I went to Tofu King last night (Sunday), and I have to say, Tofu King signage was not anywhere on the restaurant. We were able to confirm that this was the place because we could read the chinese on the windows. The restaurant itself is clean and nicely appointed. There were three other groups eating there at about 8 pm. I ordered the sliced pork (pork belly) and mushroom rice with boiled egg while my wife ordered the grilled chicken and rice plates. We also ordered the large stinky tofu appetizer since it is the specialty here at the restaurant. When the tofu came, we could definitely tell that it was stinky tofu, but it didn't taste or smell as potent as I've had it in the past, although the only other place that I've had it was in Taiwan. That being said, the tofu was pretty good, the pickled kimchi that accompanied the tofu was good as well. My dish of the sliced pork and mushroom was good; albeit the portion was a little on the smaller side to my disappointment. My wife's chicken rice dish looked to be pretty good as well. All in all, we will probably be return customers, but we're still looking for a Won Won Kitchen replacement. Good food and clean facility. Worth a visit, especially if you're craving Taiwanese stinky tofu. read more

Very authentic Taiwanese street food! Best of all no MSG! Stinky tofu is very original! Not as smelly as the ones in Taiwan, but I love it! Yum. The foods are comforting. The squid rice noodle is good. Will go back and try other stuff. read more

This Taiwanese restaurant really surprised me!!! I am so picky about food, snack and everything related to eat. Today my husband and I want to catch Cinderella show time at AMC Santa Anita Mall, so I checked my bookmarks by distance, then I decided to give a try here. We ordered Stinky tofu, pork rice with egg(lu Rou fan), sticky rice( zhu xue gao) and seaweed to go. WOW! Everything tastes great especially the signature stinky tofu! Soft and yummy!!Amazing!!! This place has delicious Taiwanese food and I HIGHLY recommend the minced pork rice, minced pork noodle soup with meatballs (gong-wan), and stinky tofu. Although the stinky tofu isn't as stinky as other places or Taiwan for that matter, but the flavor is there and the sour cabbage is fresh and tasty. My favorite part of this place is the service. I buy frozen dumplings and house made meatballs here often and the man at the cashier, who I believe is the owner/manager, is always friendly and helpful. He gives good suggestions as to what to order and tips on how to cook the dishes at home. For this fact alone I will keep coming back. Excellent service and quick and tasty food. There are vegetarian options as well. I recommend the bite sized stinky tofu, the mushroom and tofu rice noodles soup, and the sour plum juice (if you like BBQ sauce). My companions have enjoyed the pork chops and the minced pork rice. read more

I have been to all three locations -- Rowland Heights, Irvine, and Arcadia. All three are delicious. I have had stinky tofu everywhere...and I still come back to this place. I grew up in Taiwan having stinky tofu...so that taste is forever embedded in my gene. Other places just dont feel authentic. Minced pork on rice is delicious. Its the only one my mom prefers when she has a craving for it. All the other places...she frowns and shakes her head. Enjoy the food here. A great default place to enjoy when you get lazy from cooking. read more

First thing I have to say about this place is that the guy at the cash register was very friendly and thorough in his explanation when I asked about his stinky tofu menu. So plus on customer service. They have the large 3-pc stinky tofu option or smaller/bite-size 10-11pc stinky tofu option. I got bite size Cuz I wanted to eat on the go, but I felt like the larger size might be a better choice since I tasted more fried batter than actual tofu :( Nonetheless there's a lot of food items I would like to try here so I will be coming back! read more

I haven't had stinky tofu in years so after seeing the name of the place and checking out reviews, I went with double servings of stinky tofu. Regular stinky tofu and spicy stinky tofu. The spicy one is par for what I would expect for stinky tofu and really tasty. The fried stinky tofu was bland and had no stink at all. The dan dan noodles were tasty and fresh. It was 15 minutes to closing time so maybe that contributed to the inconsistency. I'll have to try again. read more

