Toast is a unique fresh idea especially for Whittier. There was a long wait, usually an indicator of some kind of goodness. Service was good but the kitchen was running really slow. Took an hour to get our food. The potions are generous, they don't hold back on the avocado excellent spread . Bacon A-1 quality, eggs cooked perfect. With all this goodness we were expecting a SPECTACULAR explosion of flavor, but it all tasted a little insipid. I'm thinking it may be an acquired taste. Tried this place for the first time yesterday. We just moved to the area and wanted to try out a breakfast place with some family. We got to sit outside on the patio, such a great atmosphere and pretty quiet. We placed our orders and had them within about ten minutes. The chimichuri steak toast was sooo good, a bit disappointed in the home fries but the hash browns were amazing!!!! Friendly great service! We will definitely be going back! read more

I will not ever return to Toast. We ate here a few months ago and had a decent meal but the juices are expensive and small. Service is terrible! Three times since our first visit we have stopped to eat there and the hosting / restaurant management has been horrible. There are many empty tables inside and on the patio but the hostess said they do not want to seat anyone at the empty tables because they don't want to overwhelm the kitchen. She also said there are a lot of people who make reservations on line but don't show up. She said the wait was 20-30 minutes but after 45 minutes of waiting, and only seating two parties, she told me she doesn't really know how long it would take to seat us because there were a lot of on line reservations made. I came here on a late Friday morning with a friend. It was a bit confusing with the parking, but we found the place and were quickly seated. For 10:30 in the morning, it was pretty packed with families and couples. We ordered, and the food was brought out in a timely matter. Also, shout out to Juan for being such a kind and helpful server. There are so many options to choose from on the menu, but my friend and I both ordered the Cali fresh toast meal, which came with any two sides for a meal price of $11.99. It is honestly such a deal. You get one big piece of avocado toast with fresh tomatoes (and chili flakes, sooo delish) and olive oil, along with any of their sides. Their sides range from 1-3 eggs however you like them cooked, potatoes, bacon, salad, and more. I ordered two eggs, but in the end wished I had gotten three. I also ate the side arugula salad, which was a little plain for me as it was just arugula and a light vinaigrette, but it was still good and healthy. My friend also ordered a lavender latte, and loved it. Overall the food tasted super fresh and my friend and I pleasantly enjoyed the food. In addition, the restaurant was clean and aesthetic. I would have to say food was delicious! I had one perfect avocado and one cali fresh. My friend had the cali. Everything was really good. My friend also got a side of bacon which was really thick and cooked perfectly. She also got a side of arugula salad and if you like citrus it tastes really lemony. The 4 star is because the server brought all the orders on wrong breads than i had asked for, but didnt want to make it an issue bc i hate complaining. He was really nice though. Will go back to try other stuff bc they had a lot on their menu that looked good. One other thing is that their coffee wasnt really hot. It was more on the lukewarm side. My husband and I went to toast for the first time with our puppy. The food was good but the service was amazing!!! The lady was by her self and she polite, attentive, quick and bottom line she was on her game with each and everyone. She even brought our little puppy fresh water. It was a chilly morning, but it was colder inside than out. The menu looked great, but service was slow, our four meals came out at different times, and that included the sides. Every meal was cold and lacked flavor. The giant pancake (also cold) came with 1 tiny pat of butter, and no syrup. The coffees were horrible, also slow and cold, and missing flavor. I was so happy to discover this restaurant on Yelp while in LA. I love toast and I love the fact that they offer so many different toppings here, savory and sweet! My boyfriend and I shared 3 orders of toast so we'd be able to try different things on the menu. My favorite has to be the peanut butter banana toast, so yummy! They have the cutest tea bags but jokes aside if you are a tea person you will love this tea. I had the 1 Santa Barbara Toast Meal which came with one very large piece of freshly baked toast and a side of eggs and potatoes. I greatly appreciated how generously topped the toast was. It had a lot of salmon lox and avocado on top, making the price worth it. My friend got a rose lavender tea. Or was it coffee? What a nice SURPRISE to find TOAST in Whittier! We were in town for a family event and was so amazed to find this non-generic, non-franchise, non-processed food eating OASIS located in a strip mall. We knew we found gold when we checked in with Chris the Host and Diana who waited on us. My House Eggs Benedict was heaven with hollandaise that did not overpower the dish. Bacon was awesome, the coconut-orange juice drink was yummy and all 4 of us were so pleased with our selections.
