I LOVE Tocaya so so much, but this location always makes mistakes! I don't think I've ever had an experience where there isn't a mistake with my order. Today, I ordered my bowl with beans on the side and they forgot them in my bag. Thankfully, I checked and grabbed them before I left, but when I got home I opened my bowl and saw they forgot the pineapple in my bowl. They took my order correctly, just flawed on the execution. Not worth the money! We used to get food from Tocaya a lot but we won't be anymore. Complete rip off and it's fascinating how their prices keep going higher and higher and food portions keep getting smaller and smaller. $7 for a lettuce wrapped taco half the size of my palm. At least fool me by giving me a lettuce piece that's a little bit bigger? Or double the layers of lettuce so I THINK, I got some value for my money. Been three times and two of those times it took an insane amount of time to get our food. They don't know how to handle the lunch rush and we won't be back unless it's late afternoon or we have hours to spare for dilly dallying. The delay on the first visit had us at the restaurant almost three hours. Food for the three of us (same ticket number) came out at vastly different times -- literally more than an hour apart-- and long after we relented and got the rest of it to go. This first visit, though unbelievable, is more forgiveable because it was within a week or two of opening. Stuff happens. There was no delay on the second visit, but we ate late afternoon when the restaurant was virtually empty. We went back for the third visit when the group I was with had only an hour for lunch, chalking the first delay up to growing pains and figuring they were worked out. We ended up late back to the office after waiting more than 45 minutes for our food and deciding to get it to go. The floor manager understood our frustration and made our food a priority. Somehow it had been "bumped" before it was done. We were observing other customers that day and noticed that some of them were having the same issues. I'm very disappointed with this tocaya. I love this chain and have visited several locations, but I visited this location and ordered guac with plantain chips and a side of steak and BOTH the plantain chips and steak were BURNT! I forgot to take a photo of the steak but this location needs to train their staff better to maintain the quality and reputation that Tocaya has come to earn. Edit: I am bumping up the stars from 1 to 3 based on customer service. The area director Carlos reached out and said he would look into the problem. If you order from Tocaya via Uber Eats you can expect missing items from your order. We've ordered food from Tocaya using Uber literally dozens of times. Initially things were great, and I love the taste of their food, but then things got sloppy. Whether it was missing items, absent proteins or overlooked add-ons, something has been wrong or missing from nearly every order of recent history. It's a shame as the quialtiy of their food is great. Unfortunately, it's become a game of roultette as to what will be wrong with each new order. Also, whether you order chips and salsa, chips and gucamole, or both, you'll only recieve one small container of chips even though you're charged for chips with each item. Plus the amazing lemonades, this has been my go to spot almost 4 times a week I crave the Del Rey Bowl I believe that's the name is too good. I used to think Tocaya is expensive but I compared it to chipotle and chipotle they half ass your meat when they give you 6 Tony squares of steak. Tocaya the pricing the freshness is lol worth it it's not even expensive you can walk out of there with $13 for a lot of food. Despite the long wait , I came back the next day to see if things would be different. Yes it was different indeed. The female manager with the multinatural colored ponytail was very Rude to me. This has become a Thursday tradition, having lunch or dinner here with a friend of mine. We love it! The plantain chips and guacamole is a must. We order this every time! The guiltless burrito with no protein or cheese, and extra veggies is also very good. Sauce on the side, the chipotle creme is the best! Their kale and quinoa bowl is also really good. If you get it with the jack cheese it has just the right amount of kick to it. Sooooo good!!! We've also tried their shrimp tacos and those are great. Sadly this Tocaya was a huge disappointment. I'm a big fan of the chain and have come to expect great things from it, but the Toluca Lake location didn't deliver. I found VERY little peppers and onions in my fajita burrito (so few that it took me about half the burrito to find even a diced sliver). My husband also got a burrito, the Mexicano, and each of them were filled about 50 percent with rice, which was undercooked and crunchy at that. The beans in mine were overcooked and mushy also. When my friends & I visited this location, we were told that online ordering wouldn't work for us to get our drinks table side but the Caucasian couple next to us was getting table service. The young lady had an awful attitude on a "Taco Tuesday" night. This location closed their bar at 8:45, when there were still people in line waiting to order Margaritas. Keep in mind THEY CLOSE AT 10:00 It makes no sense to ADVERTISE a day of Tacos and Margaritas and then create an imaginary window for Bar hours. I'll never return to this location and if you want to save yourself time then I hope you follow suit. Management needs to do a revaluation on their staff and hospitality. read more