One of my favorite Taiwanese Cusine. The spicy stinky tofu is really good especially in a cold winter nights. The stinking tofu which is totally another authentic dish with Taiwanese kimchi. With stinky tofu is either you love it or you hate it can't stand the smells. A great combination is order the fried stinky tofu with cold sesame noodle. Definitely a good try if you never have stinky tofu before. read more

Having tried the Toku King restaurant in the Rowland Heights area, I've always yarned for their Taiwanese style stinky toku but didn't feel like driving the distance just to taste their toku. Therefore, when I heard that they have a new chain in Arcadia, I was ecstatic, and ordered the takeout shortly after they had their grand opening. And I wasn't disappointed. Needless to say, their Taiwanese style stinky toku is as good as I remembered them from Rowland Hts, but other dishes on the menu were pretty good as well. The baked chicken leg over rice was delicious, the mince meat on dry noodles was above average, and their Taiwanese style rice cake (with peanut sprinkles) was just amazing. The only knock was the beef noodle soup my brother ordered, and unfortunately he didn't like it very much. But other than that, it seems like they did a good job on most of the foods on the menu. The place was almost packed when I went for a pickup, and it looks like this restaurant is already building a nice reputation around the area. I hope this place is here to stay, so I can get my delicious stinky toku whenever I feel like it. read more

I must say. I'm so glad my mom took me to this place. I came here the second time with my husband and MMMMMM!!! so good :) I ordered the Pork Stew Rice and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Just the way I like it!! My husband was a fan of the stinky tofu. I liked it alot too but i prefer Ah Chung's stinky tofu over this one. Best of all... food tastes really good even WITHOUT MSG. Loved this place... it really did satisfy my craving with some good old Chinese/Taiwanese home-style cooking! Ordered the stinky tofu and a homey Chicken dish and it was simply delicious. The stinky tofu was good - but I have to agree with a lot of the comments here on yelp - that it wasn't stinky enough. I'd definitely come back again and try some of the other dishes. Not sure why the sign says Chans Paris N.. but anyway.. this place has STINKY TOFU (as suggested by their Chinese name on the sign). I LOVE LOVE LOVE stinky tofu. So I have to give this place a shot. We of course ordered the stinky tofu (Taiwanese styled instead of the bite size) and it was pretty good. It was more crunchy than chewy. A little different from what I was used to but still liked it. It was served on a little sushi boat which I thought was cute. The soy sauce that came with it was nice especially when you mixed it with the hot sauce provided on the table. I came here with a friend and we ordered the beef wonton soup, stinky tofu, mushroom pork belly with rice & soy sauce egg, and the taiwanese meatball with glutinous rice. The stinky tofu is.. an acquired taste (or smell, more accurately). The pork & rice dish was pretty average, as was the beef soup. The meatball was tasty. I grew up in Taiwan and Tofu King is the closest to legit Taiwanese stinky tofu I've had around the 626 area (although not as stinky as I'd like). Be aware that I'm referring to the fried ones, not the steamed ones. Not a fan of the steamed ones. Those taste more like chinese styled stinky tofu with the numbing hot sauce. Their minced pork rice also tastes like the ones I've had in Taiwan. I would recommend this place if you're looking for a quick Taiwanese fix. read more

Decent and affordable place to have traditional taiwanese food. I usually get the minced pork rice with eggs which is really filling for under $6. That's the only dish I usually get from this restaurant and I haven't had any problem with this particular dish as of yet. read more

I came to this place with one expectation, great stinky tofu. Their stinky tofu does not pass the test for me. It was not on the same level as what you'd get in Taiwan. The tofu didn't have a very strong taste and their garlic sauce was kind of bland. I know we're not in Taiwan, but if you're going to all yourself the King, you better make it great. Non Asians be warned. They serve stinky tofu here. So, the smell might hit your nose like being kicked by a mule. It takes a couple minutes to get use to the smell. Aside from that the food is really good and it's well worth the effort of dealing with smelly tofu. The chicken I ordered was well cooked and juicy. And the noodles were savory.
