Healthy start grain bowl

Stopped here for breakfast, and the food was fresh and tasty. I've never seen their trick of rolling cold cuts into a ball and searing them - surprisingly flavorful! Portion for the price was fair. Worth trying!

This is our favorite breakfast place in town, their breakfast bowls are so unique and healthy and filling, their burritos is a killer! Customer service is great, they do get really busy on weekends and the wait time can be a little long, but it def worth the wait.

A year after my first review, does this place still hold up? Thankfully the answer is a definitive yes. If anything, it's gotten better as the owner has gotten his systems and workflows down pat. What sets this place apart is the choices and fresh ingredients. The breakfast sandwiches have great bread. But the bowls and scrambles are awesome. I got one that had avocado, spinach, tomatoes and scrambled eggs. All were delish. The coffee is also a standout and a big step up from the usual New England Dunkin variety. Plus, service is so friendly and efficient. Make this place on your routine. It's awesome.

Packed bowl minus kale added roasted peppers

Stopped in for a quick breakfast, and the food was great. The counter order caught me off guard, but no complaints there. I think the staff was friendly and efficient and the food was ready fairly quickly. The only reason not 5 star was my wife said the woman's room was dirty. I would make it a regular stop if I lived closer.

Grain Bowl

Came here after hearing buzz about it in town. It did not disappoint. Food is cooked to order and was fresh and delicious! I got the grain bowl and although on the slightly salty side, because of the ham, it still had a lot of great flavors to please the palate. Not much in the way of a beverage selection, just the basics, buuuut if you bring your our travel mug you can fill up on coffee for $2, ANY size....SCORE! The place itself is a bit small, but there is a large table in the middle the room for a larger group and several smaller tables around the exterior. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. I'll definitely be back.

Located in the space formerly occupied by the defunct Bamboo Grill Vietnamese Restaurant is the Toasted OAT Café. It's a fairly new breakfast-brunch-lunch spot open from 6 to 3 on Tuesday to Friday and 7 to 2 on the weekend. You order at the front counter and they call your name when your food is ready, coffee is self- service, and it can seat maybe 25 customers. We walked in around 11:30 on a Sunday and saw that most of the seats were occupied -we ended up taking two end seats at a table for six. The breakfast choices include sandwiches, burritos, bowls, and scrambles. The sandwiches and burritos range from $8 -$10 and the bowls and scrambles are either $10 of $11. I should mention that these prices for the sandwiches, bowls and scrambles are for named choices on the menu with a pre-selected amount of fillings or ingredients. You can "Build Your Own" with less ingredients for a lesser price. Lunch choices follow a similar flowchart- you can get one of the named sandwiches at $9-$11, a named salad at $9-$13, or a Build Your Own sandwich or salad. We went for two breakfast selections today -a sandwich and a bowl. The $8 West Coast Sandwich included bacon, two eggs, cheddar, avocado, tomato and a hash brown on toasted wheat bread.- It was a pretty big and filling sandwich. The $10 Grain Bowl had sliced ham, turkey, two eggs, cheddar, barley, kale, tater tots (the advertised sweet potato tots were sold out), roasted red peppers, onions, mushrooms, and shredded carrots. The Grain Bowl was fantastic! Great flavors, big portion, excellent value. The coffees were $2 a pop. Improvement opportunities exist and they sit squarely on the shoulders of the young lady up front who was unsmiling, unfriendly and pretty much unresponsive to human interaction. She took our orders robotically with no hint of personality, said nothing to greet us, nothing to thank us for our order, and nothing to acknowledge that we'd tossed a bill into the tip jar. As mentioned, the coffee is a self-serve deal with three carafes -decaf, regular and bold. The regular carafe was missing and when we inquired about it, we learned it was being refilled. When she walked over to the coffee station to reset the missing carafe, she didn't even check the creamer pitchers at all -we had to tell her the half and half pitcher was empty. Bottom line is that the meal was pretty good at a pretty good breakfast price. But the customer service sure could have been better. And that's the difference between 3 and 4 stars.

