tires and they told me my front brakes were below the legal limit and I needed it changed immediately. I just had my car serviced so I found this hard to believe. I drove away and the next day my car started vibrating. I went to 2 different body shops - both told me I'm about 5,000 miles away from needing new brakes - so tires plus lied and tried to take advantage of me. I also had to buy $50 to get my tires balanced since Tires Plus did such a poor job putting on my new tires and weighting them which is what caused my car to shake. Awful, awful place! read more

I owe a huge thank you to these guys! I was driving down Gallows Rd, and the guy in the car next to me waved at me, and said "your tire is really low!" Uh oh. It was 6:40pm on a Thursday, and I had no idea where to go. A quick Yelp search led to me these guys who heroically helped me diagnose the issue (a screw impaled in the tire) then plugged the hole and filled the tire - free of charge - right at closing time!! had a fairly good experience. I went there about 1 month back to check if one flat tire can be repaired. I was pretty sure it could not be, and I had to replace 2 rear tires as their tread became very low(that was indicated in previous servicing at Firestone and another Japanese store). They offered the same price for the tires I found online and the servicing was done in around 1.25 hrs. I compared their price and associated cost with other stores quote and found them almost same. So there was nothing as such to complain about. Also they did not try to sell me anything else by stating 100 things should be repaired etc. So far I have not faced any other problem with the car. read more

Took a tire in to be patched. They told me it would be done by 5 PM. They never called me and the store was closed, leaving me stuck without a tire until the next morning. When I went to pick the tire up, they had no clue whether or not the tire had be patched or not. Fast forward 7 days as I return from my vacation, I come to find my tire flat and my car sitting on its rim for who knows how long. They said they could help me and gave me an appointment time; I cancelled work, drove to the store, doing damage to the tire but figuring I was on my way to get it fixed, right? Walked in, the person at the front didn't even move from his desk, looked at my car through the shop window and said, "We don't fix those tires and don't have them in stock." WHY DIDN"T YOU SAY SO OVER THE PHONE? Now I am miles away from home, missed work, and need to drive even farther on the flat to solve the problem. read more

We had our tires replaced here last year. 1 year and 12k miles later, those tires are worn out and failed inspection. We came back to inquire about the 50k miles warranty. The service agent flatly denied us with a curt "No" and "No can do". He refused to look at our receipts, did not bother to check the records. This happened earlier today: I need new brake pads and I'm short on funds. I saw a coupon online for $120 for each axle and they are just down the street from me, so I thought I'd give them a try. Immediately, the front counter worker said that the brakes included with the coupon squeak with moisture, but if I bought the brake pads that were just $50 more those wouldn't squeak. I said no thanks, I'd go with the coupon ones. Then he started saying that there would be extra expenses for rotors, etc., even though the coupon said that rotor resurfacing was included. I realized that I was being set up for a bait and switch tactic - and they weren't even subtle about it. Isn't this supposed to be illegal? It's definitely not moral and don't want to spend my money with a business that supports this type of scam. I found out they are a subsidiary of Firestone so they won't be getting my business either. read more

Awful. They sold me tires in 2011 and they said they were the best for my mini-van. I wanted tires that would last and be safe for my family. I had 27K miles and now have 52K miles in 2014. The tires are absolutely worn down and they are trying to sell me new tires saying the tires I bought (from them!) are crap. read more

I've had all four of my cars serviced, to include new tires and minor repairs, at Tires Plus on Lee Highway for more years than I can count. I go back there because I've found their prices to be the lowest for tires and their repair work quick, competitive, and reliable. They have consistently honored warranties on their tires. (I've never had occasion to return to them due to problems with repair work, so I cannot speak to their repair work warranties.) This is a competitive business line with many available options in the area. If I had reason to complain, I'd drop them in a minute. But, to the contrary, I not only will continue to bring my business to them, but would recommend them to others. read more

After the Annandale Tires Plus could not get the tires I ordered I tried the lee highway store. I set up an online appointment and entered my three choices for times. They sent me an E-mail confirmation that my time and tires would be ready and they would be happy to see me. When I got to the store the employee could not find my reservation even though I had the confirmation in my hand. Then he told me that they did not have the tires but could order them from a store that was about an hour and a half away. I will never give Tires Plus another chance! read more

Trusty RAV4 needed a hub assembly replacement. Have been going to these for years, fair price for work always - but had to return within 48 hours cos of a defective part, according to them. Be that as it may, they installed another new hub and replaced parts damaged by defect (they were major parts too) no cost and hassle-free. Even got me a rental for use at their cost while my vehicle was in the shop overnight. And Rob went to bat for me when the rental company tried to sneak in a hefty charge that I would have definitely refused had it been correctly explained to me. Probably helps that I've been going to these guys for years. But the folks at least in the front end have changed, and they still have given me a fair deal, and always hassle free. And this experience shows they stand by their work. These guys are as good as it gets. Robert (Rob), Steve, and John are the guys I worked with at the front end.