The problem that I have with Tocaya is that it is not easy to order from them ahead of time. I order lunch for several people very often. Tocaya's website makes it difficult to order ahead of time. Why tell people to order on line when you can't even schedule the pick up or delivery. So to order from them I either have to call them right when they open. (When I'm in the middle of something) or just wait till I get there and the lunch will be late. I will be guiding my lunches to stay away from Tocaya because of the inconvenience. So pleasantly surprised with Tocaya. This has been on my list for awhile but I had never stopped in -but after eating here I wish I hadn't waited so long to try it! The decor is so so cute and fresh feeling - like stepping into a beach-y succulent garden. The menu felt like a lot to figure out at first, but it's great because there are a lot of opportunities for customizing your meal. I got the guiltless burrito and my friend got the keto bowl and we were both happy with our choices. Good flavor and value for the amount of food you get. We also both got margaritas which were probably my favorite part. I got passion fruit and my friend tried the prickly pear. They were prepared with super cute garnishes and tasted super fresh and were not too cloyingly sweet. The employees I came in contact with were all really nice and helpful too, which is a plus. Our whole family is keto and we are always excited to find a place that has keto offerings. I recently ordered 3 Keto Bowls with extra avocado. They were absolutely delicious however, the amount of food was really disappointing. There was barely 1/3 cup of cauliflower rice and the other toppings were pretty meager as well and at $20 a bowl that's annoying. The music was so loud I could not have a conversation with my wife who was seated 3 feet on front of me. It's not often that I have a reason to travel through and beyond the Orange County into LA but because of a recent weekend family wedding, I found myself up in the Valley area. We had some extra time inbetween various events so a small group went for lunch. Two people wanted something "healthy" so we ended up at Tocaya. Now, I try not to be too negative so it takes something really bad to motivate me to write a bad review .... but for this place, I'll make an exception. I ordered one of their vegan gluten-free rice bowls. Vegan and gluten-free is not my normal choice so when it came and the first taste was a little "off", I didn't think anything about it because I thought maybe that was the way it was supposed to be. Apparently I was wrong. By late afternoon, I was so sick with gastrointestinal distress that I missed the wedding and the next morning's brunch. It was two days before I started feeling normal again. I love tocaya, and have good experiences at other locations. However this location is awful. I have come here three times and each time was horrible. One time they simply got our order wrong during covid so we didn't know until we got home. When we called, they informed us it was right. Um... no it's not. But they kept telling me they made it correctly. The second time we went there was equally infuriating. We ordered take out and went in and picked it up. It was during covid so it was contactless. We had to go in and find our food on the table of other bags of food. when we got home she got a notification on her card. When she clicked on it she realized that after we left someone added $10 on top of our bill. We called and the manager tried to convince us it was a glitch then she said that it was a tip. A tip? For what? We saw no one when we went in and we sifted through the bags to find our food and left. She argued and wouldn't take it off. Finally she reversed the chard after discussing it for 15 min. Last night we went in for tacos on taco Tuesday. We ordered at 7:03 from the QR code on the table. It told us our order would be ready at 7:21. At 7:35 I went to check to see where our tacos were because we thought maybe they were inside with takeout by mistake. I was told it was busy so it was taking a long time. Fine. At 7:45 they finally came out, we were missing one taco and the ones we did get were ice cold. So they took them back and never came back. At 8:00 I went to check and they said we were behind