Try the bowls! They are built on a bed of tater tots and topped with your choice of delicious sauces! Hidden gem in Canton.

This is a newer place, i think. It is great for a quick bite; e. G. A hot sandwich on a cold day! Highly recommend.

That's because when you pull into the shopping plaza.....you don't see it. But if you circle around to the right, you'll see it on the side of the strip mall's buildings. And trust me, this spot is definitely worth hunting down to experience a standout breakfast or lunch. We walked in a little before 1:00 yesterday and found a table for two in the back left corner of the dining room, so we had a good view of the entire room. I have to tell ya, the place was packed! Breakaway closes at 3:00 every day except Sunday (2:00), and there were breakfast and lunch menus out, plus a few daily specials. My wife went with a "William's Ham Panini" ($17) with thin sliced ham, bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar and honey mustard on a grilled panini. We both were struck at how much ham was piled onto her sandwich. She had a few choices for a side dish and put her nickel down on potato salad. I went with The JT Salad ($16). The menu says it's been their "best-selling salad 25 years and counting". It was a big portion of mixed greens served with house balsamic dressing, grape tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese, and grilled chunks of teriyaki glazed chicken breast. It was stellar, with plenty of that yummy cheese and chicken. The only sour note with our lunch was a rather steep $4.25 for a glass of iced tea that was half-filled with ice. The food was very good and a decent amount of leftovers came home with us for another day. I was unexpectedly impressed by how crowded Bistro was on a random Monday. I bet you'll be too.

I was so shocked when I found a Peri Peri place opened up in Avon of all places, but I'm thrilled…read morethey're here!! The food was absolutely amazing. I love peri peri chicken and got the rice plate. Everything tasted delicious and the staff/service were super nice and speedy. I would definitely come back here again. It's one of those order at the counter places with an option to dine in. Would definitely come back!

"But I got my head in the clouds like Zeus Swear I can see…read morethe game from a bird's-eye view" (Eminem) What on earth does peri peri mean? Well peri peri is a fiery little African Bird's-eye chili whose name literally means "hot pepper" in Bantu. Tribos Peri Peri in Avon is the regional chain's eighth location (and the only one in CT), with the other seven in MA, MD, and NJ. Their cuisine pays homage to that incendiary African Bird's-eye chili pepper in their Portugese, African, and Southeast Asian flavored chicken dishes. You can have your pick of wings, tenders, platters, and even a whole chicken with or without sides. Some of the sides and appetizers have a Mediterranean flair such as hummus, pita breads, couscous, falafel, etc. The non-chicken lovers can get other dishes with lamb, paneer cheese, falafel, etc. Now, when you order chicken you have to decide on your tolerance for a heat level. I ordered three freshly grilled tenders and needed to select one of their six spice levels for the sauce the tenders get bathed in. Level One is plain, Level Two is Lemon & Herb, Level Three is Mild, Level Four is Medium, Five is Hot, and Six dares you to be Very Hot. I went with Level Four Medium, and I gotta tell ya, my chicken tenders were very spicy. Oh... and the chicken itself? FANTASTIC - freshly grilled, large, moist and perfect. Soon after the tenders were delivered to my table, two more things appeared- a squeeze bottle of white and red sauce. The smiling server said if my chicken was too spicy I could cool it down with the white garlic sauce. But if they weren't spicy enough, I could increase the firepower with some peri peri sauce. Of course I had to try the peri peri sauce and lets just say I was very grateful I just tried an eye dropper's worth of it. Along with the chicken, I ordered an amazing side of grilled corn on the cob. So the food was great, but how about the service? My experience was fantastic. The gent who took my order was friendly, conversational, and helpful. And when he brought out those two sauces, he was playfully smiling when he talked about the heat level of that Peri Peri sauce. What a nice addition to the Farmington Valley.