all of the other orders. I said we have been waiting for an hour and I didn't understand why they were not before the others. The manager told me others were waiting too. When I showed him that I had ordered at 7:03 he did say "oh I will rush them". When they came out 5 min later they were all cold. It was crazy. The manager said he refunded them and showed me a receipt but there is no refund on my bank account. It is the craziest place to attempt to dine. Horrible food and dishonest staff. How the mighty have fallen. THE GOOD: EATING AT the Tocaya location in mid-Hollywood (*not* Sunset strip) in person is probably your best bet for decent service, yummy and healthy food that offers a variety for different dietary restrictions. We have eaten at this location and have not been disappointed. However... THE BAD: Please, friends - NEVER ORDER DELIVERY from this place!! One time we waited for 2 hours before our order suddenly "got cancelled". Another time we decided to order deliver from a different location and was quoted 50-60 mins, fine. THEN as soon as we pay, it jumped up to 90 minutes! We tried to cancel less than 1 minute later and were told that if we cancelled, we would get charged $38 out of a $50 order. So again, now WE are late to pick up our child while starving, finally to receive cold food for the pleasure of paying too much money for it. Oh also - my husband took a client to the new location in Burbank and bought him lunch; so both orders were placed at the same time. This is a new location of a local chain, vegan with fresh ingredients, obviously it's good for everyone no matter your diet. If you don't like it then just have the plantain chips and guacamole and swing over to big boy across the street. The wait is normally long so be prepared especially if it's your lunch hour. It's a colorful and geometric aesthetic with a large patio area. The menu is large and bowls and salads are the popular items. The food was good but alittle bland. The kitchen and servers were experiencing some miscommunication. Plates around us including our own were misplaced at the wrong table, forgotten, or late. If I was rating just the plantain chips it would be a different story. I got a burrito which was small but pretty good if only it got there on time and came with the avocado requested. Life brings so many unanswered questions: "Why do bad things happen to good people?" "How did they build the pyramids?" "Is time travel possible?" And equal among them: "Why doesn't Tocaya have a higher rating on Yelp?" If it weren't for a friends recommendation I probably wouldn't have tried it. I love and depend on Yelp and I consider it highly reliable. However there are a few reasons why Yelp is wrong in this case. First, upon entrance, the place is packed. Every table in the large establishment is full. The well-designed interior is also further beautified by the well-dressed and the carefully-styled crowd filling the seats. The line extended the length of the restaurant with new customers walking in regularly. Secondly the food was absolutely incredible. I was first amazed by the selection available. It was hard to decide what to order. After deciding on the Keto Bowl with Grilled Shrimp in Tomatillo Sauce and a side of diced sautéed Brussel Sprouts with Tomatoes, I was immediately mesmerized by the collision of flavor. I highly recommend both. Lastly, the customer care among the staff was impressive--easily better than most restaurants. The people are happy, interruptible and accommodating. When I complemented the food to a few of the staff, they all seemed to take pride in it, thanked me and even invited me back (special mention to Morgan). My main thought when leaving was, "I'll definitely be back--often." One day we'll all understand the problem of evil, we'll discover the other side of black holes, we may even figure out the mechanics of ancient architecture--but what I'll never understand is anything less than a 5-star Yelp consensus for Tocaya. read more

Delicious, but is it actually organic? Nothing on the website actually says the ingredients are organic. Sure I'll pay $15 for a small salad if it's organic, but they don't actually say. Ordering on your phone is hell. You have to pick your state, then your location, then a pickup date and time before you can even view the menu to decide if you want to eat there. Almost gave up. There are good locations for Tocaya. San Diego, Santa Monica, the Point. I chose to go here as my birthday night out because we were close by and I had not been to this location, but I ended up regretting it and being ridiculed for my choice. The server at the counter was nice and helpful, the guy that delivered the food was also very attentive, and generally the staff was pleasant. However, I think everyone found something wrong with their food. Some of the order (a salad) came out after everyone else had eaten, some food under-done, some food over-done...
